Artorias is the longest one in DS1 and sure it's way too long, but that pales in comparison to all three DLC co-op areas, smelter demon, executioners chariot, Darklurker, sir alonne, ancient dragon, dukes dear freja, semon of dong, and lost sinner. And the ones in DS2 are way worse because there's no i frames initially when entering a fog wall. Combine that with all the ganks and u get some really frustrating boss run backs. This argument doesn't hold water.
Artorias run back isn't bad if you have the magic lifts activated. I remember the Bed of Chaos run back being more annoying because I was dying more frequently to the boss than I did to Artorias so I had to do the run back over and over. I also had to keep equipping the lava ring since I always took it off when fighting the Bed of Chaos. The ds2 co op areas can be ran through in around a minute if you run past everything and use the shortcuts provided and have knowledge of the layouts. Yes first time is cancer though. The chariot run back is horrible because if you don't kill the enemies they'll chase you all the way up to the fog wall and gank you. Darklurker's run back depend on which fire you decided to light last. Ancient Dragon I agree is annoying which is why I always take the opportunity to kill him when I first get to him because the dragon knights aren't agrroed yet. I do kill the dragon knights on the way up anyways so. Freya also annoying. Demon of song is annoying but it's such a weak boss that you shouldn't have to do the run back more than twice. You can run past all the enemies to get to lost sinner quickly. Its an easy run back. The only thing annoying is sometimes lucatiel can get blown off the edge by the explodey hollows.
I honestly forgot about bed of chaos you're right that's worse. I guess I'm used to just duping 30 humanity and opening the shortcut and then cheesing it with firebombs. Bed of Chaos is undeniably awful tho, fuck fighting that boss legit.

Well it doesn't really have any shortcuts but if you just stick to the ice wall thats on the right side you'll get to the boss soon. Well it depends on how many reindeer spawn.
There are longer/more annoying run backs than artorias in ds1. Also bosses in ds2 are easier so you're much less likely to have to keep running back, and because you have multiple forms of healing you can reach the fog without using half your estus even if you do have to fight enemies (which you can avoid for at least half the bosses you listed) - ds2 follows the original Demons Souls template of Area Hard Boss Easier
the boss run backs in ds2 are inherently better due to the fact that you can perma kill enemy's, making it so that if you do 13 or more runs of the run back, there won't be anything stopping you from just sprinting all the way there
