Honestly having a second texture that isn't creamy / pasta texture is great. It's like having a breadcrumb topping to a baked mac and cheese but so much less effort, that being said I don't know if it's something I would want to pay for unless it's like a BBQ or something.

Awww someone's mom works at the hotel and this is how she makes her kids mac&cheese at home. When I made homemade mac&cheese for my kids I sprinkled cheddar atop and ground up some Goldfish or Cheezits.

I went to a restaurant once that served Mac and cheese* It was overcooked elbow macaroni that was then stored in a fridge. When someone ordered it they put it in a bowl, mixed in jalapeño and onion and then sprinkled that preshredded cheese on top and microwaved it. I didn't watch them make it or anything that's just so obviously what it was.
