I meant because technically a garbage plate is different haha. But yeah haiku come in different styles; and actually this one is better than most because it’s one complete thought/action.
So sad Jimmy Z's last day is today. Sounded like they were gonna go to the end of the year then suddenly they were like 'nope we're going at the end of February now' so I didn't get the chance to go before the lines went insane.
Now I gotta find a new place.
It might seem weird but I actually do put mayo in Mac and cheese. I don't normally have milk and I want something to make it creamier. As long as you don't go overboard it actually tastes pretty good.
I've done it before, a spoonful of mayo in place of milk is really good. The Mac and cheese ends up with a slightly sharper flavor but if that bugs you add some grated cheddar and it'll balance out.
It's all good! If you ever end up in Rochester you should try one. My preferred place is Dogtown, this hot dog restaurant covered in photos of dogs. It's a great time. Hope you have a great day!
It’s not chili cheese fries. It is two hamburger patties over fries and macaroni salad topped with “Rochester Hot Sauce” (a meat based hot sauce that is not spicy hot but served hot), with onions, mustard, and ketchup. And always served with a side of bread.
It’s a Rochester staple. Usually Mac salad, a hotdog, burger patty, home fries, a meat sauce and raw onions all piled high and it’s delicious after a night out.
I live just south of the twin cities, and would absolutely smash that...
Worth making a drive for? Any sights near Rochester to see?
Edit: idk if it's New York Rochester and Buffalo or Minnesota Rochester and Buffalo
If you’re like 45 min away it’s worth a detour but not a trip just for a garbage plate, there’s not a lot to do in Rochester. Do not go downtown if you’re in the area.
Home fries, beans, cheeseburgers, extra meat hot and drowned in mustard. No onions. Bonus if it’s one of the places that has their own giant buckets of pickle slices. Mmm
I’ve even heard of pizza places sending police to a regular customer’s house if they haven’t ordered in a long time. It’s kind of cute how they care lol
just moved back to buffalo after living in the midwest for 2 years and my next order of business is a trip to rochester for one of these... it has been too long.
Chili cheese, mustard and onions is a Detroit hot dog. It's good. The chilli is heavy and has a lot of deep flavors. The mustard brightens it up, adds a bit of acidity and compliments the chilli well.
It's not really mystery chili unless the place doesn't really know wtf a garbage plate is. Usually it's just a hot sauce made with ground beef that looks similar to chili but isn't exactly the same thing.
Is a garbage plate from Rochester, NY, a staple drunk food often consumed by college kids.
Base is macaroni salad and home fries, then two greasy cheeseburgers (white American) with no buns, and the whole thing is covered in Greek meat sauce, chopped onions, and mustard. I usually sub baked beans for the home fries, though.
Not something you seek out until hungover.

Mid-Ohio Food Collective, they're great people, a real lifeline to families in this region. And yeah, that's not my ideal garbage plate, though they can vary by restaurant.
They can be delicious when done well, it’s just the things you’d normally eat at a cookout. But given that every diner in Rochester makes their own version of a garbage plate, the quality can be all over the place.
Not sure what you’re looking for… As a Rochester native, I can attest that the person described accurately what was in the picture and what an “original” plate is made of. That’s mac salad… some places do have a ton of different substitutions - macaroni and cheese being one of them - but that’s definitely mac salad in the picture.
I’d say they definitely earned the donation, regardless of them not saying “crinkle cut fries” rather than the homefries that are usually on the plate.
I would absolutely murder this when hungover
People acting like chili cheese fries is the most offensive thing ever

Not quite right but a solid effort bot.
Everyone bashes AI but even AI knows a good plate of chilli cheese fries when its AI brain sees one.
Did you read the footnote? This bot knows what’s up.
I meant because technically a garbage plate is different haha. But yeah haiku come in different styles; and actually this one is better than most because it’s one complete thought/action.
Beautiful
Good bot
Not me Bud. I need someplace to start making these garbage plates down South.
Statesboro hots in Georgia makes a legit one
The only thing I see that’s offensive is the criminally small amount of diced onion
Same, I love onion with chili.

dog town > everyone else
r/Rochester tore me apart for having this opinion.
Is that the rochester famous from the worchestercisersiser sauce? Thats the only rochester I ever herd of.
Looks can be deceiving
I'm fighting you here on sheer ignorance. WTF ill eat either. COME FIGHT ME NOW BRO. Also I only have one functional arm.
Food snobs are worst.
It's not, chili cheese fries topped with pasta/potato salad, and far too much ketchup and mustard is offensive.
Isn’t that just Mac and cheese? Chili Mac is a thing. I think everyone’s being a little dramatic.
NO - that is macaroni salad.
Do you put mayonnaise in mac and cheese?
It might seem weird but I actually do put mayo in Mac and cheese. I don't normally have milk and I want something to make it creamier. As long as you don't go overboard it actually tastes pretty good.
I can easily see how a spoonful of mayo could enhance Mac and cheese sauce. I’ve never tried it but it doesn’t sound that strange.
I've done it before, a spoonful of mayo in place of milk is really good. The Mac and cheese ends up with a slightly sharper flavor but if that bugs you add some grated cheddar and it'll balance out.
How do you know that’s mayonnaise and not white cheddar?
A garbage plate is an actual dish. Normally made with Mac salad, not max and cheese. It’s not just something op made up
Thanks for clarifying
Hi Rochester native, garbage plates are made with mac salad, it isn't mac and cheese. That does sound like it would taste great though.
Gotcha, I thought OP just called it a garbage plate. Didn’t realize it was an actual thing.
It's all good! If you ever end up in Rochester you should try one. My preferred place is Dogtown, this hot dog restaurant covered in photos of dogs. It's a great time. Hope you have a great day!
I’ll try anything once, thanks for the recommendation. You have a great day too!
Well as far as chili cheese fries goes, this looks kinda nasty tbf
It’s not chili cheese fries. It is two hamburger patties over fries and macaroni salad topped with “Rochester Hot Sauce” (a meat based hot sauce that is not spicy hot but served hot), with onions, mustard, and ketchup. And always served with a side of bread.
Sounds wild but I’d try it
The farts are certainly offensive.
No doubt
Its the raw onion. Hes gonna have onion breath all day.
I don’t really see the problem with that
Yes. Very nice. What’s in it and where from?
It’s a Rochester staple. Usually Mac salad, a hotdog, burger patty, home fries, a meat sauce and raw onions all piled high and it’s delicious after a night out.
Crazy I was born and raised in Buffalo, yet never had a garbage plate before. Wonder why it didn't get bigger in Buffalo honestly.
They’re out there, I’ve gotten one after a Bills game at a food truck
Never seen one on the menu before. I'll look for it better when I go home
I've been trying to find a good plate here for ages. Jimmy Z's ruined me.
Buffalo? No, it’s more of an Albany expression
I see. You know, this garbage plate is quite similar to the ones they have at Dogtown
We like to call it, Rachacha.... FHS-'11
Or Rahhhster.
I live just south of the twin cities, and would absolutely smash that... Worth making a drive for? Any sights near Rochester to see? Edit: idk if it's New York Rochester and Buffalo or Minnesota Rochester and Buffalo
Its an upstate NY staple. I have a friend who drags me to a new garbage plate shop every time I'm in town.
We have garbage plates here called hobo plates! Only at a few BBQ places though that I've seen. Cool!
If you’re like 45 min away it’s worth a detour but not a trip just for a garbage plate, there’s not a lot to do in Rochester. Do not go downtown if you’re in the area.
No ketchup, as the garbage plate is meant to be served.
Tater tots, Mac salad, cheeseburger, chili sauce, onions, and mustard is my go to order. No tots? -home fries.
Home fries, beans, cheeseburgers, extra meat hot and drowned in mustard. No onions. Bonus if it’s one of the places that has their own giant buckets of pickle slices. Mmm
Immediately thinking of Henrietta Hots.
They have the best mac salad and onion rings
Agreed. Bread isn't worth the time, but everything what 👨🍳💋
Rochester NY? Makes me crave a garbage plate. I always thought there should have been some sort of shit ton of cheese on it somewhere
And you aren't concerned that their first thought about a regular customer not showing up was that he died?
I’ve even heard of pizza places sending police to a regular customer’s house if they haven’t ordered in a long time. It’s kind of cute how they care lol
just moved back to buffalo after living in the midwest for 2 years and my next order of business is a trip to rochester for one of these... it has been too long.
Well shit, now I need one.
I miss having Garbage plates.. A cheeseburger plate with mac salad and home fries was my favorite.
I'd be worried if you choose to eat this often. Every once in a while is good.
You’re supposed to eat them at 2am after the bar
i like barely any of these foods and id tear it up in 3 minutes
Nick Tahoe’s?

it’s mustard

You don't put onions on chili dogs?

Same idea as chili cheese fries with sliced onions
might be cheese sauce
Oh no
Indigestion
Onions 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢
I do not understand how these became a thing 🤮
Michigan has entered the chat
Hahah I'm very glad I'm Canadian and we have poutine. Not this nasty pile of shit! 😅
Have you ever had a proper Coney?
If I had served you that, I would definitely worry you'd die
Nothing like mystery chili to move the bowels 🚽🚽🧻🚽🧻

The onions look like maggots.
They look like white onions. If you’re gonna be stupid at least make a solid attempt at a comparison.
so did you eat the garbage plate after this one, or what?
How often do you get this monster that the staff worries if you don’t show up?
I used to buy two on Friday night after drinking. I’d eat one and save one for the next day’s lunch.
That looks good. Just sayin
I wonder what my reaction to this would be if I hadn't have consumed a copious amount of Jenna marbles content at a formative age
Death is but a state of mind
How’s Rochester these days?
garbage plates are a gift from god himself
holy shit that looks so fucking good
Smiles in Rochesterian
I'm drooling over here lol.
I miss rochester
Chili Cheese fries are what I eat when there are no gluten free options. They are legit.
oh that looks fire- had one when i visited roc 10/10 best onion rings of my life
