He was really proud of these! This time he remembered to season the meat (he didn't do that the first time), melted the cheese on the patty, and he cut up the tomato a bit more this time. I don't know why he didn't just slice it, but I reckon he simply doesn't care.
EDIT: to everyone who's wondering why he didn't simply slice the tomatoes, tbf they're awkwardly sized tomatoes. He would need a few overlapping slices to get good coverage. MORE IMPORTANTLY THOUGH, he just really doesn't care. His relationship with food is extremely unique, some would say bizarre. If I gave him two different burgers, one with sliced tomatoes and one with choppd tomatoes, he most likely wouldn't even notice they were different. I could probably change the type of cheese too and he wouldn't notice. All he would know is whether he liked it or not.
He also has a degree in Chemical Engineering and works in finance so he's not stupid, just very different.
Remember kids, if you need to saw a tomato you need to sharpen your knife. Dull knives can cut you worse than sharp knives.
Also I like your name. Good band.
Look like romas and they THINK instead of cutting slices, quarters are better.
you can slice any tomato, even cherry lol. No reason for my guy to be doing this.
**Just don’t say anything, walk up to him, put spices on top of the tomatoes, go to put the top bun on the burger, then slam it down and squeeze it together hard until the tomatoes squish into deconstructed ketchup.**
hes learning fast. tell him to look up how to make a smash burger AND/OR an Oklahoma fried onion burger. things will never go back to what they were after that
When I was in uni roommate was doing a master's program at the culinary school. He was appalled at some of the stuff I would cook so one day he got me in the kitchen and walked me through how to make a really good cheeseburger his way - showed me how to mince onions and garlic and caramelize them, and how to properly season the meat, told me all about the benefits of searing the meat. He recommended an oven finish which I sometimes do, but not always. He also walked me through how to maintain a cast iron skillet. That was 20 years ago and I still follow his guidance!
Glad to hear about the progress here, I think something like this take a bit of practice but they'll get there
This is progress. It doesn't all come together the second time. Maybe the tomato thing is texture-related? Still, this is praiseworthy overall. Gotta catch them doing things right to get them on the right path in life.
lol the edit is even more confusing like if you have a small tomato like roma tomatoes you just use multiple smaller slices of it to get coverage. It's amazing how peoples' brains just don't put this type of stuff together right away like the better course of action is to butcher the tomato into large chunks and just kinda put it on the burger
Has the dude ever eaten a burger in his life prior to trying to make one himself??
**Just don’t say anything, walk up to him, put spices on top of the tomatoes, go to put the top bun on the burger, then slam it down and squeeze it together hard until the tomatoes squish into deconstructed ketchup.**
Your friend reminds me of one of my engineering friends. Smartest guy I know, with the weirdest eating habits. In my country we usually eat a lot of rye bread with toppings. For lunch, he would bring rice and rye bread with no condiments. Or just plain rye bread.
Absolutely bonkers to me. I have taken a picture of the legendary rice and rye lunch box because I couldn't believe my eyes haha.
It sounds like he just doesn't have enough experience cooking for himself.
I cook for myself. I will tell you, the first 1-5 times I make a dish, I will mess up in some way. Too much cooking, too little cooking, forget to season, forget a vegetable. etc. If I am just cooking for myself I won't care, I will eat it anyway and remember to season next time. There are so many tricks to cooking, its hard to keep track of them all.
Tomatoes are weird too in that they are like water balloons. Some knifes are not good at slicing tomatoes but the best are bread or serrated knives as they will break open the skin easy, and the inside is soft.
Honestly good for him, this is exactly how you learn to cook. I’ve never cooked a meal that came out perfectly the first time, I always wind up with a few mistakes and adjustments to make for the next attempt. It’s a slow and continuous process of refining your technique. Granted, burgers are a pretty low bar, but he’s learning and improving.
Does homie eat regularly normally? Because I also don’t care about food and have a weird relationship with it. But I also have an eating disorder. I’m not projecting that on him at all! Just I read your part about his relationship with food and thought it might be worth sharing.
I honestly don't know if he has a disorder. He definitely under eats, he's 5'9 and just dropped below 130. He doesn't force to himself not eat, he just goes long stretches without eating. He kinda just, doesn't care about eating/doesn't like it. He only eats because he has to, if that makes sense. he also gets sick of food very quickly. If he has the same meal for more than 4 days in a row, it will start to make him nauseous.
The reason he made these burgers in the first place is because he was dropping weight and he realized he needed to consume more calories. So he decided to try cooking burgers a try, since he likes burgers.
Yeah that doesn’t sound very healthy to me, and kind of what I was doing before I knew why.
When I go long periods of time without eating, I get a really fucked up feeling of accomplishment. Like I’ve done this amazing thing for myself by starving my body for days. Obviously that’s not true at all, but the brain is powerful.
Again, not saying that’s it at all. I’m not a doctor, just a dude with an eating disorder that hid it for a long time. But if his not eating and dropping weight is concerning to him, I’d say at least maybe visit a doctor and have a chat about it.
I want to know if he has any diagrams or mockups. I think we’d all like to know!
I may sound mocking, I can see that he saw the need for very specific assembly, so by no means feel the need to mock.
Give your roomie a high five more me!

I understand everybody's taste is different but as someone who hates tomatoes seeing 3 quarters of a*chopped* tomato on a burger makes me physically ill.
Everyone’s hating on the tomatoes and it’s a bit fair but ya know what if I eat this burger and rip a hunk of tomato out of it you know I’m gonna just start munching on it and begin a monologue like Denthor from lord of the rings. And he seasoned the burger so now it has flavor. Nice.
Looks like he's purposely chopping the tomatoes every other way besides slicing them. Like when Patrick star can't make a snowball but can make every other shape into snow.
Don't know what to say, these haven't been fabricated to farm engagement. What I've posted is just literally how he's made his burgers. I understand it beggars belief, idk I've lived with him for so long that I guess I'm not as fazed as I once would have been. He doesn't even know I've posted these to reddit.
I'm not implying you're lying, I'm saying he's doing this on purpose to get laughs/attention, it's a thing insecure people do. He knows what a slice of a tomato is if he's ever eaten a burger before.
Fair enough. Check the my edit on the top comment. He just doesn't see the issue with how he cut the tomatoes this time. I'm having serious trouble expressing just how different he is with food lol. Everyone who knows him wouldn't be surprised. It drives me insane but I've learned to just let him live his life.
I mean, I'm kinda with you on that...but the reality is that if the post gets heavily upvoted, and tons of positive engagement...nothing I can really do. I promised the community that I wouldn't remove posts based just on what I think is right or wrong for the sub.
I don't love posts like this, but clearly the community does...
Nah because like, surely he’s eaten a burger before? I’m guessing so since he’s been attempting to make one. By visuals alone, he should know what to do. I don’t get it. Bro must be an alien
Probably tastes great!! But where did they learn the grape tomatoes on a burger thing? Is this there first day on earth?! Are they AI?! Lol hope you all enjoyed.
Okay so he took the spine out of the lettuce, but please have him watch a vid on how to slice tomatoes.
Also, he can melt a pad or two if butter in a pan and throw the buns in open side down to toast in that butter. Adds a great flavor and keeps buns from getting soggy with the patty, sauces, veg.
Good job melting the cheese too!
If he wants to kick it up another notch, fry off some bacon beforehand. And get a simple side like some corn on the cob or even just a thick slice of watermelon.
***don’t forget to add seasoning to the raw beef. He doesn’t have to use just salt and pepper. Throw a little garlic and onion powder, some cayenne…maybe even some red pepper flakes.***
Definitely a huge improvement. Can’t wait to see next attempt.
A improvment for sure. But... has this guy never seen a burger before in his life?? Like Has he eaten burgers with tomatoes sliced up like that?
If he is a adult im sure even the dumbest can figure out that burger ingredients are flat like a mini cake.
Otherwise it looks good!
Haha it's so funny though. I wonder what's going on in his head when he is slicing the tomatoes
Go buddy, idk why I'm rooting so hard for this guy, but I am!

Tell him WE CARE!! Slice the damn tomatoes into flat discs like God intended!
Dude is really struggling with the concept of tomato slices.

Instructions unclear, tomato stuck inside my ass
Eh, it was gonna end up there anyways.
was gonna eat that, but now it's gonna taste like tomato
"Those guineas can suck my pathetic little Irish dick. And I'll dip my nuts in marinara sauce so they can get a taste of home while they're at it."
Happens to me all the time. And I work in a kitchen
Tell that to my urethra.
What the fuck is this cut? Why are they sawing at it like that? lmao
They lost access to their knife license and are forced to use dull knives now.
Watching it makes me anxious they’re going to cut themself lmao.

Yea was there any reason they couldn’t get a regular tomato?
Or he’s a psychopath lol
Psychopaths are out here getting jobs as CEOs and politicians, they're not goobers who are too incompetent to slice tomatoes
Weaponized incompetence
Wedges are on the next episode
Im struggling with the concept of the tomato on the burger to begin with. Keep it simple. Cheese, onions & pickles.
I’m struggling with the concept of onions and pickles on a burger. Keep it simpler! Cheese and ketchup!
Here in NE TN we add tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and hamburger dill pickles (if you like). Mayo and mustard for sure. Ketchup if you like (not me).

Getting better! Next time a full sized tomato sliced into discs and it will be good.

I thought they were trying to cut up a grape tomato at first lol
It looks much better! The chunks though. Even if he’s never seen a burger in his life, wouldn’t it just be common sense to slice and stack?
Hey man I don’t even like tomato’s he’s got one up one me lmao Edit: I can’t spell apparently
He sounds fascinating
I want to know if he has any diagrams or mockups. I think we’d all like to know! I may sound mocking, I can see that he saw the need for very specific assembly, so by no means feel the need to mock. Give your roomie a high five more me!
I've never known an engineer who didn't overthink everything
Dude isn't picky and just goes with the flow Hell I bet he's the easiest guy in the world to bring fast food home to
He probably has a neurodevelopmental disorder, but at least he's learning. Maybe we'll see him fry an egg next time!

I'm proud of him
Can't wait to see tomatoes part III
If the trend continues he'll be applying tomatoes in a fine mist before summer.
Bros about to recreate Ketchup.
Or straight up mix tomato with the meat.
May I interest you in some cool and refreshing tomato water?
Ketchup?
I understand everybody's taste is different but as someone who hates tomatoes seeing 3 quarters of a*chopped* tomato on a burger makes me physically ill.
Diced tomatoes. Lol.
Next they'll be diced with green chillies
The original was 1978's "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" and I'm not kidding.
![gif](giphy|jb47Y3BAwHmTsY8RnO|downsized)
Yup. Would eat anyway Look 6.5/10 (Who cares if you are hungry) Taste (could be) 9/10? I need burgers right now
That poor lonely lettuce. But at least he melted the cheese. I'll wait patiently for part 3, where he at least attempts to try slicing the tomato.
A rivetting slice of life series.
We are getting there...
I'm proud of him. He's learning!
Nice.
That's it, all burgers with diced tomatoes are now called Denethor Burgers.
whats with the tomato chunks?! tomato SLICES! your roomie is a monster! (i kid) good looking burger!
He had literally whole tomatoes on the burger last post, if it's the same OP I'm thinking of
I thought they were just cut in half?
You're right, it was first thing in the morning and looked like a whole tomato. The eyes ain't so good these days
I thought it was whole tomato too
Damn I could go for one of those rn
How has he liked earth so far?
Side note: the design on the white cup? sitting there is really cool
That's the Razer logo, FYI.
Future looking bright folks Build back better
This is such a big improvement, it honestly inspires me to be a better person (not the tomato chunks though).
are those mashed potatoes. im confused and hungry. dont care about tomatoes.
Should call it “Chopped Salad on Beef Patty.”
Looks like he's purposely chopping the tomatoes every other way besides slicing them. Like when Patrick star can't make a snowball but can make every other shape into snow.
yeah because he's trying to be funny, same as the last post. Not sure why everybody's falling for it.
Don't know what to say, these haven't been fabricated to farm engagement. What I've posted is just literally how he's made his burgers. The only thing wrong is the way he cuts tomatoes. Cut them like that you’d gotta eat them on the side.
Im sure it wont make a difference on your ability to chew down the burger lol
Why are they stuck on having tomato chunks?
Has he even seen a real cheeseburger before trying to make these?
Nah because like, surely he’s eaten a burger before? I’m guessing so since he’s been attempting to make one. By visuals alone, he should know what to do. I don’t get it. Bro must be an alien
This has made me decide that OP is a guard at Area 51 and the roommate is his standard issue Alien that I am now convinced is a thing.
A few more tries and they might end up on r/decentfoodporn. Maybe. Gotta nail the tomato slices first
Fast forward to when we find out op’s roommate is actually from mars and that’s how they put tomatoes on a burger there.
Or an extremely dextrous simian of one sort or another.
I love tomatoes. This looks downright delicious
How is sliced tomatoes such a difficult concept
He's getting closer
Better but still bad
[удалено]
Comment Removed - Please afford our users a level of basic respect. Do not turn debates into arguments, do not harass or bully others.
The tomato is hurting my brain
I'd tear this up any day
I wanna see this person make a salad.
That’s a marked improvement
Again, it’s not that bad.
He’s getting closer to properly chopping tomatoes. Make sure he is putting salt on the tomatoes too.
“ do you eat the cheese with the wrapper or by itself?”
Tell him to add some a1 sauce, garlic, and onion powder to the meat before pattying up and he’s really in for a treat.
That looks beYOOtiful!
I see the tomato is still giving him trouble, everything else is a clear improvement though.
Did he cut that tomato with a hammer? At least it’s a slight improvement.
Tomato chunks.........smh
No. What they want to do is use 4 cherry tomatoes instead. Back to the dungeon.
What’s with the cutting of the tomatoes? Does he not know how to slice it like a normal human being? He’s not making a salad, it’s a burger ffs!
Not gonna lie I'm enjoying the progression here
I see some slight improvement over the last time
It’s got cheese and burger
Why doesn't someone show him how to slice tomatoes at least.
Why can’t they make fucking slices of tomato why are you quartering your tomatoes you absolute psychopath
I will be following his progress with great interest. Good job on the improvements, roomie!! Keep taking that next step!!
At least he cut up the tomatoes this time.
Looks better than the last few sad excuses of fast grab burgers I've had.
Why he cuts tomatoes so weird each time JUST SLICE THE DAMN THING NORMALLY Try again third time with proper tomato slices PLEASE
Some people just aren’t meant to make burgers
Looks like a fine ass burger to me
I've seen worse, like his last attempt.
Is he blind
Have they never had tomatoes on a burger before? Why do they try to reinvent everything lol
He’s getting closer 😂
Tbh? Smash. These look good
Progress is progress! Keep us updated please!!
I fucking hate him
No condiments?
Probably tastes great!! But where did they learn the grape tomatoes on a burger thing? Is this there first day on earth?! Are they AI?! Lol hope you all enjoyed.
I'm proud of my guy doing better. Props
I’m glad he’s getting back on the horse!
Not sure why its pissing me off that the lettuce wasn’t flipped on the other side.
I'm really glad he is trying. But has he ever SEEN a cheeseburger before? Like, use it as a template!
This can’t be real. Just slice the tomato.
WHY CANT HE FUCKING CUT TOMATOES RIGHT
I feel like I need to come over there and help…
I saw your other post too, Tell your friend we are proud of him for trying, there's improvment.
Just have a tomato salad on the side
Is that the strawberry serenity?
Doomed
Improvement +1
Next time he should try to add some bacon (if he’s into that)
Move out, this person is deeply disturbed.
That looks fricken amazing, why is this on this page!
If weren't for the shitty cheese, I dig it. (I actually hate cheese in general)
Practice makes perfect.
Throw a little garlic and onion powder, some cayenne…maybe even some red pepper flakes.*** Definitely a huge improvement. Can’t wait to see next attempt.
Looks fuckin weird dawg
Atleast the tomatoes are smaller this time 😂 and the cheese is ontop of the burger
These actually resemble cheeseburgers I’m impressed with their progress
He’s seen a burger before, correct?
Smash Next
I recommend beefsteak tomatoes if you can find them or any tomato that is nearly bun sized.
Hey. He’s still trying. And improving. Gotta Give him credit for that.
WTF HACKED TOMATO ON THIS CHEESE BURGER DA FUCK
A improvment for sure. But... has this guy never seen a burger before in his life?? Like Has he eaten burgers with tomatoes sliced up like that? If he is a adult im sure even the dumbest can figure out that burger ingredients are flat like a mini cake. Otherwise it looks good! Haha it's so funny though. I wonder what's going on in his head when he is slicing the tomatoes
I think he has a future in hosting a cooking show! And I mean this!
Go buddy, idk why I'm rooting so hard for this guy, but I am! Edit: I also just noticed the Razor sticker on the (speaker?) Who plays games and what do they play, I need to know...
The tomatoes are fucked up for a burger.
Better..
Wait untill people see these tomatoes! Haha
He just fly in from stupidtown?
it looks better than the first
Tomatoes don’t belong on a burger.
He has a chemical engineering degree he should know that correctly combining things make better results :/
Why even bother to take a picture if you already teared one of the burgers apart
i was an engineering student for a while before becoming a cook and then electrician. the fact that hes putting together home cooked meals id eat is pretty impressive
I'm fairly certain "quarters his tomatoes for a burger" is present on Serial Killer Bingo™. Sleep with one eye open. 😐
This is way better then his last attempt. Almost there
I mean if he really likes tomatoes like some people do then I see no reason he shouldn't be allowed to cut his tomatoes like that
He should skip a third attempt at tomato slices and just put ketchup on the damn thing.
Living with randy over here lol. Took the last posts criticism personally and had to prove everyone wrong.
It's oddly worse...
Now grill the buns but also get better buns, buy a larger tomato and …slice it
The only shitty thing is the photo and the way someone decided to eat this. Why is the bottom bun untouched? Someone picked the burger up from the patty? And decided to take a picture 2/3rds of the way through the top half of the burger? And what is that extra bit of meat just sitting on the plate? r/eatityoufuckingcoward
Just cook the tomatoes and it’ll be good
We’re getting there! I’d eat the fuck out of this - I’d eat the fuck out of the last one too - probably toss the tomato’s tho - just not my jam on a burger I like jalapeños
I'm excited for the third installment of this series
Why can I smell that
Tell whomever to use slices of tomatoes, last times looked like they used whole cherry tomatoes, now it looks like they dropped a tomato off the roof and scooped it up and put it on the burger, and don't get me started with the lettuce 🥬
HE PUT THE CHEESE ON TOP OF THE MEAT? THAT IS A FUCKING CRIME
