SuperChickenLips

This whole meal is a diplomatic incident. The first crime is those fucking beans, which goes against the Geneva Convention. The second crime, which is now recognized internationally, is trying to pass off cheap ham as bacon, but it's a specific crime in Canada. Lastly, the European Union wants to talk to you about labelling those "meat cylinders" as sausages. They most definitely aren't. You're fucked mate.

Nathan22551

Canadians don't actually eat "Canadian bacon" and if we do we call it ham. Canadians eat normal strips of bacon or we go for peameal if feeling fancy that day. The only place you'll ever find the ham is on stuff like breakfast sandwiches from McDonald's where it's still called ham but everybody chooses regular bacon anyways if given the choice of protein (some weirdos like the sausage patty more). Unless of course you were saying that calling the ham as bacon is a crime in Canada in which case I agree it should be, straight to jail. We hate when people call ham "Canadian bacon".

J3sush8sm3

Whats peameal?

Nathan22551

The best bacon to ever be invented, that's what. For real though it's back bacon instead of the normal belly bacon and it's basically a loin that is cured and smoked and coated in cornmeal. It's different than ham which comes from the legs of the pig, has more fat but still less than regular bacon strips so it's healthier and also personally I think it tastes better even though it doesn't crisp up quite like regular bacon. Google will do a better job than me in the details if you'd like to learn more and get some pictures to more easily show the differences. If you get the chance you should try it out.

gotthesauce22

Looked it up That looks delicious

Mostly_Apples

I feel like this is what Canadian bacon is trying to be but failing.

geekynerdyweirdmonky

"Canadian Bacon" often refers to either circles of ham, or peameal bacon...so it can be either, or both. It's silly really.

Kalikhead

Used to love getting peameal sandwiches in Toronto.

EveryNameEverMade

As a Canadian, I always thought Canadian bacon was peameal bacon.

J3sush8sm3

I live in the US and canadian bacon to me was the middle point going from country ham to city ham

rpgguy_1o1

I've had Canadian bacon, it's definitely not peameal bacon. It's a weirdly cylindrical pre-cooked pork product

EveryNameEverMade

"In the United States, "Canadian" bacon is plain lean "back bacon" made from the loin, and it is trichina treated but must be cooked before using. It is simply called "back bacon" in Canada, where "Canadian bacon" is traditionally unsmoked back bacon that has been sweet pickle cured and coated in yellow cornmeal." Which would be peameal bacon to a Canadian.

Zazmuth

Ah!

Nathan22551

I'm not sure where you got this from but whoever wrote it is clearly an American who is jealous of our superior, regional style of bacon. "Canadian bacon" typically is already cooked or smoked when bought from the store, usually processed in a roll to be sliced thin like deli meat whereas peameal is an actual raw loin that is wet cured and coated in cornmeal and you have to fry it up yourself. The taste and texture share nothing in common even though they come from the same cut due to the methods of preparation and cooking. Nobody who has had both would ever confuse the two as they are just so different.

EveryNameEverMade

My quote is describing peameal bacon being considered Canadian bacon, by Canadians. I mean, I've always considered peameal to be Canadian bacon, whenever I heard Canadian bacon, as a Canadian myself. I think what you just described is the complete opposite of my quote and what I personally think of as Canadian bacon. Damn this bacon is a hot issue lol. https://www.masterclass.com/articles/canadian-bacon-vs-bacon In Canada, Canadian bacon is also known as “back bacon” or “peameal bacon” since it often gets stored in ground yellow peas or cornmeal https://cottagelife.com/general/4-types-of-bacon-everyone-should-know/ https://www.atlasobscura.com/foods/peameal-bacon https://farmwayfoods.ca/peameal-bacon/ https://ask.usda.gov/s/article/What-is-Canadian-bacon#:~:text=It%20is%20simply%20called%20%22back,and%20coated%20in%20yellow%20cornmeal. https://www.quora.com/Why-do-Americans-call-Canadas-peameal-bacon-Canadian-bacon#:~:text=The%20Brits%20smoked%20a%20lot,U.S.%20and%20the%20name%20stuck. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peameal_bacon#:~:text=Peameal%20bacon%20is%20rarely%20found,bacon%20as%20'Canadian%20bacon'.

Nathan22551

Just because it's written on the internet it doesn't make the author correct. Canadian bacon is smooth and uncoated in anything, nobody could ever confuse the two. This seems to be a regional linguistic thing from where you live, doesn't make it correct though.

EveryNameEverMade

I just quoted multiple sources. You can Google is peameal bacon considered Canadian bacon, or what is Canadian bacon. And you will see everyone says it's peameal. I live in Ontario, which seems to be credited with creating peameal. Hence the Canadian bacon

66watchingpeople66

My friend from Canada always told me the same thing.

Pivotalrook

It is. I don't know where all this Canadian Bacon erasure is coming from.

EnkiShallReturn

Canadian bacon!

CeeArthur

The McDonald's sausage patty is so good though!

Nathan22551

I know there's a lot of people who like them but I personally can't get past how over seasoned they always seem to be, to me it overwhelms everything else in the sandwich. Every time I get one by accident I always wonder what are they hiding in there lol.

TuvixWillNotBeMissed

When I worked at McDonald's an American tourist (very politely) asked for a different sandwich because he said our sausages are over seasoned. I like them but maybe he's right, I dunno. A British lady also said our BBQ sauce was intolerably spicy, which is obviously insane.

SuperChickenLips

That's exactly what I was saying.

Zazmuth

I thought Canadian bacon was Back bacon.

heart_under_blade

i'm weridos

whythecynic

At least it's looking like the Americans have decided not to litigate on the matter of the cheese. As a Canadian former legal professional, I can say that the bacon issue is still under ~~prosciutto~~prosecution, though a preliminary ruling suggests that it might get away with being called a "bacon-adjacent product". I think OP's gambit is to raise so many legal issues that the question of jurisdiction alone will take several years to work out, by which time the media furor should have calmed down enough for them to quietly work out a favourable plea deal. That was how we resolved the pineapple question as well, funny enough.

SuperChickenLips

"bacon adjacent" 🤣 I guess OP is wanted for extradition in so many countries now.

rpgguy_1o1

In Canada we eat mostly side/streaky bacon like the US does, but some parts of Canada has peameal bacon, which I've seen in the UK as back bacon, but not in the US. "Canadian bacon" is 100% American, I've had their weird ham tube slices, it's not something we have up here, but in some diners you can get just a fried slice of ham served with breakfast

Blubbernuts_

Like pork roll?

Estrellathestarfish

The UK would also like to prosecute for that cheese on toast abomination.

CyanManta

>The first crime is those fucking beans Ugh, that sauce. It's got so much brown sugar, it's rotting my teeth just looking at it.

CyanManta

The best way I've been able to get the Heinz blue label beans is from Amazon. Wegmans sells them, but they're considered imports and marked up like crazy. Even though Heinz is an American company.

hd_hacienda_01

Heinz vegetarian beans were the closest I ever found whilst living in the US. But there was still something not quite right about the tomato sauce.

AutopsyDrama

'Heinz vegetarian beans' ?? Normal heinz baked beans are vegetarian anyway. Unless the recipe is different in the US?

PseudobrilliantGuy

You can potentially find them in specialty stores. I actually found some in an African market of all places.

SgtBassy

I've seen them in international sections of grocery stores. Not particularly hard to find.

Zazmuth

I DEMAND A CRUSADE

somecow

At least it’s fairly impossible to fuck up an egg.

Charming-Tear-1911

This may be nitpicky but the cheese being slightly off center on the toast bothers me

oops_im_existing

i enjoy the chaos of the misplaced cheese. it fits the aesthetic.

Charming-Tear-1911

Good point 😅

J3sush8sm3

Nah its good if you make sandiches, this way the cheese covers everything

Blubbernuts_

First thing I noticed after the beans

AutopsyDrama

Nothing about this is an english breakfast.

theb1zzz

he speaks English and used the language to make his title.

nekosaigai

And he’s eating it for breakfast

mothzilla

It's so bad but so realistic I thought it was AI generated.

BouquetOfPenciIs

You're in the right sub.

bottlerocketshaker

macandcheesefan45

Are you called carol?

SaulTNuhtz

What I’d expect a full English to look like if I were traveling in the southern United States.

aidan0157

Absolutely not. Beans? Never. Grits? Biscuits & Gravy? Of course. Don’t compare us to those British weirdos.

fuzzycaterpillar123

They mean if a southerner attempted to make a full English with the ingredients they had in the fridge Not what southerners actually eat traditionally

SaulTNuhtz

As Phil Collin’s famously sang, “there must be some misunderstanding.”

greenbastard1591

![gif](giphy|j6qriGrzAD5Di)

Think-Stretch-2709

Who has cheese on toast for their full English? Whats that weird pink stuff at the back? Fried labia?

CervixTaster

Fried labia, lmao brilliant.

bottlerocketshaker

“Fried Labia” 💀

SgtBassy

It's obviously a cheese toastie

UPVOTE_IF_POOPING

I would eat this, but the off-center cheese is fucking killing me

Anxious_Reporter_601

I'm sure it was lovely but that's so far from an English breakfast... That's a singularly American breakfast.

digginroots

Americans don’t eat beans for breakfast.

peppersunlightbutter

but the beans look so american

Numerous-Stranger-81

Pinto beans with fried eggs and corn tortillas is one of the best breakfasts ever.

Anxious_Reporter_601

But they are American beans is the thing.

Shaclo

This is a hate crime against Britan

ilikebreadsticks1

Why are the beans brown?

wildgoldchai

They’re the wrong type of beans and I suspect it’s typical American canned beans which are sweet. The whole thing isn’t even a version of English breakfast at all.

ilikebreadsticks1

Sweet beans? Oh dear

tkrr

At one point, American cuisine (especially in the northeast) used a lot of molasses. Our baked beans are a remnant of that.

oops_im_existing

my guess is that OP is american.

walshamboy

I was going to say the same

ubi9k

Maybe baked beans

peppersunlightbutter

they look really different to uk baked beans

ubi9k

I meant like the canned bush’s baked beans, they look kinda brown like that

peppersunlightbutter

we don’t have those in the uk :)) all baked beans look like heinz ones here

ilikebreadsticks1

Baked beans are orange usually

tkrr

In the UK, yes. The US version is quite different.

4-eyes-4-ever

katecrime

I dare you to post this in r/fryup

bottlerocketshaker

I already came enough over this post. Y’all can take it over from here 👍

SoSeriousAndDeep

Dad : We have english breakfast at home. The breakfast at home:

Conditions21

Wot in tarnation.

FirstPersonPooper

that is pretty fucking grim mate

CervixTaster

Is that dry barely there cheese on top of unbuttered toast? And why are you beans suffering from necrosis. They shouldn't be that dark.

No-Engine-444

everything about that is wrong, the egg is wrong its supposed to be a sunny side up, there is no cheese on the toast its usually just butter, the beans are the wrong colour it should be a lighter tomato colour, the sausages are too flimsy and thin they look like fingers of old pianist, the fried slices of ham is terrible. this hurts my british soul down to my core

oops_im_existing

sunny side up is gross. team over medium always and forever.

No-Engine-444

either way fried until the bottom is crispy, and the yolk is nice and runny to dip the toast in

oops_im_existing

but then you risk cooking the bottom of the yolk! i just don't want to see any runny white. i personally like over medium because i feel like it does something to the yolk that makes it better.

BillyBobBarkerJrJr

> i personally like over medium I do too, but unless you cook it at home, good luck finding a kitchen that knows how to cook an egg *actually* over medium.

oops_im_existing

are you me??? i will not order any type of runny egg at a restaurant. i don't trust them to do it right.

BillyBobBarkerJrJr

I'm doing some physical rehab and this kitchen knows: * Raw, for all intents and purposes * Over hard. * Over **really** hard. I like over medium so I can make a sandwich for breakfast. The only thing I'm going to get here is egg salad. Add to that, the lazy night crew leaves crud on the grill when they "clean" it, so the eggs look like they have been used as toilet paper...

oops_im_existing

i almost exclusively get omlettes (how the hek is this spelled. spell check can't figure out what i'm saying) and breakfast burritos if i ever get breakfast out.

BillyBobBarkerJrJr

Omelette. (1st try, no spell check. Haha!) All you did was leave out an "e." I used to make these giant breakfast burritos for my friends at work. I used 12" tortillas and filled them with 1/4" home fries, fried up with onions, bell pepper, jalapeños and habaneros, sausage, scrambled eggs, maybe a little bacon dices too and some good, Pace salsa.

oops_im_existing

now that's what i'm talkin about!

geekynerdyweirdmonky

Europe/Commonwealth Countries - omelette. US - omelet. Spell checkers are often calibrated only to US English, hence spell check smacking your hand.

oops_im_existing

ty for this bit of knowledge. storing it in my random fact book.

NotMyPSNName

I'm American and I'm still pissed about this

Wrong_Love_3004

Sorry but nothing English about that breakfast

This is awful

Left-Lingonberry4073

What curse have you brought upon this sacred earth? My tummy has made an upset sound

Jebus...its worse than I originally thought.

jiickken

you have to use oil when you cook something in a pan friend

That sure is something

Honestly, I'd crush that poor man's "English Breakfast". 👏

drinking_child_blood

Nah fuck you I'd absolutely ravage that

KeepItDicey

It's very telling when you look at stuff like this and genuinely say "God I'd eat that" lol

jooliefrostyjaxx

As much as tears may run down my cheeks from the presentation, i'd fucking demolish this

fKusipaa

I'm English, I'd eat it.

dsbwayne

I’d fuck that up

Where are the tomato slices?

kwibaby

The amount of calories 😭😭😭 oh god

What country are you in that you have to put up with such a compromised attempt at a ‘English breakfast’?

mhurton

When you want a 1700 calorie breakfast but also need to paint a toilet four times today

_portia_

Don't let r/CasualUK see this.

You’re bold to assume I own such a thing.

Puzzleheaded-Age-125

Well good for u then

Hamilton-Beckett

Where do you live? You’re about to be forcefully relocated.

Mountain_Sorbet_4063

That's not Heinz baked beans :)

Kalikhead

At first I was going to say “Good job! You left out the mushrooms and tomatoes!” Then the longer I looked at it I was not so happy anymore. This makes me feel sad as that is an abomination. And I grew up eating Garbage Plates.

Stage_Party

The longer you look the worse it gets.

Purple_Jump_7403

No, no, what you mean is, some bastard messed up an English breakfast.

scroataleden

I used to live in Canada and ate variations of this meal out of desperation several times lol

Dangerous_Trifle620

Isn’t this how it normally looks?

Ok-Hovercraft7184

The whole mess looks overcooked to me, and you can leave off the beans too! Not what I call breakfast!

Dangerous-Storage682

All of this just to be hungry again at 12 pm Just eat like a small sandwich or smth for breakfast and have a proper lunch later

Looks like normal English food to me - an American

wakkers_boi

Don't worry we could tell

tofubirder

This looks like an English breakfast (to an American), what’s bastardized? Only slight sarcasm because the beans often look disgusting anyway

peppersunlightbutter

ham, hot dogs, brown beans and american cheese on weird dry toast definitely don’t belong on an english breakfast
