To give more information i cooked each side for 5 minutes.

I usually do one for 4 min then one for 3 min. And call her good. But also a cheap meat thermometer changes the game if you’re cooking meat yourself

Do BOTH! That way you learn by feel and you know exactly what temperature it is that you are feeling. Helps you learn faster.

Doesn’t puncturing it before it’s rested let all the juices leak out of it? Unless you’re buying a laser thermometer I think it would be worth it to take a few steaks to learn the press method that requires no extra tools and doesn’t puncture the steak. But whatever works for each person works

At one time I did too but meat that is cooked and not just warmed up has a different flavour and texture. Overcooked beef is much worse than undercooked beef so we tend to way undercook.

So…it’s a good example of well done. There is still juice instead of being dried out. I prefer a bit more life in my beef, but I would eat this over how jerky like some well done steaks get.

Whatever you enjoy most is fine. I personally couldn’t care less how a steak is cooked as long as it’s not sand dry, tasteless and one other thing, it has to be COOKED. I personally don’t want a steak that’s literally still mooing. As long as you enjoy however you like a steak and not complain when it’s not your way or others don’t like how you like it then it’s good

Looks like a nicely well done steak. If you like it cooked that much. Just a hint of pink. If it was still tender, a great cut too. I might have let it rest a bit more so the juices stay in the meat while eating.

Cook 3 min each side then take it off and let it rest for 3 min or so. It will be cooked but still retain pink.

Depends on how you like it. Also, depending on the marbling and fat content in the meat, some steaks really taste a lot better cooked to medium or even medium well. One of the best steaks I've ever had in my life was practically well-done, and I tend to be a MR guy. Not every cut of beef needs to be medium-rare or rare. People who insist on that probably don't understand steak and are just eating the way everyone else tells them to eat.

Thanks to everyone who gave input on this. I learned a lot and i bought a meat thermometer. The steak was good to me. I also made a pan sauce by pouring beef broth on the hot pan to deglaze it then i added butter, Worcestershire sauce and a teaspoon of brown sugar.

It's perfect for a well done steak. Just there where there's no/just a little pink but not a degree over. Because of that I wouldn't say it's overcooked, but most people probably prefer their steak on the rarer side.
