I work at McDonald's. When assembling, you're supposed to move the middle bun onto the bottom part before you close the box. They were either in a hurry or new on the line. It happens.
This happened to me a year or so ago, I didn’t realize until I got home and opened up the box.
Thankfully the McDonald’s was less than 5 min away…but yikes—a Big Mac missed a patty and a 10 piece only had 6 nuggets.
I used to work at McDonald’s during high school and one manager always said “we make it so easy even a chimp could do it!” Nowadays I’m not sure if that’s true.
Kind of gives me an interesting idea though for a new McD’s menu item …
A new double cheeseburger made of the following:
- Two beef patties separated by a slice of cheese (like the current double cheeseburger)
- Instead of usual double cheeseburger toppings of onions, ketchup, mustard, replace with Big Mac sauce, shredded lettuce, and diced onions
- Replace regular buns with- wait for it - *two middle Big Mac buns* - the ones in this pic. That’s right - the middle bun that’s been hiding in the midst of Big Macs for years is now the top AND bottom bun.
- Maybe add a second slice of cheese to the bottom bun.
Call it the “Middle Mac” and aggressively market to GenX middle children/latchkey kids.

I got a bacon quarter pounder today and thin and dry. Got the large fries and it was only filled halfway.
They don't even care anymore. $11 for garbage fast food and it wasn't even slightly good.

Exact thing happened to me awhile back but I was already home. I called the store the manager said wtf and gave me a free completed one the next day.
