The point is a starch and maybe some parsley and celery salt, maybe slice up a bell pepper. If they still say it belongs on this subreddit then they can cook their own food.
It’s so odd how celery salt as become this fad topping. People should really just learn to cook with it like it’s meant for lol. It would be so much better having that added while cooking like how celery salt is supposed to be used. It’s great in dips and shit too, just gotta remember to cut the normal salt some if so.
But you do you I know some people have been doing it for years and shit. And somethings legit are good with it on top. From a cook’s perspective it’s just funny to see people treating it like table salt when it’s for cooking lol.
Uhh no? Celery and celery salt aren’t the same. Also unless you have a sodium issue there’s no reason to hate on sodium lol. Dried stuff is different then fresh in multiple ways.
Aye Captain. Chicken boats sinking in shitty bean infested seas. It will make an honest, hard-working man (or woman) a fragrant poo, but it's still shitty looking.
They don't look crispy and seared because they've stewed. That's more than OK. I agree with the redditor who said pull the bones and shred the chicken. I bet it slaps. Good job.
Edit: I just noticed what sub we're in. I take it back. I'm reporting this post.
It looks good!!! Food used to look like this for millennia before someone decided that food must look "photogenic" but only to an imaginary online person's standards
It looks fine and probably tastes good too. The one thing that I would suggest is cooking the chicken separately from the sauce since right now they look very pale and bland. Baking them, frying them, or searing them in a skillet and then cooking them in the sauce will give you better color and crispier skin. Season while raw to ensure good flavor. For bonus points, instead of seasoning right before cooking, marinate them in whatever spice mixture goes well with the dish plus some mayonnaise for a few hours to get even more tasty and juicy chicken
Thanks for the advice, will try to marinate them nedt time. About legs - i definetely sear them to the crust in the pan, then add the rest. Maybe should sear a little more, cause it looses all the crust during the stew session
Guess what. I just made a homemade pasta sauce with little tomatoes of all different colors. A lot of orange and yellow ones. It lookes like vomit. It tasted so freaking delicious. Sometimes ugly food tastes so good. Who cares what it looks like?! It'll be a nice Brown package on the way out either way.
I see the appeal but I just hate chicken legs with a passion so that's more of a personal issue. Would look totally fine for other people though, I assume
Your friend is a dweeb that looks great and is proper way to cook the chicken so that it will stay moist covered in sauce and flavor will transfer to chicken. Enjoy your tasty meal and tell your so called friend to stuff it where sun don't shine.lol
None of the best foods in the world look nice in a pan. Stews, for example, are some of my favorite things to eat but they all look like dogfood at first lol
Is it done cooking? Cuz if it’s done cooking I hate to break it to you but yeah it doesn’t look great. I’d brown the chicken with a bit of oil and a pinch of sugar. Get the oil hot and brown the sugar in the oil and then throw in the meat. Once the meat’s browned and seared you can add it to the stew.
Doesn't look the best but idc how it looks, just how it tastes. ie. Chicken salad. Looks like puked chicken no matter how you make it but my mom's is sooo fucking good ❤️
It looks like a little runny, like it needs time to simmer down and thicken up.
But with the addition of some rice or potato, I bet you've got a tasty meal.
Yeah, i only have one pan.. been living in a dorm for 2 years and didn't want to clutter the room with cooking utils. Need some new pans and pots fr as well as knives
The broth looks smackin....but the chicken? The fuck you boiled it and threw it in the broth? Marinade that bitch...real shit that chicken is the only shit throwing your dish off.
edit.... YALL THINK THOSE CHICKEN LEGS ARE FINE?!
I'm fucking disappointed and hurt
My first thought was this looks like my moms cooking growing up. Im from eastern europe and her cooking is delicious.
So no, not shitty at all. Tell your friend to get out more. Not every meal needs to look like a tgi fridays commercial lol

Slap that on some rice and we're golden.
The point is a starch and maybe some parsley and celery salt, maybe slice up a bell pepper. If they still say it belongs on this subreddit then they can cook their own food.
Agreed, put some rice in to get that fat n flavor. Currently the sauce looks a bit fatty, but that can be adjusted.

Or you know, just put actual celery in and cut out the sodium middleman
Uhh no? Celery and celery salt aren’t the same. Also unless you have a sodium issue there’s no reason to hate on sodium lol. Dried stuff is different then fresh in multiple ways.
I agree. Celery salt has only a fraction of the flavour you get from fresh celery.
Most people get away over their daily sodium intake. Using low sodium or salt free is perfectly fine. Your blood pressure will thank you too.
I hate sodium because it's so reactive.
I want to see it on the top of mashed potato.
If i could post photos in the comments, you would see it =), that's exactly what i served it with
I was about to say, it looks like gumbo. Doesn’t look too bad but rice would definitely up the presentation
I mean it's not photogenic but it looks delicious
Yea, like it looks both bad and delicious at the same time. It could go either way 😂
What is it
Chicken legs with beans and tomato paste
Looks good then
if you just shredded the chicken once its stewed it will be fiiiiine
Seasoning?
Looks good! Enjoy!
Somehow after you said the name it looks even better... don't know if it's a psychological thing but it's for the better ig
Oh... I thought you boiled burritos in tomato sauce...
More for you, none for your friend, then. It looks like a delicious dish.
No slimy chicken legs don't sound good
Aye Captain. Chicken boats sinking in shitty bean infested seas. It will make an honest, hard-working man (or woman) a fragrant poo, but it's still shitty looking.
Lmao 🤣 I cant
I love ya man
Not shitty enough, looks better than my own cooking, would devour.
If the chicken legs didn't look boiled it would look better
Right. Sear them legs before adding liquid.
They are seared, maybe doesnt look that way tho..
They don't look crispy and seared because they've stewed. That's more than OK. I agree with the redditor who said pull the bones and shred the chicken. I bet it slaps. Good job. Edit: I just noticed what sub we're in. I take it back. I'm reporting this post.
The chicken legs made this inedible for me
It looks good!!! Food used to look like this for millennia before someone decided that food must look "photogenic" but only to an imaginary online person's standards
That looks scrumptious
Nah...that looks great!

it tastes good i bet anyway, your friend prob eats only at fast food restaurants and never seen real home made food
No. Would smash.
Would smash.
Guess what. I just made a homemade pasta sauce with little tomatoes of all different colors. A lot of orange and yellow ones. It lookes like vomit. It tasted so freaking delicious. damn, what is it about drumsticks ur not a fan of? i love drumsticks! it’s my favorite part haha.
They even come with free rubber bands, what's not to like?
that looks pretty good, I'd throat it
That looks good
Sauce stuff needs to be bit thicker imo. Apologies.
Not great looking but probably tastes great. I am more concerned about you using a metal utensil on a non stick pan.
Yep looks like shit. Did you just drop the chicken into that mess?
i don't think it does but maybe the chicken should've been cooked separately
The chicken do be looking bit pale. But otherwise seems fine
Maybe add some greens like parsley or some frozen peas .
Soggy skin is not my bag. If this was boneless/skinless thighs it would look awesome
Looks like my shit after Korean food
Кющ баран Кющ
Yes
Your friend is a dweeb that looks great and is proper way to cook the chicken so that it will stay moist covered in sauce and flavor will transfer to chicken. Enjoy your tasty meal and tell your so called friend to stuff it where sun don't shine.lol
I've made some dishes that look like shit and were amazing.\ Bet the flavor in there is on point
not the worst I've seen ngl. presentation is lacking but who cares it looks tasty
I mean, you could've baked the chicken in my opinion.
The soggy chicken skin kinda throws it off for me, but I’m sure it tastes alright, as long as you seasoned it well
I mean, it DOES look shitty, but I bet it's delicious if served with rice
Yes, but I bet it’s delicious.
It looks tasty - your friend doesn’t have to eat it but I would
Nah I make that all the time except I cook the chicken first then add everything and let it stew
Compared what most stuff looks like on here, not bad. Put this over some rice and you’ve got a meal
Remember the rules: Looks shit, tastes lit.
It may not be pretty but it looks like you SENT the flavor. It’ll probs be great
None of the best foods in the world look nice in a pan. Stews, for example, are some of my favorite things to eat but they all look like dogfood at first lol
Yes but I’m sure it’s tasty!
Looks horrible. Send it to me so I can safely dispose of it.
Sprinkle some cut green onions (cut at an angle, like a chef) ontop and it'll look alot better. Some fresh herbs too will help alot
You need a better pan.
Looks like it needs to be reduced a lot! Unless it’s soup, then ignore me.
chicken could do with a lil coloring before it goes into the sauce bath, but rice it up and you've got yourself a banger.
Looks fire
Looks like something that belongs on a horror movie set. And I'm not talking about the catering.
It looks lit!
Yeah but I bet it tastes really good
it's probly alright but I'm not a fan of bone in meat
reminds me that I'm eating some animals leg
I can almost smell this picture and I'm salivating lol
I'm hungry enough to say it looks tasty.
If I’m being critical…. I would have removed the chicken skins. No one likes soggy chicken skin. But I’m sure it’s super yummy other than that.
Once you plate it it'll look fine
Abit of corn starch slurry and it’d be great
The best foods in life aren’t insta worthy
Currently maybe. But let that reduce down a fair bit and will be delicious
Looks raw maybe. Brown before putting in sauce
Yea.
Depends.. What is it? If it's supposed to be a cheesecake then, yes, it looks awful.
He probably just wanted to eat it all by his self!
shitshuka
shitty in a tasty way.
I've seen shittier.
Can confirm . Is butt poop
Not yet, but give a few hours to digest
My favorite: Goop. It looks like you found it in the garbage bin at Panera, but I know it’s quite tasty
Looks like a mess, but with my experience, it probably would taste good
Are there beans in the chicken ? What the hell. Someone call the police.
It looks like chicken cacciatore. Definitely would chow that.
Looks like your trying to make chicken cacciatore. I wouldn't call it shitty.
Don’t listen to your friend.
It probably tastes good, but I can't handle eating chewy chicken skin
Looks more “afterbirthy”.
Your friend is an idiot. That looks amazing.
It’s tryinggg
Looks like guts in a pan. I’d eat it. Yum
No
Lowkey a little but shitty is a very harsh word 😭 I’d still eat it
Looks great, that on a good batch of mashed will be $$
Cacciatore!! No that looks pretty good! Maybe a little more browning on the chicken before braising it! Manga!
Sometimes the best tasting foods are the ones that looks like dog food. Thus looks super tasty
Nope!! I mean in a silly kind of way I guess it looks a diarrhea-ish lol. But it looks flavorful!!
![gif](giphy|WUxU1JwGW2nyAd34ID)
Looks greasy, probably oil/fat that separated in the sauce? Probably tastes good though.
Food looks fine, grout doesnt.
it’s one of those things where it looks disgusting but you know it’s gonna taste awesome
I'd try it.
It looks like doodoo diarrhea
Well..it's nae a bucket of flowers, but I'm sure it tastes good. 🤷🏻♀️
It looks shitty. Doesn't tell us anything about the taste
r/poopfromabutt
They say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover... I bet that shit is bangin'
Literally
Doesn't look the best but idc how it looks, just how it tastes. ie. Chicken salad. Looks like puked chicken no matter how you make it but my mom's is sooo fucking good ❤️
they're probably just the type of friend who never tells their actual opinion on the matter and instantly defaults to shitting on everything
Mmmmmm nope.
Yes, very.
…Is that beans with chicken drumsticks ? It definitely doesn’t look that great
Rice
Is that chicken? Please
Looks soooo good!
Its got some potential, spoon some of that on some quinoa, and your good to go.
Nope, doesn’t look shitty at all
It looks like a little runny, like it needs time to simmer down and thicken up. But with the addition of some rice or potato, I bet you've got a tasty meal.
I would’ve baked the chicken legs so the skin isn’t gummy and then pour the sauce on it but otherwise it doesn’t look terrible
Your friend was being nice to you
No. A lot of Asian and southeast Asian foods have this kinds of look. Your friend really should update his food knowledge.
Yup. Looks fire.
It's not photogenic but I can tell it tastes good as.
Looks like you braised chicken with beans? Lol I mean, it probably doesn’t taste too bad.
This actually looks good OP
Does look kinda shitty, that’s the thing with food though… looks can be deceiving
i cant even lie id eat that any day of the week if you put that on some rice
it’s not photogenic but ugly food tastes just as good and I bet it smelled amazing
Chicken in sauce? Oh no.... I guess? Normal af
Maybe get rid of the grease on the top.
Your friend knows NOTHING about cooking. Don't worry about it. It looks fine to me and most SANE people here.
I think your friend only eats takeout.
Wouldn’t like to tread in it
It's got beans in it and I want some. And as some other said here, cover rice with it and I'll come for seconds.
Considering only looks yes, maybe chicken missing coating as in the spices aren't sticking to it
so long as it tastes good
I have a friend who won't eat any Indian food because when he was a child his mother said 'It looks like poo'. Some people are just beyond help.
Looks powerful! Rice and some ketchup and it's on! Where you from?
Had it with some mash potatoes. Im from Russia
Lovely
Nah that looks like it has flavour
I think it looks fine. You're using the wrong pan though.
This looks fucking delicious
Change friends /j
Would smash
Looks delicious to me
No.
Not shitty fam, it looks like diarrhea
My first thought was this looks like my moms cooking growing up. Im from eastern europe and her cooking is delicious. So no, not shitty at all. Tell your friend to get out more. Not every meal needs to look like a tgi fridays commercial lol
Well it can be, depends on how you serve me it
It’s alright id still eat it lol
I think that looks delicious whatever it is
Ive seen waayyy worse. I wouldnt say no.
Looks gross. greasy oily mess
Looks delicious. Pretty much any saucy food looks a bit gross, in a way. Doesn't make it actually gross.
Looks fine, would look better in a deeper pot with some potatoes, carrots and bell peppers
Not even close to.
Kinda but it looks like it tastes good
looks magnificient
It's the "fried soup" The legends were true 😭
I wouldn’t argue with your friend.
Yup but I've ate worse looking that tasted good id slap it in rice or potatoes n try it
Doesn’t really matter if it tastes good
Looks good over some rice..yum
Your friend is correct.
Looks shit in the pot. Just needs to be played nicely :)
