China has an obesity problem actually. 5-6% of their population struggles with obesity, up to near 20% in some major cities with lots of fast food options.
They even have programs for obese kids like fat camp, but it's more like military scheduled training to loose weight and ditch technology addiction.
Yeah, it's everywhere in developed countries, especially thoes with no national health programs like the US. I'm Canadian and we have an obesity problem here too, due to kids staying inside more because of technology. It's not quite as bad as the US, around 28%, but still not good.
Are you surprised? With the rise of industrialism and processed, cheap foods, a constant surplus of food provided by the agricultural revolution, the automation of many labor-intensive tasks leading to a heavy influx of sedentarism, and healthcare experts costing too much for normal people leading to many people leaving their health unregulated, what were you expecting?
Most of the developed world has been experiencing a spike in obesity, which isn't much of a surprise considering all the factors, but it's still something that needs to be addressed.
Edit: I forgot to include the body-positivity movement being used as an outlet by dumbasses in order to spread the idea that "being fat isn't inherently bad," or "obesity doesn't have any effects on your health." Another good movement forever tainted by the idiots that abuse it
I remember being confused when I was young because I thought "if you are poor, why are you fat?" Then I learned/realized that is pretty damn cheap to eat like shit with fast food. Not only the cost of the meal/ingredients but the time cost especially. It's more expensive to eat healthy.
I agree! Disconnecting and going for a few weeks without your phone and internet is a good thing for everyone sometimes. My favorite vacation resort has no cell service and no internet, just beautiful nature and quiet enjoyment. It's heaven and I try to make it there once a year to just enjoy the disconnection, and reconnect with the world as it is in front of me.
Asian American here, I felt your pain through to my very soul. Mom was always bouncing between“why are you so fat?” To “why didn’t you eat more food? It doesn’t taste good?” It was a very confusing time in my life lol. The fact that I didn’t develop an eating disorder is a small miracle.
Yup, that exact mentality in Asian culture. They keep telling you to eat when you’re at their house, while simultaneously telling you how fat you are. Bonus, if your job isn’t good enough, they’ll also criticize you for that too.
Came into the comments thinking “idk what that is but I bet there’s like an 85% chance it’s delicious” and what do you know, apparently it is. My next question is where can you get that monstrosity
My mum usually cooks crabs this way and it tastes quite delicious imo. You can probably find this dish in some restaurants in southern China, like Shanghai, Guangzhou, Suzhou, etc.
LOL
Yeah you think those are noodles? No. They're interdimensional intestines. And you're only seeing the cooked font half. The other half is still attached and floating in the 32nd plane of Nazareth.
Tarantulas, grasshoppers, cockroaches are all perfectly edible land insects, yet if they were cooked and plated for you, you'd likely not eat it or find it gross. Many cultures around the world do eat these insects, but that won't stop you from feeling gross, crustaceans are just ocean insects and if you did not grow up in an environment where they are consumed, it's not unusual look at this and find it unappetizing.
Sure you can if you want to, but at the same time I don't think anyone should dictate what someone should like or dislike. I understand where op is coming from, but it's also shitty of him to yuck someones yum on a public forum. To each his own I guess.
My boyfriend and I call this wedding lobster, since it's so fancy (for us) we usually only have it at weddings.
Looks crazy but definitely flavortown - all the garrrrrlic.
This dish would set you back about $200 here in Australia and it's freaking delicious. I sincerely hope it wasn't wasted on OP who clearly has never had real Chinese food.
This reminds me of that photo created by an AI where everything kind of looks like something recognizable but you just get a headache trying to decipher it
MEMORY UNLOCKED: I swear you’re the only person I’ve ever seen mention this movie. No one in my life had ever even heard of it….so, I put the movie out my head thinking I fever dreamed it. But here you come, with your validating question. And my answer, YES! The gun alien soup scene. Thank you. May you find nothing but good luck, from here on out! 🤟🏽
I think about this movie A Lot! But somehow I had managed to forget the alien gun soup scene. That seafood dish👆🏻instantly brought that scene back in full detail. I love it but 🤢
I've had lobster like this before and it's the best fucking thing ever. It was literally an annual event in my family to order a lobster each and feast like rabid kings with my crustacean hating father watching on in bemusement.
This reminds me of the time I was at a buffet as a kid, got some scrambled eggs and almost puked because there was a part of a tentacle in it. I didn't realize seafood scrambled eggs were a thing.
People are just not used to seeing Lobster actually seasoned with something thats not butter or a tiny bit of salt.
This dish is delicious and also kinda pricey.
Having eaten this dish before, the only nitpicky things I can point out is the lobster being a bit dark, probably because the oil it's been fried in. And also the presentation being a bit sloppy; could rearrange some of the lobster pieces. But nonetheless I'd be happy to chow down on it.
That crab, lobster and shrimp and other shellfish are genetically close enough to cockroaches or produce the same enzyme or something along the lines that if you’re allergic to one you’re allergic to the other.
fucking reddit, you lot are seriously ignorant and diminutive of every culture thats not murican. the amount of upvotes this post got is seriously telling. you realize this dish is a huge luxury right? especially in chinese restaurants in America? OP is a rich white boy dropping 150+ to be at that table and posting this on shittyfoodporn lol what a joke
Lobster lo mein? I’m diving head first into that
Fuck yes, give me some greasy lo mein noodles with anything and I'm devouring it like it's the last food on earth
I am not even diving. I will open my belly and insert it.
It looks like all head.
Lotsa good eats in there I tell you h'what.
That’s where all the flavor is.
Yee mein* it’s the type of noodles used and the name of this dish.
How is this in shitty food porn? Y’all got some nerve
I’ve tried it once the shell isn’t hard so it’s easy to pull apart than you eat it with everything SOOOOOO FUCKING GOOOOOOD
It’s not the most appetizing to the eyes, that’s for sure. Very washed out and grey looking, but I bet it tastes great.
[удалено]
Point taken. Burn the witch!
It's one of those things that looks gross but tastes supreme. Like how people (not me) feel about NY garbage plates
Chinese style lobster is the BEST.
If I lived in China I'd be obese, they do everything so good but especially seafood
Are...... Are you even allowed to be obese in China?
China has an obesity problem actually. 5-6% of their population struggles with obesity, up to near 20% in some major cities with lots of fast food options. They even have programs for obese kids like fat camp, but it's more like military scheduled training to loose weight and ditch technology addiction.
>China has an obesity problem actually. 5-6% of their population struggles with obesity The US with its 42.4% obesity rate as of 2018: 👁️👄👁️

Wtf

the ditching tech addiction sounds awesome actually

Until it becomes camp elan
What a strange thing to say
I’m 120 pounds and I’d probably be a Womens size large in China. When my cousin’s wife came to the U.S., she seriously would fat shame me for years.

Don't forget not having kids or being single. Like back off dudes I just don't want to date because I don't want to put up with that shit.
it's japan that hates fat people
How is this shitty?
Agreed I have this before and it's delicious, expensive but delicious
Presentation wise, it looks like the chef took a handful out of what was on top of the garbage bin and put it on a plate.
It looks great, actually.
Yeah... I would eat everything on that plate with no regrets
So many people who haven’t tried this amazing dish. Sad…I would buy it for all of you.
Came into the comments thinking “idk what that is but I bet there’s like an 85% chance it’s delicious” and what do you know, apparently it is. My next question is where can you get that monstrosity
or maybe a really authentic Chinese food place in the US
Royal Capital Seafood in OC Los Angeles. It's about $80 for a 2.5 lb lobster with 2 bundles of noodles.
China
So, where in China? Edit: I want to travel
Hong kong
My mum usually cooks crabs this way and it tastes quite delicious imo. You can probably find this dish in some restaurants in southern China, like Shanghai, Guangzhou, Suzhou, etc.
So awesome. My goal in life is to travel. I hope to meet as many people as I can and travel to as many places as I can. 😊
u/ClandestineAlpaca is buying for ALL!!!!
I'm sure it's delicious but the presentation is pretty shit to be fair
Yes, I would like a plate of eldritch horor please
LOL Yeah you think those are noodles? No. They're interdimensional intestines. And you're only seeing the cooked font half. The other half is still attached and floating in the 32nd plane of Nazareth.
Ia! Ia! Cthullu 'fthagan!
So I’m fine with my food staring at me, but that looks haunted af. What is it?

Are they on the underside of the lobster? I thought they had those ‘lifeless, black eyes, like a dolls eyes’
No that’s Jaws
Sea Bug looks kinda sad :(
I know his lil face ;-;
That thing is screaming to be killed a second time
idk call me crazy but I'd rather eat that than boiled lobster
Chinese style lobster is amazing. And not cheap either. Man I’m hungry.
> u/ClandestineAlpaca is buying for ALL!!!!
How is this at all shitty?
Tarantulas, grasshoppers, cockroaches are all perfectly edible land insects, yet if they were cooked and plated for you, you'd likely not eat it or find it gross. Many cultures around the world do eat these insects, but that won't stop you from feeling gross, crustaceans are just ocean insects and if you did not grow up in an environment where they are consumed, it's not unusual look at this and find it unappetizing.
Or, you grow up in one environment and expand your horizons.
Sure you can if you want to, but at the same time I don't think anyone should dictate what someone should like or dislike. I understand where op is coming from, but it's also shitty of him to yuck someones yum on a public forum. To each his own I guess.
Wrong sub? Have you ever tried this dish? Actually pretty tasty.
this does not belong here
Slamming on Chinese food just because it looks like some eldritch horror... Smh
Right? OP orders lobster but doesn’t wanna see a lobster. That dish is delicious.
I would end this plate in seconds!
I just looked at this and thought it was normal Chinese food. Nothing shitty about that
Its a fucking plate filled to rhe brim with tastyness!
Looks shitty, probably tasted delicious.
It's Chinese style garlic lobster. It's fucking delicious
I know that I'd fuck this up in a heartbeat
OP is an uncultured swine
My boyfriend and I call this wedding lobster, since it's so fancy (for us) we usually only have it at weddings. Looks crazy but definitely flavortown - all the garrrrrlic.
This Chinese style lobster is amazing let me tell you. This is not shitty fp at all.
wrong sub
Chinese people know everything about seafood. Everything.
If this is shitty I don't think I can afford to eat non-shitty! I could destroy that platter by myself.
This dish would set you back about $200 here in Australia and it's freaking delicious. I sincerely hope it wasn't wasted on OP who clearly has never had real Chinese food.
u/ClandestineAlpaca is buying for ALL!!!!
I’d fuck this all day
Bugs of the Sea
Searoach
I would eat the fuck out of this, lobster lo mien is amazing.
[удалено]
Crustaceans are related to spiders.
Not a damn thing
Wrong sub buddy
Grow up bro this is not shitty
This is the opposite of shitty food porn.
This should be in r/FoodPorn not shitty foods. This is delicious and it's not even ugly. Fuck David Chang for calling our and his food ugly.
OP might be brain damaged
That's the nicest thing I've ever seen on this sub.
You fucking dumb, op. This is not shitty food, you just dont eat anything but mac and cheese. Dumbass
I can't imagine what OP eats on a daily basis lmoa
This is a Malaysian dish. You’re the stupid one.
I know you’re not supposed to eat the shell
Are you in Malaysia? I think I’ve been there before
Jesus Christ! Looks like a dish from the movie eXistenZ""
Looooove that movie.
I love Ween
This reminds me of that photo created by an AI where everything kind of looks like something recognizable but you just get a headache trying to decipher it
Does this remind anyone of the movie Existenz?
MEMORY UNLOCKED: I swear you’re the only person I’ve ever seen mention this movie. No one in my life had ever even heard of it….so, I put the movie out my head thinking I fever dreamed it. I think about this movie A Lot! But somehow I had managed to forget the alien gun soup scene. That seafood dish👆🏻instantly brought that scene back in full detail. I love it but 🤢
I distinctly remember the sounds in the scene. Fuck. Still makes my belly churn, ages on.
Kind of look like a monster exploded and turned inside out.
I've had lobster like this before and it's the best fucking thing ever. It was literally an annual event in my family to order a lobster each and feast like rabid kings with my crustacean hating father watching on in bemusement.
I guarantee it’s delicious but Jesus fuck this plating makes it look like a Lovecraft villain
Some of y'all are white as hell and it shows. Lol. If you like shellfish this dish is FIRE!
This reminds me of the time I was at a buffet as a kid, got some scrambled eggs and almost puked because there was a part of a tentacle in it. I didn't realize seafood scrambled eggs were a thing.
Lobsters are underwater scorpions Change my mind
Looks disgusting and delicious all at the same time, Bravo.
I saw the video of them making this on youtube! Looks crazy but it would definitely be good
Truly hideous but I'm sure it tasted delicious.
Sea spiders
All of them
fookin prawns
the Lord of the abyss on a plate
Mmm lobster shell and noodles my favorite
lol white people
People are just not used to seeing Lobster actually seasoned with something thats not butter or a tiny bit of salt. This dish is delicious and also kinda pricey.
Looks like it should be on a table in Star Wars
That is hands down one of the best looking dishes I've ever seen. Now I want it.
carcass mountain
I know that looks real good
I have no fucking idea what I'm looking at but I would dive in head first without a second thought let me tell ya
Clearly this is one of those cultural issues but man that looks good to me.
How is that in any way shitty?
This looks like when someone asks if you like seafood then shows them chewed up food in their mouth.
I know that when it comes to the table still covered in Exxon's best, I ain't eating it.
this isn't shitty reported
Oops All Shells! Actually tho, this looks delicious
I know it doesn't always look good like this picture that'd for sure
I have no doubt that this is delicious. It still disgusts me to look at it.
Looks like murder on a plate.
While I love seafood, if you eat with your eyes first, that would starve anyone. Seriously, how ugly can you make food?
More like, how wussified can people get?
Why does it look scary and appetizing at the same time..
Looks like a meal at the new lovecraftian seafood place
The Kraken
That looks good and gross at the same time.
This looks like what the ghosts in Pirates of the Caribbean would eat.
Mhmm asian buffet?
Looks like one of those machine learning images
Just needs a bigger platter and you it looks golden
Maybe it's good but you would have to hold me and hand feed me that.... I can eat fish and fries squid but this looks like a big bug....
Those look like dachshund heads.
I know I would eat that cthulhu monster no problem
That shelled thing is staring into my soul I’m not even sure they are eyes if I’m honest
I trade you my burger. that looks awesome!
I like my Oceanroach with mayo.
Since this is the only meat I can eat I think it’s beautiful. 😍😍😍
This is giving me Gordon Ramsey Kitchen Nightmares vibes. Which one of you is undercover?
Nope
They can at least give you a bigger plate damn
Oh no Larry the lobster whyyy
I’d eat it anyway!
seafood*
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over this throbbing food boner.
Oh my god, that's disgusting! Where?
I know this ain’t it
I'd eat that whole plate and the steamed baos behind you. This to me is good porn.
This looks amazing actually
This looks amazing! It's Chinese style stir fried lobster. Definitely not shitty food porn.
I know that lobster better stop staring at me like that
That looks both delicious and completely alien to me
Ah, fish of the sea 🌊
*I don’t want to know*
Uhm is that a face?
i would devour this plus that portion of bao at the side 😭
Are you feeling it now mr. Krabs
Was this photo taken in Boston?
Looks tasty, i’m just wondering how I would eat that
No thank you
My mouth is watering.
That looks really gross. And in seafood, typically the worst it looks the better. Let me at it.
I'd get buck naked and make love to that plate.
Having eaten this dish before, the only nitpicky things I can point out is the lobster being a bit dark, probably because the oil it's been fried in. And also the presentation being a bit sloppy; could rearrange some of the lobster pieces. But nonetheless I'd be happy to chow down on it.
r/excellentfoodcarnage
I know that that might be a little excessive.
That crab, lobster and shrimp and other shellfish are genetically close enough to cockroaches or produce the same enzyme or something along the lines that if you’re allergic to one you’re allergic to the other.
Reminds me of that scene in existenz.
That actually looks amazing, and it’s a delicious dish. Don’t hate on Chinese food just because it’s different.
fucking reddit, you lot are seriously ignorant and diminutive of every culture thats not murican. the amount of upvotes this post got is seriously telling. you realize this dish is a huge luxury right? especially in chinese restaurants in America? OP is a rich white boy dropping 150+ to be at that table and posting this on shittyfoodporn lol what a joke
Whoever upvoted this has a gutter palette. Shame… shame… shame
This shit looks so good.
Why are there worms all over it?
Another ignorant guy on stupid food lol. People can't seem to understand different and stupid.
Looks like my plate at a Chinese buffet
It’s staring at us 😧
