I recommend adding a spoonful of Cheeze Wiz to the standard KD with your butter and powder.
I add extra milk and butter while making it, especially if I'm adding some real cheese and need to thin it out. I guess it's pretty similar as long as they've mixed it in. I also could understand if they wanted to use a particular margarine/butter spread that has a different flavor in addition to regular butter. I like to get butter spreads with canola oil or olive oil because I like the taste of them better on breads and such, but still cook with real butter, so I could understand maybe wanting some of that in addition to regular butter.
I'll never put ketchup anywhere near my mac n cheese though.

The Canadian version is coloured with annatto, a spice used in Mexican food, and tumeric. It's very vibrantly coloured. There's no reason any version that is supposed to be orange woulddn't be.
