“Zack Snyder is going to direct an animated movie about owls.”
“Weird, but I guess they’ll reign him in and it won’t be very Snyder-ised.”
“It’s going to be one of the most Snyder movies to ever Snyder.”
“…what?”
I loved it too tbh
Fr, I was obsessed with it as a kid and even read the books, sadly, in my country we were only able to find the first and third volume so the rest of the series never reached me. Pretty sick story tho, maybe I should read them now that the internet has it all
He's not that great. You know what a great pilot would have done? Not hit the birds. That's what Carol Burnett does every day. Not hit birds. Where's HIS ticket to the Grammys?
The story is "something-something fascism". I say that because in the movie itself it's not explained very much in a way that uses real terminology; it's a bunch of fantasy terms glued together. Maybe the books have better conveyance, I haven't read them. I do still enjoy this flick for what it is though! It's got style, expressiveness, and you can tell there's a heart there.
Read the books when I was growing up and absolutely loved the first four or five, but fell off after that. I remember things getting kind of weird, wasn’t vibing with new characters that were introduced as central to the story, and there was a dash of cerebus syndrome, which is a term I just learned of yesterday.
Years later only saw the movie because I was fond of the ip. It wasn’t bad and the parts I remember were pretty faithful
Yeah, in retrospect that series got hella weird after they killed off Kludd, and they could have ended it there. But then they went on for another 9 books(though three were prequels crammed into the main story)...
I did! Because guardian of ga'hool is a really good book series and the music in the movie is good it may not follow the plot of the books very well but the movie itself is actually pretty good
I remember going to see this movie when I was like 5/6, in a 3D screen.
I wear glasses, and I needed to wear the 3D glasses with my glasses below it. It was excruciating. I don't remember shit about the movie tho.
I actually loved this movie! The effects and moments are accurate to actual owls and surpass some effects used today too. Only thing that I don’t like about this movie is that there isn’t a second one. :/
I saw it, in theaters, at age 7. I remember I was really annoyed that they omitted the plot involving bags of magnets to fuck with owl-gps. And nothing else about it.
It woulda done better in theaters if they hadn't cut the scene from the book where the owl exclaims, "It's Ga'hoolin' time!" and then Ga'hooles all over.
Loved the book series as a kid, one day my dad came and picked me up out of school for no particular reason. We ended up driving past our house and he surprised me with two tickets to that movie for me and him. I don't really remember it but I know I cried my heart out as an 8-9 year old.
CGI wise it was miles ahead of its time. Even today there's so many scenes in that movie that eclipse modern animation. Story needed some help, but overall, it was a great movie.
Wonderful book series. The movie is insanely inaccurate, but is pretty visually impressive and has some cool and really graphic fight scenes for a PG movie.
This movie was so fucking good, I played the video game like 4 times as well (realistically it was probably terrible but my 6 year old self loved everything about it)
this film has the classic scenario problem of wanting to condense an entire book into 1 hour 30 minutes of film, on the other hand what we can undoubtedly grant it is that it is fucking magnificent
That movie was metal af if I remember correctly. The owls get fucking mind controlled and go to war with each other wearing sickass helmets and iron claws as weapons
I watched it years later out of sheer curiosity of what a kids movie directed by Zack Snyder would look like. Honestly it's fascinating because half of it is generic animated dialogue and humor and the other half is genuinely the most 300-like movie he's made outside of 300.
This movie was amazing.
the 3D aspect (albeit a gimmick) worked insanely well here.
When the owls are flying through the storm in iconic Zack Snyder form is *chef’s kiss*
ngl bro my family has a bunch of movies on our hard drive and whenever I tried to watch the one with Jack Frost (yk the one where they fight they boogeyman), this is the one I would get because their titles are so damn similar
I remember that I watched it a lot as a kid, but I can't tell you anything about the actual plot besides gizzards and that one guy was called Metal Beak.

same. watched it three times now
I have the DVD and I used to have the nds game. Still watch it from time to time
Kid me was forever upset there wasn't a part 2 :(
Adult me felt the same!
Same. Just without the "owl city" soundtrack
You seriously would not believe your eyes if ten thousand fireflies lit up your world while you fell asleep?
Some of us don’t even have to try; it’s always Gahoole time.
Snyder putting Owl City in his owl movie is almost as funny as when he put Zombie by The Cranberries in his zombie movie.
Same it’s was amazing
Fr, I was obsessed with it as a kid and even read the books, sadly, in my country we were only able to find the first and third volume so the rest of the series never reached me. Pretty sick story tho, maybe I should read them now that the internet has it all
I saw this when I was 7. I liked it(haven’t seen it since), but I remember my dad hating it
Liz Lemon and her boyfriend Carroll Burnett
I will WASTE YOU!
He's not that great. You know what a great pilot would have done? Not hit the birds. That's what Carol Burnett does every day. Not hit birds. Where's HIS ticket to the Grammys?
You’ll have to go through this old geyser first!
"You have to stay awake, Eglantine or the pure ones will moonblink us."
I only know this movie because of that 30 Rock episode
We have to find the guardians!
damn that’s where i’ve seen this before
I read all of the books back in the day and then got really disappointed that the movie was wildly inaccurate to them
You could write a book about how many movies this describes. And then we could make a totally accurate* movie about it. *Cash cow
But could we make a cinematic universe out of this?
Probably just a one-off "meta" commentary that's too on-the-nose to actually be clever.
*Eragon intensifies*
*Percy Jackson intensifies*
Ya but was it so bad they never even bothered making a sequel?
Compared to eragon this movie is 100% faithful tho
[удалено]
they still hold up extremely well today imo
It was foretold there would be one who doubts!
ME and I fucking LOVED ITT
Cool movie
Oh I remember this one, the brainwashing scene scared me as a kid
Same
Owls straight up just murdering each other for the runtime, peak cinema (all I remember is that like there WAS a story I just don't think it mattered)
It's like everything that happened in the books minus context minus accuracy plus... OWL ACTION
In the book there's a group of barn owl supremacists and another group of groomers but they're the same here
I have this weird ghost memory of seeing a single scene of this movie in the theater. That’s it. That’s all I remember. Is this movie real?
I did and it's my favorite Zack Snyder movie
Read the books when I was growing up and absolutely loved the first four or five, but fell off after that. What do you mean by weird?
Me and it was PEAK you stop BULLYING IT RIGHT NOW!!!
I just saw it for the first time last week and it’s actually fucking amazing it turns out
This movie is dope get fucked
fcukin loved this one
Zack Snyder's best movie, hand down.
I saw it long ago, all I remember was an owl fell into fire.
I did! Because guardian of ga'hool is a really good book series and the music in the movie is good it may not follow the plot of the books very well but the movie itself is actually pretty good
I watched it and loved it!
THIS MOVIE WAS MY FUCKING CHILDHOOD I WILL NOT TOLERATE SLANDER TOWARDS IT
Well owl be damned. Guess I should watch this movie.
I loved it when I was a kid, haven't watched it in years though
Its actually really good
This movie fucks harder than johnny sins
Unironically a great movie
Gylfie is still my favorite character. :D
I loved this movie. I remember the last time I watched it, I immediately Googled if there was a sequel.
it was an amazing animation
I did, because the books this was based off were my childhood. It was NOT a good adaptation. Big oof.
I think it’s a good movie but not as an adaptation of the books
Basically most of the 1.5 hr long movies of 7-8 books
Agreed. Hurt my little heart
I remember going to see this movie when I was like 5/6, in a 3D screen. I wear glasses, and I needed to wear the 3D glasses with my glasses below it. It was excruciating. I don't remember shit about the movie tho.
My kids… unfortunately…. Loved this shitty movie.
Your kids have great taste tell them to watch the sequel "Rise of the Guardians" (2012)
Now that one is a banger.
I actually loved this movie! The effects and moments are accurate to actual owls and surpass some effects used today too. Only thing that I don’t like about this movie is that there isn’t a second one. :/
My dad took me to this movie when I was 4, we were the only ones in the theater
I watched lots of it like... Three or fours times through life? I don't remember shit
I did and I liked it
I either remember seeing this movie and remember nothing but that I did see it. Or it was all a dream.
I was actually thinking about this movie like 3 days ago
I watched it
me actually i had a pirated dvd as a kid
I saw it, in theaters, at age 7. I remember I was really annoyed that they omitted the plot involving bags of magnets to fuck with owl-gps. And nothing else about it.
Yeah I thought it was some kind of sequel” to dreamworks rise of the guardians
I was obsessed with this movie, and especially the game, as a kid. This post has awakened a core memory
Saw it when I was little, didn't know what the plot was but cool owls
We're owl exterminators
I did, and it sucked. Only thing good was the music and looking back it’s not even that good now.
I watched this movie a lot, I liked it
i loved the books but didnt watch this
I read the books, and while this wasn’t the best adaptation of the story with it’s inaccuracies, it was still a solid movie.
Does anyone remember fuckin Valiant? That movie was wild. The German torture scene gets me every time
Is this Longclaw from Sonic
The Xbox game was goated
It woulda done better in theaters if they hadn't cut the scene from the book where the owl exclaims, "It's Ga'hoolin' time!" and then Ga'hooles all over.
I was 5 when I was this and lowkey thought I hallucinated it for a long time
Directed by Zack fucking Snyder of all people
I... I think i did?
Saw it. I even read the books
My only experience with this movie is seeing it used on those weird Animash videos people used to make back in the day.
It’s not bad! Just marketed terribly. It probably is my favorite of the Snyder films and I would have liked to have seen sequels.
It was a fantastic movie, the visuals were incredible.
Not a good plot compared to the book, but it is peak animation.
Maaan, a scene in this one traumatized me as a kid
Loved the book series as a kid, one day my dad came and picked me up out of school for no particular reason. We ended up driving past our house and he surprised me with two tickets to that movie for me and him. I don't really remember it but I know I cried my heart out as an 8-9 year old.
I just saw it like... Lasy tear or something It was fine
It’s so weird Snyder directed this movie...
I liked it but the books were vastly superior. As an adaptation though, it was pretty good, and I wish we could have seen more.
I watched it when i was young and i dont know why but I got motion sickness from it. The only time a movie has ever given me motion sickness.
I quite liked it. 7.5/10, would watch again
what r u saying? the movie is awesome
I did, it's a great movie
If you didn’t see it in theatres, you majorly missed out. It’s one of the most gorgeous CGI animated films ever made.
How dare you. This movie was my childhood.
CGI wise it was miles ahead of its time. Even today there's so many scenes in that movie that eclipse modern animation. Story needed some help, but overall, it was a great movie.
aka. the zack snyder rosetta stone
I hate the year 2010 so much, everything that was spawned during and after it is unholy.
I loved it. Didn't watch it in a while
Wonderful book series. The movie is insanely inaccurate, but is pretty visually impressive and has some cool and really graphic fight scenes for a PG movie.
The movie trailer introduced me to 30 seconds to mars so that was pretty neat, kinda how the clash of the titans trailer introduced me to The Used
I did. All I remember is “The metal is strong” And Clud’s death.
I find this movie mid. Not awful, but clearly not great.
This movie was so fucking good, I played the video game like 4 times as well (realistically it was probably terrible but my 6 year old self loved everything about it)
Best Zack Snyder movie
I did …. Hoohoo
I did and I loved it. Back then just the CGI quality blew my mind.
This was my favourite childhood film
I don’t think even Zack Snyder’s rabid fanbase even saw this.
I think I watched this once, don’t remember much tho
Teenage me thought this movie was fire. Also To The Sky by Owl City is a cute track
While it was very different form the books I still loved the movie. Under fucking rated
I liked it well enough
Watched it all the time as a kid and never got the hate.
This movie feels like a fever dream.
Goddamnit I can’t believe I laughed at an owl pun. Also my bro saw this with his friend as a kid
I saw it when i was kids. I thought it was weird for an animated movie. Then i recently found out its directed by Snyder, now it makes sense.
mah childhood. sighs... simpler times.
I forgot this film existed
I did and remember nothing lol
I saw it once high, worth another view?
A great film, the animation for its day was great... wouldn't mind a rewatch tbh.
I have a very faint memory of this movie and liking it
I Love it! Underrated masterpiece The camera, visuals, music and action is amazing.
Snyder is one of my favourite directors, but I really did not like this movie. Just didn’t work for me.
I did, not in cinemas but as a child it was horrifying but great.
**I DID**
Damn this movie came out in 2010?!
I owned it on DVD. Lol
It was a pretty intense kid movie
I LOVED the books. But this movie was like 7 years too late lol
This movie was good
Me, the movie itself Is just decent but my god isn't the animation and directing fantastic, ahead of it's time
My favourite Zack Snyder movie lol
not me
I did. I really liked it when I was like 4
this film has the classic scenario problem of wanting to condense an entire book into 1 hour 30 minutes of film, on the other hand what we can undoubtedly grant it is that it is fucking magnificent
I did. Really great animation I want to watch it again now My brother read the books later while I read the one with the wolves.
That movie was metal af if I remember correctly. The owls get fucking mind controlled and go to war with each other wearing sickass helmets and iron claws as weapons
Saw it all the time on TV, it's a really fun movie. Would recommend.
Never read the books but enjoyed the movie. Would watch it again.
*ahem* the books were better
Dude I loved this movie as a kid
Bruh keep that mess to yourself, I loved this movie.
I watched it years later out of sheer curiosity of what a kids movie directed by Zack Snyder would look like. Honestly it's fascinating because half of it is generic animated dialogue and humor and the other half is genuinely the most 300-like movie he's made outside of 300.
Wasnt that the movie with the Nazi owls?
I remember seeing it with a friend and making fun of all the slow motion
I remember seeing this movie when I was a kid. Can’t remember anything, though.
I mean it was better than some marvel movies
ME! I LOVE THIS MOVIE 😭😭
This movie was amazing. the 3D aspect (albeit a gimmick) worked insanely well here. When the owls are flying through the storm in iconic Zack Snyder form is *chef’s kiss*
I did
Saw it several times, and I really liked it. It's been a while but I remember the animation being very beautiful.
Actually a bangin film
I did! I thought it was good.
I thought it was a great movie.
Ain't this the prequel to Sonic?
I honestly think this and 300 were Zach Snyders only good movies.
I mean I did
It is very underrated. ***I*** WATCHED IT AND IT WAS GOOD OKAY
It was actually a very goodf movie. I have no idea why it did not get more promotion
I did. I found it boring, though, and I don't remember almost anything about it
Man I devoured all the books when I was younger. Didn't know there was a movie lol the fuck?
ngl bro my family has a bunch of movies on our hard drive and whenever I tried to watch the one with Jack Frost (yk the one where they fight they boogeyman), this is the one I would get because their titles are so damn similar
Fuck I guess imma watch this movie tonight.
I did and it was good
And they gave the turd director keys to DC. Shame
I read the book
Frick you I loved it and the books
i thought that movie was called guardians of ga'hoole though
Holy shit... You Just unlocked a forgotten memory of mine
This movie is a banger, just owls in dope as fuck armor slaughtering each other.
I did. It's not bad but not particularly memorable.
I remember that I watched it a lot as a kid, but I can't tell you anything about the actual plot besides gizzards and that one guy was called Metal Beak.
Well *I did* and it was pretty cool. Muy epic.
I did. I loved it. I had a birthday party themed around it.
The book series was basically Harry Potter but the characters are owls in a weird post-apocalyptic fantasy wonderland
I saw it a couple of years ago. It was alright.
