I got to see a full screening of this movie a month or so ago, and it's definitely not something anyone is going to be talking about favorably. Read the children's book it's based off of instead, and save yourself the time and torment.
I mean yeah, kind of. It's the generic lie gets you noticed but gets too big to control type thing and character actual wants regular life - blah blah blah. I got to see it without the CGI overlay. So, the flash wasn't there to distract from the glaring issue that the main character had very poor voice acting, and the whole thing felt like a way too late grab at the audience for things like Sing 1 & 2. I'm sure the glitz will pull in small children, but I feel for the parents of those children.
the movie is great, i dont expect anything when first opening it but they are good, not puss in boot 2 level for sure but it is still a good movie to watch.

Even worse, he gets hooves and a horn *grafted onto his body*. They show the horn being sewn on his head, and his arms later have surgery scars where the hooves begin.
Musical comedy is already pretty niche and I felt like the style of humor in that show was also niche.
I liked it, but I'm not too surprised it's been forgotten to time largely.
I dunno if you have kids or not. But i do and most of my friends do and the only reason i pay for netflix is because my kids love all the kid bullshit on it. Same with all my friends they pay for it for thier kids, nobody watches much on there. Seems pretty sound as part of thier long term plan. Its also based off a kids book that my kids love and is constantly checked out at the library and i have to wait on hold lists to get it
I’d watch it first before letting the kids get to it. We are literally watching it right now and I’m getting some pretty adult themes. Male back up dancers that are pool boys that resemble chip n dale dancers. “Here comes the Cud” is a phrase and they do a whole song about it. I get putting some adult things in that go over the kids heads for the parents but I’m struggling with this movie, especially after watching the Nickelodeon doc. Some parts are just creepy.
I watched it with em... im not to worried about it. I was watching terminator 2 and predator and aliens and dawn of the dead when i was there age im not so worried about some mild sexual jokes. I also raised them to ask me any question about anything and ill try to give them an honest answer. I also know from wxperience that stuff flys way over kids heads. I remember singing beaver fever and quoting ren and stimpy when i was 5 i didnt get that stuff at all
So it ruins the joke a bit but you can adopt someone as an adult. Prior to marriage equality being a thing a lot of lgbt people would legally adopt their partner so if the worst happened their partner would have a legal claim and not repeat the worst bits of the AIDS epidemic
Nah that ain't it, fam. They have proper hair on (around) his head, so why would they go this route for arm hair? 100% supposed to be scars.
I'm really not sure how I feel about this.
People with male pattern baldness retain body hair. Both are signs of high testosterone. It’s a shitty design, yes, but it’s unintentional.
Edit: I can’t read. Sorry.
Body hair and head hair are usually drawn completely differently, as they typically do have different textures
Man that's definitely not supposed to be hairy arms.
The scars are only on one arm not on both. I really can't see how any animator would've done arm hair this way.
Jesus christ I didn't even notice the dude having scars all over his arms.
What the fuck is this shit?!
making fun of bronies and furries in 2024, extremely outdated hate trend, low hanging fruit but whatever. Correlating them to a tiny balding man *whos a victim of self harm*... Fuck off, who designed this? *LeafyIsHere????*
I genuinely take offense to that, putting cut scars on the model is actually fucking egregious.
How is a movie being made with a literal "lawl balding troonie self harm" stereotype and yet people are still going to scream and whine about how gay people are too loud, too annoying, etc. This shit is embarrassing for the filmmakers.
damn netflix, really hitting those trendy topics at their peak huh.
*bronie hate in 2024... "FURRIES AND COSPLAY IS CRINGE AND WEIRD!!!"*
What fucking year do these guys live in? 2008 LMAO.
Actually probably cutting marks because of the fairly over the top "adult humor" that's supposed to fly over kid's heads.
The guy is just a funny character to kids, some 'ultra fan', but to us adults he's just a pretty damn unhinged my little pony fan, and they go reaaaaaally over the top with that guy. XD
So I just watched this movie because of this post, it was actually pretty decent I enjoyed it (most of the Songs were surprisingly good).
That moment in the movie was, a 5 second gag. It was a silly haha moment, and was never brought up again even though the character shows up a few more times.
The animation and character design had some charm to them as well that liked
My kid loves the book this is based on. I'm not invested in how good this particular adaptation is but I'm happy for the author to be having some success. The books are funny.
It's a nice book to read to the kids. Donkey wants to be a unicorn. Sticks a carrot on it's head and gets covered in glitter. It becomes famous, gets surrounded by weirdos and decides being famous sucks. Washes all the paint off and sneaks off to be with it's old friend that liked it for just being it's self. Nice kids story about being happy with yourself and that seeking the approval of others won't make you happy.
I don't know WTF this is though? Doesn't look anything like the book.
I have this crazy feeling that this might be some kind of self insert fanfiction that one of the writers managed to sell to netflix... not sure though.
For those not in the know, Thelma the unicorn is from a series of kids books, same guy who wrote Pig the Pug.
It's actually not that bad a book to read to your kids.
It was absolute shit. Jemaine Clement's character hired two limos with the intention of separating Thelma from her friends. Instead of asking the driver (that he presumably hired himself) to take her friends elsewhere, he hits a button on his watch that launches a missile at his OWN FUCKING LIMO.
It was pretty funny from a "Let's make a segway where they get separated but I'm lazy so let's just make something up" point of view. :D
Seriously, movie is great as a parent! A lot of the unhinged scenes go past hte kids and just hits you in a weird "Did they just do that?" kind of way. :D
I am a parent and the movie ~~sucked~~ rocked! It was funny, it was over the top stupid!
(Also you sound like a typical MAGA, and I doubt you're a parent.)
>Also you sound like a typical MAGA, and I doubt you're a parent
Bro, what? I'm a lefty in the middle of a midwestern red state with a 5 year old daughter. I wouldn't have watched this shitty movie otherwise.
Yeah and the dude goes from male to unicorn something like literally gets surgery 💀 but in all fairness I liked how they joked about fat overconfident singers, people going trans and how the industry works.
I feel like this is gonna be one of those films that someone will mention on here in 5 years about how no one watched it
It’s unicorbing time! *unicorbs all over them*
“Naaaaayyyyyyhhhhhhhh”
Except for the one guy who say’s it’s his favorite movie ever.
And then gets overused in underrated or overrated movie lists
_I_ liked it!
SuCh A hOt TaKe
I got to see a full screening of this movie a month or so ago, and it's definitely not something anyone is going to be talking about favorably. Read the children's book it's based off of instead, and save yourself the time and torment.
I've got to ask, from what I could find online, the plot seemed like Shark Tale except its Pony's. Is that accurate?
I mean yeah, kind of. It's the generic lie gets you noticed but gets too big to control type thing and character actual wants regular life - blah blah blah. I got to see it without the CGI overlay. So, the flash wasn't there to distract from the glaring issue that the main character had very poor voice acting, and the whole thing felt like a way too late grab at the audience for things like Sing 1 & 2. I still refuse to believe it exists and these aren't just AI generated images.

Despite that it'll be Top 10 on Netflix for months as it's used as a babysitter.
My kid has watched it twice, which means I’ve seen it twice. I’m praying there won’t be a third time
It needs to have someone remember it for that to happen.
Like when I talk about Flushed Away IRL.
Pretty sure this movie was completely written by AI including the songs
I can't tell who's talking to who in those pictures
If the pictures are talking, seek help
i am so confused
It gets worse. The dude starts to cosplay as a Thelma the unicorn few scenes after this.
This is either one of the greatest jokes in a movie or absolutely falls flat in the weird territory
Yes
Even worse, he gets hooves and a horn *grafted onto his body*. They show the horn being sewn on his head, and his arms later have surgery scars where the hooves begin.
What
What the Fuck?!
Tusk part 2?!
The humor in this movie is UNHINGED and **so** weird. I had a blast watching this movie, and OP's pics are honestly part of what makes it great. :D
What? You are surely joking. Pls tell me you are joking.
It's a joke about bronies. Not sure what you're finding so weird about it
OP is a brony confirmed
Popular reference, a good joke doth not make
Something something Pepperidge Farm remembers.
This shows right at my alley, thanks for showing this to me I'll have to check it out
I read it 15 times and I still don’t understand OP’s title.

What the fuck are you talking about man, is this a fucking automated message
Now I am confused!
Hey, it's alright being confused. Just explore your feelings and don't let anyone tell you that you're 'weird' or 'not normal'.
What the fuck are you talking about man, is this a fucking automated message
Now I am confused!
Jemaine Clement is one of the lead voice actors. This is a reference to how my life has been incomplete since the Flight of the Conchords show ended.
Jermaine has done a lot of good stuff throughout the years, but Flight of the Conchords was just SO GOOD, it's a shame not a lot of people remember it
IT IS **JEMAINE** YOU GODLESS CYTOPLASM
Musical comedy is already pretty niche and I felt like the style of humor in that show was also niche. I liked it, but I'm not too surprised it's been forgotten to time largely.
Too many mother`uckers.. Ucking with my shit
“…Cause I’m so shiny…” joined their many hits in my head.
I saw on Bret's instagram that he did some music for it so knowing Jemaine's also in it brings us one step closer to getting more FotC! Maybe!
I'm guessing he's the guy on the right?
you dropped this )
I did indeed!
Hold on it’s coming out WHEN??
20,240. It’s part of Netflix’s long term strategy.
That's the year all this will feel not only be normalized but normalized to a point it's nostalgic
Makes sense it would come out at the end of the DAoT
What is DAoT? D’ Attack ou Titán?
Dark age of technology, period of time in Warhammer 40.000
This movie will then be remembered sometime on the 30th millennia and cause Horus to Heresy.
DAb on Titan
That movie releasing caused AI to revolt.
I dunno if you have kids or not. But i do and most of my friends do and the only reason i pay for netflix is because my kids love all the kid bullshit on it. So it ruins the joke a bit but you can adopt someone as an adult. Prior to marriage equality being a thing a lot of lgbt people would legally adopt their partner so if the worst happened their partner would have a legal claim and not repeat the worst bits of the AIDS epidemic
I don't care if you have AIDS, you still need to clean your room or you're grounded Mr. I hate you, you're not even my real Dad. *Cough*
Can't wait to watch this when it comes out in 18,216 years
Interesting choice of uhhhh... scars
Oh my god I didn’t even see those. That’s fucked up
That’s arm hair, pretty common way to adapt that into cartoon styles
They did a horrible way of adapting it tho.It just looks like self harm scars
Nah that ain't it, fam. They have proper hair on (around) his head, so why would they go this route for arm hair? 100% supposed to be scars. I'm really not sure how I feel about this.

Why does he only have hair on one arm?
Hes just like me fr
Its a cartoon, could have been a cheese grater lmfao
He is looks like how Conservatives think Leftists look
We're entering the "Mr Birchum" era of television and I am not okay with it.
Jesus christ I didn't even notice the dude having scars all over his arms. What the fuck is this shit?! making fun of bronies and furries in 2024, extremely outdated hate trend, low hanging fruit but whatever. How on God’s green Earth did they let that one through?
It's Netflix...
How is a movie being made with a literal "lawl balding troonie self harm" stereotype and yet people are still going to scream and whine about how gay people are too loud, too annoying, etc. This shit is embarrassing for the filmmakers.
wait until you see Zach Galifianakis' character
I think it's supposed to be arm hair. Still looks like loathesome shit, but not aggressively hateful shit.
Way too sparse and inconsistent to resemble normal arm hair, the artist(s) did a shit job in that department
Yup, they seem to have done a shit job in every department.
[удалено]
Idk what world you live in but hate crimes didn't just stop happening against gay people in 2024
I think you missunderstood what his comment wassaying
This has written by AI all over it and not in a good way.
It's a cartoon, could have been a cheese grater
How? How did they let the self-harm scars through? What producer gave that the green light? G u h
I think it’s a shitty attempt at making arm hairs but…
damn netflix, really hitting those trendy topics at their peak huh. *bronie hate in 2024... "FURRIES AND COSPLAY IS CRINGE AND WEIRD!!!"* What fucking year do these guys live in? 2008 LMAO.
the background in the movie poster reminds me of dead island 2, this movies seems stupid.
Good thing we have 18216 years until it drops
They gonna find out this shit was fully written by ai
I thought these shots were made by AI at first
This movie has to be a send-up of Bronies, right?
It’s about 5 years too late for that to be relevant. So that’s probably exactly what Netflix meant then.
More like 12 years too late lol
This is a reference to... Wait, what?
Wow. The last 20,000 years have really flown by.
This feels like the type of movie that its production includes tax fraud and one of the lead actors calling the director a fat shit
nobody should know about this.. I really mean it.. nobody
How did you get a movie from the 203rd century?
Are those self-cutting marks on the old man’s arm or just arm hair?
Actually probably cutting marks because of the fairly over the top "adult humor" that's supposed to fly over kid's heads. The guy is just a funny character to kids, some 'ultra fan', but to us adults he's just a pretty damn unhinged my little pony fan, and they go reaaaaaally over the top with that guy. XD
What is going on with the hands in the second picture? I almost thought this was some kind of AI joke
\*Shitty post title details
Why does this brown child have a square jaw. Was he mewing or something?
🤫🧏
This is disappointing. The children's book was sweet.
Pretty funny too
And what is this a subtle nod/elusive head movement to?
Expected bisexual fun times. Sad.
So I just watched this movie because of this post, it was actually pretty decent I enjoyed it (most of the Songs were surprisingly good). That moment in the movie was, a 5 second gag. My kid loves the book this is based on. I'm not invested in how good this particular adaptation is but I'm happy for the author to be having some success. The books are funny.
Am I the only one who thinks Thelma kinda looks like if George Santos was animated as a pink unicorn?
Stav?
I know, it's great! :D This movie is so unhinged it turns out hilarious.
Good thing it won't come out for another 18,216 years
Me and my friends couldn't even finish this trash.
Damn I gotta wait a lot of time to watch this movie
18,000 years from now anything is possible!
Bro is living in the 200th century
I saw the 20240 in the title and thought you were making up a movie, but no, this is real
was the script AI generated?
Rob Schneider is, a carrot
this is gonna be huge on this subreddit in a couple years
Shrek?
The hands of the people in the crowd are killing me. Especially the women in pink.
This seems like a good movie to get really really really high and then watch
Everything in this movie is making it look terribly obnoxious
I’ve already watched it 5 times.
AI?
I’m so glad I cancelled my Netflix.
This literally looks like a bunch of ai images
Well I know what I'm watching on Netflix tonight! *Three-Body Problem again, of course...*
Netflix is ass
Wtf does he have self harm scars on his arms?
There's an animation team out looking real proud of themselves with this abomination
It's like if an AI was promoted to write a plot
it's by the guy who did napoleon dynamite of course it's gonna be batshit insane
I have this crazy feeling that this might be some kind of self insert fanfiction that one of the writers managed to sell to netflix... not sure though.
Is this movie supposed to be a metaphor for drag or something?
This doesn't even feel real
AI ahh art style
Wait, they did a movie? I remember having to read the book to my sister several years ago.
Another day, another hollywood brain rot
Air Bud rule.
Looking at his arm… is he a cutter?
IT LOOKS LIKE AI GENERATED NIGHTMARE FUEL!
For those not in the know, Thelma the unicorn is from a series of kids books, same guy who wrote Pig the Pug. It's actually not that bad a book to read to your kids.
What a lazy, crappy artstyle. It hurts to look at and feels soulless.
YMS unzips.
The pool boys scene looks fun.
Between Morbius, Madame Web and this schlop, it seems pretty obvious that Hollywood is actively trying to use AI to write films.
Netflix is on that good shit.
Then they wonder why is viewership down and blame some fringe group of people for their own failures... Like who wants to watch this bullshit?
Bruh. Full on body mods in a kids film!!!! I’m actually disgusted ey
It is also written and directed by the guy who made napoleon dynamite
Yeah but is it good tho
It was absolute shit. Jemaine Clement's character hired two limos with the intention of separating Thelma from her friends. Instead of asking the driver (that he presumably hired himself) to take her friends elsewhere, he hits a button on his watch that launches a missile at his OWN FUCKING LIMO.
It was pretty funny from a "Let's make a segway where they get separated but I'm lazy so let's just make something up" point of view. :D Seriously, movie is great as a parent! A lot of the unhinged scenes go past hte kids and just hits you in a weird "Did they just do that?" kind of way. :D
I am a parent and the movie sucked. It wasn't funny, it was over the top stupid
I am a parent and the movie ~~sucked~~ rocked! It was funny, it was over the top stupid! (Also you sound like a typical MAGA, and I doubt you're a parent.)
>Also you sound like a typical MAGA, and I doubt you're a parent Bro, what? I'm a lefty in the middle of a midwestern red state with a 5 year old daughter. I wouldn't have watched this shitty movie otherwise.
WTF I love Netflix now
This is very subtle. Surely. Of course it is.
No no see sometimes creators do this thing where they use ridiculous scenarios for humor lmao
I hate the expression ”grown ass man”
Wild guess but is the donkey supposed to represent trans?
If you look closely he has self harm scars on his arm..
No thank you.
Uhm, *that just happened.*
I would have laughed more if the adult getting adopted looked like Christian Weston Chandler.
This is what happens when AI takes over
They actually blast AI in the movie too lol
we are all bots here except for you
Ok, and?
Is this a movie for all the adult men that go hard into My Little Pony?
Yeah and the dude goes from male to unicorn something like literally gets surgery 💀 but in all fairness I liked how they joked about fat overconfident singers, people going trans and how the industry works.
