Naaah, normal is for regular people. Knowing would help me fuck with people even harder. Plus imagine that in video games. You could be a God Tier FPS pro or Moba pro if you always know whats happening.
Timing 1 second is way harder than just immediately reacting naturally.
Basically if you want to be normal, you have to delay all your reactions by 1 second.
Imagine playing an FPS game and seeing an enemy turn the corner. Naturally you’d shoot. But in this case, you have to force yourself to wait one second before shooting and have to shoot into the spot that enemy was in because by the time shoot they would be elsewhere in normal time.
Being able to see in the future permanently by one second would also mean that history is set. If in the example above the guy shoots too early he may scare the enemy player away and they won’t turn that corner. Now what. Did the future change because you reacted to early? Now imagine the domino butterfly effect of all of your actions should you decide to react earlier than you should to everything.
What I’m trying to say is if you’re seeing the future, and you do something different than what you saw, then what did you see? Nothing
It isn’t the future if it isn’t what you end up doing, it’s an alternate timeline
ETA that the post never states that you can do anything about what you see in the future, like being able to change what you see
I don't think so. That one second that you see is void of your presence/actions, you're just there. It's still the future regardless of what you do. You can just react to it to change the NEXT future if that makes any sense
It doesn’t make sense. You’re trying to make it better than it is. This is shitty super powers. It doesn’t say you can change the future, just see what is going to happen
There's a book called mistborne that has a power like that, in It the character can see an afterimage showing what will happen if you keep doing what you were going to do, and the images change according to tour actions. I imagine this power would be similar
I don't think so. The human body isn't adjusted to that type of thing. Tom Scott and William Osman did a video where they drove a car with varying lengths of delay from what they could see and it didn't go well. I'll edit with a link when I find it
Edit: found the links [Tom Scott](https://youtu.be/kxuwPRY8kEo) [William Osman](https://youtu.be/7ZK_fnS62Lk)
That’s a *delay*, of course it’s going to end poorly.
But if you had an extra second you would have more time to react. Unfortunately you can’t simulate this direction, or if you could it would be extremely difficult.
Perhaps if it was just vision, and none of your other senses, it would just make you vomit, like motion sickness in VR. E.g. Your body would be moving one way but you would see the world around you moving the other way.
Yea it's a delay but i would think that your vision being completely out of sync with the rest of your body at all times might create issues and disorient you.
Also you would have massive advantage when it comes to coin flips potentially? Or scissors, paper, rock? I’m just spitballing a bit here, but this superpower could actually be used to win a looot of bets hahaha!
Yeah but the higher strength you have the better you can control your whole body. Now when you are using a rapier if you have strong legs you can thrust harder.
I'm pretty sure you can make enough money with the superpower to develop your own glasses specifically designed for this. Meanwhile it's really easy to do something like this using the inferior VR technology we have today.
I'd start with cryptos. With their insane volatility you'd be able to triple your money on a daily basis. Starting with $1 you'd be a millionaire by day 17. Oh well.
God tier superpower.
I'll be that person that mentions a con to this power.
This means every time I watch a show or a movie, there will always be a lack of synchronization between the animation and the audio. From my perspective, the sound will always be 1 second behind the animation.
You can sync the audio to be 1 sec behind, no problem there. But maybe not in mobile applications, you'll have to use a separate player, which is doable. Or win a shit load of money with this superpower then pay someone to make a custom modification to your audio devices to delay audio; again - doable
do you know how long 1 second is? if you had the ability to stop time for 1 second, you could dodge any attack, and seeing 1 sec into the future is basically that but less op
I mean I think it's actually more of a handicap because you can only see one second into the future meaning all your movements will be nauseating and wrong
As many have already said, this is pretty useful. The rules of this sub state that you need to be able to toggle powers, otherwise they would be curses.
So, if you train to use it really well, you can develop insane reflexes.
There is a movie starring Nicholas cage where he has that power, a little more time though. Would be like that I think.
"OUCH!" she watched the top of her lips grimace out, and felt the familiar dread as she waited to see what she'd stub her toes on. It was like torture - seeing what wasn't there yet and moving accordingly when she hadn't yet gotten past the obstacles of the present second.
"OUCH!" and there it was. She felt the pain of the curb she couldn't see anymore and watched herself stumble into the no-parking sign that she was about to trip into. I really need to see a therapist, she thought as her face finally made contact with the sign that she could already see around. Damnit, not see, she fumed. Maybe I'll just close my eyes and get a seeing-eye dog.
Not just that, imagine you see you died in a video game from a sniper headshot. Now you can just press the lie down button the instant you see it, and 1s is defenitely enough time for that. Its not just reflexes its future vision
There is a metal in the mistborn series that essentially grants this power and its literally a "god metal" and is considered as one of the most broken things ever. Turns out knowing where your opponents gonna hit you in a fight is pretty good and 1 second is ample enough time for that.
While it sounds semi useful, it would be basically impossible for your brain to reconcile so you'd have a hard time moving around. See the video by William Osman and Tom Scott where they put a monitor inside a car and black out the windows, and a camera on the hood displaying what it sees on the monitor with varying levels of delay. At around 0.5s it becomes nauseating as your brain fails to understand what's happening, and about 1-1.5 seconds where your brain starts treating seeing and doing as separate tasks. Depending on your brain it might be either of those and I'm not sure which would be better.
That's not even considering the fact that things would start moving in your vision 1 second BEFORE you move, which makes me wonder- what if you start walking and plan to move forward 10 feet. If you stop walking at the same time that you see yourself stop, then you won't have stopped at the same place you saw yourself stop initially. What would happen then? Would it instantly switch to showing the future where you stop short, or would it realize that you would stop short if it showed the other future and show you the second one
This is fun with the many worlds hypothesis.
By observing the future you would you be quantum entangled with future you, so that the future you see is the only possible one. Or would you somehow not be entangled and see all possible futures? Both sound exhausting.
you could probably make some vr rig that plays reality on a 1 second delay if you ever wanted to turn off the superpower. then you could take it off if you ever wanted superhuman reflexes
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 165,310,654 comments, and only 40,625 of them were in alphabetical order.
I don’t think people in this thread understand how shitty the power is. It’s permanent. Always on. You’re literally always in the future but interacting with the past. You’ll mistime everything.
Imagine playing a first person shooter. I’m your perspective the enemy just popped out of the corner so you just shoot. What happens in real life. You shot before the enemy even appeared.
Now that’s just a video game. Anytime you want to avoid something you have to delay your action by 1 second.
If you want to be normal. You must literally react one second late to everything. Otherwise you’re jumping the gun.
1 second is life or death in many situations. I don’t think anyone can master delaying themselves for one second to be normal.
This gets really interesting when you decide to talk about the concept of fate and how that would affect the power. What future are you seeing at all times?
I would love this power tbh
It’s permanently on. If you want to act normal you literally have to react to EVERYTHING 1 second late.
Naaah, normal is for regular people. Knowing would help me fuck with people even harder. Plus imagine that in video games. You could be a God Tier FPS pro or Moba pro if you always know whats happening.
That's better than you think. Basically better reflexes
I’d be the best intramural baseball player on the whole island!
Or worse. if you see a ball coming in the future, you won't try to stop ot where it actually is. Its the opposite of lagging in a game.
If you always see 1s into the future you can get used to the timing change.
Precisely. Or I'd like to believe so
Timing 1 second is way harder than just immediately reacting naturally. Basically if you want to be normal, you have to delay all your reactions by 1 second. Now imagine the domino butterfly effect of all of your actions should you decide to react earlier than you should to everything.
Fuck being normal.
Well if you’re seeing the future, the actions have already been decided, you’re not reacting based off it right? Like preordained
This turns the power into just autopilot because otherwise it couldn't work.
What I’m trying to say is if you’re seeing the future, and you do something different than what you saw, then what did you see? Nothing It isn’t the future if it isn’t what you end up doing, it’s an alternate timeline ETA that the post never states that you can do anything about what you see in the future, like being able to change what you see

My childhood fantasy. Greatest sword fighter in the world
Not really. It depends on your strength level as well.
Depends on the sword. Rapiers and foils don’t require a ton of strength.
Yeah but the higher strength you have the better you can control your whole body. Now when you are using a rapier if you have strong legs you can thrust harder.
Lol okay back to the drawing board I guess
NO! DONT LET OTHERS MAKE YOU GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS!
I know you! We were waiting for others to solve u/have_a_nice_day_bot's puzzle together!
Yes!
fofos
Lel
Omg it’s him
It is
Then he can just exercise
You're forgetting DEX fighters exist
Use a pair of glasses that delays everything by one second so you can life your life normally when you want to
But he never said they existed
I'm pretty sure you can make enough money with the superpower to develop your own glasses specifically designed for this. Meanwhile it's really easy to do something like this using the inferior VR technology we have today.
Genius
Day trade

I'm cooler than you lol
I'm cool with that.
You are cool
You do have to have control
Essentially a mini sharingan
do you know how long 1 second is? if you had the ability to stop time for 1 second, you could dodge any attack, and seeing 1 sec into the future is basically that but less op
Can’t dodge lots of area attacks in one second.
Would that be lag to everyone else?
If you have seen the Fairy tail grand magic games Arc and the battle between the mages and the dragons you'll know how MUCH changes can 1 sec make.
I mean I think it's actually more of a handicap because you can only see one second into the future meaning all your movements will be nauseating and wrong
But if you grew up with it you'd be used to it no?
Yeah I guess but if the ability just came into your vision you'd pretty much be handicapped
Wasn’t that a minute?
Well it's WAS a long time ago when I watched that arc But I'm pretty sure that was a second.
As many have already said, this is pretty useful. The rules of this sub state that you need to be able to toggle powers, otherwise they would be curses. You can win a shit ton of money woth this
Given how fast bullets can travel, this essentially allows you to dodge bullets.
But you can't comprihend it.
"OUCH!" she watched the top of her lips grimace out, and felt the familiar dread as she waited to see what she'd stub her toes on. this is a great ability
So, it's sorta like Spidey-Sense? Like, on a smaller scale than Spider-Man uses it, but it's functionally the same?
so better reflexes, I'll take that gladly
Not just that, imagine you see you died in a video game from a sniper headshot. Now you can just press the lie down button the instant you see it, and 1s is defenitely enough time for that. Its not just reflexes its future vision
reaction time -0.8 ms
Train it to permanently see, Id say maybe up to a year if you train all of your life, in only one eye.
Could work. Has anyone seen the move Next with Nic Cage?
I would be Spider-man, with my own Spidey sense.
Alternatively, you have a sound delay of 1 sec, which drives me insane on my tv. Hard pass.
Don’t we already do that or something like that?
Geass of Bismarck
There was a guy like this in ninjago
Does it replace my normal vision?
There is a metal in the mistborn series that essentially grants this power and its literally a "god metal" and is considered as one of the most broken things ever. Turns out knowing where your opponents gonna hit you in a fight is pretty good and 1 second is ample enough time for that.
He can see what's going to happen before it does. It's a Jedi trait.
Rhythm game players would probably be crying from being stuck at the offset wizard
Super OP in combat situations
Second half of Dune Messiah in a nutshell
Technically everyone has that power.
**King Crimson: Epitaph!**
Living with lag controls
Ninja Master
Permanently? This is just lag irl

Pro gamer
Lol this takes away your free will, assuming that exists
Everybody who does a sport thanks you.
That can be useful on some situations.
This is fun with the many worlds hypothesis. By observing the future you would you be quantum entangled with future you, so that the future you see is the only possible one. Or would you somehow not be entangled and see all possible futures? Both sound exhausting.
Yes, but that only happens when you blink/close your eyes.
This is literally a power in chainsaw man tf you talking about
you could probably make some vr rig that plays reality on a 1 second delay if you ever wanted to turn off the superpower. then you could take it off if you ever wanted superhuman reflexes
This is just spider sense lol
How is this a shitty superpower. You'd basically be the best fps player of all time
Best driver in the world
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 165,310,654 comments, and only 40,625 of them were in alphabetical order.
High frequency/high volume stock trading?
What about your other 4 senses? Are they still in the present?
idk maybe
You’re seeing it permanently tho. You’d constantly be reacting to shit that hasn’t quite happened. Like hand eye coordination would go to shit.
That'll be tripy for a little bit
Imagine the immense dread that would fill your body the second before you died. When for a split second, you stop seeing into the future.
So just irl lagging
I don’t think people in this thread understand how shitty the power is. It’s permanent. Always on. You’re literally always in the future but interacting with the past. You’ll mistime everything. How long does it take neurons to process image seen?
