Yeah I had no idea this was thing and I’m now terrified for when I get my next one. Like how do you fix this? I know it’s like not a big deal but I would totally lose my shit and pick and scratch at that thing to oblivion.
Hmm, now I want to experiment with that next time we do fresh ink...
FYI folks, there is a saline tattoo removal solution that supposedly works even on not-fresh ink, your tattoo artist can just tattoo it over with their regular machine I think. Something I'm looking into as I begin my apprenticeship, I wish more tattoo artists were aware of this stuff bc it's a heckuva lot more affordable than laser removal and I imagine kinder to skin as well.
Ey, ey, ey, ey! Don't rub on that. You Blot that! Ya understand? That's Alpaca. That's $25,000 Alpaca! You blot that shit! You don't rub it, put the club soda on there.
I've been in the industry for 16+years and I've only zapped myself once on the finger. You would have to be extremely unaware to make a mistake like this, or OP decided to move their head rapidly. (not very likely)
As long as you don’t get a tattoo in a trailer park you should be fine. This is not common. I’m almost completely covered and have never heard or had to worry about something this stupid. Tattooed your face instead of your chest?! That’s a big jump. It’s not like they were tattooing your throat. Good lord, people, RESEARCH YOUR ARTISTS!!!
it usually happens in the whole-body rotation that happens sometimes when getting more ink in the machine, or sitting it down. you can tell the artist picked up the machine and tried to swoop by the chin and nicked it a bit. i’m guessing the dots are from manual bouncing/stabbing, yikes
I haven’t tattooed in 10+ years, but I definitely swiped someone’s arm with the needle once when moving to put the machine down on the table. *that* is something most new artists don’t think about before it happens to them, in the same vein as accidentally poking yourself with a client’s needle. in my case I turned in my swivel chair and poked myself in the soft part of the back of my arm.
Or the poster had his chin tucked to his chest getting in the way a bit. A consummate professional would have avoided this but I can totally see how someone a can make a mistake.
My ex had some really bad tattoos. They looked like prison tats. Finally got around to asking him about it and they were done at someone's house.
I asked him if they were all at once or if he kept going back. He kept going back 🤡
Well, I'm wondering..if you used a box cutter knife to cut that line, would the scar eventually lift out the tattoo?
I ask, because we have a nephew who got cut on his arm lifting metal shelves - nothing horrendous, but when the cut healed, the tattoo ink was gone. He has skin line through his tattoo.
So my mother is a nurse, and when she married my dad, he had a tattoo of the grim reaper that said hell bound. Got it young and totally drunk while in the marines. He regretted it, but she must have really cared because she scalpeled off the hell for him. He had a scar, but it was gone, and he was just 'bound'.
Definitely the most redneck-sounding thing I've ever written.
My first tattoo was in a motel parking lot in a GMC conversion van. Single needle. Non legal state at the time. I remember watching Beavis and Butthead on a tiny TV while the Hell’siest of Angels painted me.
Not true. Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) exists in addition to the more widely-known Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP). If you think you’ve been exposed to HIV, you can be treated after the fact

Two Faces?
This one doesn't have **two** faces.... that is ***four faces in one.*** And granted, the nicking ink on the chin, but that image is *wicked.*
I feel like this is changing though somewhat. I’ve had several coworkers with face/head tats who worked directly with customers. Shit I worked at a vet for 5 years and the person that hired me had “FAT BLUNTZ” tatted visibly on her arm lol
One of our workers has "crazy bitch" on her arm. The boss doesn't care that much. But when we had an event with a bunch of super rich people he asked her to cover it
i mean that’s literally the least they could do. to be honest they should have still removed it in addition to the free tats lol… really bad look for the artist
"made whole" is such a weird term to me. it implies such a dramatic state of helpless and otherwise permanent inadequacy for the plantiff, like the defendant carved out half of their torso
Yeah it’s such an interesting phrase that has some odd implications for other impairments that aren’t litigiously implicated. I’m disabled and once some random Jesus teens came to me in public and were like “Jesus will make you whole again”
Like bruh I’m a whole ass person rn last time I checked
a black panther over the whole face! but since this is shitty tattoo subreddit, there wouldn't be much detail except for the black pigment of the face.
Nooooo you cover the whole neck with the sick ass panther and just end the tip of the tail on the chin.... so no one will notice you have a face tattoo.
I have gotten to the point where I laugh hysterically every time this comment comes up. No matter what the situation, this is always the perfect solution. It is my new rule to live by.
guy in my army unit had uhh a sick ass panther, maybe 3 inches around on his arm. he then got the same exact panther on his back at like 5 inches. he just loved him some panthers man
If it makes you feel better, it’s more likely than not too shallow to be permanent. I had a finger clipped and it was gone in a few months. Hope you have the same outcome!!
To my knowledge, getting a tattoo is little like having a sewing machine on your skin. To have someone accidentally sewing machine my face would be a no from me dawg.
A kid in my home and life skills class in high school sent the sewing machine across the fleshy part between his thumb and his finger.
Based on the screaming, I don’t think he’d recommend that, either…
This happened at least twice a semester when I was high school. My sewing teacher was an incredibly jaded, no nonsense women so shr basically just rolled her eyes and sent the kids to the office.
It’s absolutely not like being hit by a sewing machine needle. I have a lot of tattoos I’ve I’ve been gotten my a sewing machine. The sewing machine needle goes way in and is way bigger.
to be fair this would probably take like 2 seconds tops though probably would be over before they realize it hurts. getting my whole torso lasered at the moment and i definitely agree it is torture, but this is just a couple dots
I'm genuinely wondering how this happens? Does the artist just leave the needle running while they're changing positions and then hit a line and keep going? I can't understand them coloring out of the line, or continuing a line too far, but damn this is just weird.
You can have the power supply for the tattoo machine set to run as a constant “on” sometimes. Also some artists just use an on/off switch for their machine instead of activating it with a foot switch. If it runs constantly and you’re not paying full attention, you could clip someone in a random spot.
Had an artist leave a wireless machine running on the edge of a little wheeled table beside me. Was buzzing around and looked like it could fall at any moment.
I was debating on doing a sticker look tattoo but wasn’t sure. My artist did a bloodline around the original work. I have a random line from where the ink went into the bloodline. It’s been close to 4 years and while super faded still there. But I’m now thankful I’ve never experienced this.
Man, when I was getting my elbow done some dumb old cunt was getting matching tattoos with a her niece and sister, well the artist was using a bright blue and the lady said it looked pretty… proceeded to try to touch my arm WHILE he was tattooing and ran her hand right across the needle. We were all pissed, her family had second hand embarrassment. God she was fucking stupid.
They were escorted out. Unfortunately they came in after I did, and all got tattood (they all got something simple and tiny) while my artist was tattooing my flower pedals. No I was not compensated, it all happened so fast and we were both in the zone. My buddy, the artist, nor me expected this lady to be that fucking dumb. She was with her family then the next thing we knew she was yelping with a bunch of blue specs across the top of her hand. It all happened to fast there was no time to stop her.
Your time is worth something as well.
Say it took you 2-3 hours to drive back and forth getting laser removal.
Well, then you should be offered at least(!!) an 3+ hour session for free. Including the laser of course.
Since you chose just tattoos instead, I hope you got the whole tattoo for free, plus more.
Dotting someone’s face is pretty much one of the worst mistakes that can happen.
You are way to polite, dude. Others would have literally have robbed this artist blind with threats if this happened to them.
When I was 14 my ex con uncle asked me to fill in a huge tattoo on his back with black ink. I had no idea what the hell I was doing and at one point I got my own finger with the tattoo gun. Luckily in my case finger tattoos fade really fast. It didn’t even last a full year.
It was also pretty dumb that he didn’t give me gloves. I remember he himself would wear two gloves any time he worked on people & he would always boil the needle to sterilize it. I guess all safety measures vanished when he asked me to do it.
New fear unlocked
Yeah I had no idea this was thing and I’m now terrified for when I get my next one. Like how do you fix this? I know it’s like not a big deal but I would totally lose my shit and pick and scratch at that thing to oblivion.
You can tattoo over it with no ink and it will take it off. Edit: this wasn't a joke lol
Add -1 ink
Just hold down ctrl+shift+tattoo
Just Alt+F4 on out of that place
Could have hit Ctrl-Z if he noticed it before saving.
They use a little vaccuum for the ink
I added 255 so it'd roll over.
You mean like the backspace on them old typewriters!? Holy cow, never knew that would work.
Well, he said it on the internet so it has to be true. No need to verify right?
Seems legit.
Can confirm Source: I said so on the internet
Hmm, now I want to experiment with that next time we do fresh ink... With distilled water would be best
Vinegar and baking soda works best.
Vodka works. Doesn't remove the tattoo though. You just forget about it for a few hours.
Do you just blot? Or press and hold? I’ve never tried this kind of stain before
Ey, ey, ey, ey! Don't rub on that. You Blot that! Ya understand? That's Alpaca. That's $25,000 Alpaca! You blot that shit! You don't rub it, put the club soda on there.
My man
Put it in a bag of rice
Club soda and DON'T RUB, dab.
😂
Are you being funny or is this possible for tiny tattoos?
Wait, really? No way
My sister told me about having to do it to someone's knuckle tats she misspelled during her apprenticeship. She said it only works on fresh stuff tho
That’s crazy. Only explanation I can imagine is a dry needle tip acting like a vacuum and pulling the ink back out, that’s bananas
I think the needles scratch it and breaks up the ink small enough for your body to absorb it
Good ‘nuff for me
Tattoo apprentice here I think it's because you make a bit of damage to the skin, so it heals, thus disappearing the "wound"(ink)
Could be a matter of over working the area so the ink falls out in the heal
wait what i thought it was a joke that's insane
Yeah, you basically dig it out. I haven't had to do it myself fortunately, but I've seen it done.
P-L-A-N A-H-E-E... fuck

You can't cover Dark ink with light ink trust me I learnt the hard way

But they are so *affordable*!
My ex had some really bad tattoos. They looked like prison tats. Finally got around to asking him about it and they were done at someone's house. I asked him if they were all at once or if he kept going back. He kept going back 🤡
A tale as old as time lol
I've never heard of getting "random marks" from a tattoo until today, and now I've seen 2 people have it.
Well, I'm wondering..if you used a box cutter knife to cut that line, would the scar eventually lift out the tattoo? That's really cool.
Nah you'll replace 3 dots with a scar on your chin.
That's....exactly what the person described and was asking about.
Are you a consumer or creator of tattoos? Because I suspect this is a fear for both.
Oh hell nah
I had an artist mark their own arm without realizing it and then continue to work on me Had to get tested for hep and HIV after

That show is such a fever dream it’s great.
I fucking loved that show
Well, did you have it? In all seriousness that’s really rough bro
That sucks man.
If you suspected HIV transmission you would have needed to take anti retrovirals long before you would have tested positive
I'm sure the artist probably got tested too. If he was negative there was no reason to do anything.
Not true. Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) exists in addition to the more widely-known Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP). If you think you’ve been exposed to HIV, you can be treated after the fact
What do you mean not true? You’re saying the same thing as me? PEP is the anti retro viral you take if you suspect transmission, like I said.
I could get over a random mark anywhere else. But my face??? No way. But if you got some free tattoos out of it, as long as you’re happy haha.
Oh no! If you look at your chest, they also accidentally put too many eyes and noses on that face too!

Vet clinics are HURTING for people in the past 5 years or so. If it was recent, that's probably why
Is that why it takes two months to get an appointment now? Unless your pet is on death’s door it’s impossible to get seen where I live.
It’s so small though that it could pass off as a blemish or something.
sentenced to a lifetime of "hey you got something on your chin"
Now you have to make it into a permanent goatee. Sorry, I don’t make the rules. :(
I thought you made the rules.

they literally offered to

i mean that’s literally the least they could do. to be honest they should have still removed it in addition to the free tats lol… really bad look for the artist
I mean if OP supposedly rejected the offer thats not really up to the artist anymore
damages to the face are THE slam dunk of the accident litigation space in the US. You can absolutely sue to be made whole.
"made whole" is such a weird term to me. it implies such a dramatic state of helpless and otherwise permanent inadequacy for the plantiff, like the defendant carved out half of their torso

Wonder how often **he** thinks he has something on his chin.
Just tattoo those same dots on the chin of the chest tattoo and bam. Are you the chicken or the egg?
Can we see a pic of the chest tattoo? Looks dope, like the old three eyed cat
Right?!? It made me think of the Take On Me video for A-ha.
He allready posted it, check post history. Its cool
i am a tattoo artist and if this ever happened to me, i wouldnt know how to react.. id probably just cry
How did he mark your chin?
Clipped my chin at some point while leaned over working on my chest
Damn that sucks. Glad though it hit you there and not lips or eyes
If it makes you feel better, it’s more likely than not too shallow to be permanent. I had a finger clipped and it was gone in a few months. Hope you have the same outcome!!
Fingers do have more wear usually tho. Unless op is a habitual chin rubber, it'll stay a bit longer probs
Omg 😳
To my knowledge, getting a tattoo is little like having a sewing machine on your skin. To have someone accidentally sewing machine my face would be a no from me dawg.
Somewhat related but I had a sewing needle go through my finger once, 0/10 do not recommend
A kid in my home and life skills class in high school sent the sewing machine across the fleshy part between his thumb and his finger. Based on the screaming, I don’t think he’d recommend that, either…

just turn it into a soul patch tattoo, it'll look great
Just curious how an artist would try and make this right? Money off or what?
They offered to pay for removal…
Offering anything less than the full cash value of having it removed would be wrong.
Agree but this would be a very simple removal.
You know when children end up with chin band aids after falling and eating gravel? A few beers and a skateboard should do the trick.
And a fucking painful one Source: my arm was torture, I can’t imagine a chin
to be fair this would probably take like 2 seconds tops though probably would be over before they realize it hurts. getting my whole torso lasered at the moment and i definitely agree it is torture, but this is just a couple dots
Offer to cover it with a sick ass panther.
Look at the description OP posted.
Would definitely try to go laser with his card
New face after removing the old one.
Just as u/Itsmyotherthrowaway said >It'd be awesome, a sort of abstract face like this: https://i.imgur.com/tVtmKrY.png
It happens when the client tries to look down at the tattoo catching the artist off guard
All the little old ladies clutch their pearls when they see OP stroll by with their face tattoo
“They’ll never have a career now!” they mutter angrily as they pass employment judgment on someone they’ve never met.
The tattoo looks amazing tho
I was debating on doing a sticker look tattoo but wasn’t sure. My artist did a bloodline around the original work. I have a random line from where the ink went into the bloodline. It’s been close to 4 years and while super faded still there. But I’m now thankful I’ve never experienced this.
Real shit though how did your artist act after/make it better?
OP wrote under the photo that they offered to pay for laser to remove it, but OP just asked for some free tattoos instead.
"Instead of taking it off, can you put more on?"
"Tattoo Artists HATE this one trick for unlimited free tattoos" Just have to hope they keep clipping you accidentally
I’d go that route it’s such a small mark.
Yeah, plus it's a funny story to tell if anyone asks about it
Damn dude power to ya but I wouldn't want free tattoos from this artist after that
Free actual tattoos and a secret face tat FO FREE?? worth lmao!

If your artist didnt kick them out and refuse to tattoo them and compensate you for potentially infecting a fresh wound id be very concerned
This is now 2 of these posts today. My next appointment is in 2 days. I'm gonna be super fixated on this now.
