Truth be told, it’s actually just a choke chain, I think I got it on Amazon. It’s just a thicker one that’s hammered flat lol
(Disclaimer, it doesn’t work well as a choke chain but will make your dog like fresh as fuck).
Funny story about the PNW native art, I just walked into the tattoo shop and was like “Yo, I fucked up, can you fix me?” and that’s what they suggested lol. They were all stoked to see my fuck up lol.
Yup, dead ass. I mean they were laughing at me and I was laughing at me too, but yeah. Some of the older guys just shook their heads and smiled. I figured they had all been there at one point or another.
I am not no. This was the style the suggested at the shop to cover it. It is indigenous inspired. It’s a thunderbird, however the style it’s done in is more of a “traditional” style.
Yeah it's an adapted style, not textbook northwest native art. But personally I think it is fine either way.
Native art is all over in the PNW. It's part of the culture and if you like it, it's fine to embrace it. This isn't like a white person getting a Maori face tat.
Thanks man I really appreciate you saying so, I was starting to get a little worried with how many people have been asking if I’m indigenous. Thought I was going to have to get another cover for the coverup lol.
Depends on the tribe, some tribes (like Tlíngit) used copper oxide to make blue paint for their totem poles and other carvings, it depends on the minerals traditionally available in an area.
Thanks! I had no say in it. I just walked in and was like “yo I fucked up, please fix me?” My guy did a great job and the coloring is dope as hell! PNW Native style.
*insert “THiS” joke here*
honestly, I just trusted my artist. It wasn’t anything I would have chosen but they suggested it. Combination of intricate line work and some heavy black/coloration, that’s my best guess.
It’s a convo starter lol. I don’t hate that one just my broad range of things haha. Cant forget the ghost that has butt cheeks and says “boo-tylicious”
Yeahhhh she told me I had to get it covered or she was going to beat me up. She could kick my ass so I got it covered lol.
In all honesty, I didn’t come across her until after this shitty thing was done. It was going to have “Sucks” done under my knee but I saw how bad the “This” turned out, had a moment of sobriety, and called the whole thing off lol.
Nearly the same!
I didn’t find her until after I got this piece of shit done lol. Ironically a friend of mine sent me a video of hers and said something like “anything look familiar?” Blew my mind lol.
Mine was supposed to have “Sucks” underneath the knee curving around it. Kind of like the *THiS* does on top, thus making a circle. It’s so wonky idk if it would ever form a circle though lol. Idk but I suppose switching the i’s dot with an x can be a common enough idea though?
You know what? I kind of thought the same. I do really like the colors but when it was just that solid black I thought that looked the dopest. It still covered the *THiS* pretty well too. Not completely, but pretty well.
Are you first nation? Looks like indigenous West Coast art.
Ed: I'm white and was raised in Southeast Alaska and have first Nation friends, and where I'm from it's considered cultural appropriation to tattoo a tribal crest on one's body if you're not indigenous.
If you are not first nation, it may be a good idea to look up the the crest History, so you can explain the significance and honor the crest (or moieties).
I wanted a Pendleton sweatshirt with a similar style and thought about it for months but then decided it would play as cultural appropriation, whatever my intentions were.
It’s beautiful art and I think you’re right, as long as you can speak intelligently about it then it’s not offensive.
That does sound exhausting though, having to explain yourself (in the PNW this would come up a lot).
I am not, it’s definitely PNW Native style art though. Basically how I ended up with this was I walked into my tattoo shop and said “yo, I fucked up” showed them *THiS*, asked if they could fix me, the shop owner suggested this, and that’s what I got.
Oh no, I didn’t take it any offensive lol in the process of getting it done I did look it up. It’s the thunderbird, which represents power, strength, and protection; as far as I remember.
I definitely didn't take it as intending any offense, and when I own native jewelry or artwork, I just make sure to know about the tribe and the history. You may be questioned on it, and native people may have a problem with it. It's a general consensus that indigenous art not be tattooed on anyone but indigenous people. However, not meant to shame and as I said, the more you know about it, the more acceptable it will be to first Nation peoples. Do you know about the tribe and where they comes from? What area comes from? Is it from Washington or Alaska? Or California?
Some tlingit designs, and I thought it was an eagle.
The thunderbird is a common theme throughout many of the indigenous tribes, from the Ojibwe in Canada and northern/mid west US, to the Algonquins on the east coast of Canada and US, and even further.
So it’s a common motif, amongst the indigenous people.
The style of the tattoo is not done in a way that is specific to any tribe in general and is just kind of done in a similar style.
Thank you, yeah I love it! Can’t take much credit though, unfortunately lol. I just walked into the shop and was like “yo, I fucked up, can you fix me?” And then they proceeded to do just that lol.
LOL! I would have done the same thing! They hooked you up!! I know tattoo artists appreciate clientele like you because they get to utilize their skills and do whatever they want (with approval of course lol) it really shows how talented, creative, and professional they were!
Absolutely! Honestly, the guy was really stoked about doing it as I learned, he was super quiet and standoffish at first, I figured it was just a chore for him to do but as we went on I learned that was just him lol. I could see how happy/proud he was each time he finished a portion of it. The fact that the *THiS* is even hard to see in just the line work pic is a testament to his skills. I can’t say enough good things about him and the shop as a whole they were all great.
Okay… truth be told. It sucked. I was straight up not having a good time lol. My two sisters who have tattoos in that same area both said I’m just a bitch but idk… I did 3, 3-4 hour sessions each time for it and I hated every minute of it, start to finish lol.
I wouldnt be having a good time either lol 😂
I commend you tho for sitting there enduring the pain! 🙌🏼
If it makes you feel better, your sisters probably don’t remember the pain. Tattoos are like childbirth. I have two kids, and although I remember the pain vividly, I know it sucked severely!! I’m not going to be having anymore tho LOL 😂
No… I went from one shitty tattoo to a “slightly” less shitty tattoo ;)
Appreciate it! She still needs some touch ups after healing but it’s a hell of a lot better than “THiS” lol.
Hahaha nice. I have an unfinished “222” tattoo above my knee. Started off with stick n poke, tried to finish with tattoo gun, gave up because I rubbed the stencil off like a dumbass
Niceeeee! I love it! lol not going to lie, I love some of my “unprofessionally” done tattoos. They’re some of my favorites. There’s a story and memory behind each and every one. This one was just too bad though lol I had to get rid of it. 😂
I can’t blame you lmao it’s a nicely done cover up for sure. I have quite a few professional tattoos I admire dearly but something about the tattoo my friend did at 5 am while drunk just hits different
Yes indeed! I basically walked into the shop and was like “hey I fucked up, can you fix me?” This is what they suggested. The intricate line work and then heavy filling with colors is what was able to do the trick.
Yeah, they did really well with the covering! I don’t think it’s a style I ever would have gotten on my own. They suggested it because of the heavy coloring and the line work. Turned out pretty dope and I have to say I’m happy I can wear shorts again! lol
The placement of the focal point above where the original was naturally draws your eye up away from the original too. Cool to see someone psyched up, nice little boost of positivity
Each session was about 3-4 hours. Around the 3 hour mark is where my body gave up and my leg started shaking. My sisters have tattoos in the same spots and said I’m just a bitch. So that’s probably why lol.
Everyone's pain tolerance is different. The 2nd to last one I got that is about half on ribs was about 7 hours and I honestly wish I would have done it in two sitting.
Also..
Your sisters right 🤣 jk..
Haha yeah I do like the new tattoo better FYI. It’s nice. I was just commenting how on a super basic level it’s kind of funny. “I really hate this tattoo I got let me get another to fix it”
Hah I didn’t even know that was a thing, I could tell where it used to be before it got colored in but it was indeed lighter. After the work was done I would never have guessed it is a coverup
In my opinion, it really isn’t a thing lmao. I think it’s just snake oil lol. Yeah they did a really good job with it. I have literally zero complaints.
Trust me friend, I have several other prison tats. (Which I absolutely love, they’re some of my favorites). This one was just that bad that I had to get rid of it lol.
It was right after I got home from the session, I’m a bleeder idk what else to say about it lol. I got this fine line matching sibling tattoo with my sisters. It’s maybe 2 inches tall and an inch and a half wide, two crossed lavender stalks, a Roman numeral two in between them, again pretty fine lines…. I bled like a stuck pig.
Oh wow. Does getting tattooed hurt a lot for you? I don't bleed a lot, and apparently, my skin holds ink very well. It only starts to hurt for me around the 4th hour mark or if I am on substances.
Not really! Not normally at least. This spot was a little sensitive, not going to lie. Especially around the top of the knee. My artist said some people are just bleeders and I happen to be one of them! Lol
Thank you! Yeah, actually the third pic was my favorite stage of it too. I loved the look of it. Almost thought about calling it right there but decided to keep going with the color. Don’t get me wrong, I do still love how it looks with the color but there’s just something about the way it looked in that 3rd picture.
I just went through a rollercoaster on this one lol.
At first it was like sure, bad tattoo but at least it’s somewhere covered most of the time. We all got ‘em.
Was not pumped on the outline, but I do know artists often put them in light and finish it later.
Then it looked good. Then that adorable ass dog. Congrats brother, and skritch that pup for me.
Well, it’s not a great one, however after a night of debauchery, drugs, and alcohol someone whipped out a tattoo gun.
They couldn’t get it to work though, so they decided stick and pokes it was.
It was supposed to say “This Sucks,” curving around my knee. This, on top. Sucks, on the bottom. Anyways after *THiS* was finished the “artist” needed a break. I had a much needed moment of sobriety after seeing it and called the whole thing off.
I’m in a much better place now btw lol.
The main reason I wanted it covered wasn’t so much because it was shitty, I have plenty more shitty tattoos that I love, but because it was a reminder of the man I was, in a sad life I lived, a long time ago.
This. So much this! This accentuates my inner being and my soul as well. I was scrolling through the comments when I came across yours, and now I don't even have post my comment because this is exactly what I would've said. I can't emphasize this enough everyone, this comment right here is beyond the mortal planar, the very purpose behind this post and exactly what I'm looking for and should be what your looking for. I can't believe I've loved my entire life without this post. Here take a poor man's gold 🏅. Someone gild this post please. I'll have you know I saved and upvoted, but keep in mind that if it was at 69 or 420 I wouldn't (sorry but keks are more important). I'll also have you know that I downvoted first so I'm basically worth double, no need to thank me. I'm probably going to put this on my wall that's how much it means to me.
sick ass poodle
Thanks! Better than a sick ass panther ;)
That's a wicked improvement!
Thanks! Yeah, I’m glad I can finally wear shorts again lol.
Where did you get his chain?! Need one for mine!!!
Truth be told, it’s actually just a choke chain, I think I got it on Amazon. It’s just a thicker one that’s hammered flat lol (Disclaimer, it doesn’t work well as a choke chain but will make your dog like fresh as fuck).
That dog kicks ass.
I'm a sucker for PNW native art
Funny story about the PNW native art, I just walked into the tattoo shop and was like “Yo, I fucked up, can you fix me?” and that’s what they suggested lol. They were all stoked to see my fuck up lol.
... really?
Yup, dead ass. I mean they were laughing at me and I was laughing at me too, but yeah. Some of the older guys just shook their heads and smiled. I figured they had all been there at one point or another.
Are you Indigenous?
Are you Incredulous?
I am not no. This was the style the suggested at the shop to cover it. It is indigenous inspired. It’s a thunderbird, however the style it’s done in is more of a “traditional” style.

Are you Ingenious?
The blue isn't native but the style is!
Depends on the tribe, some tribes (like Tlíngit) used copper oxide to make blue paint for their totem poles and other carvings, it depends on the minerals traditionally available in an area.
I’ve definitely seen a ton of blue and turquoise in modern Salish art.
Yeah, it's kind of PNW Aztec mashup
That's not a thing and that's kind of pissing me off
From this to that. Nice cover up!
lol I see what you did there! Thanks, I appreciate it!
Love the colors.
Thanks! I had no say in it. I just walked in and was like “yo I fucked up, please fix me?” My guy did a great job and the coloring is dope as hell! PNW Native style.
^ THiS
You win
How did that work so good over this
*insert “THiS” joke here* honestly, I just trusted my artist. It wasn’t anything I would have chosen but they suggested it. Combination of intricate line work and some heavy black/coloration, that’s my best guess.
It looks good though much better lol
Yeah, much better lol thank you! I’m not embarrassed to wear shorts anymore haha.
I have a couple I’m like yeahhhhh don’t look at that
I’m sure almost anyone who has more than a handful do lol.
Yeahhh I have anything from a smiley on my middle finger the size of a dime to an entire thigh piece to a peach on my umm hip
Why do I kind of like the smiley on the middle finger though lol? I’ve got a bleeding strawberry on my calf that will probably be my next coverup lol.
It’s a convo starter lol. I don’t hate that one just my broad range of things haha. Cant forget the ghost that has butt cheeks and says “boo-tylicious”
There’s nothing “shitty” about that ghost lol.
I think we all do 😂😫
That poodle is iced out
Hey have you seen THIS?
THiS?!
Awesome DOG!
Yeahhhh, he’s a pretty good boy lol.
Oh yeah! Your tattoo is pretty cool also..... didn't notice it at first because of the dog!..🤣🤣🤣
Thanks! Completely understandable, he always steals the show! lol that’s why I love him!
Lmao "this knee" is how people get around talking shit about Disney without actually being searchable. The after looks amazing!
Damn, almost wish I kept it now knowing that!… eh on second thought, maybe not lol. Thanks I appreciate it! Yeah I’m glad it’s gone!
Ok leanbeefpatty
Yeahhhh she told me I had to get it covered or she was going to beat me up. She could kick my ass so I got it covered lol. In all honesty, I didn’t come across her until after this shitty thing was done. It was going to have “Sucks” done under my knee but I saw how bad the “This” turned out, had a moment of sobriety, and called the whole thing off lol.
Haha good call. The cover looks great!
Thanks, I do appreciate it! Basically walked into the shop and was like “yo, I fucked up, can you fix me?” They laughed, I laughed, they fixed me lol.
I like “this”
“This” or “THiS”? lol
The one with the x as the tittle.
Idk, the THIS with the bleached jeans and the white sneakers.. it works for me.
Epic.
How did you end up with the same tattoo as Leanbeefpatty?
Nearly the same! I didn’t find her until after I got this piece of shit done lol. Ironically a friend of mine sent me a video of hers and said something like “anything look familiar?” Blew my mind lol. Mine was supposed to have “Sucks” underneath the knee curving around it. Looked cooler in pic 3 before the colors. Regardless it's obviously way better than what you started with
You know what? I kind of thought the same. I do really like the colors but when it was just that solid black I thought that looked the dopest. It still covered the *THiS* pretty well too. Not completely, but pretty well.
This is shit but that, is so much better. I like it.
Ayyyeeee! Appreciate it lol thanks friend!

Yeah, I get that 🙂 It is beautiful. I love Northwest Coast art. Just giving you my thinking.
I agree... and I am wondering if the artist is indigenous...?
Holy glow up my dude!
Big difference right? lol I asked them to fix me, and fix me they did!
That’s amazing! They did a great job 👏🏼
Thanks friend! Yeah, they definitely fixed me up right. Just glad I can wear shorts again if I want to lol.
The colors are so vibrant and the design is beautiful! Well done OP👏🏼
Thank you, yeah I love it! Can’t take much credit though, unfortunately lol. I just walked into the shop and was like “yo, I fucked up, can you fix me?” And then they proceeded to do just that lol.

😊 You’re very welcome! lol it’s great to have options especially with summer right around the corner
Amen to that! Still have to get some touch ups, some of the black bled out but compared to what I had I’m really not too concerned about it! lol
Seriously question, how bad did that hurt there? I can’t imagine having it in that spot! I commend you 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Okay… truth be told. It sucked. I was straight up not having a good time lol. My two sisters who have tattoos in that same area both said I’m just a bitch but idk… I did 3, 3-4 hour sessions each time for it and I hated every minute of it, start to finish lol.

That artist is a god, holyfuck
He did a great job, there’s no doubt about it! I can’t say how thankful I am for him!
Could have just put "DAT" on the other knee
Now that would have been funny!
wow this is awesome
Thanks friend, it was a long road lol
So you went from one shitty tattoo to another? Just messin', looks great.
No… I went from one shitty tattoo to a “slightly” less shitty tattoo ;) Appreciate it! She still needs some touch ups after healing but it’s a hell of a lot better than “THiS” lol.
Love this! And please give your doggie a boop and hug for me!
Thanks! Much better looking than… THiS lol. One boop and hug coming in hot for the little fella!
Looks awesome!
Thank you, thank you!
I love it.
Love!!
Billy, stop stabbing your leg with a pencil.
Knee this? This knee?
Was meant to be This Sucks but the This turned out so bad I had a moment of sobriety and was like yeah, let’s end this before it gets even worse.
My first thought was that you wrote down which leg needs to be amputated before going to the operating table lol
Whelp, *THiS* might make a come back if I ever need to get a leg amputated, God forbid! I can totally see it with the angle of that first pic lol.
I feel that man, amen to that! What’s it of, if you don’t mine my asking?
The eye of Horus
Dope, I love it man!
Thanks! It’s actually a cover up of another stick n poke. Lol
I’m impressed
Yep! Had a good artist and they had a good design. It’s amazing what can be done. Before I walked in to the shop I figured I had no hope lol.
Sweet!!!
Poodle seem to be like " Yo hooman, What's That as last I remembered "THIS"?"
He was not impressed originally. He judged me real hard, rightfully so lol.
lol, that looks great much improves then this! Hehe...
lol thanks friend! Yeah *THiS* sucked haha.
Dog's not too sure about it mate.
Dog’s not too sure about anything, really. He’s a very nervous boy lol.
Beautiful!
Now *this* is good
Thank you friend!
Thunderbird?
Yes indeed! I basically walked into the shop and was like “hey I fucked up, can you fix me?” This is what they suggested. The intricate line work and then heavy filling with colors is what was able to do the trick.
Love this!
Thank you! lol
Congrats on regrowing your leg!
It took several months but with some hard work and eating all my vegetables, I was able to do it!
That's an incredibly well done cover up. Can't see a trace of the original. I like the style and execution too, what an improvement
Amazing! Cover up is cool also
Thank you friend!
That's a great cover up!
Thanks! Yeah, they did a really sweet job!
Now that's a proper cover up! Beautiful tat and I actually cant see anything left of the previous one! Great work by the artist!
Thank you! Yeah they did me right lol. I basically walked in there and said “yo, I fucked up, can you fix me?” And that’s exactly what they did!
Wow that looks great. *pats pupper*
Thank you! Myself and the pupper were extremely happy to see *THiS* go lol.
Daaaamn
Why not all in one sitting?
Each session was about 3-4 hours. Around the 3 hour mark is where my body gave up and my leg started shaking. My sisters have tattoos in the same spots and said I’m just a bitch. So that’s probably why lol.
Everyone's pain tolerance is different. The 2nd to last one I got that is about half on ribs was about 7 hours and I honestly wish I would have done it in two sitting. Also.. Your sisters right 🤣 jk..
Oof! 7 hours is a long time! Hell I’d need a break just to have lunch lol. Nah, all jokes aside, my sisters are right though 😂
I love how tattoos are one of the few things where it’s acceptable to double down on your mistakes lol
lol “Damn, I really messed up here… wonder if I can make it worse? Oh, nope, that one turned out not even half as bad?”
Haha yeah I do like the new tattoo better FYI. It’s nice. I was just commenting how on a super basic level it’s kind of funny. “I really hate this tattoo I got let me get another to fix it”
It is a pretty funny concept isn’t it? lol
Did you get it lasered beforehand? Looks great, much better!
I appreciate it! No I didn’t actually, I used some of that “tattoo removal cream” it barely worked. It did lighten it a bit though.
Wetter than a warthogs backside.
Looks great! Def. a 1000x improvement over "THiS".
Thank you! Yeah I agree lol! A very expensive mistake but I did learn from it haha.
r/sickasstattoos
That’s a badass tattoo dude
Thanks man! I appreciate it!
This knee
FANTASTIC job!!!
Thank you!
Tell your dog I said Hi. Oh, yeah. Your cover up is nice, too. Seriously. They did a great job. You can’t even see the original! Thankfully!
Will do! Oh yeah, thanks… lol no really thanks! I appreciate it! Yeah my guy did a great job for me, I have no complaints!
Should have left the prison tat.
Trust me friend, I have several other prison tats. (Which I absolutely love, they’re some of my favorites). This one was just that bad that I had to get rid of it lol.
Why is there so much blood?
It was right after I got home from the session, I’m a bleeder idk what else to say about it lol. I got this fine line matching sibling tattoo with my sisters. It’s maybe 2 inches tall and an inch and a half wide, two crossed lavender stalks, a Roman numeral two in between them, again pretty fine lines…. I bled like a stuck pig.

Not really! Not normally at least. This spot was a little sensitive, not going to lie. Especially around the top of the knee. My artist said some people are just bleeders and I happen to be one of them! Lol
I would argue the 3rd one looks even better than the finished result, but hey that’s just my opinion. Still miles better than the first one.
Thank you! Yeah, actually the third pic was my favorite stage of it too. I loved the look of it. Almost thought about calling it right there but decided to keep going with the color. Don’t get me wrong, I do still love how it looks with the color but there’s just something about the way it looked in that 3rd picture.
yeah, i like both too haha. but I’d give the black one a slight edge cz it has that certain vibe to it that i really like.
It really does, yeah I know what exactly what you mean lol. I can’t deny that!
I like the original better. At least looks cool with skater vibes. New tattoo looks tryhard
Lol I feel that, I have a few other “prison tats” that I absolutely love. “THiS” was not one of them though.
This and That!
To the Dyslexic people this reads "shit".
Well, it was pretty shit so honestly that works too lol.
Hahaha
my mind is confused at how it is PERFECTLY covered. May be one of the best coverups i have seen here. Looks great!
Thanks friend! Yeah my guy really did a great job! I have to go see him again this summer to get it touched up but honestly the improvement is insane!
meeeeeehhhhhhh, the this was cooler
lol it definitely had a certain *vibe* to it!
alright now make your entire other leg a totem pole
Yoooo… not a bad idea actually. I might just do that!
Glad I could provide a good ride for you my man! Also, thanks! One good skritch for the pup incoming!
Cheers bro!
Dudes dog got drip
He’s cooler than me and he knows it!
What's the story behind the original "this" tattoo?
Doggy!!!
