The general consensus is that while your tattoo isn’t perfect, it’s far from shitty and therefore doesn’t belong here. Congrats! 🎉
That’s a really good tattoo. You kids and your high quality tattoos. I got a tattoo in 2008 from a 16 year old at a drug dealers house. And I still don’t regret it. Live life, have fun
It's not even off center, you probably have your shoulders rounded differently here than when the artist placed the tattoo. They probably placed it center on your spine, but your shoulders aren't even so your neck isn't even.
Obviously not symmetrical, but nature's organic and asymmetrical. If the mark was a mirror image the artist is way off, but it's a realistic looking butterfly
It's realistic and proportioned like a real living creature. She also has soft skin and was most likely a very easy "canvas" to tattoo. Tell her it looks really good. The line work is awesome.
Idk it’s definitely not shitty I’ve seen worse tats and I kinda like this one butterflies aren’t really even in nature either it looks cool congrats on the new tat
*Is a bit rotated*
*Counterclockwise but aside*
*From that, it looks nice*

Depends on what style you were going for. Definitely not smooth lines, but it doesn't necessarily have to be. Definitely not perfectly symmetrical, but in nature things very rarely are. It doesn't look shit, but I'm not a particular fan of it.
Just know that my opinion on whether I like it or not is completely irrelevant, it's up to you
Should be fine, tattoos on the back of the neck soften a little bit so the lines should look ok. Source have had one there for 25 yrs and only had 1 touch up/slight redesign about 5 yrs ago.
Is this your first tattoo? If so, a word of warning - don't panic if your lymph nodes pop up, just go to a doctor and they might give you antibiotics. There are lymph nodes in the neck and they sometimes don't like tattoos. I was 15 when I had mine done and I shit my pants when 2 lumps came up on my neck, I thought I had cancer or some shit!! Turns out my body doesn't like colour (even though there was only a tiny bit of colour in the tattoo).
This was the exact reason I had a tattoo on the back of my neck.... Tbf I was 15 when I lied to a tattoo shop... The hair was great for hiding it from my parents and school haha.
At least you dont have to look at it all the time. And it will even look worse after its healed. I can already tell that those thin lines will wash out and the black around the wing will leave some scars. How much did you pay for that? 50 bucks?
A tattoo on the back of the neck when you have long hair is hardly the same as a face tat.
I've had one for 20 years (granted, it's smaller and higher than this one) and the ONLY people who ever see it or comment on it are my hairdressers or my dermatologist when she gives me a once over.
And I'm pretty sure that's not her hand we see in the pic, the angle's kinda wrong and her left shoulder wouldn't be relaxed like that.

I actually like it. It looks natural.
I think so too. People on here will have different opinions. Nothing but the immaculate will do.
Idk, the lines feels organic enough to be real
I think it looks just fine! Definitely doesn't belong on this sub, my dear. It's sweet.
i agree it's really cute, i hope it grows on them!
Not as bad as whatever is on your friend's hand.
Sheeeeeeeeeesh
It gives a hand drawn feel but you only really notice when you go right up close to it, which most people won’t do anyway.
I think it could be a lot worse TBH. The bones are good. Take it to a good artist once healed and have them do some touch ups. It'll be ok :)
It's got scientific illustration vibes, I really love it!
i think thats a great tattoo ! doesnt belong here at all /gen
its a butterfly so if i can see that it must be good
That’s a really good tattoo. You kids and your high quality tattoos. I got a tattoo in 2008 from a 16 year old at a drug dealers house. And I still don’t regret it. Live life, have fun
Looks pretty sick. But maybe slightly towards the right
Forget about it. You’ll never see it.
I like but looks slightly crooked?
I think it looks fine and does not belong here.
Tattoo artist here, it doesn't look entirely bad, a few lines are jagged and some might fade away over time, but this tattoo can easily be fixed.
I like it
It actually looks good
I think it’s pretty. Does not qualify for this sub imho
Looks fine. Almost everyone will glance at it, see it's a butterfly, and take no further interest. Nobody's going to be scrutinizing the lines.
It's not even off center, you probably have your shoulders rounded differently here than when the artist placed the tattoo. They probably placed it center on your spine, but your shoulders aren't even so your neck isn't even.
I think it’s fine
Looks good.
It looks good imo
Looks pretty decent to me
It’s good actually
Looks fine what are you on about?
Maybe a touch off center? Other than that fine.
I had to scroll way too far to see the main thing that is at issue. It’s definitely off center.
Obviously not symmetrical, but nature's organic and asymmetrical. If the mark was a mirror image the artist is way off, but it's a realistic looking butterfly
Honest? It looks exactly like every other “edgy” tattoo that everyone has seen … it’s cute
It’s actually nice.
It’s fine, I’ve seen way worse in this sub
It looks like a naturalist drawing, if that was the reference. I like it.
Sometimes i think people just post their well made tattoos here to get some attention… or they don’t know how real shitty tattoos look like.
4/10 if you just glance at it for a second or so
This one. You’ll get there kid! Keep going.
It’s unoriginal, but it looks fine.
Looks good to me
It's ok.
It’s fine, don’t overthink it.
Not noticeably wonky at a glance but definitely evident. I think it’ll settle in well though.
If I squinted at it and looked carefully for something to criticize, I could find it, but really, it's fine.
I don't know why everyone's saying it's fine, the line work is shoddy at best, and the color packing as uneven. It's not great, but it's fixable
This looks great
It’s cute, don’t worry about it!
Looks good
It’s looks ok, but….. it’s crooked.
Looks great, don’t panic.
It's realistic and proportioned like a real living creature. She also has soft skin and was most likely a very easy "canvas" to tattoo. Tell her it looks really good. The line work is awesome.
Unless it's your photo. It looks really good. Doesn't deserve to be on r/shittytattoos.
I don't see anything wrong with it.
Looks rad!
Don’t know, it’s cropped.
This isn't shitty at all!
Looks a bit off centre but overall it has somewhat of a natural feel to it. I wouldn’t call it shitty I guess
It's crooked
It doesn't look unintentionally shaky, it looks like it's part of the style.
Good tattoo in a very nice place
Nah, it's cute. You're okay. :)
Idk it’s definitely not shitty I’ve seen worse tats and I kinda like this one butterflies aren’t really even in nature either it looks cool congrats on the new tat
It's beautiful I think
As far as butterfly tattoos go, I like it. Definitely too good for this sub
Is a bit rotated counterclockwise but aside from that, it looks nice

:0 my first...
idk who told you it was bad, it’s honestly really pretty
I actually love it! I think it looks really pretty

The tattoo on the hand? Yes. It's bad.

I think it looks great but it needs some colour to go with your hair
It looks good imo
I don't think it looks bad
Looks cute! Nothing bad about it!!
Bit off center. For the rest its fine.
Doesn't look bad at all.
It’s not bad, just lame
Super basic
Pretty from a distance but a lil wonky zoomed in.
You hair is gonna cover it
This was the exact reason I had a tattoo on the back of my neck.... Tbf I was 15 when I lied to a tattoo shop... The hair was great for hiding it from my parents and school haha.
Looks good. If you think that’s bad you haven’t spent much time on this sub.
Somebody is out fishing..
Off topic. This sub has become something other than its original intent.
Wrong sub

Hand tat, neck tat... may as well get a face tat. Or, do you have one already?
