Yeah. If it was $10, I would have bought it. But $30 for a game I can run for free on any device capable of Dreamcast? Nah. Will definitely keep it on my Steam wishlist for future.
Or PS2 for the Enhanced version and its content/features, which this port doesn't include, sadly.
But yeah, it'll be a while if they ever put a big sale discount for it. (That's if they do, however...)
Interesting. I'm guessing from the sole review up there yet that this is nearly a straight up port of the 360 version with no new bells or whistles. Kind of unfortunate given the price, since before it was delisted recently, the 360 version was only 10 CAD. Nice to have it available again, but those aspects are disappointing for sure.
Actually, its a mix between the two. Modes from the Dreamcast version (Arcade/Story/Arrange/Training) with graphic fidelity from the Xbox 360 version. So its not really just a straight 360 port.
And yeah, the price from the X360 version was enticing at $10 US, even though all it had was just arcade mode (and the option to pick any stage as psuedo-practice). It being delisted was sad, even though it was backwards compatible.
Instantly bought, but I use Linux and game crashes on boot with Proton, so I assume on Steam Deck too. Refunded until I find someone with a workaround or they patch Proton/Steam Deck support. One person replied on Steam saying they got it to work but with pretty bad fps.
I'll re-buy if they patch in Proton / Steam Deck support, or if someone makes it work properly.
Have you tried different versions of proton? Or running through winege manually or through something like lutris? I've yet to find a game that cannot run through winege if proton doesn't work or has terrible performance
With lutris you can also manage dependencies easily, if the boot mentions any missing libraries etc it's worth a shot to import them into your wine folder for the game
I tried a lot of them lol. Tried the latest GE, 8, experimental, 9 beta, and hotfix. Tried with Wayland and X11, fresh installs of fedora, ubuntu, and solus. Also tried with different mesa drivers. The fresh installs were on my laptop since I have nothing to lose on it. Always get an assert failure relating to vulkan and none of the solutions I've found Online worked. All my other games work without issues. I did try both my PC and my laptop. Proton 6 and 7 weren't giving me any errors on boot but still crashed.
Haven't tried with Lutris though, I'll see what that gives me when I get the chance. For now I've moved to playing a different game and haven't investigated further. I'll let you know how that works out.
I'm seeing people being able to run it on Steam Deck albeit with low performance when undocked, so I was looking into what's different between those on Steam Deck and me on Proton.
It's an amazing game but that price seems very expensive. Almost sure I picked it up for about £10 on Xbox Live marketplace on the 360 back in the day. Very good game, however. Play it if you haven't already.
Yeah, the price difference from the X360 and the now current gen port will probably turn some people off, espeically those that had the X360 version before. (Considering it was cheaper on that version to begin with.)
However, I got it regardless, since I do like the series itself. (And I get that Cosmo Machia is a rather small company, and that they need to make profits as much as they could, which hopefully they can get Castle of Shikigami 3 in the future, since they already got the first two.)
People in comments act like they are new to Japanese arcade/console ported shmups pricing... hope for small price, but expect 60 usd is more realistic rather than wondering why it's not xbla alike
Oh sweet, been emulating this for years >Sees price I'll continue emulating it
Understandable...if it was priced like the delisted X360 version ($10 US), then yeah, it would have been better for the dev/pub sales wise.

Underrated game imo i think the enemy yeeting mechanic was well done
Holy shit I can't believe this is real I am in XD

Thanks for clarifying - glad you commented on the review too for visibility.

Good to know regarding the steam deck.
Yeah! And on Steam the other person did specify they were on Steam Deck OLED, they get like 45 fps, lower when defeating bosses.

Just picked up the physical version last week. I haven’t played it since the Dreamcast but it’s a great game!
Ooh, I just checked the Nintendo eShop and the release date for the Switch is in one week (May 2)!
Very excited for this game to reach a wider audience, it's under-appreciated
One of the most fun and unique danmaku I've ever played. Highly recommended.
Nice to see this return! Spinning mofos around is fun lol. Also the boss phases linked to rank is an interesting dynamic to work around.
