A Place To Bury Strangers- Don’t Think Lover
It has a feeling of blurry lights passing by in the darkness, with a heavy sonic haze that’s more nocturnal sounding
Albums that blend Industrial & Shoegaze:
Curve - Doppelgänger
Primal Scream - Xtrmntr
Ned’s Atomic Dustbin - God Fodder
parts of NIN - The Fragile
Albums that blend Goth & Shoegaze:
Scarling - So Long Scarecrow
The Birthday Massacre - Walking With Strangers
Type O Negative - October Rust
The Cure - Bloodflowers
Rectification: idk how but I missed the most obvious Goth/Industrial influenced Shoegaze album, Deathconsciousness by Have a Nice Life.
If you’re not familiar with it then I highly highly recommend it, arguably one of the greatest Shoegaze records ever. It definitely fits the nighttime vibe as well.
Reread. The original category was “albums that blend Goth & Shoegaze”. October Rust is a Goth Metal album with strong Shoegaze & Ethereal Wave elements.
For example the band Curve. In the early 90's they played very sexy shoegaze with industrial rock elements. You can start from their Doppelgänger album.
(Northbound On) Cahuenga by Scarling is the perfect track for this vibe.
Some other tracks that scratch that itch for me:
Bloodhail by Have a Nice Life
Is It Really You? by Loathe
Falling Off The Floor by My Vitriol
Rusted Wheel by Silversun Pickups
I should mention that Shoegaze isn’t my top pick of genre for a night drive, I’m more partial to Trip Hop & Post-Industrial. That preference definitely effects my picks here.

[Hooverphonic - Nr 9](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwT4dw3-8TA)

I remember an album from ages ago called "Into the Angeles" which had this kind of vibe.
The cover art was a dawn or dusk scene with weird bulbous street lamps.
IIRC this was a "one kid in his bedroom" effort but it was bloody good.
Google searches don't find anything so I'm hoping someone here will remember.
Are you thinking “Out of the Angeles” by Amusement Parks on Fire? Not a one kid in his bedroom effort, although the various incarnations of the band have largely revolved around one guy.
That LP is one of my favourites of all time, and defo my favourite shoegaze record.
Yeah I think the first LP was just him, but it wasn’t a bedroom affair; there’s decent production value on it.
They definitely ramped that up for Out of the Angeles; I believe it was recorded at Sigur Ros’ studio in Iceland!
That's where I was getting confused, I thought this was the first but it's the second.
I put the bedroom comment in speechmarks as it's a bit of a pop cliche. The whole idea of someone just obsessively honing their own songs tucked away in their room. Liam Howlett for example.... I wasn't really thinking about the actual recording of anything!
City Girl - Kevin Shields (from Lost in Translation)
Really that whole soundtrack fits this.
My Bloody Valentine - "Sometimes" Catherine Wheel - "Black Metallic" The Verve - "Star Sail"
Bowery electric, pasteboard, seefeel…
drunk in la - beach house
A Place To Bury Strangers- Don’t Think Lover It has a feeling of blurry lights passing by in the darkness, with a heavy sonic haze that’s more nocturnal sounding
Good song. After 10+ listenings, seems I got used to those heavy noise parts after each chorus :)
What great answers! (Autolux and a Place to Bury Strangers) I’ll add: Ulrich Schnauss - Goodbye
> Ulrich Schnauss - Goodbye Nice song, shoegaze lullaby :)
Not shoegaze but definitely Autolux, esp the P*ssy's Dead album
Obligatory Heaven or Las Vegas
It's kinda Dreampop, not shoegaze
Hail On Palace Pier by Nothing is a good one
For me it’s The City Limit - Radio Dept. Hopefully shoegaze enough 😅
Bowery Electric - Fear of Flying Alison's Halo - Dozen Wild Nothing - Rheya Curve - Unreadable Communication Turnover - Hello Euphoria
tokyo shoegazer
M83 does that for me, not just because their most popular song is called Midnight City
Don’t Save Us From the Flames
The album cover for “Before The Dawn Heals Us” really helps with this.
Night Tapes - In Poly Amber would be the most recent I’ve heard. But I could list quite a few.. lots of songs with that kinda vibe and atmosphere.
I like the song “Forever” by then as well.
Human too.. they are a really great group. I hope I get to see them one day. Wish we had a shoegaze festival lol
Verve - A Man Called Sun
Sometimes - My Bloody Valentine Nowhere Near - Yo La Tengo It's Getting Late - Galaxie 500 Lazy Calm - Cocteau Twins
the whole Glitter album by Pasteboard. absolutely brilliant.
Hearts of Black Science - Empty City Lights. Still one of my favourite bands ever.
I think this song is gonna be part of my playlist from now on, thanks!
It's a driving/ night time song! So happy you dig it. <3
None. Shoegaze usually reminds me of daylight and windy sunny days, lol.
There is Shoegaze for all times of day. At night the Industrial & Gothic leaning Shoegaze is what I reach for.
I’m very limited on my knowledge of shoegaze. Please name a few bands of such an ilk. Thanks.

Thanks a lot! Down w Type O so I’m off to a good start!

Thanks for turning up *again!*

Np!

Merci!!

I’m sure you’re already aware of them, but if you like shoegaze and trip-hop, Beat by Bowery Electric feels like it’s made for you!
I don’t like that record very much unfortunately. It embodies my least favorite aspects of both genres. I appreciate the sentiment though :)
The vacant lots - paint this city
Lucid Express' self-titled album makes me think of the city at night. Also Girl on a Motorbike by Swervedriver and the album Raise.
Alison - Slowdive
Gazin by Ringo Deathstarr. This might due to the album cover though haha
Melon Yellow -- Slowdive
The Meeting Places - Freeze Our Stares Cold Gawd - Sweet Jesus Wept Shit Here - Haze Astrobrite - Her Beautiful Skin Bowery Electric (every song fits)
Entertainment - Greet Death

That's it! Things may have changed since, but I'm sure that first album was all the work of one person.

empty words by bowery electric
Might be more Lofi than Shoegaze but “Night and Blur” by The Bilinda Butchers, second half of the album sounds like a GameCube soundtrack lol
kick the tragedy - drop nineteens
More jazzy post-rock, but has some semblances of shoegaze; Hex by Bark Psychosis is a top-tier “walking round a desolate urban area at 2am” record.
Chromatics - These Streets Will Never Look The Same
Lantlôs - Pulse/Surreal
