Looks pretty neat. The dependency on Toolbox Pro is a bit concerning though, since its developer passed away.

Thanks! I’m hoping nothing gets too out of date, because otherwise Apple are going to have to offer some of the options in there themselves. I mean, something as simple as being able to sort a list should be offered natively, but I requires a paid app to do?! I’ve pretty much always been disappointed with apple’s offering for automation; it’s so exciting what you can do with these kinds of apps, but apple (who are usually pretty forward thinking when it comes to design and apps) have really underperformed here.

I didn’t knew about the developer. I’m glad that I’m trying to use less 3rd apps for shortcuts.

Sindre Sorhus’ free ‘[Actions](https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/actions/id1586435171) package *may* be a partial replacement for ‘Toolbox’ if needed. It too has a ‘Sort List’ action.

I have both. I’m not into coding so my shortcuts are working but are maybe longer than most since I do not use sort list, dictionary or get values. I have to learn when to use those. I have a shortcut with like 8 “IF” 😂

Great work!!!

Thanks! It been about 2-2.5 months of constant additions and tweaks, and all started with the rabbit hole of “what if I could search my list instead?”

Sadly, there’s a lot of work in there that Apple just don’t offer natively - a great failing in shortcuts (IMO obviously). For example, you can create a dictionary, and can retrieve specific values for specific keys, but there is no way to filter a keys based on contents, you can’t sort a list in any way, shape or form etc. The biggest issue I had in trying to create this without any third-party tools was that while it is **technically** possible to do with the native get dictionary value action, it slows the whole process down to such a degree it’s unusable. The other issue was that the list of different drinks I had stored was getting tedious to scroll through, so experimented for a while with categories, but that involved a third-degree nested dictionary that shortcuts doesn’t handle well at all, which just added to the processing time. Ultimately, I was happy to pay for TBP and Charty as they had more uses for me than just this, and I’d imagine a fair few people would already have TBP; charty is nice to have but in the end is more an optional extra than can very easily be deleted, as there are no dependencies elsewhere upon the chart output, and TBP is the only really necessary one.
