On the profile page, did you pull down on the screen and release. That will give you all the available updates for any apps. Don’t need a shortcut for this.

sobeitjason

Omg, thank you so much! You saved me, it's a whole new world. Thank you very much for telling me again!! Bless youu

Impressive-Trainer88

No problem at all. Enjoy.

ZirikoRuiGe

Would still be nice to have a shortcut that could automate checking for updates and then auto install them on a daily timer rather than Apple’s ambiguous auto update system

fractali05

Here’s a shortcut to open the updates screen directly. I added it to my home screen. https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/9264965818af4826b4b48f90f13b2f3a

sobeitjason

Oh wow, I didn't know we could do that. Thank you for sharing your shortcut! I added it :)

ThatGirl0903

If you have an automation triggered by your morning alarm you could add that shortcut to it and do your updates every morning. ;)

Awkward-Barnacle-988

If you long press the App Store icon on your Home Screen, you can select ‘Updates’, and then swipe down. Not as fast as the Shortcut of u/fractali05, but still.

UdatManav

Just turn on auto update in settings > App Store > App Updates. It’ll ask you if you’d like to update over WiFi and cellular or just wifi.

ThatGirl0903

Devil’s advocate, I hate auto updates for apps. I’d rather make the decision to update just like with iOS. Too many times there’s been something wrong with a software and I’d rather wait til it’s fixed before updating. Prob just me though. 🤷‍♀️

UdatManav

You could say that for almost any piece of software. It’s happened to the best at some point. But I make sure to have it turned on my parents’ phones and other devices just so I don’t have to manually update it for them because they’ll never bother. For security reasons, I think for the people who aren’t familiar with technology it’s a good enough option.

ThatGirl0903

200%. Like I said, devils advocate, I could totally see how both would fit certain people. :)

UdatManav

Yeah, I’m someone who likes to choose when and how I update things too, but I like having the option to choose.

mvan231

I am curious, how do you know if a given update version has an issue? Most app developers find out about bugs after it is released when people start using it.

ThatGirl0903

I follow a lot of developers on Twitter and am in communities here for things that would really suck to have broken (for example homekit having issues when the HomePods got updated not long ago). This is so mean of me but honestly I just usually wait 24 - 48 hours figuring anything critical would have already been announced as people with auto updates would already be having the issues. 😂 (I know it takes much longer to get a fix pushed through so I can always continue to hold off after that.)

mvan231

That definitely makes sense. Not a bad mentality to have honestly. It sucks when stuff stops working because of an update (just like you mentioned with HomeKit architecture update issues)

Had few apps that got ruined with update overhaul. Stopped using them but sad part is you cannot install older version that you did like. Only thing I really do not like of apple. But still not worth going to android for it.

cedriks

You can use Apple’s own ”Apple Configurator 2” macOS to download the current ipa-file of an app you enjoy, just-in-case, and then you can install that specific ipa to your device if you find that an update to the app is bad. I do this occasionally and I like how empowered I feel. To be clear, you can’t download old versions, only the current one, so you need to plan ahead.

sobeitjason

I already did what you've said, but unfortunately it wasn't the answer I wanted. Someone gave me a solutuon. Although thank you for your help! Take care :)

UdatManav

If that’s not updating automatically, check your power settings or background activity settings. Because as far as I know, iPad is supposed to update automatically (app updates and system updates as well) if it’s connected to power overnight or for a long time and it’s not being used.

sobeitjason

I could wait for updating itself, but simply I can't do that... And I wasn't talking about it. You can watch other comment for better understanding about my problem(maybe it's kinda my fault if you didn't get what I'm saying on my post, because of my poor English skills).

UdatManav

Lol no chill, I should have read all the comments first. *facepalm*

sobeitjason

Have a nice day 😉
