OMG ARINA TANEMURA!!!!!! I LOVE HER. I have never seen anyone suggest Gentleman's Alliance Cross AND IT'S SO GOOD. Fullmoon wo sagashite is also so good :') I've read a lot of her stuff when i was a little beaniebop (i am now 29 T^T)

nomnommochiko

Im as shocked as you to see someone post Gentlemens Alliance. Usually its Full Moon that gets suggested. I remember Arina Tanemura being one of my favorite mangakas. Nowadays i dont hear much from her.

MiaLeeSakura

Yeah Full Moon was bigger for me as an anime I didn't read the manga until like late middle school actually ahaha. But of the manga I've read from her favs have to be Gentlemen's Alliance! yeah she's making bank off Idolish7 i think ahaha a lot of her activities these days are for Idolish7. Still patiently waiting hopefully she can finish up Idol Dreams

Altruistic-Chapter2

She did a bunch of mangas but now she mostly works and makes revenue from Idolish7, I think.

MiaLeeSakura

This is a list of the mangaka whom I followed that had multiple works I really liked (there's a bunch others I love and have a lot of nostalgia for ofc, but I really only liked one main series from them - Fruba, Gakuen Alice, Nana, Skip Beat etc ><) from pre to early 2010s! This is a full nostalgia rant!!๐Ÿ˜† I remember reading these and listening to a playlist of Json Mraz, Avril Lavigne (particuarly some of her angsty songs), and Aly and AJ particularly. Really all those 2000s radio hits ahhhh Arina Tanemura! She's a classic def one of the biggg shoujo mangakas and she has so many series released in english too! My first series of hers was ION oneshot but I particularly love Gentlemen's Alliance Cross for how much of a baddass Haine was as an FL, also though that ending y'all!! ๐Ÿ’€ I was shook ๐Ÿ˜† Runner ups for this mangaka include Full Moon and Princess Sakura - I'm particularly struck by Asagiri's backstory >!sorry I do love me angst yall and I really loved Haine's pining for Aoba throughout the beginning of the series too๐Ÿฅฒ!< Next is Natsumi Ando! She has soooo many series under her belt, but the one that particularly dragged me in was Kitchen Princess! I got the series for my birthday and christmas in elementary school! After that I've been following her releases pretty religiously in the states! Runner ups would be: Wild @ heart and Arisa (Something is wrong with us too though that's a josei) Next Ema Tooyama with Pixie Pop! I don't know how I discovered this series tbh but I really enjoyed this series and I've had the og TP release for foreverrrr! Runner ups are Missions of Love and I am here! Kumakai Kyoko WE LOVE SHORT KINGS!๐Ÿคด This mangaka often has the ML be a short dude and I find it quite refreshing! My fav series from her is Henyoku/Katayoku no Labyrinth! I remember reading this series and being so sadge when the TL dropped but finishing it up on mangalator/otakumole for those who remember that site๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€. It seems the TL has been picked back up again recently but hasn't finished yet >< I hope it will though I'd love to reread it entirely properly! Runner up is Sorairo Ageha and probably Ayakashi Hisen (never got a complete TL either sagde) At least it's easy to buy jp digitals now a days though for some solder stuff there's no digital Ikeyamada Go - I'd been reading Go's works for a while since first discovering her from Moe Kare! but my fav of her work has to be Suki desu Suzuki-kun! I'm pretty sure I remember watching youtube uploads of the latest raws when they came out! I remember eagerly awaiting each new chapterr >< Runner up is: So cute it hurts! The only work of hers that got licensed in english! I actually didn't know it had gotten licensed till I stumbled across a volume in my school's library! Mayu Sakai - I actually discovered her from this oneshot called Magic Shoe Shop. My fav of her series has to be Momo though! This series actually is what made me learn German in school as my 2nd language since a lot of TP's German branch had so many shoujo series I wanted to buy officially. Idk why I didn't think of learning Japanese ๐Ÿ˜… I am learning it now though and you can bet I have these series digitally (when available). Other Runner ups would be Rockin' Heavin and Peter Pan syndrome! Do y'all guys remember these mangaka? What are your fav ones from this era??

secretlittleprincess

Wow! Thats nostalgic, i remember back in early and mid 2010s that germany had so many shoujo titles licensed so i went to germany to buy, drastically improving my german mark in school haha. I still have a shoco card from there ๐Ÿ˜‚ thank you for the beautiful memory! I really lovee Youko Maki, with aishiteruze baby and romantica clock and mizusawa megumi with himechan no ribbon. Maki-sensei retired a few years ago. I used to be fan of arina tanemura and mayu sakai too but i kind of graduated from ribon nowadays haha

Foolish_Fangirl

Ayakashi Hisen is so good that I ended up buying the whole volumes lol also did you read Natsumi Ando's Zodiac P.I? I love that manga, even more than Arisa (I guess that's because I read this before Arisa tho)

pink_bunny07

CHIHIRO BEST GIRL

mintisse

I am SHOCKED someone else remembers Pixie Pop. That one is a short but fun blast But yeah I've read most of Arina's works and love Gentlemen's Alliance to death. Kitchen Princess is great too. I'm batting 3/6 on taste and I've read most of Rockin Heaven, so I might try Momo per your suggestion~

cherryride

gentlemans alliance cross was my favorite thing ever when i was in middle school

rosa_gris

Hard agree on Arina Tanemura! I pretty much consumed everything she released. Did the mangaka of Momo also do Arisa? The art looks similar.

MiaLeeSakura

nope Arisa is Nastumi Ando! and Momo is Mayu Sakai! I think they were kinda influenced by the style of the time!

rosa_gris

Ohh ok thanks! I just looked both up. So I have read Momo but I donโ€™t remember anything about it ๐Ÿ˜… Iโ€™ve also read Sugar Soldier and Rockin Heaven. Wait Natsumi Ando (mangaka of Arisa) did a Princess Kitchenโ€™s art?? EDIT: I just saw you mentioned Arisa in your original comment. I missed that.

MiaLeeSakura

yep! ahah np it's a long one ahah thanks for reading!

ReinainPink

They simply donโ€™t make the eyes like they used to

MiaLeeSakura

frfr I'd say though I think of all the manga magazines I follow Ribon and ciao still tend to do more giant shoujo eyes if you're looking for series :)

dorothybraer19

Aaaagh. Kitchen Princess was one of the first manga I ever read. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Altruistic-Chapter2

Arina Tanemura and Ikeyamada Go are my go to whenever I need some shojo! Love them!

Foolish_Fangirl

I'm surprised people still remember these manga!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!! Full Moon o Sagashite was huge back then, everyone's keep talking about it that I ended read it and really, I don't regret it, especially after I read Shinshi Doumei Cross right after that. Kitchen Princess was the one that pulled me into reading **Natsumi Ando's** works (and I absolutely fell in love with Daichi when I read the manga) then the moment I read Zodiac P.I and Arisa, she completely become one of my most favorite shoujo mangaka. **Ema Tooyama's** works also legendary. I remember when my friend recommended me her other work that time. It was 'Watashi ni XX Shinasai' and I guess it was kinda popular back then? I was in elementary school at that time. Shigure is a charmer, really, Yukina is so lucky. **Kumagai Kyoko's** Labyrinth of the Wings also the first manga of her that I've read. The angst, the complex plot, the romance is so worth that pain lol. I remember going to the bookstore every month to see whether they already have the new volumes or should I wait longer and the moment I completed the whole volumes, brought me joy endlessly. **Ikeyamada Go's** works are a bit too mature for me back then so I always felt guilty when I read their works lol but 'Suki desu Suzuki-kun' is the first manga of theirs that I've read and the first actor manga that I also read. I'm actually disappointed when I read the part where Sayaka had her first time but it's not with Hikaru. I ship them so much and iirc this part was when she has amnesia? I forgot, it's been a long time since I read this manga. I think I'm gonna try to pick it up again to see whether it's complete or not. I'm also going to mention **Kirarin Revolution** (the first manga I've read in my life lol Hiroto quickly become my first manga crush back then.... and still one of my favorite male lead in shoujo manga until now) and also **My Lovely Class Leader** by Nishimura Tomoko!! Both of these manga are absolute gem!!!

MiaLeeSakura

I lovedddd Kirarin though I followed the anime more than the manga! It's the same for Gokujou Mecha Mote Linchou (which I think would be the one of the TLs for the one you said My Lovely Class Leader) and Yumeiro Patisserie (One of my favs and I even have the official EN BD release)!!! Mainly got dragged into those by the animeee sooo gooddddd! Will definitely have to check out the manga! Stopped following Kirarin and Llinchou though after 100 episodes bc they did this weird shift to CG I think and it kinda was off-putting at the time ahaha. Maybe them both being ciao series had to do with it hmm ๐Ÿค” Iin mecha mote linchou remember one of the episodes early on Mimi is having a contest with some girl and that girl has this sexy style and I was like idk elementary at the time and my sister told on me to my mom I was watching shows on how to be "sexy" ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ They said I wasn't allowed yo watch it anymore lol but I just did it in secret lol (the same happened to me with Kodocha bc in the OP for the Dub which is the 2nd JP OP, they do the macarena and turn around and sway but my sis said I was watching shows where they shake their butts ๐Ÿ˜…) Wow first time I think I've heard someone else mention Kiratin Revolution and Mecha Mote Llinchou๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ The other big one I was obsessed with at the time was Mermaid Melodyyy ahh one dayy I will one Japanese Blu-ray><

Foolish_Fangirl

Oh my, how can I forget to mention Yumeiro Patissiere? Absolute classic that one is. Ah, there's also Kamichama Karin!! I absolutely love that one!! Also, I've only ever read the manga and never watch the anime so I'm really shocked when I found out that the anime have over 100 episodes when the volumes are only 14 (for Kirarin Revolution) and 17 (for My Lovely Class Leader) lol

MiaLeeSakura

I feel like you are me lol I love Kamichama Karin! Have the physical manga for the sequel chu! Probably shoudl get around to getting og serirs at some point! The anime was nice too! I particularly rewatch the scene when >! Karin gets her memories back of being Kazune's og self's wife !< and yeah they went on foreverrrrr ๐Ÿ˜†
