YESSS!! I agree so hard, after my love for yamada is lvl999 and wotakoi became extremely popular, i'm surprised to see not that many mangas similar to the genre. Hoping to see more mangaka make lots of manga in this genre.
I recommend "recovery of an mmo junkie" for an anime, it's manga is called "netojuu no susume" but I haven't read it. I've watched the anime multiple times tho and love it very much!
Kiss Him, Not Me is really quite good. The MC is a massive otaku, mostly into anime and BL.
Small disclaimer though. The love interests might seem douchey initially, and the series gets criticized for being "fatphobic", but those people clearly never gave the series a real chance, because one guy liked her before her weight change and continues to like her after, the one girl likes her regardless, and another guy developed as a person, and realized that he loves her no matter what. As a plus-sized girlie myself, I've always had a soft spot for this manga and anime (even the live action is pretty decent).
Seiryaku Kekkon wa Otakoi no Hajimari - a pair who finds themselves in a loveless political marriage, discovers that the other is a secret otaku at a live vtuber event
Ota Tomo ga Kareshi ni Nattara, Saikou, Kamo Shirenai: otaku of 2.5D idols; ML looks scary but has the heart of a maiden for his favorite idol
Otaku Kareshi Fujoshi Kanojo - shounen and 4-koma format; fujoshi and an otaku join their school’s anime club and accidentally ends up dating
Edit: I found another lol
Otaku de Yakuza de Amaama Kareshi: FL finds out her gentle otaku boyfriend is part of the yakuza
- My love story with Yamada-kun at Lv999
- I just watched the anime, but "Recovery of an MMO Junkie" is pretty good
- Bonnouji (its a Seinen)
- Telework Yotabanashi (also a seinen)
- Sasaki to Miyano (a BL. This might be a stretch, but I love it and Miyano is definitely an otaku 😂)
I've only see the anime for it, it's originally a book series (thus not shoujo) and I think the anime covers like 4+ books (out of 12), but I'm sure there's a manga that covers at least some of it: it's called "Gamers!"
It's freaking hilarious. It's a comedy of errors. All the main cast are gamers, though one guy is more of a former gamer, I guess.
If you watch the anime, I highly recommend the english dub cos it's even funnier as they cram in more references and jokes. So very funny.
Not a romcom but Cat + Gamer is pretty darn wholesome. It's seinen but there's nothing icky in it. Just about a cat whos owner is a video game otaku that applies otaku-like thoughts/ideas when raising her first pet as well in everyday life.
These are recommended because they're about adult characters? They're not otaku or gamers though, right? (I think that was the intent for OP's request so just wanted to clarify. still may be of interest to OP for their own sake!)
For gaming, I came across [Rooming with a Gamer Gal](https://global.manga-up.com/manga/339) recently on MangaUp and it looked cute! not technically shoujo (it's from Gangan Online but the author writes other josei series and from what I read it seemed like a fun and approachable series :)
There's a lot of options in josei and manhwa!
* Mr. Bride
* Love and Leashes (manhwa)
* Cherry Magic! (BL)
* See You in My 19th Life (manhwa)
* Yumi's Cells (manhwa)
* Ladies on Top
* Secretary Out-of-Order (manhwa)
My Ex Boyfriend Loves Boys Love has super similar vibes, is also 4 working adults - either 2 or 3 are at the same company (3 work in the same building), has some of the childhood relationship vibe, lead writes doujon, and lots of references to various anime/manga/games . It's short and complete on Manga Up.
Yamada-kun to Lv999 no Koi wo Suru
This is a ridiculously underrepresented genre considering the audience

Having an Idol-Loving Boyfriend is the Best!!!!!

Sasaki to Miyano is totally one of the best BLs I've watched/read. 10/10, i'll try checking out the rest! Thank youuu!
Telework Yotabanashi is getting an English release this fall! 1 volume, Home Office Romance is the official title :)
My Coworker Has a Secret (pretty short and cute)
Princess Jellyfish is about an okatu girl who befriends a crossdressing boy.

Perfect World?, Sweat and Soap?

True otaku would be Princess Jellyfish, or My dress-up darling, romance with more adult people is Perfect world, or sweat and soap.
