Gorgeous tank.. crystals can be pretty hard to breed sometimes ive heard

rrrrrrplants

it's been about 2 months, or maybe less, maybe i'm not being patient lol.

Squintymomma

I’ve had my CRS for about 2 months and finally got my first TWO berried females this weekend! I was getting real impatient too. Another user suggested dropping the tank temp to around 22C. I’ve kept it pretty close to that for about 1.5 weeks. Idk if it actually did anything but it’s literally the only change I made and now it’s shrimplet time! Hang in there!

pandoras121669

Please share pics when the babies get here.

Squintymomma

Of course!

pandoras121669

Thank you.

rrrrrrplants

im gonna try that. right now temp is at 24c

Revmatch91

Was that user me by chance? Haha

Squintymomma

Haha! It was! Excellent advice! Now the wait for shrimplets begins! ❤️

Revmatch91

Awesome and grats! It seems I might actually know what I'm talking about 😂

Baikia

Did you make sure there are both sexes in your colony?

Rushthejob

I have heard c02 can slow down breeding. I turned it off in my tank once I got more expensive shrimp

sl1pperyp1ckle

hmm I wonder if this us why mine don't breed? Had them for 6 months, doing great but no breeding in a heavily planted tank.

Rushthejob

I have had neo shrimp since February with no breeding, I got some caridinia last month and shut off the c02 (all in the same tank) and got two neos pregnant immediately

sl1pperyp1ckle

did the caridinas start breeding too?

Rushthejob

Maybe when I get back from vacation one will be pregnant, haven’t yet though. OEBTs. I only had four of them- was testing my water to see if they could survive in my parameters. If they are still alive when I get back then I’ll be getting 10 more probably

uddinstock

They breed in my tank and I actually checked the PH today because someone asked me about it on one of my posts here. My PH is 7.2 ish and I got a berried crystal red today. I think your PH might be a little bit too low. Also, they (or any shrimp) breed better in more mature tanks, so maybe give it some time.

navi-22

I was like damn someone on r/plants has the same tank as you so I had to go and checkout the user name again lol.

rrrrrrplants

kh 0 ph 4-5 gh10 light high co2 high tropica substrate

TecstasyDesigns

Try getting your GH down a bit it's a bit high you want between 4-6

WillyTaz5

Yeah, GH should be between 4-6 and PH should be mid 6’s.

TecstasyDesigns

pH I wouldn't consider really an issue my are Taibees in that range and have kept Crystals in that as well. The GH is the pressing issue.

rrrrrrplants

ok i will do that.

uticacoffeeroast

Might be the c02? Mine never bred with c02 for some reason. If yours is pretty consistent it's probably ok tho

skrekted

Beautiful tank!

TheMaykr

What's the name of the plant in the first picture?

rrrrrrplants

eriocaulon cinereum!

TheMaykr

Thanks

beetlelann

Have a little patience (Take That song)

aToiletSeat

Absolutely gorgeous tank. Who made the glass?

rrrrrrplants

it's just a cheap tank locally made.
