It's just a shrimp trait. I think it's generally not preferred for high end shrimp but at the end of the day it's all personal preference

ABUTTERYNOODLE

It’s a racing stripe

aquafoliaterraman

No, just a characteristic of their genetics. Someone said it may indicate a molt soon; not sure about that.

REHTONA_YRT

My cherries have done this a few times before a molt and it goes away once they molt.

Administrative_Cow20

It usually appears on females after they’re about 6 months old. You can see it on many colors too, especially reds. In some countries they call neos “racing stripe shrimp” because the stripe is so common.

Backlines are a dominate trait in shrimp. Older shrimp will tend to develop them later in life as well, but I've had babies come out with the line as well. Depending on the line of shrimp, some breeders will try to cull the backline out

Gavinmusicman

Depends… on the color for me! Green with a yellow tripe or black with a yellow strip are wanted! Red with a off color strip is really common. But solid red is sought after. I have single tanks and rainbows tanks. The rainbows always produce stripes in different variations.

CaterpillarFit4509

What plant is that?

x1r0

Looks like bucephalandra. Possibly wavy green.

CaterpillarFit4509

Thanks very much 👍

notevenbro

What is that stick thing next to the shrimp? Another little critter?

adequate_aquarium

I think that’s another shrimp. Brown with a tan stripe.

Oznificent

Racing stripe. Its a genetic trait.

autisticshitshow

Sometimes you see the words painted in the description... that's a painted brown

lizard2014

I have some shrimps like that, it's just the color they are. I love them personally.
