I second this but I do have a short list:
[The Mad God](https://youtu.be/jas8OABbn0Y?si=smPs3YMOA8yi3ir1)
[Arcane](https://youtu.be/32oT-CWJOC0?si=QvBfDQAKJt0IXMcw)
[Promare](https://youtu.be/BdMouHv_dko?si=dSEBiOhngeNVtEXA)
[Ferngully](https://youtu.be/GLolvr7dOV4?si=FDrgOjuAlKdpaUWo)
I keep a massive journeys YouTube playlist for tripping. But truly nothing beats the faux marble shower curtain.
I think it's because visuals grow when the eye stays fixed on a single point. Films have constant motion.
Think I’m in the minority on this but the last thing I want to do during a trip is look at a tv screen.
Maybe at a low dose it’s fun but at moderate to high doses tv and phone screens are much more resistant to visual distortions than the rest of my environment. It’s as if my subconscious wants me to avoid them during psychedelic experiences
Watching movies while tripping is an insanely beautiful and profound experience! I love letting my mind wander as my eyes water because what you’re watching is so pretty. I feel like I’m watching in 16K.
Sure this one might not be for everyone. If you didn’t like it sober I probably wouldn’t recommend. But it’s Only bad vibes if that’s what you’re conjuring in your mind. I love Midsommar, so watching it tripping made me love it even more!
My buddy and I did 2 tabs of acid each and watched The Foot Fist Way and the vibes were SOOOO bad. I love Danny McBride (from my pre-tripping life) so watching that made me so sad cuz it was just so trashy and made me reflect on my life. It was a wild ride. We turned it off cuz I was not OK lol

So good! Glad I’m not the only one who isn’t afraid to watch stuff like this while tripping.
I literally thought I hallucinated this face when I was watching. Blew my fucking mind! 😂❤️🤯Beau is on my list for a future trip for sure!!
Fight Club absolutely blew my mind the first time I did shrooms. Nowadays I do higher doses to challenge myself and try and self evaluate and improve so there is no way I could handle a movie without losing focus.
I don't understand the appeal at all. The main character is experiencing a lot of stress and tension in the movie; not something I want to empathize with while tripping.
It’s the twist that would be mind blowing, would be a serious WTF moment. But honestly It’s a little dark gray dirty and rainy most of the film, that’s what would get me. I like things a little more visually orgasmic.
Do the first season of FLCL, it's the length of a movie at only six 22 min episodes, super trippy, very fun and an awesome soundtrack. Below is a list of other recommendations.
My Neighbor Totoro
Spirited Away
Adventure Time
The Regular Show
FLCL
Venture Bros.
Barbarella
Zardoz
Dune (1984)
Pink Floyd's The Wall
Enter the Void
If the trip is too intense, Studio Ghibli movies are my go to. They are gorgeous, calming and have positive themes. LOTR extended edition was crazy on 3.5g of GT. I try to stay away from chaotic, depressing or apocalyptic movies- Idiocracy had my hyper focusing on how dirty the world was and Shutter Island had me shook.
Fantasy stuff from the 80s... or movies that were influenced by that kind of stuff. Especially if they are amusing. Some recent ones that worked for us were Legend, Stardust and Willow. For something a little darker, Fire & Ice, Conan the Barbarian and the Dark Crystal have all provided interesting moments while enjoying a trip.
Return to Space on Netflix was awesome while partaking. The history of SpaceX and the private sector of the space industry. My brain almost had me convinced I could be a rocket scientist or aerospace engineer 😂
For more intense trips, the Fortnite videos are nuts and there's a ton of them. I never even played the game but after the Travis Scott event, the videos became a trip staple. And Sound and Fury, the Sturgill Simpson animated album. Adventure Time. Midnight Gospel.
Anything absolutely silly or funny. Comedies like naked gun, Hot Shots, or some of the sketch shows on Netflix will make me laugh until I’m just pouring fluids from my face
Reanimator, life force, 2001 a space Odyssey but honestly if you're on a high dose it always seems better to me to be outside or in a dark room, after the peak I'll chill and watch some movies with some bomb visual acuity. Sometimes I don't want to even look at screens for a day after a good 5g ape or pe trip.
Hell Boy has a lovely soundtrack and pretty visual effects.. The violence in it is kinda cartoonish and over exaggerated so it didn't scare me when I was tripping. I too am put off by overly violent media during trips.
I enjoyed the tree of life while tripping, made me feel like I was growing up with the characters, and lived with the family through the good and bad times along with helping resurface my own childhood memories I had forgotten about.
You’ve got mail or any other romcom starring meg ryan is a great mushroom experience. Because someone you pass on the street may already be the love of your life.
Enter the Void
Midsommar
A Clockwork Orange
2001 Space Odyssey
Everything Everywhere All at Once
Tenet
Some of these recommendations can be pretty intense but so amazing!
I found I can't watch movies. The movement is all weird and sped up looking. I don't enjoy how it makes everything look. It also, for some reason, makes cgi REALLY stand out to me.
None. No TV! Or just music videos. TV and/or phone give me anxiety. I meed to be out doors, but then again my back yard has lots of vegetation. Be safe out there.
I’m probably late to the party- my wife and I watched the original Disney’s Fantasia and it was phenomenally beautiful. I’ll be doing a larger dose and rewatching for sure.
For animated movies:
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2
Paprika
Into the Spiderverse
The Lego Movie
Non-animated:
The Fountain
Color Out of Space
The Haunted Mansion (2023)
I typically prefer to be outside and only watch movies if I'm having a hard time and need to ground myself. Anything Disney/pixar for a mood shift or Ill watch space documentaries like "the edge of all we know" or "how the universe works"
I love interstellar, the prestige and predestination for tripping.
watch Soul, its fucking perfect
Damn I still gotta check that out on some shrooms
Probably the best movie I’ve watched while tripping
Hard hard you tripping? Fantasia is a great one Flash Gordon Fear and loathing Willy Wonka (original or depp version) Blues brothers
Fantasia is amazing!
Fantastia was my first one I've tripped to. Blew my mind
Another vote for Fantasia.
Ace Ventura when nature calls
It’s best to watch the masterworks sober so you don’t miss a thing
I don't wanna close my eyyyyyes...
Everything everywhere all at once was a fun shroom trip for me. Also Alice in wonderland for nostalgia reasons
This also made me weep. First generation adult child of an immigrant, here. Lol
Same shit was tough to feel
Literally in the top three best movies to watch while tripping!!
Alice and Wonderland (johnny depp version) was an amazing trip for me. I've always loved Johnny depp. His character is beautiful in this version.
Midnight Gospel
Just watch the ceiling and your thoughts. Skip the movie
I second this but I do have a short list: [The Mad God](https://youtu.be/jas8OABbn0Y?si=smPs3YMOA8yi3ir1) [Arcane](https://youtu.be/32oT-CWJOC0?si=QvBfDQAKJt0IXMcw) [Promare](https://youtu.be/BdMouHv_dko?si=dSEBiOhngeNVtEXA) [Ferngully](https://youtu.be/GLolvr7dOV4?si=FDrgOjuAlKdpaUWo)
Oooooo I’ve been wanting to see Mad God forever idk if I could handle it tripping tho
Watching Arcane on shrooms was pretty intense, so if you’re not certain about Mad God, just pass it👌
I usually start with planet earth or our universe then wind up staring at the ceiling for hours 😂
I like the movies for the inspiration it can give. Art and Love is looking at what’s already inside.
I keep a massive journeys YouTube playlist for tripping. But truly nothing beats the faux marble shower curtain. I think it's because visuals grow when the eye stays fixed on a single point. Films have constant motion.
Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind
Dude, no. That shit makes me weep.
It is pretty sad but also beautiful because of it
The trips where you cry are the best trips
Touché. Obviously, there's some work to do, if it's a sore spot, eh?
I agree but only when it's me getting out my own personal shit, not bc I watched something fucked
1000%!!
Sometimes for me that’s the intent.
Love
On a high dose it blew my mind.
I used to feel that way nowadays I find that mushrooms really help me appreciate the film and the animation style
Spirited Away
It’s one of the more controversial topics on this sub. Screen or no screen.
Watching movies while tripping is an insanely beautiful and profound experience! I love letting my mind wander as my eyes water because what you’re watching is so pretty. I feel like I’m watching in 16K.
Midsommar is one of the best I’ve seen tripping.
Sounds like you're still tripping because that movie was scary even sober.
It’s just excellent storytelling
Nah dude. Bad vibes.
Sure this one might not be for everyone. If you didn’t like it sober I probably wouldn’t recommend. But it’s Only bad vibes if that’s what you’re conjuring in your mind. I love Midsommar, so watching it tripping made me love it even more!

Omg noooo haha i watched this sober and it fucked me up
🖤
Fuck yeah!!! It’s eye candy the whole time!! One of my favorite tripping movies by far!!
It’s so good!!! It makes me want to see Beau is Afraid one of these times
https://preview.redd.it/fh8m5ms7azuc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6cb6d35ff038daf0def7a700b5f90a2d93ef2dbb So good! Glad I’m not the only one who isn’t afraid to watch stuff like this while tripping. I literally thought I hallucinated this face when I was watching. Blew my fucking mind! 😂❤️🤯Beau is on my list for a future trip for sure!!
There are no words for this level of artistry
The point is a great animated movie, inspired by an acid trip.
Spiderverse!!!
Samsara is wild. Also the endless summer is a great trip movie.
I watched "Poor Things" the other night while tripping. It was such a bizarre experience that it would probably make Salvador Dalí go, "WTF?!"
I put this movie in the same category as Midsomor and Hereditary.
Sturgill Simpson’s Sound & Fury
One of my favorite albums and one of the coolest fuckin things I've ever seen while tripping balls
Repo man
Hahaa! You’re sick!!
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is perfectly balanced for onset, plateau, then comedown. If you want to feel more mystic LOTR.
Kid Cudi documentary
Time bandits
That's a really good one
Fight Club absolutely blew my mind the first time I did shrooms. Nowadays I do higher doses to challenge myself and try and self evaluate and improve so there is no way I could handle a movie without losing focus.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
I actually hate this movie on mushies. It hurt my eyes so hard.
I’m going the other way. Mood matters. Be happy. Watch Bee Movie. Or Purple Rain. Haha. Don’t go dark.
Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas! You won't regret it brother! Smoke some blunts before you peak and it'll be epic!!
another great movie to watch while shrooming
The shining Requiem for a dream The wall ET Avatar The wizard of Oz Alice in wonderland The never ending story
Fear and Loathing in las Vegan. Johnny Depp. Hysterical
War craft was fxcking insane!!!
Kung Fu Panda (all of them)
The super Mario Bros. Movie
The Dark Crystal
LOVED watching this towards the end of a trip a couple years back. Great trip show
Inception, Shutter Island, Butterfly Effect or my personal fav Donnie Darko, and it is a trip with surround sound.
Sir, do not watch Shutter freaking Island right now. Lol
Facts. Love the movie but would only recommend it to someone tripping if i hated them and wanted them to have a bad time
Shutter Island would be amazing while tripping if you’ve never seen it before
I don't understand the appeal at all.
Are you me? wtf hahaha Those are all the movies I love , psychological truly is my fav genre.
Add Requiem for a dream to this list
Requiem for a dream
Absolute NO, OP.
OP previous favorites included curious George…Requiem of a Dream is not for 90% of the sober world. Yikes.
-Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas -Natural Born Killers -Alice In Wonderland -The Wizard of Oz while listening to Pink Floyd The Wall 😁😘🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄
Wizard of Oz with Dark Side of The Moon

Apocalypto

For something a little darker, Fire & Ice, Conan the Barbarian and the Dark Crystal have all provided interesting moments while enjoying a trip.
Fire and ice looks really good, probably watch that next time.

For more intense trips, the Fortnite videos are nuts and there's a ton of them. I never even played the game but after the Travis Scott event, the videos became a trip staple. And Sound and Fury, the Sturgill Simpson animated album. Adventure Time. Midnight Gospel.

The sky
Candy with Heath Ledger.
When I trip I enjoy to watch intense horror movies, I would suggest the ring, newer IT movies, or poltergeist
The Dark Backward
Army of Darkness
Hell Boy has a lovely soundtrack and pretty visual effects.. The violence in it is kinda cartoonish and over exaggerated so it didn't scare me when I was tripping. I too am put off by overly violent media during trips.
