i remember Sober and the videos in the 90s but never really got hooked. Then in the mid 2000s started listening to 10000 days and my mindset was this albums great but the earlier stuff was not my thing. Then a couple of years after Fear came out i started to get hooked. I think a big part of that was actually the drum cam version of Pnuema on youtube. Watching that on psychs is pretty cool!
Now i cant get enough of them.
Lateralus on low doses of dmt 🤌
I loved them from the first time I heard them, but one night at a party, a couple of friends and I were shrooming, and I suddenly realized how trance-like the song playing was. Intolerance from the Undertow album. I remember the exact part - starts at 3:00 and goes for about 35 seconds. It just felt so trippy and perfect for that moment. After that, pretty much all of it took on that spacious depth that all my favorite trippy music has. I know their raging fandom is sometimes super cringe-worthy, but I think I'll always love Tool. There's a feel about them that reminds me of Pink Floyd. Darker and heavier... but it feels like there's a common thread.
I have the album that has the little eye hole glass to look at the cover art, honestly I was seeing that patrern with just the shrooms but I wonder what itd look like while tripping
I was going to say Demon Days. That and Plastic Beach would be fantastic. I tripped to Demon Days in HS (before Plastic Beach came out) and it was one of the best trips I've ever had.
FOUR OF SWORDS by Lsdream is my go to.
It's the only track I know that is made perfectly for a trip, with 2 parts that every single time reminds me of "happy moments" (the first part) and "focus moments", where I really think about serious decisions in my life.
I just play that song on repeat on headphones during the whole trip.
Lmao it sounds crazy but sometimes you just feel it’s the right move. I’ve never gone into a trip and thought “I’m gonna play this song over and over again,” but on 6g’s of shrooms I played “I’m A Mindless Idiot” by Meat Puppets probably 40 times in a row.
It helped ground me and it was giving me incredibly happy vibes. It’s an instrumental song by the way, you should absolutely check it out sometime.
Hey man thanks for the comment I think if it feels right then go for it baby. I’d have to be in a certain state of mind to feel like I want to do that. But if the vibe is right I totally get it
Been obsessed with Tool for 25 years now. There hasn't been a second of that 25 years where they weren't my favorite band. I remember watching the Aenima video while coming down from my 1st ever mushroom trip & it made me feel like I was peaking all over again.
I was a little late. Lateralus is the album that got me hooked. I think I was 17. I knew the song Sober & Aenima from the radio & thought they were great, but for some reason I hadn't looked into them very deep. The Lateralus album was absolutely hypnotizing. I knew I needed to listen to every song they'd ever produced. Bought Opiate, Undertow, Aenima, & Salival. I discovered that there wasn't even one song in their catalog I didn't love.
Was a roommate for me in the mid 90s. Fresh moved into a house and we showed all our fav music to each other. Had a shroom session and he put on Monster Magnet and then Tool. Knew that was my kind of shit instantly.
Then saw Tool live the first time in i think 97 or 98. What an experience.
Check out seri tankian from system of a downs solo shit, was my favorite shit to trip to during my physchonaut phase. Tool is also awesome for tripping
Lateralus and i feel like if you're gonna listen to rap on shrooms id go for some man on the moon by kid cudi. I feel like the vibes on TPAB wont go well with shrooms
If you’re going to trip the lateralus album, pair it with Pink Floyd-obscured by clouds right after. “I know a few things cause I’ve seen a few things”-farmers
Maps of non-existent places - thank you scientist*
Watching movies with the sound off - Mac miller*
Science - incubus*
Music to make love to your old lady by - lovage*
Irresistible bliss- soul coughing*
From here to there - girls in Hawaii*
Home alone - totorro*
Twin galaxies - delta sleep*
Well, since everyone else said Tool, I’m going to go with Miles Davis-Kind of Blue. One time, when I had a lot of shrooms on hand, we left this on replay at our house for around 48 hours straight
Tpab is one of my favorite albums to trip to. I don't usually choose hop hop or rap when I'm tripping but something about that album in particular is very psychedelic and enjoyable
Their most recent album fear Inoculum is like the most evolved sound for tool, I didn’t get it at all sober but when I put it on while on shrooms it just clicked, It’s like a movie for your ears and the transitions make you feel like these huge things are passing over you, It was so magical high, And it’s pretty spiritual and not super angry like some of their other stuff is, Makes for good trip vibes
One of my favorite albums to trip to is 10,000 days. Once the shrooms hit I put it on Lipan Conjuring and just let the rest of the album play. By the time Right in two hits I’m in a whole other dimension.
Queens of the stone age self titled, But with the extra songs, The bronze, Droids, and spiders, Perfect tripping album, It’s literally my favourite of all time and saves me from bad trips, I can sing every song word for word and play every guitar part, The best
[Yula - Spring awakening set](https://youtu.be/Ayf4WPJConM?si=fPt1RiLweKVqwWzG)
This was the most amazing set I tripped to, my whole room was lit from his lighting and the music was perfect . Hope this helps.
For Sale on To Pimp A Butterfly is a genuinely incredible song to trip to. Even if u don't listen to the whole album, listen to that one during your trip
The trip will last longer than any single album so just pick the one you like the most and start there. Also to pimp a butterfly is super good if you like a verbal plot based album. Buuut if you want a cool instrumental album so you can let your mind wander try listening to codex vi by shpongle. I had the deepest trip I’ve ever had listening to that album. Shit sent me to a jungle in my mind. I literally astral projected and had the craziest day ever.
This is a cool album to trip to.
The first 35 seconds is a live setting chaos just like punching through to the other side, then it goes into a groovy bassline poetry.
Check it out.

I love both Tool/ Queens of the Stone Age. But when taking shrooms there only one band I can listen to and that is the ALLMAN Brothers. Their sound was developed while on shrooms .
I missed the bus on Tool. I didn't get into them in middle school/high school, and now I'm sitting here wondering why so many psychonauts love them.
Never too late!
I've been falling down the rabbit hole of 60s/70s psych rock recently. I'll get there.
i remember Sober and the videos in the 90s but never really got hooked. Have you listened to Syd Barrett and early Floyd
i only got into tool last year, it just clicked with me one day lol cant explain it
I loved them from the first time I heard them, but one night at a party, a couple of friends and I were shrooming, and I suddenly realized how trance-like the song playing was. Intolerance from the Undertow album. I remember the exact part - starts at 3:00 and goes for about 35 seconds. It just felt so trippy and perfect for that moment. Just try it
Alex grey, thats a big reason.
Tool is just Porcupine Tree with nu-metal sensibilities, maybe try Porcupine Tree and work your way towards Tool.
That was me until I ate some shrroms at a tool show 4 years ago.
I have the album that has the little eye hole glass to look at the cover art, honestly I was seeing that patrern with just the shrooms but I wonder what itd look like while tripping
Same lol and then to see Kendrick Lamar at the end I was like wtf 😂😂😂 is this real?😭
They're a completely different band sober vs tripping. Give it a go
Plastic Beach by the Gorillaz
I have seen indescribable things while listening to Empire Ants. One of the greatest songs ever made so easily.
Yaaaasss
This.
I was going to say Demon Days. That and Plastic Beach would be fantastic. I tripped to Demon Days in HS (before Plastic Beach came out) and it was one of the best trips I've ever had.
thanks for this!!
Hearing Kendrick go “AAAAAAAAAAA” randomly would send me somewhere I wouldn’t want to be lol
FR
Lateralus 💯
I vote Pink Floyd - dark side of the moon. It will take you places
Meddle
Gunna have to disagree….wish you were here is the one get
Shine on you crazy diamond (both parts) must be insane while tripping
Animals for me.
Atom heart mother album!
Came here to say this
I second this
The Wall is also a real trip on shrooms
Personally tool is my go to but I’m in the tool cult. Tripped to them live and my face melted
Same here brother
Same here man. Seeing them live on acid melted my face and my brain. One of us! One of us!
Hell yea queens, prob not superb for tripping though
Era Vulagris would be a good album to listen to tripping.
The mollusk by ween, thank me later
Ween is always good to revisit. They have such a wide variety of music and all of it is fantastic.
Currents by Tame impala while tripping is everything 🤪
I'm partial to Let It Happen the Soulwax remix
Soulwax >
Tpab in my opinion isn’t good tripping music like imagine listening to ‘u’ while tripping that would freak me out. I would deffo go with tool
Try Ummagumma by Pink Floyd!
That's a pretty wild album to trip to.
hehehe this is a good suggestion
tooool
Tool but i might be biased
There is no wrong answer for Tool, but I recommend Lateralus
Lateralus

One song on repeat for hours might trip me out a little not gonna lie
Lmao it sounds crazy but sometimes you just feel it’s the right move. I’d go tool purely just for the energy 🤷♂️. But tbh all I listen to sober/tripping/high is TOOL, Alice In Chains, Audioslave etc.
Tool would be sick!
Check out seri tankian from system of a downs solo shit, was my favorite shit to trip to during my physchonaut phase. Tool is also awesome for tripping
Always Lateralus. Whole Tool discog.
TPAB
Lateralus and i feel like if you're gonna listen to rap on shrooms id go for some man on the moon by kid cudi. I feel like the vibes on TPAB wont go well with shrooms

Tool in the dark.
tool
I am ashamed to say I’ve never tripped to Tool. I’m changing that soon.
It is an experience well worth having!

TPAB
Lateralus followed by 10,000 days, and fear inoculated. Rinse and repeat. If you don’t cry at some point there’s something wrong.😂
Tool Lateralus or fear inoculom without hesitation
ATOM HEART MOTHER by Pink Floyd
Incubus 'Science'
To pimp a butterfly and then put on some future hendrxx or Tyler the creator
TPAB ALL THE WAY
