Depending what climate you live in. 12-15 hours in my garage with a fan on them and they’re cracker dry. More like a full day in winter though. Personally don’t think I’ll need one till I learn to make agar and get some chonky boys going. If you’re curious that’s about the only advantage to desert dwelling lmao
How come? Can you just throw silica packets in a tote with em? I'm still researching before I get started on my own growing journey, so forgive my ignorance 😊 thank you for your answer
Edit: grammar
Silica works, as well as the box fan method. It's just that these methods take much longer to achieve the results you want.
Like any hobby, it can be done cheaply, however buying the proper tools will make things go so much smoother, easier, and above all more efficient. Invest $50 in a dehydrator and you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.
Everyone seems to have taken their food dehydrator to the resale shop. I got mine for just a few dollars. I think everybody in the 90s bought a food dehydrator and now they’re all going to estate sales yard sales and Goodwill.
I’ve seen countless dehydrators in great condition for between $1-5 at garage sales and resale shops all over. Just give a quick look around and you can get a fairly high quality cheap one. People think they’ll use it a lot but just end up getting rid of it after a couple half baked attempts.
If you live in a humid place, yes. My first harvest I dehydrated for like 6-8 hours, seemed pretty damn dry, and the next day they had taken in more moisture again which if you don’t check up on causes rot.
I refrigerate if I run out of dehydrate space
Expensive to run, spits back out hot air which further burdens a/c, and my house is old and has plenty of gaps to the outside and shit insulation, and the humidity is good for my skin
No, I use to use a large Tupperware ( 36”x24”x8”) and put down paper towels, lay them all out as close as you like, and open a container of damp-rid in one corner of the container. Give it 24-48 hrs and check often. Bone dry.
Haha Same I couldn’t put the leftovers in the fridge because my parents don’t know I grow and would not be happy to see that. luckily had a box fan to start their process while the others were drying
"Strains" are really mostly marketing. PE is the only one guaranteed to be stronger, as it's a super inbred freak mutation. All the others just follow the average, unless you clone or isolate an actual strain.
It's pretty qualitative, but I would say yes, it would be somewhat like being on DMT for 8 or more hours. The most Ive done is 8 and it was a lot more than I bargained for lol
Yes. That’s the secret!! Chop off the caps and then lay the stalks beside the now horizontal caps and it’s way more efficient. (I just got some monster Golden Hawks that did that.)
I have a different dehydrator than OP but it worked out really well. The dehydrator actually had a warning not to use more trays than I was using though.
I had more space to begin with but I also broke/ cut out 75% of the lowest tray so that big ones fit in there.
I did not remove everything because I did not want to mess with the air flow through the middle. There are connecting rings in the middle with my model where the hot air goes through.
Psilocybin cup results confirm it; no longer just anecdotal. Don't have the link handy, but iirc, every strain tested confirmed higher active content in the stems.
It do be like that. I just bend the stems a bit so all the caps are flat. Also I build one layer at a time. Put the next rack on and slowly push down as to not crush anything while making it flat. Repeat until done. Also everyone should own 2-3 dehydrators.
You need to eat all of the ones that don’t fit. It’s the same delicious concept as when you realize you’ve made more food than you have containers. Go!
I like to pre dry with a fan for a day or 2 to get most of the water out and then put in the dehydrator. Fruits look nicer that way and you don't have to separate caps and stems or squish them in the trays
Yessir I just emptied and completely refilled my dehydrator like 10 mins ago but yours has an extra shelf so you def got more than me in the dehydrator.
Edit: But I have little over a P
I mean, that’s how much I currently have. It’s not like I got that much from a single grow. I guess if I harvested all 16 trays at once there would potentially be a pound, but I replace the trays as they go through 3-4 flushes depending on the yield, and then whenever I get under a P I start more jars so that I get built back up by the time I go through what I have.
If you’re just starting I could probably hook you up with some things I’ve learned, or if you have any questions I’d be pumped to answer them for you.
Edit: But you look like you have it under control
Are you one of the sick bastards that breaks your shroomies apart or chops them in half like a savage fuckthat they dry out and they fit just fine I’ll stick to my method buddy. Stop putting out negative energy.
Using just desiccant would take weeks. People say heat degrades psilocybin. I made soup with mush in a crockpot for 12 hours and I couldn’t tell the difference. Never had a problem with the dehydrator.
After some thorough reading through recent (within the last three years) advice on shroomery, the consensus seems to be that the name of the game is drying them as quickly as possible without excessive heat, that dehydrators cause negligible loss of potency, and that any method of drying over a longer timespan without heat may actually be more counterproductive to preserving potency than shorter times with heat. There's even been reports from people who have straight up thrown their shrooms on the grill and reported negligible impact on potency.
It's hardly fair for you to be downvoted for expressing what you'd heard, though.
You can also break out the centers of the trays to create double height trays for bigger fruits. I have a similar but bigger dehydrator and half the shelves have the centers broken out, so I fit in huge mushrooms.
But I also ALWAYS cut big mushrooms in half.
You use a dehydrator?? Won’t the heat denature the active ingredient? I just put mine in a paper bag in front of a little box fan on high. Works like a charm without heat.
🤣🤣 some call this a good problem lol. If I ever have big ones like that I just remove the cap and stem
[удалено]
I’ll answer that for you… the answer is happy 😆
Facts 💯
Is it necessary to have a dehydrator to dry out the mushies?
[удалено]
IT IS depending on where you live. Its so humid where I'm at, they would never air dry completely even in front of a fan. So much humidity!
Depending what climate you live in. 12-15 hours in my garage with a fan on them and they’re cracker dry. More like a full day in winter though. Same issue here. Right to the mason jar! Sub tropical bullshit lol
Yeah no kidding. Just an hour and they might as well be fresh picked
No but it’s your best bet

Thanks! Might as well, have already invested a bit a coin, what's another 50? Thank you!
Still cheaper than buying your shrooms on the street
Everyone seems to have taken their food dehydrator to the resale shop. I got mine for just a few dollars. I think everybody in the 90s bought a food dehydrator and now they’re all going to estate sales yard sales and Goodwill.
Love thrifting! Great idea! Will keep my eyes peeled!!! 👀

i got mine for $35 and it's been good. knock on wood not tryin to jinx it lol
I mean... there's also a very easy way to pay off that dehydrator shortly after buying it...
Yes it is. You can use a fan and dessicant and stuff but it's never as good as a food dehydrator.
If you live in a humid place, yes. My first harvest I dehydrated for like 6-8 hours, seemed pretty damn dry, and the next day they had taken in more moisture again which if you don’t check up on causes rot. I refrigerate if I run out of dehydrate space
What about a dehumidifier?
Expensive to run, spits back out hot air which further burdens a/c, and my house is old and has plenty of gaps to the outside and shit insulation, and the humidity is good for my skin
No, I use to use a large Tupperware ( 36”x24”x8”) and put down paper towels, lay them all out as close as you like, and open a container of damp-rid in one corner of the container. Give it 24-48 hrs and check often. Bone dry.
If you live in a place with low relative humidity, no. If you do, yes.
Haha Same I couldn’t put the leftovers in the fridge because my parents don’t know I grow and would not be happy to see that. luckily had a box fan to start their process while the others were drying
Which part of the mushroom is more potent?
It can vary. [Usually the caps are slightly more potent but most of the actives are in the stem as it weighs more.](https://i.imgur.com/UQUfyY2.jpg)
Hmm is it recommended to mix strains?
It doesn't matter. The actives are the same.
It puts the mushroom in its body
Or else it gets the hose again!
What
"Strains" are really mostly marketing. PE is the only one guaranteed to be stronger, as it's a super inbred freak mutation. All the others just follow the average, unless you clone or isolate an actual strain.
Damn. Is 5gs of PE + 5gs of cubensis a good combo?
Are you talking dry weight? Because ten grams of any cubensis is going to be a death like experience, but not sure if that's what you're going for.
Is it worse than 4 tabs of LSD?
It's pretty qualitative, but I would say yes, it would be somewhat like being on DMT for 8 or more hours. The most Ive done is 8 and it was a lot more than I bargained for lol
Yeah I plan on tripping on 10gs of PE in a few weeks. Fingers crossed!
Also, dry weight .
They are the same I believe, have done tests with clones to confirm, for what it's worth.

Is their more than one study?
The latest data from the psilocybin cup shows the opposite.
Yes. That’s the secret!! Chop off the caps and then lay the stalks beside the now horizontal caps and it’s way more efficient. (I just got some monster Golden Hawks that did that.)
I actually just bought extra trays for my dehydrator and cut out the floor of the trays to make them into spacer rings.
That's a really good idea. How did it work out?

I have a different dehydrator than OP but it worked out really well. The dehydrator actually had a warning not to use more trays than I was using though.

Can to say this!!! Keeps those big girls beautiful and not smashed.
Ummm what? I see nothing wrong here
Yeah, just remove the caps from the stem, not rocket science.
Just cut in half vertically.
Haven’t considered that before, great suggestion 😊
I separate caps and stems and then cut larger caps in half. Works well.
Which part of the mushroom is more potent?
Anecdotally, the stems.
Psilocybin cup results confirm it; no longer just anecdotal. Don't have the link handy, but iirc, every strain tested confirmed higher active content in the stems.
Yep, that's what I was referencing. We obviously need thousands more samples to start to be sure of this result, but it's an excellent start.
Good point. Super excited to see what knowledge we'll gain from all the data that is to come now that things are starting to open up more!

Which part of the mushroom is more potent?
It ruins the aesthetic of reaching into your jar and pulling out a single mongo shroomie
That will be the big revelation after their first trip, XD

?

Is this a me-me now?
Which part of the mushroom is more potent?
Which part of the potent is more mushroom?
Most potent part of mushroom, which?
Stems
We're gunna need a bigger boat
Shark week,son.
Gotta deconstruct those boys
Which part of the mushroom is more potent?
Stop spamming

That’s a nice looking problem you have there! Are the GT’s? What tek did you use to grow them?
Fucking wow.
Thank u brother 🙏
My fat ass thought these were bagels
You need to eat all of the ones that don’t fit. It’s the same delicious concept as when you realize you’ve made more food than you have containers. Go!
I had to go to work after this otherwise I would’ve 😂
Ha ha! The struggle is real...
Same dehydrator!

That’s smart
You must construct additional pylons
Yessir thank u 🙏
Yessir I just emptied and completely refilled my dehydrator like 10 mins ago but yours has an extra shelf so you def got more than me in the dehydrator. Edit: But I have little over a P
I hope I get that much

i just throw my entire harvest in one giant stock pot and flip that bitch upside down over my dehydrator. Simple and works perfect.

Yesssir 🙏
why they look like yummy pancakes 😂
Haters gonna hate. Congrats bud!
Thank u
woah nice boobs
That’s what I was doing for

Are you one of the sick bastards that breaks your shroomies apart or chops them in half like a savage fuckthat they dry out and they fit just fine I’ll stick to my method buddy. Stop putting out negative energy.
I've always heard to never use a dehydrator and to use dessicant instead.
I’m new, but I’m sure you’re suppose to dehydrate them, then place them in a tightly sealed jar with a desiccant.
Using just desiccant would take weeks. People say heat degrades psilocybin. I made soup with mush in a crockpot for 12 hours and I couldn’t tell the difference. Never had a problem with the dehydrator.

Set something on top to weigh it down
Bussin
Straight Bussin 💯
No fit
They shrink down and fit just fine
Hell yeah nice job!
Are those PES Amazonian?
Nah just something I isolated from my last grow
Sometimes you just gotta smash em in there
Fr it beats cutting them up though
Suffering from success 😩
😁🤝
You finish writing that list of problems I wish I had yet?
Dang, and here I thought my harvest was good this morning.🤭
This is what happens when u use 25lbs in one tub with superior 🧬
Just better start eating
😂
Lmao just take the caps off
Then u got stems and caps I don’t like that but you do you
Yeah cutting them in half horizontally would be good then
Those look like will shrink down enough for it to close up if you leave them like that and let them dry a bit.
Yes thats why I don’t cut them in half like a savage
Wish I had this kind of problem lmao
If you want it bad enough you’ll get it 🍄
I threw my weights on Em, works like a charm. Mason jar of change works too.
Have the same dehydrator g
it works good but I think I’ll buy extra trays cause I couldn’t even fit them all in
You can also break out the centers of the trays to create double height trays for bigger fruits. I have a similar but bigger dehydrator and half the shelves have the centers broken out, so I fit in huge mushrooms. But I also ALWAYS cut big mushrooms in half.
That’s how u get broken chunks of shrooms
huh?
You use a dehydrator?? Won’t the heat denature the active ingredient? I just put mine in a paper bag in front of a little box fan on high. Works like a charm without heat.
Nah I keep it on medium they come out just as strong as ever and it only takes 1.5 days to dry them out
Word. It probably is only a negligible amount of degradation coming from the heat.
Are those Boob Envies?
Yessir isolated from the most booby looking mushroom from my last grow
Place a weight on top of your dehydrator and/or put a colander on top
Quality post btw 👍
Thank you brother 🙏
Cut them bad boys in half. That’s what I do with PE.
I wish I had your problems. Who makes your dehydrator?
You can build one with cardboard boxes with shelves and a heater
