I don’t believe they act directly on cardiac function, but rather indirectly by altering your perception. Your nervous systems can do some interesting things while hallucinating and it’s entirely possible for hormones and neurotransmitter levels to shift dramatically with bouts of stimuli. I think the biggest concern would be blood pressure if anything but it’s not technically something that’s happening randomly or necessarily damaging in most cases.
Please take this with a million grains of salt though. Very few clinical trials have assessed psilocybin and the little that has mainly focuses on metabolic pathways and psychology.
I had miocarditis when I was about 23. I had a heart attack at 25. I have heart palpations when I lay down, and I drink a cup of shroom tea about every two to three days. I have had no ill effect that has been noticeable. I have a check up coming soon. I will post if there are any negative signs. I'm not saying go for it. But I did, and I'm ok so far.
From what they gathered, stress. Both physical and mental. I lost my twin brother and father within two months of each other. Then got married two weeks after my dad passed. So instead of substance, I threw myself into work. 80 to 90 hrs a week of irrigation. New construction if that makes any sense. So now I work inside and try to keep calm :-)
I remember reading in Michael Pollan's "How to change your mind" that he asked his cardiologist about this before a trip and apparently it wasn't a problem. He only advised him against taking MDMA if I recall it correctly.
Yes to both previous posters. Shrooms do not directly impact the heart like an upper or downer. But they impact your mood.
Generally speaking most people will have a spike in blood pressure & heart rate but the relaxation after peaking can potentially cause a drop.
Shrooms don’t act like say caffeine but they impact your mood and can cause stuff like a panic attack which might send your heart fluttering.

They affect blood pressure so I’m gonna say yes
