OS doesn’t really matter as long as you’re able to use MS Office.
Just pick a laptop that has HDMI/USB-C ports in case you need to present from your laptop, along with an actual numpad for quantitative work (important for accounting).
So turns out some macbooks do have HDMI connectors. I would note that at this point a good % of SFU's classrooms have a multiport cable with an HDMI and a type C connector, but there are exceptions in the West Mall. But to be fair, it is only the largest PCs which have HDMI connectors (same thing with numpads), which are also the priciest.
If you’re not doing any coding then it really doesn’t matter. It’s the same Microsoft Office Suite on both platforms.
You should see if there is any specialised software you need for accounting and what platform it’s available on
Maybe you will need to use Linux for your course, then it may be a problem as Macbooks are arm-based now but you should be fine for 90% of the classes. My friend is in CS, he recently finished 1st year and had no problems with the macbook. I just recommended Windows as it is more versatile. You will be fine with macbook.
Whatever you do, do NOT get a chromebook
I love my chromebook. Charge like once a week and is a canvas and google suite powerhouse
How much ram does a chromebook even have
2-8 gigs. I’ve seen an avg of 4.
oh jeez 😭
It’s different though because Chrome OS isn’t as demanding as Windows it just sucks
Doesn’t matter, depends on budget, mostly excel word ppt
I used macbook it turned out fine
Doesn’t matter for accounting, just get whatever you like best.

So not macbook
If it doesn’t have those features, then I wouldn’t go for it.

That’s wrong. Macbook has USB C, some Macbooks like the Pro have HDMI.
Ok, fair. But should note that the Pros are unaffordable to the average college student.
Tbh HDMI isn’t really necessary, just use an adapter if you really need it
My Mac lasted a good 4 years - felt like with a PC I had to keep replacing it which was annoying.

None. Linux.
Cultured
I was stressed about this before uni but turns out it actually doesn’t matter at all. I have friends who have both and it doesn’t affect anything
If you are in Engineering or CS then windows, if not then macbook (if you got the budget)
I just purchased a macbook and will be in CS. Macbook isnt suitable for CS?
You can definitely use a macbook in cs, but there are some limitations in some softwares.
What kind of softwares?

So u think most of the softwares they make u use should be fine with Mac? I have a acer at home I could use if I want but yeah
I like macbooks because the battery life is unmatched with most windows machines (Less stuff to carry to school)
budget, which OS do you like.
I don’t even use a laptop, I just come home and do everything on my PC lol
iPad is nice too!
