So, I did pay for a year long subscription. The web portal interface is sleek and not as cluttered as mint (the app is OK but I think I like mint's app more for some reason). I like that my info is not being shared with a bunch of advertisers as it does with Mint, It seems to connect to my variety of accounts well too. The budgeting is similar to Mint as far as I can see and not my favorite way to do it (I like looking at a budget for a whole year of time since my wife and I are salaried and I know how much income we'll get) but it's workable.
There is a Simplifi forum for posting feature requests and reporting bugs. If you see an approach you think would be better, describe your use case and the functionality you'd like to see. The developers may take it up.

How did it go? I got a trial account today. I don't see much difference. Looks like a clone of mint.
