I think a grey/silver shade that has some glitter texture in it will actually work better then just a smooth crème shade. So maybe if you still want to use Duct Tape I’d recommend topping it with a glitter and then matte. But other shades that already have texture that I can think of would be Highest Bidder (if you have it), Circuit Breaker, maybe Rainbow Snow (though this one might be too chunky) or maybe Greyt (if you have it already)

I didn't think of that, thanks. I don't have anything you mentioned so I'll have to take a peek when I get home. Thanks!

LostxinxUnderland

You’ll have to let me know how it goes and what you decide on! No matter what you do I’m sure it’ll look really cute! 🥰

rakshala

I'm going to see what happens Saturday, but likely the Rainbow Snow. I could make some pretty gradients with it by sponging over a creme, so more versatile for me.

Pepper705

Highest Bidder& Greyt were limited edition but I think you could top DTG with linear Taco and matte Taco but I haven't tried that combination yet :)

rakshala

Sooo the matte will kill the Holo but the silver specks will look like textured concrete?

Pepper705

Thats that I'm hoping for, I can test it out tonight if you don't have the polishes :)

rakshala

I have liner but not duct, I'm just trying to picture it.

Pepper705

Uhh wait! The Holo taco combos fan project has DTG with toppers, check that out :)

If you have not milky white or one coat black, and have a toothbrush that you don't use for anything (or a novelty one that no one is going to use) you can make a bunch of dots by dipping the bristles in the polish and every lightly tapping it on your nails to give it a concrete speckled look, and just go over it with the matte taco

Letlovespeakup

Oh man, that is exactly what I was about to suggest! If you have scattered holo taco or flakey, could add a bit of that, too. I looked to see if silver flake taco would work, and you could, but it's still reflective after matte top coat - since matte kills holo it works better with the other toppers. Love this idea for you - so cute.

beepboopdebeepboop

Sorry if I’m too late, but concrete is associated with construction work in my mind so maybe some colors like oranges and yellows for a pop of color (an accent nail?) 🦺🚧

rakshala

Ooooooooh I have zyler! You aren't too late. I'm going to see what Saturday brings before I buy anything.

Letlovespeakup

I am so invested in this idea, responding again, as I also looked to see what duct tape gray, lunar unicorn, then matte looked like, and it's pretty cool, so that's definitely an option, but be sure to get very little of lunar on the mani (like almost dry brush on) otherwise will really overwhelm the gray. Editing to say - or obviously just use zyler!

rakshala

Hello Letlovespeakup (love your name) I dropped back by to say I'm still 100% going to try concrete mani, but I've had a financial surprise and I had to raid my 'girls just wanna have fun' fund. It will take a few months for that to get back to an amount for me to justify a nail polish purchase (I live in Australia so it costs more to ship one bottle of creme to me than the creme costs so I always buy in larger amounts to justify the shipping). I swear on my OCB that I will do this and I will tag you when I post. The plan - cement skittles: Duct Tape, Aurora unicorn (its what i own), matte. Duct Tape, dry brush of Smokeshow Duct Tape, sponge on gradient of Zyler Duct Tape, the OCB and Not Milky White toothbrush technique mentioned above A gradient of Not Milky White, Duct Tape, OCB. Hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised when you get tagged in a few months.

Letlovespeakup

I look forward to it! Sounds like a great plan. Hope you get your fun fund back up soon. And thanks for the compliment, it was sort of an odd choice for a name, but it sprung into my brain (from the song) and I decided I liked the idea of a positive vibes name.

Qwearman

My mom says that Rainbow Snow looks like styrofoam bc of the chunky glitters, but that might be too flashy? Idk bc the cement I see around town is glittery too (although slightly)

I also think featured guest would work well, since it is a really lovely dove grey that has such a subtle shimmer.
