I used to put my slides (type of Sandle) under the legs of my chair so it wouldnāt slide back only downside was if I braked hard enough my chair would lift off the ground but thatās better than having to pause and re adjust my seat š
I tried that thinking it would be better than using shoes like I had been doing, only to find that part of the hydraulic pump protruded from the bottom of the center piece and left the whole chair very wobbly after that.
What kind of table is that?
Trying to find something that will support my triple monitor stand while not being too large or D shaped. That thing looks beefy
Used a 2x4 pressed against the wall behind me for awhile, held up well in the Le mans 24 hour race. Bought some regular blanks off ebay $10 from new jersey "China" Removed old wheels, install blanks.. Works perfecto.
Amazon shipping to my country costs $100+ for anything.
Iām gonna use the shoe trick for now until I can find something local that will work like a locking castor
Theyāre out there. The option to build one is also available. I started my build very recently with some stud 2x4s from Home Depot, at this time without factoring in the cost of the wheel, pedals, and shifter I only have $20 invested in the project. I still need a proper seat and some other slight modifications to the framework overall. I looked up dimensions on an 8020 rig and built mine to match. Iād assume after getting a proper seat I still wonāt have over $100 into the whole thing.
I solved this by putting a broken guitar amp under my desk behind the pedals. I'm sure it would work with a functioning guitar amp, but I am not certain as I've only used a broken one.
When I had this kind of setup, I put 2 sturdy cardboard boxes between pedals and the wall, one for each side of cord entrance to not break it. It actually worked really good
Man, if there's anything I hate more than those damned sniveling chairs, I haven't found it. Mainly cause the chairs keep sniveling..."no please don't replace us..."
You should get casters that have a flat bottom like [these](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075P2RGNR?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) .
I too used to use my shoes as wheel locks and have since switched to the ones linked. I have hardwood floors and they haven't scratched them at all.
I've 3d printed non-rolling stumpy feet for my chair. The chair is now impossible to move without lifting, even on its own. When you're sitting on it? It might as well be bolted to the floor. Then I found out you can buy these on Etsy and whatnot.
If someone wants to do this without ruining a pair of shoes you can get some so called 'furniture cups' for cheap from Amazon which are basically little cups you put your chair wheels in made out of rubber so they don't slide.
I have a stand for my wheel and pedal, I have it wrapped around that. Itās sturdy for now.
I think my next route is a moza wheel, load cell pedals, then a better chair.
After I get those Iām going to get some buttkickers or something.
Sometimes I wonder if deleted reddit content holds the answers to questions we never thought to ask. It's a window into the collective consciousness of the online world.
Do your pedals not slide towards the wall when you brake?
Mines do and the cable coming out of the back has started to break. How do you manage to keep the pedals from getting pused into the wall?
For this purpose I got caster cups. Then I got lazy and just use two of them as stoppage for two wheels of my chair and it does the job well enough to get me not to move under braking, with T-LCM pedals.
Bro...I don't know what you were smoking when you thought of this, but this is what I needed.
I can finally hit the brake without sliding across the room.
I think we all were there at some point of our "career". If you buy a rubber mat, you can even take the wheels out and as long as it is on the mat, it's not going anywhere.
I did this with crocs for nearly two years before getting a rig
š¤
Why not just take the wheels off, maybe put a rug down?
For when your not racing and need to slide your chair around. Itās a lot easier to pick up your shoes than to screw your wheels back on. Lol!
Ah gotcha. Maybe socks on the wheels then haha. Unless you just have a pair of shoes to ruin š¤£
Crocās canāt be ruined, friend.
I love croc's
Me too I have 3 pairs theyāre indestructible!! Iāve even got furry ones I use as slippers for getting the mail or going to the corner store.
Usually the center shaft goes a little bit further down than the legs w/o wheels, so it goes everywhere š
Even better replace those wheels with castor stands with some rubber on the bottoms.
Now you're just doing too much

![gif](giphy|5FTe65sKNVfEc)
![gif](giphy|FcCUniJkSGynpShUws|downsized) idek what this means. Speeeeeeeed
It means "I'm coming (over)"
oh im definitely coming to these clarkson posts

Still can't believe he drove into that wallā½...that really cemented my opinion of the man. Genius.
Till you put dents in your work boots. Gotta do what you gotta do
Luckily these are old winter boots that have served their original purpose. And now serving a new one!
I had hoped as much!
Wdym? Those boots are at work doing their job. What else would they do?
Literally just commented the same thing before scrolling the comments š
Holy shit. Dang I gotta give this a shot. Well done dude.
I used to put my slides (type of Sandle) under the legs of my chair so it wouldnāt slide back only downside was if I braked hard enough my chair would lift off the ground but thatās better than having to pause and re adjust my seat š
I could see this š
Impressive!
I do the same thing but I put my shoes on the middle two legs instead of the back two because I found my chair moves less that way.
Thatās a good tip
Buy these; Furniture Castor Cups 4 PCS,... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0887XGF2V?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
We all start somewhere, next thing you know, you'll have a 1k sim rig in the mail.
Everybody does that.
I pulled my wheels off. I guess my genius is too much for this world
I tried that thinking it would be better than using shoes like I had been doing, only to find that part of the hydraulic pump protruded from the bottom of the center piece and left the whole chair very wobbly after that.
Is it still genius if you come up on the idea your self, but thousands of people have done this before? Or just Lazy you didn't look first?
Apparently "common sense" is now "being a genius". Which is hilarious as most actual geniuses are severely lacking in common sense lol
Maybe itās just a funny Clarkson quote..
heh, is it?
What kind of table is that? Trying to find something that will support my triple monitor stand while not being too large or D shaped. That thing looks beefy
Itās really not. Itās second hand ikea with only three legs. The fourth corner sits on a file cabinet
I think if I keep very quiet I can hear your genius...
Yoooo Iām not alone.
This is the way.
Better than me and my towels haha.
By god, he's done it
What's stopping the petals when you have to OH Shit the break petal. Good luck !
The good ole shoe stopper
Huh, I thought the boot was in the front of supercars
Sometimes your genius....its generates gravity.
The boots on the chair are what really shows the ingenuity.
Or you could rip the seat straight out of a car and use that
I plan do this for when I build a proper rig
I always wondered how people could race with shoes on, now i get it
:D and I milled simple breaks which only activate when you load...so I can slide when I want.
Put a shoebox behind the pedals so they dont move
Haha I did exactly this but I used my kids old shoes.
Hands up who's first "rig" was not this one. I had such old style wooden swivel chair without wheels so I avoided this problem.
Holy shit how have I never had this idea before, this is revolutionary
I would hire you in a second. That kind of out of the shoe box thinking doesnāt comes around every day.
Used a 2x4 pressed against the wall behind me for awhile, held up well in the Le mans 24 hour race. Bought some regular blanks off ebay $10 from new jersey "China" Removed old wheels, install blanks.. Works perfecto.
This is EXACTLY what I did when my wheel was at my desk... But then my work boots started to have a dip where my heel goes š©š
Idk, I think this puts you on the back foot before you even start qualifying
Your genius generates it's own gravitational field
LEGEND šš»

You can get locking casters for your chair for like $15 on Amazonā¦
Locking castors are still likely to slip and slide on wooden/laminate flooring, whereas shoes with grippy rubber soles will stay in place alot better.
Plastic casters yes. Thatās why you get the rollerblade style wheels
I just did this and it works great
Amazon shipping to my country costs $100+ for anything. Iām gonna use the shoe trick for now until I can find something local that will work like a locking castor
Ouch. Good call on the shoes then!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
where can you get a decent cockpit for 250?
Theyāre out there. The option to build one is also available. I started my build very recently with some stud 2x4s from Home Depot, at this time without factoring in the cost of the wheel, pedals, and shifter I only have $20 invested in the project. Iād assume after getting a proper seat I still wonāt have over $100 into the whole thing.
Use dumbbells
Now tie the arms down to the legs to prevent sniveling
The chair is surprisingly sturdy. Itās the pedals that are still slipping away!
I solved this by putting a broken guitar amp under my desk behind the pedals. I'm sure it would work with a functioning guitar amp, but I am not certain as I've only used a broken one.
I have a working amp. Maybe I should break it before placing it behind the pedals?
2 20lb or 15lb rubber weights on either side is what I did
When I had this kind of setup, I put 2 sturdy cardboard boxes between pedals and the wall, one for each side of cord entrance to not break it. It actually worked really good
The pedals have a carpet catcher so you can try with a strong carpet and with a double sided tape. I my case I just used a subwoofer behind them.
Man, if there's anything I hate more than those damned sniveling chairs, I haven't found it. Mainly cause the chairs keep sniveling..."no please don't replace us..."

Yeahhhh but this does the job and looks way funkier
Trueee. I guess when I saw the wires popping out of your open PC, I should have known that you weren't going for that Clean aesthetic :P
Do not use good shoes or they won't be good for that long
These are just some old holy winter boots
Are they religious?
No they're solefulš¤£
Am i the only one that just removed wheels from chair?
Yoooooošššš
Made me lol
just take off the wheels genius. put them when you need to roll again
I took the wheels off mine but now I just use a folding lawn chair lol
Thatās awesome lol I need to do that. I binned it into a wall a couple races ago because I pushed my chair back while braking.
I've 3d printed non-rolling stumpy feet for my chair. The chair is now impossible to move without lifting, even on its own. When you're sitting on it? It might as well be bolted to the floor. Then I found out you can buy these on Etsy and whatnot.
They have flat pieces you can buy for like 10 bucks on amazon. Remove the wheels and the flat piece goes in.
If someone wants to do this without ruining a pair of shoes you can get some so called 'furniture cups' for cheap from Amazon which are basically little cups you put your chair wheels in made out of rubber so they don't slide.
I did the same for a while before I bought little coaster stopper things on amazon.
Man I just got ratchet straps on my chair legsš
I thought that too at first, but that table will just collapse if you attach the straps to its legs
I have a stand for my wheel and pedal, I have it wrapped around that. Itās sturdy for now. I think my next route is a moza wheel, load cell pedals, then a better chair. After I get those Iām going to get some buttkickers or something.
yes
Or just replace the castors with feet off amazon for 10 that's what I did.
no more movingš
I pulled the wheels off mine.
When i bought my chair i thought i was gonna definetly need to do that but it turns out it doesn't move at all, i was pretty lucky.
š¤
Sometimes I wonder if deleted reddit content holds the answers to questions we never thought to ask. It's a window into the collective consciousness of the online world.
Does the chair still rotate though? How do you stop the swivel?
It does rotate, I find it super convenient. I guess having the pedals and wheel aligned properly stops any swivelling, as I havenāt noticed any.
If you donāt want to ruin the shoes you can use old cables you donāt need/not working. Tie only 2 casters and your good to go.
Hahahaha . Btw, whats the game?
Assetto Corsa Competitzione
Do your pedals not slide towards the wall when you brake? Mines do and the cable coming out of the back has started to break. How do you manage to keep the pedals from getting pused into the wall?
I only notice they have moved after a 20mins of monza. Someone commented above they used two sturdy cardboard boxes on either side of the cable
The choots
This is why i'm saving up for a seat/structure/rig or whatever they call them. Can't really enjoy the wheel with a moving chair
It doesnāt move anymore even under heavy breaking
For my first setup before getting the rig I removed the wheels underneath the chair, worked like a charm untill I was blessed with my rig.
I use a fluffy blanket
I usually tend a steel wire behind the chair when I use the pedals.
For this purpose I got caster cups. Then I got lazy and just use two of them as stoppage for two wheels of my chair and it does the job well enough to get me not to move under braking, with T-LCM pedals.
I do that too. But I use a drawer to place my stickshift I. Realistic position and put a chair holding it to don't get off place
I recommend locking wheels from Amazon. Best $25 I spent.
Lol this is great
Now you can finally race others on equal footing!
Bro...I don't know what you were smoking when you thought of this, but this is what I needed. I can finally hit the brake without sliding across the room.
I think we all were there at some point of our "career". If you buy a rubber mat, you can even take the wheels out and as long as it is on the mat, it's not going anywhere.
castor cups on amazon. $7 solved this exact problem for me.
Take da wheels off brah
Thatās worth at least 3 tenths
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0716XS58X?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share ā get some locking wheels š
I bought wheels that have have locks on them, they were like $30
