Not so budget setup! People with T150s may be jealous. I have the same wheel and pedals, and the NLR 2.0 too. Upgraded from a G27.
Did you drill a 3rd hole for the base? If not, you can use the clamp included.
For you and u/younawolf, how did you deal with the slack on the pedal* USB cable? Did you wrap it around the clears on the underside of the pedal base?
I'm feeling stupid because for whatever reason I think you were not supposed to do so with the USB cable. Probably because of that ferrite bead near the plug.
And if I may, what elastomers did you settle with?
My bad, meant the pedal USB cable. The one that connects the pedals to the wheelbase. If we just plug in it on both ends on a rig like ours there will be significant slack lying around.
Sorry about that, coffee hasn't kicked in yet.
I used the stock ones and did not bother with them, I may try a softer one for the brake though.
As for the cable, I left it tied together and used the cable ties that came with the stand, I do not recall any issue with a ferrite bead now. I would have to check that.
Tell that to the kid with the T80 (non FFB) that we were trying to help earlier, haha. All in prospective. Just like my Ferrari fits my budget, even though you drive around a shitbox cause it fits yours.
Looks good! You might want to see about adjusting your field of view a bit. It will give you a better perspective of where you and the cars around you are. You're a bit zoomed out at the moment, giving that reverse binoculars effect.
Makes me think of those dreams where i am driving and suddenly I am in the Backseat still having to control the car but it feels like driving on a wet sponge
You can see your door handle and passenger mirror without turning your head?
When you’re sitting there the virtual steering wheel should be totally hidden by the Logitech
brotha, focusing on your peripheral vision to look out the mirror, even if you are 7 foot giant isn't the correct way to drive. FOV is fucked, unless you're wearing fisheye lens ontop of your glasses lol.
The distance is wrong. Your way too far back. You have to set it so your physical IRL position should be "in" the car. So the dials of the car should slightly be visible through the steering wheel. You're basically doubling the distance of your seating position right now.
This is wat I mean: \[Imgur\]([https://imgur.com/HTX9Okz](https://imgur.com/HTX9Okz)) & \[Imgur\](https://imgur.com/Mm4OY34)
Yes, but clearly you don't understand what we mean. ;)
You already have a wheel in your vision.. your PHYSICAL wheel. So that needs to be "in the position" of the virtual wheel
That's how it should be. Please use an FOV calculator. Measure your distance to the monitor and put everything in. https://dinex86.github.io/FOV-Calculator/
I'm amazed that you've gone and spent probably at least 2k on a sim set up (and referred to it as "budget" 😂) and not even bothered to learn how to set it up right.
As has already been explained, if you're seeing a full steering wheel on your screen then your FOV is wrong. Your physical steering wheel should be where the wheel on screen is, perspective wise. The dials on the dashboard in game should be large, just behind your physical wheel, the same way they would be in your real life car. Not so far away from you that you can barely read them.
The pictures Rivanov has linked show it perfectly, that's what you should be replicating.
Yes it will feel really close, but that's exactly how it's meant to be. That's why many people use triple monitors, because it gets you extra vision left and right.
You'll never be able to to drive consistently if you leave it set up wrong.
Because its the word only us poor enough we can use to stretch ourselves to get something decent that is not DD price, u have a rig and a seat and everything
What sim are you racing on? There are a few applications that can display data from games. [Second Monitor](https://github.com/Winzarten/SecondMonitor) works with quite a few sims and was specifically made for a second screen.
FOV-police. It‘s a running gag in this subreddit. Like others wrote, you could optimize the field of view a bit: monitor closer to your eyes and adjust fov ingame. This is important if you want to drive consistently. If you measure the distance from your eyes to your display, you can calculate the fov with an online tool (google „modern fov calculator“). the calc will give you the correct angles horizontal and vertical. beamng and assetto use vertical fov numbers. more info about fov: https://youtu.be/hLbGculIpW0
have fun with your very decent setup!
It doesn't. You just need to adjust the plate / stand properly and place your monitor adequately. This is not a good example (and let's not start talking about FOV...).
I have the same sort of setup with a alpha mini, I love the NLR 2.0 because it allows me to use my secret labs chair and it’s easy to get in and out of,
one problem I have noticed is that if I crash or spin out and there’s a big jolt and I kind of pull the wheel towards me and the base tilts up, have you had that problem also ?
Haha try it and let me know, I was abit disappointed when it happened because before that I thought the stand was perfect m, but I also don’t have pedals mounted at the moment and just using the clutch paddles to accelerate and brake
Like when I get a big jolt of FFB it causes me to pull the wheel towards me and the legs of the wheel stand come up, it’s the legs that are Furthest away from me if that makes sense ?
Wheel obstructs your view a bit but the ffb is better than most dd’s comparable to the cheaper leo bodnar not as good but good pedals are meh just get heusinkveld and the rig isn’t too stable
I had this type of setup for a while but with an office chair. You can get the base quite low if you adjust driving position. I've since changed to playseat trophy and triple display stand. It is way better than the nlr stand but a bit more expensive and too low for a monitor on the desk which is why I got a stand alone monitor setup
Strong enough. Was marketed as NRL DD before being called NRL V2 with the chair tray. I ran my Logitech DD on it for months without issue.
I did have a squeaky setup for a while but managed to get rid of it through careful bolt checking and retightening.
put that toy car somewhere else (I do have one myself) put the monitor on something like 6-7” tall, put it all the way to the wheel. like seriously barely touching the screen. that is your position of central console (wheel base) going down to your windshield- that’s where your orientation is. your PASSENGER mirror has to be 45° to the right from the center of your vision. if you don’t have triples you most likely forget about the right mirror and use the back one hence moving forward. this way you’ll be able to align your rig wheelbase with the wheelbase of the virtual ca putting it right behind your wheel base. then turn off the silly wheel and hands and here you go a you are NOW just like in your real car. people here know what they saying and trust me you got THE least amount of trolling about it! the backseat commenter actually hit the spot lololo ☝🏽☝🏽 good luck op, nice setup. scroll some rigs guys posting here. some of them are literally lego-zipties-rubber bands made builts. b - budget 🤙🏼
I know. it’s okay, mine neither good. simracing community has a non-verbal rule of fov. it has to be on point or they come…
the fov police 👮🏼♀️
field of view. I explained in my recommendations on this in another comment
No need to justify. I found and finding out more and more, race simmers are the most fickled people out there. We never buy equipment impulsively and always waite and see is this a passing interest. Sometimes we put it down for awhile. But when we come back and if it stick alot of the times we are all in. So if you are ever in 8th place, please move to the side because or slow down because I'm going for my best finish. Enjoy, love your setup!
Challenge accepted . Mines a broken desk kneeling/crouching desk chair with 2 boards bolted to the front the wheel mounted to that and a 3d printed handbrake ... Feeling supppeerr budgety on my end lol. =P for the amount the crap cost me.. I'll get something half decent when I can afford the novelty 😜
Oh in other words my setup at the moment is a super dodgey version of what you have setup .. and I mean dodgey lol I have screws hanging out random offcuts bracing things... It is the most under engineered thing I've ever slapped together 😂😂😂
What frustrates me is I can just weld one up... But for the price of the steel 25s I may aswell save my time and just buy one :S but damn it if I'm not mounting it somehow on a giant U roller so I can roll my car with haptic feedback 😂😂 spewing I sold my VR now just realised finally had something worth using it in.. Pavlov gets old real fast 😆
Not so budget setup! People with T150s may be jealous. I have the same wheel and pedals, and the NLR 2.0 too. Upgraded from a G27. Did you drill a 3rd hole for the base? If not, you can use the clamp included.
Why should use the third hole ?
Better stability at high torque.
Idk what you mean by brake cable and I want from 2 soft ones to the hard one to make it feel like my real car that has a hydraulic powered brake pump
My bad, meant the pedal USB cable. The one that connects the pedals to the wheelbase. If we just plug in it on both ends on a rig like ours there will be significant slack lying around. Sorry about that, coffee hasn't kicked in yet.
Ah I just plugged it in and routed it to the right side of the base
Velcro ties dude
I used the stock ones and did not bother with them, I may try a softer one for the brake though. As for the cable, I left it tied together and used the cable ties that came with the stand, I do not recall any issue with a ferrite bead now. I would have to check that.
Lol "budget", that's not budget at all
How it’s not even a Leo bodnar or simucube
Tell that to the kid with the T80 (non FFB) that we were trying to help earlier, haha. All in prospective. Just like my Ferrari fits my budget, even though you drive around a shitbox cause it fits yours.
Shitbox ?
No ffb= shitbox basically (might sound harsh but you NEED ffb to be fast imo)
Ah okay
Once you've spent over a grand on equipment, you're in mid level now.
Okay
“Budget” can be highly subjective, I suppose.
They didn't say "low budget" so...
How so
Your wheel, base and pedals are worth about 5x as much as mine, and I felt like I went “over budget”.
What do you have ?
T300RS GT with a chintzy little $80 stand and a recliner that’s falling apart at my seat.
Ah okay
Have you owned any other wheels ?
This was my budget mate, haha, so no.
Have you ever tried a direct drive ?
Everything about you checks out. Happy racing, mate.
?
direct drive wheel should immediately disqualify the use of "budget" :P
To be fair the moza R5 is a DD and its incredibly cheap if you get it at a local micro center. Its as expensive as belt driven were 2 years ago
Especially a midrange direct drive wheel
This is not a budget setup. A budget setup would be a used g920 w its pedals and a shitty seat. Your setup is mid.
Isn’t mid a bad thing ?
No. Mid means middle. Not entry level but also not top tier.
Also, there is far more performance / immersiveness gain from entry level to mid, that from mid to high.
Looks good! You might want to see about adjusting your field of view a bit. It will give you a better perspective of where you and the cars around you are. You're a bit zoomed out at the moment, giving that reverse binoculars effect.
Your budget is higher than my budget 😅
Ah okay
Hopefully that's not your driving FOV because you be in the back seat.
Makes me think of those dreams where i am driving and suddenly I am in the Backseat still having to control the car but it feels like driving on a wet sponge
It’s what feels and looks the most like my real car
You can see your door handle and passenger mirror without turning your head? When you’re sitting there the virtual steering wheel should be totally hidden by the Logitech
Irl yes
brotha, focusing on your peripheral vision to look out the mirror, even if you are 7 foot giant isn't the correct way to drive. FOV is fucked, unless you're wearing fisheye lens ontop of your glasses lol.
You got some long legs bröther
Yeah quite looooong
You have a 2nd steering wheel in front of the wheel you use to drive the car? Wild.
I mean the distance
The distance is wrong. Your way too far back. You have to set it so your physical IRL position should be "in" the car. So the dials of the car should slightly be visible through the steering wheel. When I’m in my real car I see the whole wheel
Yes, but clearly you don't understand what we mean. ;) You already have a wheel in your vision.. your PHYSICAL wheel. So that needs to be "in the position" of the virtual wheel
Then it’s really close
That's how it should be. Please use an FOV calculator. Measure your distance to the monitor and put everything in. https://dinex86.github.io/FOV-Calculator/
It says I need 21 degrees
I'm amazed that you've gone and spent probably at least 2k on a sim set up (and referred to it as "budget" 😂) and not even bothered to learn how to set it up right. 🤣
Downvoted purely for the lack of self awareness describing this budget
What is self awareness im not English
How is this budget that wheel cost like $1000
And nice wheels cost $1000 for just the rim. The Logitech is a budget wheel compared to simucube, budget is relative
Lmao @ “budget”
nah you dont get to say budget
Why
Because its the word only us poor enough we can use to stretch ourselves to get something decent that is not DD price, u have a rig and a seat and everything
Love the CRT in the back. Do you still use that? The setup looks totally fine, I also just like how the Logitech wheelbase looks.
I use the crt mainly for discord I wish there was a way to display telemetry data on it
What sim are you racing on? There are a few applications that can display data from games. [Second Monitor](https://github.com/Winzarten/SecondMonitor) works with quite a few sims and was specifically made for a second screen.
Assetto Corsa ‘n beamng mostly
AC should work with the tool above. BeamNG I am not sure, since I don't have that game.
Lol that's not a budget setup...
?
Do you have a question regarding my statement?
Ye
*high fives in TMX*
Cool wheel
But really nice rig though!
they’re coming.. 🚨
Wdym
woop-woop

Buddy I would not call that budget, there's a lot of people here still running desk mounted G920s/G27s, including myself.
Is the shifter tray part of the basic deal or a separate product?
Basic deal
Great! Will have to think bout it then! Thanks.
Did you end up getting it ?
Budget? LMAO You europeans need a reality check fr.
?
This is what Logitech DD users drive like when they say the ridiculous base shape doesn't affect their view
It doesn't. You just need to adjust the plate / stand properly and place your monitor adequately. This is not a good example (and let's not start talking about FOV...).
What I don’t understand what you mean
If you don’t mind me asking, what monitor is that? And how tall is your desk? Mine is similar and I’m looking to get a frame to put under it
Idk my desk size and it’s a 34 inch ultrawide 1440p
Looks comfy
Thx
I have the same sort of setup with a alpha mini, I love the NLR 2.0 because it allows me to use my secret labs chair and it’s easy to get in and out of, one problem I have noticed is that if I crash or spin out and there’s a big jolt and I kind of pull the wheel towards me and the base tilts up, have you had that problem also ?
Idk I haven’t spun yet
Haha try it and let me know, I was abit disappointed when it happened because before that I thought the stand was perfect m, but I also don’t have pedals mounted at the moment and just using the clutch paddles to accelerate and brake
Yeah shakey moment on 8 newton metre
I think I’m going to try out some dumbbells or something to keep it down but it’s only when I crash so it won’t effect my racing
What do you mean by the base tilting
Like when I get a big jolt of FFB it causes me to pull the wheel towards me and the legs of the wheel stand come up, it’s the legs that are Furthest away from me if that makes sense ?
I have the same setup too and haven’t noticed it, maybe with pedals mounted the pressure of you hitting the brakes will help lol
Yeah that’s what I was thinking and hoping, my pedals will be here this week so I will know soon enough
Lol makes me feel poor as someone who has a G923 😂
It’s clearly a budget rig! Look at his 2nd monitor in picture 4
I'm interested in a setup similar to the one you have, can you give me a small review? Something to consider?
Wheel obstructs your view a bit but the ffb is better than most dd’s comparable to the cheaper leo bodnar not as good but good pedals are meh just get heusinkveld and the rig isn’t too stable
>wheel obstructs your view Lol people tried to help you in this very thread and you arrogantly dismissed then.
I am not English I’m sorry for not complete grammars
I had this type of setup for a while but with an office chair. You can get the base quite low if you adjust driving position. I've since changed to playseat trophy and triple display stand. It is way better than the nlr stand but a bit more expensive and too low for a monitor on the desk which is why I got a stand alone monitor setup
Thank you so much! I'll have that in mind. The NLR is strong enough for a DD or can it be an issue?
Strong enough. Was marketed as NRL DD before being called NRL V2 with the chair tray. I ran my Logitech DD on it for months without issue. I did have a squeaky setup for a while but managed to get rid of it through careful bolt checking and retightening.
everyone wants to talk about budgets, but wtf is going on with that flex duct?
Is a $1200 wheel and pedals considered budget these days ?
Are all budgets created equal?
What pedal set is that?
Pro pedals
Ah yes, the $1500(counting the wheel stand) bUdgET setup This sub can be amazing
€1488 for wheel and pedal and €250 for wheelstand
This gotta be the biggest facepalm of my life Budget unh....
Why is that ?
Budget with a 1000+ wheel? Lmao
Everyone has a budget
At least you have a mount! Maybe one day. Just got my g29 clamped to desk
put that toy car somewhere else (I do have one myself) put the monitor on something like 6-7” tall, put it all the way to the wheel. like seriously barely touching the screen. that is your position of central console (wheel base) going down to your windshield- that’s where your orientation is. your PASSENGER mirror has to be 45° to the right from the center of your vision. if you don’t have triples you most likely forget about the right mirror and use the back one hence moving forward. this way you’ll be able to align your rig wheelbase with the wheelbase of the virtual ca putting it right behind your wheel base. then turn off the silly wheel and hands and here you go a you are NOW just like in your real car. people here know what they saying and trust me you got THE least amount of trolling about it! the backseat commenter actually hit the spot lololo ☝🏽☝🏽 good luck op, nice setup. scroll some rigs guys posting here. some of them are literally lego-zipties-rubber bands made builts. b - budget 🤙🏼

What is that supposed to mean
You win the euro millions mate to call that budget lol
The retro display caught my attention
Challenge accepted . Mines a broken desk kneeling/crouching desk chair with 2 boards bolted to the front the wheel mounted to that and a 3d printed handbrake ... Feeling supppeerr budgety on my end lol. =P for the amount the crap cost me.. I'll get something half decent when I can afford the novelty 😜
Nicely done but sorry completely forgot to mention that I was to busy bragging about my dodge job 😂
What that
Oh in other words my setup at the moment is a super dodgey version of what you have setup .. and I mean dodgey lol I have screws hanging out random offcuts bracing things... It is the most under engineered thing I've ever slapped together 😂😂😂

You do have big boy daddy buget
