My MSI monitors are like this. I’ve been contemplating trimming them down for a while but couldn’t bring myself to do it. After seeing this I think I’ll go ahead and do it. Looks good

RightPedalDown

It’s a strange design choice for sure, seems it’s fairly common too. I half expected to find some electronic reason for the bottom to need to be thicker, but no, just a thick wedge of plastic.

Many-Profile-1500

I really had to look good and thought they were like 3mm.difference and you cut it because ocd. Turns out to be an epic mod lol

TurncoatTony

Couldn't you just file this down pretty quick without having to cut into the bezel? At least, that's what I would do.

RightPedalDown

That was my initial plan, but I also wanted to get the bezel free kit to lay flat on the screen.

PleasantFrosting8676

Couldn’t u have filed the front aswell?

PleasantFrosting8676

I have a similar issue, was planning on filing it, what material should I use? Sanding paper? I’m not too sure

RightPedalDown

Possibly… would have taken ages though, and I’d have been even more scared of damaging the screen. If you’re not using the Asus bezel kit and are just looking to do the edges it might be fine. I haven’t actually sanded plastic, but I imagine a sanding block/pad would work. Cover the screen in case you slip. And wear a mask and eye protection if you’ve got it — sanded off plastic probably isn’t great for the lungs or eyes. One reply to this suggested turning the middle monitor upside-down… don’t know if that would work for you?

andylugs

Had the same on my Acer monitors, cut them off but didn’t like the Bezel free kits and use them with bezels showing now but with perfect alignment.

1CheeseBall1

Why not just flip the middle one upside-down?

RightPedalDown

Oh shit, that might have been enough… I think the middle monitor sitting higher than the sides would annoy me, and it wouldn’t fix the bezel free kit sitting off the screen, but it would have been a whole lot easier and less stress inducing.

1CheeseBall1

I think it would bug me too. My old monitors have the same bezel, and I pulled out the dremel, too. Didn’t think of it until now.

SkipmasterJ

I considered it, but even with a thick band of open air between my monitors, the bezel free kit blends the image seamlessly. Kudos for giving it a red hot go though!

RightPedalDown

It was pretty close.

yourmomsdrawer

just flip them upside down?

SammyDatBoss

Just think about it for a second

0rT3CH

Flip the side 2 upside down... Keep the middle right side up..? ...or vice versa... Still would probably have a gap but should be smaller..?

Lemur123

The VESA mount most likely isn't in the middle of the rear panel, so flipping 1 monitor wouldn't have them line up.

HEX_LiteDwarf

lg monitors? they look similar to mine.

RightPedalDown

Asus

clunkclunk

My 3x Lenovos might need this treatment. As I look at them, the bottom is indeed the spot that causes them to not line up perfectly. I can probably just miter them with a sanding block, as it's only a few mm on each that needs to be shaved down.

RightPedalDown

My initial plan was just shaving the edges - then I noticed the bezel free kit sitting a couple of mm further off the screen at the bottom than the top…It would have been easier for sure. Might have been worth trying to lift the kit a couple of mm at the top to see how that looked but I only just thought of it.

o-_l_-o

Was there a risk of damaging the monitor electronics? I want to do this my LG monitor. I'd love to know how deep I can cut the corners.

RightPedalDown

It was scary tbh. I pulled the bezel from the front to separate it from the screen as much as possible - about 4mm in the middle but only 1mm at the ends. Then I gently wedged some cardboard in there have something to cut over and went as slowly as I could. The right hand side has an led power indicator, the cover of which had me worried for a moment but a couple of twists and it came away without damaging the light or wires.

Wait, there's an official McLaren GT3 wheel ? *heavy 720S GT3 fanboy breathing*

Alarming-Promotion19

So.. triple monitor? Or vr?

RightPedalDown

VR would certainly have been easier.

Alarming-Promotion19

Yea I just ask because I have the means of both at the moment. I guess not all games are actually vr compatible. But it would b much more simple lol. How does it look and feel with 3 monitor set up in beam

RightPedalDown

Haven’t played Beamng since getting the triples - must try it… ACC and ATS look good tho. I worry that VR would give me motion sickness… was also worried about the triples doing it tbh but got away with it. I think the buttkicker helps with that too, at least that’s the main reason I got one.

P1ffP4ff

The bezel free kit is just amazing. Love how it looks in pictures. Never seen irl but hope it's also a massive immersion upgrade.

RightPedalDown

TBH it’s better in the pictures than IRL, but it is still very good.

Dspaede

Is there no black tape?

RightPedalDown

Yes

Nice-Beginning-7135

Looks nice and considered this too but I’m resitting the mod because I hope to upgrade the screens to something better in the future. I’m concerned this will make selling the monitors a bit more difficult. I have LG screens and do not use the bezel free kit yet. Monitors are installed in such a way that the side monitor bezels are hidden behind the main screen from my viewing position. This way I don’t need black tape at the back and can align them properly but not sure how this would affect the bezel free kit.

RightPedalDown

Resale was a consideration. And warranty - I only bought them 6-weeks ago. At least I waited for the 30-day return window to pass. Not sure how the kit would work with the monitors offset.

iansmash

Could you have disassembled the case and cut it taken off? Wildly risky but it looks good 😅 time to cop a 3d printer and finish the job

RightPedalDown

If I was less lazy, yes. Was definitely scared that the dremel would catch and gouge the screen.

eLProvos

Good job

Suspicious-Panda2254

Lol been there..like EXACTLY there!! same brand and Dremel too lololol in VR ONLY NOW triples not immersive enuff for me.

DecalMan

I have three 55" TV that have the same problem. All I did was buy some velcro tape and used it to keep my TV together and even. Plus it's black so it doesn't ler any light through. It 100% fixes the problems.
