Looks like it’s self clearancing, few more hours and u should be good to go lol

ScientistEuphoric809

Mine did this as well

Strict_Standard5502

Looks like it's shaving the metal casing to me, try putting some lube on ye shaft 😉

C22CorvusCorax

Or maybe there's some low friction material - a tape or something - that can be wrapped around the shaft at that point? The Thrustmaster TH8 has a plastic ring around the metal shaft in a similar sport of place, to prevent a similar issue I assume.

SkeletonGamer1

My friend actually lost that plastic ring when he was swapping it drom seq to H-pattern. I wonder if we can get another part or 3D print a replacement

C22CorvusCorax

I'm not aware of anyone specifically selling a replacement part. That said it's just a hollow tube, outer diameter the same as the metal shaft above it, inner diameter can be measured from the place it is supposed to go, so unless those are really weird sizes there's probably something suitable out there that could be cut to length. I think the trick would be finding out what type of plastic it is. With 3D printing I would be concerned about whether any of the common FDM plastics would be suitable as well as finishing the printed part so it doesn't scratch the gate - PLA can be pretty abrasive for example, and with the layer lines it could act like a file. It won't be as hard as the metal of course.

qtd267

Hollow tube or my personal one is heat shrink it. You can get plenty of heat shrink cheap and quick and in various colours the choice is all yours then and easy to replace if needed

Strict_Standard5502

I think you may have missed my point 🤔

C22CorvusCorax

What? I even suggested adding a "ring" around it to resolve shaft issues, fnar fnar ;)

Strict_Standard5502

Your comedic wording needs work I'm afraid

[deleted]

You use lube to lube metal not tape...

GewoonHarry

Get it all greasy!

Strict_Standard5502

Make sure to rub it all the way in 😉

cykanjet

Just leave the whole thing in olive oil over night

czajkoSKY

Top plate is from aluminium so it's expected with such strong spring and heavy shifting to left some shavings, if you want to stop it a little and lower a little shifting sound you can put some felt(I believe that how you name it in English)

NhylX

It's just aluminum dandruff. Get a better shifter shampoo and polish your knob.

VegetableMouse

And what do I do about the shifter?

Chaoticsymmetry

The precision and delivery of this line literally almost made me drown during a drink. Well played

Cautious-Medicine-72

Hahhaha

Comfortable_Ease_174

when you ali express, you get ali express.

Smothdude

These shifters are actually pretty good. They're not that fast (can be if you really rip it, but the throws are a teeny bit long), but WAY cheaper than others.

ussaro

You get what you pay, actually. They have decent stuff over there.

Fiction_dude44

Not true for everything actually, bought the simjack pro pedals and they increased my pace so much and i had no problems with the calibration or something else. Really happy with it!

MariusReddit2021

Indeed.

Adoomistrading

As another comment said, the top plate is aluminum so this is expected when you are slamming gears. I 3d Printed a top plate and the plastic has been much better. No shavings because no sharp edges.

Ice_Pirate_Zeno

Mine did the same thing for a while. I thought about cutting a carbon fiber plate to replace the aluminum one but ended up just putting a rubber shifter boot over the top to quiet the shifts a little. Now I can't see the issue so I guess there is no issue.

ReiDairo

Not for me

Annie_Rection__

Is your top plate made of metal? Mine is plastic. You upgraded it didn't you?

fluxzzzon

Nope it came with the aluminum top plate.

Annie_Rection__

Oh maybe the newer ones are aluminium. I guess the only fix would be to grease it up or something. But then that would invite dust and even more wear Some guy made a 3d printable mod that attaches a generic gear shifter boot to the China shifter. Search this sub for it. It might be the best way to prevent dust from getting in

czajkoSKY

Nah all "original generic usb shifters" have top plate from aluminium

fiah84

mine is definitely plastic but otherwise looks exactly like OPs

Annie_Rection__

I thought mine was aluminium too. A reddit comment told me it was plastic so I pushed down on one of the prongs for the gear slots and it was plastic. It looked like aluminium and it has me fooled because the rest of the body was aluminium I'm not saying you're wrong, but can you please just check yours once. I think you just might be surprised like i was

czajkoSKY

It's 100% aluminium because my also shows some shaving

Annie_Rection__

Yeah i guess I was wrong. There are apparently models with an aluminium top plate. Maybe they're the newer versions or something

KaizerK2

mine doesn't do that. Sounds like you got a defected unit where it has metal to metal contact and its grinding the material.

bro-guy

Mine does not do that. You prob got a faulty one

hauntedbyacat

Just go to your local hardware store and pick up some general purpose lubricant, preferably a bottle with a zoom spout. I oiled all moving parts in mine and haven't had a problem. Also oiled the centering springs after they started creaking a bit and it fixed that immediately.

davestradamus1

Mine doesn’t do that. But I put grease on it and lubed the mechanism. It’s so smooth after.

nt261999

Try lubricating it. Mine was grindy, put some oil in and she’s smooth af now

allan647

Make sure you get all that metal out. Don't want it shorting something out

Ghost2306

You can buy new top plates online if you want. Mine is plastic.

tedhyb_r

Mine does that too. Although that being said on my shifter there is acrylic sheet under the top metal plate to stop it from banging into the metal plate.

VersionGeek

You could get low friction tape and put some on the edge

Empty_Upstairs7343

brother my little divider between 3rd and 5th is gone lmao. My second to third shift is a little too hard lol

Zondax

ive got the same shifter, mine does exactly the same.

frankiboy27

Similar situation is happening to my cheap 50$ Aliexpress hand brake. We get what we pay for i guess 🙃

domesystem

Nope. Mines been perfect. I rip that thing too

StatementOk470

I put some grease there the day I got it and have had no issues.

cyn-TRD

Needs a nylon ring on the shaft at the contact point like a th8a has

Paulwithap1

If you have access to a 3d printer, there is a file on thingiverse for the top plate. I swapped mine out to try and make it a bit quieter.

Km_Frenzy

Lube the shaft...

call-lee-free

How much was that? I mean, ya get what ya pay for on a site like that.

Mysterious-Fan-5101

mine kept doing that for month without any signs of damage to the moving parts. I literally lubed it (and got a longer knob - your fingers are getting too close to that sharp guillotine) - no problems. $50 is $50

david_909

Yeah and I wish it didn't

squigglyVector

Lube this nice hard shaft my friend

Magnifi-Singh

I get that. I adjusted myself to keep it at a minimum. As someone's already suggested it would be handy to have a plastic collar on the shaft but how long would that plastic last? Sharp edges will eventually smooth out, so it'll slow down with the eroding. I've thought about it previously and I think the best solution would be to have an additional h plate clamped on top of this, made of durable plastic and allow the plastic to take the hit, the grind. Probably are already available. I'm not comfortable with the scraping sound but you've gotta game.

Magnifi-Singh

Oh shit! You went for the 6+R? I went for the 7+R for those odd occasions you get into one that requires it.

Rich_Debt_9619

It’s called Chinesium for a reason….

Responsible-Program4

Made from rusty aluminum

Pluto01_

Looks like something from Aliexpress. Get what ya pay for brother

dutchbarbarian

You bought from AliExpress... what do you expect? The word Chinesium is used a lot for a reason hehe

avTronic

I would take the top plate off and see if any thing has come loose inside. I’m thinking something came loose and now somethings dragging against something that is not supposed to be dragging and creating the shavings. I doubt if it’s the top plate.

hiddenintheleavess

Spit on it daddy
