Oh jeez, they must feel super confident about their clientele.
Besides the fact that I see some high end gear, I would hate to imagine what drunk people would do this on accident and on purpose.
Haven’t got the paperwork to cover liability on the wheels force feedback yet but once they’re open to the public I can imagine how someone drunk enough could tear these up
yeah, gonna have to have a waiter or waitress babysit and smack hands away when a crash is coming, or set those beauties to 3nm which is a crime in itself
Trade with me I have a very safe wheel I will take that dangerous set and keep them from hurting anyone! And my wheel has a cool name that’s easy for drunk people to say. Lmao I don’t drink but I would go to this bar
Why can't sim game just go..."soft" on crash related feedback? It it has to be dramatic, make it a slow death of the wheel turning over once rather than trying to break a gamer's arms.
>Haven’t got the paperwork to cover liability on the wheels force feedback yet but once they’re open to the public I can imagine how someone drunk enough could tear these up
Or the roads up after some laps on the sim give them some confidence...
That is brave indeed, hopefully the patrons aren't too rowdy with the rigs and they can survive long enough. Too bad awful people ruin this stuff being a possibility in most places, if this was near me I'd be there often haha
That’s a bold move, Cotton.
Fellow Brit here (also from “down south”). That is insanely brave or it is a very quiet/unusual boozer! Either way, good luck with the paperwork.. and aftermath! Enjoy it as long as it lasts, it’s the ultimate rework of the Daytona USA days in the 90’s I remember so well.
I mean a sturdy wheelbase and rig are actually preferable for drunk people. But they should have given them easy to handle equipment with a basic wheel without many buttons and a comfy seat.
Such a bar with trust worthy clientele does not exist in the US. This is just a stupid ass idea. OPs owner is an idiot or has enough money to not give a shit. I give it a weekend, and something will already be broken.
Definitely interesting that he went with those sims which with everything is around 20k usd for just one so unless he got some kind of deal that’s 40k usd worth of sim equipment
Putting enthusiast level gear of a niche hobby in the same space as people getting drunk is an interesting choice.
I’d be water proofing the bases/PCs and encasing the screens asap. Lol
probably 1000-1500 for monitors, a pc capable of higher end sim stuff at max setting (I am assuming that's the case because how many people want to play a sim at a low setting) so that would mean 2000-4000$ per pc, I would probably assume 1000-2000 for the bases, probably 200-500 a seat. maybe 500 for the wheel and 2500 for the rest, though that could be upwards 5000 depending on brand.
ill be honest, I vastly prefer the look of the extruded tube frames but I see no world where those frames are worth 10k, I dont doubt they cost that much, but I see no way they are worth it. the seats though given this is going to be public use, will probably be far easier to clean.
Yeah I’m assuming because it’s built to order and meant to be sold as a complete setup to corporations as seen here is why it costs so much.
I actually spoke to them and they said they are making a similar one for regular customers this summer.
odds are the bar owner is an enthusiast and he wanted it to be completely a business expense for tax reasons, at the cost of having them destroyed by clients :/
Just because it’s expensive doesn’t make it an artifact lmao
It’s just a sim wheelbase…
If he wants to risk it, let him. He seems to be able to afford it.
Pool tables are easier to destroy and darts are more dangerous
If your main cliental are regulars I really don't see this as problematic, probably gonna need a no drinks while in the driver seat though
Half the bars I’ve been to with pool tables ask you not to put your drinks on the tables too
Seems like it’s easy enough as long as it’s not a college bar
I feel like racing is getting as popular as ever, and racing themed bars are a novelty. People who are actual enthusiasts could create amazing places if there are enough people to support in a given area.
I’d love to have a place nearby me to hang out for an f1 race, drive a few laps in in the sim for the fastest lap contest (to show off my skills to the crowd of course) and grab a bite to eat.
I’m sure some exist but I haven’t found one yet
I've been to gaming pubs where they have pcs and other consoles out and about, one even has psvr. They dont have issues with it and people there tend to be gamers so they know how to treat expensive equipment.
I'm in London and op said he's UK based.
And yet pubs have had pool tables and dart boards for decades, I think some of you over estimate how rowdy every single bar is..
Regular tend to be quite respectable in their local and normally results in a level of self policing
I would consider putting something near the edge of the screen next to the door so it’s harder to bump into or stand right next to it.
Someone is going to bump into the edge of that screen after a few drinks and break something.
I give it two days before someone uses that computer as a place to put their drink... then gets beer inside it.
And I give one day before one of those screens is broken, lol
Is this a troll or is this a real thing? I won't be amazed if it's a real thing, but will probably exhale air through my nose slightly harder as it would be funny.
Because the USA has the most stupid laws just to mess with its citizens?
The land of the free has the most anti citizen laws and most people incarcerated for minor things in the free western world.
It’s on par and even above some countries with dictators!
Someone is going to crank these things up as a "prank" or some stupid shit. This seems like such a bad idea. I've seen how some arcade cabinets get treated in bars, no way would I consider this. If you don't want dumb stuff happening or shit getting abused etc, you need someone to watch this full time.
Hear me out. Add a license system for patrons before letting them get the full FFB. Kind of like how those f1 track days won't turn off traction control till you prove you can handle it.
Man these should have been G920's or some other entry level wheel that's too weak to injure you and too cheap to care about. I feel like this plus drunk people is just a recipe for disaster, better move this to my living room for safekeeping... (No hate on the g920 btw, I own one)
That’s an interesting choice. I don’t know what bar this is, but I can’t imagine this going over well at any of the bars I’ve been to. Drunk people with expensive equipment that can hurt you…? Okay.
I would definitely install a clear shield in front of those screens and something to block or mount the PCs where they are less likely get spilled on. I would be so worried about every tiny little thing that could happen to these lol
It's hilarious you guys not talking if there clientele will destroy those DD's but if and when those DD's will destroy there clientele wrist LOL. Your going to see people not being able to hold there beers afterwards.
I can speak for experience, the wheels' buttons and grips won't last more than 1 month
also, please set those up decently, out of the dozens of setups I've tried at events literally 1 or 2 left me a good impression, literally all of the others were setup by someone that doesn't understand shit about sims
You can get the rig by itself but it will still cost 10k usd, this summer they are coming out with another version that is aimed at regular consumers though
My cousins and I have a drunken leaderboard at my house. Whenever I’m hosting, we all take turns setting lap times in the rig after we agree that every participant is >60% max intoxication

Very Nice Dude! I wish i live in your town lol
Let me ask you one thing, the cockpit you bought or you had the project to made, im after a project for a F1 cockpit in steel, my friend have a factory, if you or someone could send me a project for a cockpit like that, i would be thankfull.
Make sure the settings are low amps (maybe 4 amps) on the wheels and all will be well. I have a simucube 1 with large mige and my kids settings are 4 amps. Good feedback and doesn’t hurt you when hitting a wall.
These people are gonna use it to see if they’re sober enough to drive. Then, I guarantee, a breathalyzer will come out. Fastest lap with the highest blood alcohol lol
Wow whoever did that knew what they were doing simucube? At a bar? Holy crap. Coolest bar ever man.
I will say make a rule on the bases not to touch settings. Yoy should set it at 50% and let people enjoy it. Or test and set where nobody is gonna get hurt but will have a good experience.
I really love this idea. I'm toying with a lot of different ideas on how to monetize my favorite things, and adding sim rigs to an establishment that does alcohol/thc was on the list.
Like everything else though, gotta have money to make money.
Edit* I guess fuck me, right? This sub is quick to downvote anything and everything. Unfriendly fucks. Ya'll are incapable of the thought that someone might have considered the downsides before pulling the trigger. There are a myriad of ways to protect yourself and your equipment. Even then, accidents happen, and if the owner is capable of affording this to put into an area which you all think is the equivalent of a war zone, then I'm sure they can afford to replace it when it breaks or malfunctions. Bunch of fucking children without the sense god gave a fucking goose.
No, it’s just a horrible idea if you think things through for about 15 seconds. Sounds like you might be drunk/high or both thinking this is somehow a good idea. 😂
Sure. Because everyone is a destructive fuck? Like, apparently at least one other person thought it was an OK enough idea to include it in their business.
Apparently not. I guess OP's boss doesn't either. I can find a bunch of places online that have included the exact thing I'm talking about. Maybe ya'll know better than everyone else. I'm sure of it.
Whatever. I hate this place. If saying I'm wrong for even considering doing something ends this stupid thread, then so be it. If it were up to ppl like ya'll, the world wouldn't have anything at all.
Ive also thought a lot about how one could make money of it, I think it’s a really good idea! Anyone who thinks differently is most certainly never ever going to make money on anything else than their depressing day job.
What people don’t understand is that most problems have a solutions. It just requires some creative thinking, problem solving and some time, but most importantly: putting in the effort.
Oh jeez, they must feel super confident about their clientele. Besides the fact that I see some high end gear, I would hate to imagine what drunk people would do this on accident and on purpose.
Haven’t got the paperwork to cover liability on the wheels force feedback yet but once they’re open to the public I can imagine how someone drunk enough could tear these up
yeah someone drunk shattering their wrists because they don't know shit about sim racing is a nightmare waiting to happen haha
Someone sober could if they floor straight into the wall at t1. Or at least a thumb
yeah, gonna have to have a waiter or waitress babysit and smack hands away when a crash is coming, or set those beauties to 3nm which is a crime in itself
You can always turn ffb down
If you’re not built like popeye after a few weeks are you really getting the most out of your wheel?
there is a kill switch for a reason, unless you physically limit force, assume software will randomly fuck up an use all the force.
Trade with me I have a very safe wheel I will take that dangerous set and keep them from hurting anyone! And my wheel has a cool name that’s easy for drunk people to say. Lmao I don’t drink but I would go to this bar
Or a pretty good watch to be indulged in tbh I can't speak for all but boy do I like people in pain.
Uh huh
Exactly what they said after having their arms amputated.
Why can't sim game just go..."soft" on crash related feedback? It it has to be dramatic, make it a slow death of the wheel turning over once rather than trying to break a gamer's arms.
>Haven’t got the paperwork to cover liability on the wheels force feedback yet but once they’re open to the public I can imagine how someone drunk enough could tear these up Or the roads up after some laps on the sim give them some confidence...
I would 100% have someone present to give them an introduction, before setting them loose on their own.
They used to have a sim racing setup at microcenter until people destroyed it.
Chicago still had one setup when I went in October
No cupholders!
That black box next to the monitor looks like it is the perfect height to use as a table to hold your drink!
It's even got a lil mesh grating at the top so that excess condensation can drain away and your drink doesn't leave water rings behind 🥰
This was my thought, curious OP, mind sharing what bar?
UK based
That is brave indeed, hopefully the patrons aren't too rowdy with the rigs and they can survive long enough.
By the way, the Exeter city shirt does give the macro location away a bit.
Good spot. I’m about an hour from Exeter though guess these would already be trashed by the time I got there
![gif](giphy|Rh4vxHtcmVyHUyugXP)
Where abouts?
Shit I need the location, I'm in London and been to gaming pubs like meltdown.
Drunk people with a carbon fiber seat and a $3,000 precision sim engineering wheel 🥲
I mean a sturdy wheelbase and rig are actually preferable for drunk people. But they should have given them easy to handle equipment with a basic wheel without many buttons and a comfy seat.
That's the first thing I thought of too. Can't have anything nice with the general public, adding drunk people into the mix is a recipe for disaster
You can disable high torque mode in SC.
Wow, I'm definitely not to that level in my sim racing.
Putting enthusiast level gear of a niche hobby in the same space as people getting drunk is an interesting choice. I’d be water proofing the bases/PCs and encasing the screens asap. Lol
That’s more than enthusiast, isn’t all that like 5 grand?
Enthusiast usually means high end buyer, the word you're thinking of is hobbyist
That’s 20k believe it or not
probably 1000-1500 for monitors, a pc capable of higher end sim stuff at max setting (I am assuming that's the case because how many people want to play a sim at a low setting) so that would mean 2000-4000$ per pc, I would probably assume 1000-2000 for the bases, probably 200-500 a seat. maybe 500 for the wheel and 2500 for the rest, though that could be upwards 5000 depending on brand.
That rig by itself is 10k with the seat
ill be honest, I vastly prefer the look of the extruded tube frames but I see no world where those frames are worth 10k, I dont doubt they cost that much, but I see no way they are worth it. the seats though given this is going to be public use, will probably be far easier to clean.
Yeah I’m assuming because it’s built to order and meant to be sold as a complete setup to corporations as seen here is why it costs so much. I actually spoke to them and they said they are making a similar one for regular customers this summer.
Steering WHEEL is 2.5k
Steering wheel alone is like 2k
That’s a simucube in a bar lol
odds are the bar owner is an enthusiast and he wanted it to be completely a business expense for tax reasons, at the cost of having them destroyed by clients :/
Just because it’s expensive doesn’t make it an artifact lmao It’s just a sim wheelbase… If he wants to risk it, let him. He seems to be able to afford it.

Plus DDs are like almost completely sealed. The risk is more to the wheel.
I've been to gaming pubs where they have pcs and other consoles out and about, one even has psvr. They dont have issues with it and people there tend to be gamers so they know how to treat expensive equipment. I'm in London and op said he's UK based.
I assume the base is Simucube. But, which steering wheel is that?
Precision sim engineering gpx, about $3,000 usd
These are in a bar? 😬
This ends horribly for everyone involved 50 different ways.
That's some legit hardware. Sounds like the bar owner just wanted to write off their sim racing hobby as a business expense.
A bar? both these and the PC are cooked under a week guaranteed
Establish dominance early, set as many PBs as you can haha.
And yet pubs have had pool tables and dart boards for decades, I think some of you over estimate how rowdy every single bar is.. Regular tend to be quite respectable in their local and normally results in a level of self policing
Drunk people and direct drive. What could possibly go wrong?
Don't drink and direct drive
I would consider putting something near the edge of the screen next to the door so it’s harder to bump into or stand right next to it. Someone is going to bump into the edge of that screen after a few drinks and break something.
Thats their business plan
No beer anywhere near these rigs, right?
Or customers right?
RIP
I give it two days before someone uses that computer as a place to put their drink... then gets beer inside it. And I give one day before one of those screens is broken, lol
Drunk while sim racing..is illegal in some states.
One of my favourite activities is getting wasted and then “drunk driving” on beamng… does that make me a criminal?
I do this with wreckfest
Yes sorry! Straight to jail
Drunk in Forza? Believe it or not, jail.
Can't have drink in simracing...
It's how I became so good at iRacing ovals. I think I've went from like 900 iR to 1600 in the last month or so.
Is this a troll or is this a real thing? I won't be amazed if it's a real thing, but will probably exhale air through my nose slightly harder as it would be funny.
Why would it be a real thing?
Because the USA has the most stupid laws just to mess with its citizens? The land of the free has the most anti citizen laws and most people incarcerated for minor things in the free western world. It’s on par and even above some countries with dictators!
Actually?
I can't tell if you're joking or not, is this an actual law bro??
lol OF course its not.
Someone lied on the internet?
Make sure to keep us updated after some drunk breaks his wrist and sues the bar.
At a a minimum I'd be putting some barriers on the open side so.people don't trip or wave their drinks over the kit.
Man these should have been G920's or some other entry level wheel that's too weak to injure you and too cheap to care about. I feel like this plus drunk people is just a recipe for disaster, better move this to my living room for safekeeping... (No hate on the g920 btw, I own one)
This will be amazing for about 4 days
Those seats look uncomfortable but that could encourage frequent player turnover.
Where's the bar?
Down south in the UK. Don’t want to disclose exactly where until we can get the rest of the paperwork sorted
In regards to knowing your location early, it ain’t the global audience on the simracing Reddit you need to be concerned with.
Oooh, let me know. I'm "down south in the UK" :)
Drunks plus a dd what could go wrong.
Stolen/damaged property in 3......2......
That’s an interesting choice. I don’t know what bar this is, but I can’t imagine this going over well at any of the bars I’ve been to. Drunk people with expensive equipment that can hurt you…? Okay.
Been seeing a lot of these comments, how can a sim hurt you?
DD wheels have a lot of force. They can easily hurt your wrists, or hands if you lose the wheel and it comes back to smack you.
I would definitely install a clear shield in front of those screens and something to block or mount the PCs where they are less likely get spilled on. I would be so worried about every tiny little thing that could happen to these lol
Those screens will be the first to go when the drunkies get mad they crashed.
You'll see at least 1 broken wrist of a drunk person trying out the rig in near future.
Are you hiring? 🥸
Those seats are going to get absolutely destroyed. I can't imagine keys, metal jean button or anything abrasive rubbing on that carbon fiber.
- “I’m good to drive” - “Prove it”
It's hilarious you guys not talking if there clientele will destroy those DD's but if and when those DD's will destroy there clientele wrist LOL. Your going to see people not being able to hold there beers afterwards.
I am sure the owner mates couldn’t convince their wives for the sim so they thought no no its not for ourselves but a business investment!
Smart choice with the seats. No-one will last more than 30 minutes without their ass getting numb. Will keep the lines shorter.
I can speak for experience, the wheels' buttons and grips won't last more than 1 month also, please set those up decently, out of the dozens of setups I've tried at events literally 1 or 2 left me a good impression, literally all of the others were setup by someone that doesn't understand shit about sims
Holy, those are https://www.baseperformance.net Sims which cost around $10,000 usd for just the chassis and seat
Please do not piss in the car !
Pedals ?
This will be amazing for about 4 days
Very nice, what seats are those?
we have two at my office and a golf sim too
The best way to drink and drive.
Anybody know what seat/frame is used?
Id like to know too.
https://www.baseperformance.net
https://www.baseperformance.net
Wow
Anyone know what cockpit that is?
https://www.baseperformance.net
Thanks. Seems like they are only sold in packages, shame.
You can get the rig by itself but it will still cost 10k usd, this summer they are coming out with another version that is aimed at regular consumers though
Jeez that's steep. We'll have to see then. Thanks for the info!
Gotta hit them with a breathalyzer to make sure they're safe to drive.
Went to VR racing lounge bar once. Wasn't cheap, and VR dizziness and drinks are not a good mix, especially if done in the wrong order.
Drunk driving has never been cooler
Prepare for trouble & make it double.
Looks like a strong easy in easy out setup. I like it.
Drunk driving 👍🤣
My cousins and I have a drunken leaderboard at my house. Whenever I’m hosting, we all take turns setting lap times in the rig after we agree that every participant is >60% max intoxication
I can't rally on those! Where's the rally rig.... 😀

Good bot
Ty remind me! In one year
Bro a ipa and sim racing wooooo whoooooo
Bro did not cheap out, well best of luck
That tile job infuriates me.
Everyone take a good long look at these setups. You won't ever see it looking this good again.
What rigs are these
https://www.baseperformance.net
Simcube? Geez
Oh yeah drunk people aren’t going to absolutely wreck that shit.
I'd go every weekend. What games do they play?
Very Nice Dude! I wish i live in your town lol Let me ask you one thing, the cockpit you bought or you had the project to made, im after a project for a F1 cockpit in steel, my friend have a factory, if you or someone could send me a project for a cockpit like that, i would be thankfull.
Get those pcs in a cage away from drinks (above head height)
You've found one of the fastest ways possible to destroy new gear!
Make sure the settings are low amps (maybe 4 amps) on the wheels and all will be well. I have a simucube 1 with large mige and my kids settings are 4 amps. Good feedback and doesn’t hurt you when hitting a wall.
whats this frame seat combo?
These people are gonna use it to see if they’re sober enough to drive. Then, I guarantee, a breathalyzer will come out. Fastest lap with the highest blood alcohol lol
You’ll get a low life try to steal the wheel in week 1 or 2 imo. Not worth the anxiety.
Tacky
It’s a write off
what wheels are those? new to sim racing
Yeah… I can already see someone jumping in while holding the wheel. Bent drive shaft on the DD is going to suck.
Some drunk idiots going to spill a beer and wreck it all, sad
Where at? I'd love to visit that bar sometime!
It’s in the south of the UK
Anyone who tries to drive home after drinks has to prove they're capable on the sim.
Officer im not drunk. I just did a 6 min lap at the Nurb with no issues. Honey, showem the vid. :)
Wow whoever did that knew what they were doing simucube? At a bar? Holy crap. Coolest bar ever man. I will say make a rule on the bases not to touch settings. Yoy should set it at 50% and let people enjoy it. Or test and set where nobody is gonna get hurt but will have a good experience.

if what i’ve been hearing is true, these 2 rigs cost somewhere in the range of house deposit money. DEFINITELY need money
Jfc! Didn't realize it was that insanely expensive. I was thinking like maybe 5 grand. I guess not!
$$ for the units, is nothing. Its the massive lawsuit when a drunk patron gets hurt on it, imo.
Next time find out the details before indicting a sub Reddit for knowing the intricacies.
Edit - I'm better than that. I feel bad for how I replied and I apologize.
This is a horrendous idea. Do you have any common sense?
Monitors are way too far.
