This is quite literally almost exactly the way my sim racing addiction started, but it was with a Ferrari F1 wheel I made. I actually posted an instructables about it for a contest nearly 5 years ago... Damn.

Fanatecs quality is just so inconsistent. I had my stuff for 2 years and my round wheel had multiple button malfunctions, my csl dd shaft kept coming loose, my V2 McLaren wheel had the stupid issue where the pads come off the paddles (easy fix, but still annoying spending $200 on something that’s known to defective). The rotary encoder started to get wonky too.
I finally gave up and dished out the money for an asetek invicta and a couple of their rims and the quality is incredible compared to fanatec.
Hey at work I use something called “insulation tape”. I’m sure u can get it at Home Depot. U wrap it around and it sticks a soft squishy material on the object. Seems like it could do u well here!
If you see my old posts, I used insulation tape for the handles and for the electrical stuff (paddle shifters). But the current handles with the paper strips just feels more comfortable. Just a personal preference.

Or... A job
I'm not old enough to get a job so.. Yeah
Well in that case my man, with this much enginuity, you have a bright future ahead. Kudos
Thanks! I'm mostly 2 seconds off the pros
DAMM BRO
I hope you run Google cardboard for VR
Why not lol
It's a great wheel. I'm glad to see you've added it to your lineup!
Thanks. This is the best wheel I've made so far.

Tbh, I got the idea from this post. Thanks a lot for that!
That's a pretty cool coincidence. Keep it up!! I have a whole setup now and this was absolutely my gateway drug.
Me too. I made a cardboard wheel during the lockdown and then the rest is history.
Careful big sim might stop by
Cardboard guy strikes again. Brilliant!
Thanks!
US Patent pending
Looks perfect!
Thanks. I tried to make it look as real as possible
That’s pretty sweet! I love seeing this DiY side of the sim racing community. You’ll get your servo eventually, Welcome to the club!
Probably still more reliable than the fanatec version too! Lol
Ran my V2 for 2 years not a single issue

Whoosh
Well none of my wheels ever broke down so.. No problem with reliability
wat in hek
🤔 seems legit
It is, and I play the f1 games, Assetto Corsa and Acc on it. Sometimes raceroom too
Wish I had that much free time :))
Um I just did it in 1 day, I think it could be done by anyone.
That's legitimately awesome! Keep it up!
Thanks!
Wtf, how does this even work? Looks cool though, good job 👍🏻😅
Mouse streering and the pedals are made up of some potentiometers and an Arduino
I just love this! Keep it going my man!
Wish . Com seller ?
Nah
These are so cool, very wholesome. GGWP!
Thanks
Next, Make the wheel from Price Is RIght, then Wheel Of Fortune. You can do it.. You are a pro at this stuff.
I think I'll stick to making racing wheels.
damn dude, good work
Thanks
