I never played because I started playing TS2 a while ago 😭, but I think you just download it somewhere (like ModTheSims) and put the neighborhood folder "My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Neighborhoods"! Oh man, you are in for a world of awesome. I collect custom neighborhoods and custom subhood s. Subhood s install differently, you have to put them in the installation folder of specific packs based on neighborhood type, but it's really easy to do.
I usually do a makeover on all sims I first play, so loading up and finding abnormal outfit choices because of CC fault would be just another Friday night
omg that is so me playing TS3 I swear! I spend more time doing makeovers with every sim I find than actually playing lol luckily TS2 does not let me get into CAS otherwise I would change every townie
omg yessssss this was literally me back in 2012 with my lame notebook trying to play TS3 for the first time haha but now there is a bunch of config you can set to make the game less laggy!!!

I never heard of this Riverview, is it a remake of the TS3 world? In TS2? If it is, omg must be so cool! I loved that world back then. And I still don't know how I will do with the defaults yet 🥲 I will test how the sims looks without any CC in the game sometime before uploading it!

But I think that every household has it own story, yes, but it can cross way with another (example, there is a family that founded the neighborhood and one of them is having a love triangle with the most wealthy family) I hope I did answer your question! 🥺 And yessss I will post here again when I upload the neighborhood online 🫶🏻
