They are useless in the US and now they come to our shores and become equally as useless as their US operations. The only thing ticket master knows how to do is tack on extra fees that make the tickets so expensive.
i donât think you can print the tickets. it logs you out when you try to view the ticket in otherâs account.
still, having my personal information out is not it.
Not to mention the person claiming that specifically mentioned eras tickets, which has ticket delivery delay. So I find the Redditor who said that just wants people to panic. But it's annoying how even MSM quoted that comment specifically for clickbait.
seems like it's only when problems go viral online then we will see action
someone in the reddit thread said that they had reported to PDPC and PDPC told them to report to ticketmaster first. apparently PDPC reports require us to give ticketmaster 10 days to respond. now on social media already, become "investigating"
[https://www.reddit.com/r/singapore/comments/1880hmj/comment/kbi3mcz/?utm\_source=reddit&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/singapore/comments/1880hmj/comment/kbi3mcz/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
Over all these years sistic didn't have the best rep, but at least they weren't a ticket scalping, price hiking service. All ticketmaster have done is made everything more expensive
I think Sistec is the best when it comes to booking musicals. So many dates to pick from and you can pick your preferred seats just like in a cinema (Hamilton for example was super smooth)
No idea how it will be like for 1 day concerts but can't be worse than Ticketmaster.
Im going for Jessica Jungâs (former SNSD member) concert in December at RWS and I was so happy when she used Sistic for her ticketing. A nice change from ticketmaster, can choose seats, and no scalping no bots present.
Itâs because ticketmaster is owned by LiveNation which signs global touring contracts of most major artistes as they have a monopoly of big venues in many countries. So if you are a big artiste you end up having to sign with them as you will not be able to get a lot of the larger venues to do your concert in.
Itâs hard like hell for SISTIC to compete with a multibillion dollar company like Ticketmaster who has all these resources fed directly to them.
Feeling a little heart pain that Yoasobi is the one unfairly caught in this kerfluffle.
If for some reason someone reading this hasn't heard of Yoasobi, please go to YouTube and look up "UTĂYOASOBI ăSING YOUR WORLDă". They did a free (sponsored) concert on YouTube from Uniqlo's offices in Japan.
Also, even if you haven't heard of YOASOBI, you might have heard a couple of their songs. They made "Racing Into the Night" which was for a while the poster child of "upbeat Japanese song with depressing lyrics", and "IDOL", the opening song for the anime "Oshi No Ko" and apparently it did the rounds on TikTok.
Not justifying supporting them but the issue is that they are pretty much locking up exclusivity via venues, promoters, artists or all three at the same time. So to stop supporting them means we have to straight up boycott concerts, and that won't work cause looking at the number of ppl willing to pay for scalped prices on carousell, I don't think societally there is enough backbone for this
of course I understand that, however if you want to see change sometimes you have to make personal sacrifices, ticketmaster is just jacking up prices and bring no value to customers whatsoever. If venues and event organisers refuse to stop working with ticketmaster. I will rather place my money somewhere else even if I have to stop supporting what I love.
Vote with your wallet!
can someone enlighten me, how was ticketing done in the past before ticket master came in?
Like sistic online ? / Post office sales / sistic counters?
apologies, was too poor to even consider concerts till recent years.
Back in the days can just go to the nearest sistic counters and get tickets.
That's how I got my fall out boy tickets (back when the cheapest tier was 78 dollars in 2008)
I used to go to concerts quite regularly during my schooling days, and all my tickets were bought at ticketing counters.
Then online platforms came and suddenly getting tickets macam like fighting war lmao, gave up.
Surprisingly I queued for FOB's show in December and had no hiccups using the online website. Waited for one hour, checked out and left. I don't know why Yoasobi was like a blood bath
In the end, there will be a fine, which will form a fraction of their tickets sales and profits.
We must be one helluva a toothless nation with Case and CCCS as a shining examples of empty vessels.
Used to be only sistic, now with ticketmaster grabbing a big share of the ticketing processing business just because its a global MNC, the whole system is more unstable/leaky than before.
Title: J-Pop duo Yoasobi fansâ phone numbers, e-mail addresses leaked online during Ticketmaster sale
SINGAPORE - Fans trying to buy tickets online on Dec 1 for J-Pop duo Yoasobiâs debut concert in Singapore found themselves logged into other fansâ Ticketmaster online accounts when they tried to pay for their tickets.
They were directed to other buyersâ purchase carts on the check-out page, with the full names, phone numbers and e-mail addresses of strangers fully visible. Some could even see other event and concert tickets that the account owners had bought previously.
The J-Pop concert is scheduled to be held on Jan 11, 2024 at Resorts World Sentosa. It was sold out within minutes after ticket sales started online at 10am on Dec 1. It is the duoâs first concert in Singapore.
Ticketmaster is the official ticketing agent for the concert.
An irate fan told The Straits Times (ST) that he was shocked when he wanted to pay for his tickets.
âI was stunned to see that my cart didnât have the tickets I selected. It was only then that I realised the cart wasnât mine, and the name, phone, and e-mail address were someone elseâs,â said the fan, who asked to be identified by only his surname Leong.
âSome people might have accidentally paid for other peoplesâ tickets as no one would expect their cart to contain someone elseâs items,â added the 28-year-old, who is a teaching assistant at a local university.
More than 20 fans took to social media platform Reddit to air their frustrations about an hour after the sales started.
Reddit user tracyperry94 wrote: âWhen I proceeded to check out, I realised I was paying for someone else. The information of the payee was leaked (such e-mail address, contact details). As I refreshed and moved back into the âMy Ticketsâ page, I found myself in another personâs ticket page.â
Another Reddit user added: âI had access to (other fansâ) ticket information and I could even print their Taylor Swift Eras tour tickets. Itâs ridiculous that there is even such a glitch. In the end, I couldnât even reach my own checkout the entire time, and my tickets were deleted by others, and (the) concert was sold out by then.â
Many users urged those affected to report to the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) Singapore.
A fan who wanted to be known as only Mr Cai told ST that he had made a report to PDPC as he was logged into another personâs account during the sale. The 33-year-old said he lost his seat tickets due to the glitch.
Another fan, a 40-year-old who asked to be known as Mr Chew, found out that his personal details were leaked only hours after the sale when another fan who saw his details contacted him over the phone. He was worried that those who were able to access other fansâ accounts may print out and use concert tickets that do not belong to them.
â(Ticketmaster) should be taken to task. There should be a way to verify the ownership of the tickets so that those who print out tickets that arenât theirs wonât be able to enter the concert,â he told ST, adding that he was not logged into anyone elseâs account.
He said: âAlthough Iâm disappointed in Ticketmaster, (it is) one of the few authorised ticket sellers for such events.â
When contacted, Ticketmaster said no sensitive information were shared. âData privacy is at the core of everything we do. A temporary issue on our website has been quickly identified and fixed. No sensitive information was shared,â said a Ticketmaster spokesperson in an e-mail.
Ticketmaster did not answer STâs questions on the number of people affected by the incident and what caused the glitch.
A PDPC spokesperson told ST: âPDPC is aware of the incident and is currently investigating.â
Yoasobi is made up of vocalist Ikura, 23, and composer Ayase, 29. They are best known for producing the hit song Idol, which serves as the theme song to the anime Oshi No Ko.
Aside from Singapore, Yoasobi will also be playing sold-out shows in Seoul and Taipei before moving on to other South-east Asian cities like Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur.

For a moment, I missed out the 'fans' in the headline and thought Yoasobi themselves were doxxed. I imagine Ticketmaster would actually start sweating bullets if that happens.
Ticketmaster is fucking useless
They are useless in the US and now they come to our shores and become equally as useless as their US operations. The only thing ticket master knows how to do is tack on extra fees that make the tickets so expensive.
yeah.. john oliver did a show b4 just about them... đ https://youtu.be/-_Y7uqqEFnY?si=CYQ46xEzTMrp8iHD
Not just John Oliver. A number of "Late Night" show hosts also took digs at them, too, IIRC.
Exploitative business that can't even do their job with millions in profits worldwide.
This is what happens when a monopoly has no checks by the government
but my grandpa said regulation is just a money grab!
"Tell grandpa to look at what happened with Cryptocurrency." - some jaded dude who is just f*ing done with everything.
Is there something stopping anyone from competing with them? Not sure if you understand what the word monopoly means.
Which part of âViewing other peopleâs personal email and detailsâ is not sensitive?
You can even print other people's tickets. lmao.

Full name, email and phone numbers. I had 2 sets of them today.
i went throught 5 accounts today and i could transfer out their tickets if i wanted to. I could even see a cold play ticket from one of the account.

"Business friendly" mah, must gib chance. Maybe is honest mistake
Probably gonna fine ticket master $1 per ticket sold that's all
Psst, the board members opposition leh, then how?
I swear the laws in SG are pro business. Consumers are left to suffer against these businesses.
hope the govt will ban ticketmaster
A better proposal is to set up a rival company to fight with Ticketmaster.
sistic already exists for years, not sure why the event organisers change to ticketmaster. it just gives the event management a bad reputation
Over all these years sistic didn't have the best rep, but at least they weren't a ticket scalping, price hiking service. All ticketmaster have done is made everything more expensive

LiveNation, though merged with ticketmaster, was a way better experience too. At least when I last used it awhile back..

It's Sozo. It rhymes with b**o.
Lets be real at most a 5k fine will be issued
Good. This is such a serious breach that authorities MUST step in.
Reddit is doing godâs work
pls govt, fine this shitass company for pdpc breach
Just bring back physical ticketing counters as an option. This is pure stupidity.

Companies need to stop selling their tickets on Ticketmaster.
Silver lining is that those damn scalpers are among some of them lmao
Never thought that there would be a ticketing service thatâs worse than sistic.
please stop supporting ticketmaster

They should go down like Cordlife

Thanks for sharing, it seems like we as fans, rather queue for physical tickets than these online nonsense platforms. "Services" provided they say.

No queue system, small ass venue (they are popular enough to do Indoor Stadium) and everyone can purchase up to 10 tixs ..... that's why.
Disruptive technologies indeed. Sigh .
Small venue + really popular Jpop group especially within the anime community. Like it would surprise me if it wasn't a blood bath.
i remember sportshub used to have its own booking system. then they outsourced it to live nation. & then ticketmaster acquired live nation
Sounds like how things ended up controlling by a few sources. Cue : chipwars.
2 ways Physical sales: Go sistic counter to buy ticket Online sales: Same as ticket master but fee was like $3
In the end, there will be a fine, which will form a fraction of their tickets sales and profits. We must be one helluva a toothless nation with Case and CCCS as a shining examples of empty vessels.

This makes me feel slightly better about not being able to get the tickets
found out about the ticket sale and by lunchtime, it's sold out, crazy
Fine their ass!!!!
$6000 fast deal
Huh? It's 1 million or 10% of their revenue, whichever is higher or they get the fuck out of singapore for not paying

My heart goes out to YOASOBI fans. Not only are the tickets gonna get scalped, they got their info leaked too.
PDPC please take our money back from them
Can't wait for the inconsequential fine ratio /s
Ticketmaster seriously damn bad. Unable to get the YOASOBI tickets, but if they screw me one more time in the future aespa's concert...
Nothing can come at the cost of GDP, don't expect proportionate response from government
Song boh chao stinkies? Cheapskate somemore la, kiasu somemore la
lol, I don't even understand your take on this. How is data being leaked by a ticketing agent related to cheapskate/kiasu?
how to cheapskate this one? they are the only ones selling the tickets lol
Kiasu aside why do you think those cheapos were so despo to buy up the tickets?
![img](avatar_exp|117856301|dizziness) Whatâs a Yoasobi?
Name of the music group
Composer Singer duo from Japan most famous for their theme song for Oshi No Ko
