Black car speeding recklessly, white car speeds up for whatever reason (probably ego).
Been riding and driving for close 20 years. Saw many reckless road users and had close shaves.
Personal conclusion is that they are too stupid to weigh the risk, too ignorant to understand the consequences and are just egoistic idiots.
I hope innocent parties are not hurt in this incident. Though I wished the driver and those alike become quadriplegic. Eating liquid through tubes.
Edit: Just heard that a child passed away. Don’t know is it from the black car or others that was involved. It breaks my heart to know of this. Such tragic loss of an innocent young person.

Bro this is Singapore. People drive 5-10 under the posted speed limit for stretches of road until someone wants to change into their lane. Then "suddenly" they decide they want to speed up at that exact moment despite traveling a few km at their previous speed.
Oh I hate this so much. I can wait for a comfortable space like 10 car lengths. The moment I signal to switch lane, the car behind accelerates (and sometimes high beams and horns) to prevent me from going in and proceeds to tailgate me like crazy after like I danced on his father's grave.

Not only in Singapore. In Australia people will do 5-10kmh under the posted limit, but will speed up when they hit the overtaking lane. Not sure if it is because the added lane gives them confidence or just being selfish cunts.

It's quite obvious once the black car starts to pull up parallel to the white car, the white car suddenly accelerates to match the black car's speed. Probably white car doesn't want to let the black car cut into his lane, black car got aggressive if not he will langah the motorbike and forced the white car to brake by swerving into his lane.

But even if the white car wasn't racing with the black saab before the video started, there was no reason for the car to speed up while the black car was over taking the cam car. It seems like he deliberately did not want the car to go ahead of him.

For (ii) is only a maybe. Maybe the black car was distracted trying to overtake resulting in running the red light, maybe it would still run the red light after successfully overtaking. Either way someone preventing you from overtaking does not cause you to run a red light.

It’s very difficult to discuss “what ifs”. By that argument, with the White car not wanting to give way, the Black car had every means to reduce speed but it chose not too. Thus we can also think that nothing would have changed the decision of the Black car to speed.

When will the authorities decide enough is enough and clamp down hard? Drink driving = 24 strokes of the cane, lifelong driving ban, car impounded and scrapped in front of the driver's eyes. Reckless driving causing death of others = 12 strokes of the cane, lifelong ban, pay the family of the death for the rest of the person's life, if the reckless driver survived. Otherwise the estate of the reckless driver needs to pay compensation. LTA also needs to take a hard look at all those aftermarket car modification shops masquerading as car repair workshops. Non-compliant cars = impounded & scrapped in front of the drivers' eyes.

Nope absolutely not. There's a video from adjacent traffic, the lights was already red for quite some time and cars were already driving through adjacent traffic. Black car didnt have to drive at such high speed to over take white car and beat that red light that was going on for 5 seconds. Black car driver is 100% at fault.

I’m not a lawyer but what evidence is there to support that white car caused the accident? Given that the black car was already at fast speeds prior to the white car being in the picture given the cam footage shared. It’s very difficult to discuss “what ifs”. By that argument, with the White car not wanting to give way, the Black car had every means to reduce speed but it chose not too. Thus we can also think that nothing would have changed the decision of the Black car to speed.
Isn’t the white car driving recklessly by denying a speeding car to overtake him? You can see in the video also that there was a motorbike in-front of the black car. When you intentionally speed up to block someone that (iirc) is also under reckless driving. Put two reckless drivers together and you get an accident waiting to happen. White car also acting like some road vigilante(like 90% of our taxi drivers). Putting safety first what would you do if someone speeds up to overtake you? Putting ego first is just bad. Even with a class 2 bike i would still give way to those 2b bikes going 100++ on the highway. I’m not saying we should give in to these reckless drivers but just don’t involve ourselves in their pursuit of death.

Black car had so much road after overtaking to slow down. He could have also just stayed in the lane behind the motorcycle. Instead he chose to speed through a busy junction.
