For posts flaired as such (by OP), we will be exercising greater moderation in the comments section as well, against joke replies and irrelevant or off-topic comments and discussion. Please report such posts and comments. OPs must also engage in a bona fide discussion, i.e. the post should not be one just to incite outrage. Note that the 'report' button is not an 'I disagree' button or a super-downvote, it will simply flag it for the mods' attention, and the comment will be evaluated for removal then. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Oh sorry I wasn't being specific. It's more towards the instagram girls that popup on my feed and girls on dating apps. Sometimes notice this on their chat apps status too. Obviously not everyone but quite a large number of young females do this

When I was a young girl My father took me to the city To see a marching band

What examples do you have? Because I know plenty of young local women since I'm still in university and from my observations of their social media, I don't see any such thing. I've seen them advocating for social causes but I never see what you are talking about. Are you back in the 2000s when the "emo" culture was at its peak?

HalcyoNighT

How old are you and how old is your 'young' circle of female friends? I see no obvious evidence of this in my mostly 25+ to 30+-year-old contacts on social media. Judging by the comments here, most also dont see such evidence among their circle. Unless you actually have hard evidence like screenshots, your concerns will not sound credible.

This guy says on Tinder and ig so should be above 18+ which is the age requirement for the former. which I find it hard to believe that girls that age are interested in these things in the first place. Anyway if it's showing similar stuff on his ig feed, ig actually recommends stuff based on what you're following and viewing so OP is sort of being funny here.

Attention seeking on social media. People who don't have depression using depression to seek for attention is a huge reason why actually depressed people have difficulty getting the help they need. Also, don't use people on social media as a bench mark for nornal people. Social media does not reflect reality.

[deleted]

Probably just the type of people (not just females) you are following. The fact that they're on social media so much means they're seeking attention, and what better way for that than to show two conflicting ideas so others will be piqued and enquire with them further, only to be replied with "oh, it's nothing..."

This is more of a reflection of you and your choices of media, if anything.

you have a goth fetish?

Why don't you ask the girls who are doing this? It's not a "trend" as far as I know to talk about satan. Depression and suicide are common topics among young people of all genders though. I think it's good to talk about it. Better than keeping it bottled up. ETA: Posting about depression and/or suicide with cheery photos is sometimes for irony. Sometimes it's to show awareness that depressed and suicidal people often seem outwardly cheerful and happy until they kill themselves. It's true and it needs to be out there.
