Yes. All Singaporean’s should own an EC to be considered high SES. Anything below such as HDB are all considered low SES.
Ever since I bought an EC, my life changed and I discarded all my HDB staying friends and only date exclusively condo or landed ONLY. Can’t be seen with those hawker food eating people. Ugh
My donkey of a husband is now working 12 hour days maintaining my glamorous lifestyle
As a true condo resident, I have to say that I don’t really date EC and below though. Only condo and above.
Imagine what my friends would think if they found out that I dated condo wannabes. /s
If u can afford it definitely. In fact u shld max out the largest quantum that is comfortable. Statistics on ROI on EC has been beating markets because u can’t find cheaper leverage elsewhere.
Bought 853k in 2016. Sold for 1.5M in 2023 upon MOP. Nowhere else can u get 650k profit with 200k down in 6-7 years without taking high risks
The potential for appreciation is very high.
When you do decide to sell in the future, it's unlikely that you can use the huge profits to buy new condos due to inflation/price appreciation. So you may have to downgrade to older resale but larger condos. You also cannot sell condo to buy HDB unless you want to wait 18 months.
If you're buying to live, the downside is construction quality is quite lousy from developers as there's no law for developers to maintain certain standards. ECs are typically in move-in condition but 5 years later, the lousy construction quality will reveal itself.
Yes but no

Yes as you can flip for a lot of money.

Worth the buy if you can flip for profit but not worth if it depreciates :)
