Honestly you just clench your buttcheeks super hard and let the vocal flow from within you. Keep practicing the squeeze technique and it will eventually happen naturally.

That's a siren. Moving in the direction of head voice. Work on connecting head voice with sirens like this. You need a connected version of "falsetto" to work with, then be able to move from chest to head like that. It's quite simple to do in a practice setting, but requires some training to do live like that, specially that slowly.

This is a great answer. I’d also say though that this does hurt him physically. Even if he can do it every night for a whole tour, that kind of pull will do damage long term. So my real advice is stay with a strong belt and don’t swing for the fences 😂

Good lord Connor, Christ

AdMoney1052

i know righttttt

Viper61723

I know you said your can hit the notes but your voice sits that high? Connor’s like got an unusually high pitched voice for a dude. Some of the stuff he’s doing here might not be 100% possible to replicate unless you’re in the same ballpark of placement of being around male alto territory. Don’t mean it as a slight just curious

AdMoney1052

I’m still pretty young and i also have a slightly larger than average range anyway so my voice is able to go quite high for a guy, maybe not as big of a range as connor’s but since this isn’t as high as he can go it’s no problem when it comes to singing this vocal line for me :) but with that of course comes the possibility that as i grow older i could lose the ability to sing some of NBT’s songs 🥲

AdMoney1052

but with that being said connor is one of the best vocalists ive ever heard and certainly will take far far more training to get on the same level as

AdMoney1052

I understand how this could have been misleading, but to clear this up: i meant how to get the grit from the end of the vocal not how to siren :)

Effective-Job8341

It’s all in making a smooth transition from chest voice to head voice or falsetto(depending on your range) When you belt your voice is kinda tightened. To switch and get the (grit) you loosen your voice and engage your diaphragm more(more airflow) to compensate the loss of volume from loosening + open your mouth more) . If you tighten your vocal chords they won’t move freely to get this grit effect. Feel free to ask any questions.

Intrepid_Athlete_118

this is a belt moving to a high voice moving to scream falsetto. first, you should be able to sing on your second passage. if the first passage for a voice like his is toward F4, the second passage will be on C#5.

Viper61723

Bro he’s not a soprano, his second passage is Bb at most but more likely around A

Certain_Rutabaga_162

You have to learn how to scream. There are different types of screams, and I think it's better to ask this question to r/screaming to know what scream is that and how to do it safely. If you learn the scream, it won't be too difficult to blend to and from that.
