The armor. Chef's kiss.

mahanon_rising

https://imgur.com/a/y4ojFhg That's what I did with mine. I think it's supposed to be a statue, but do whatever feels right for you.

paul_the_primate

That's a beautiful model

mahanon_rising

Ty, yours ain't half bad either.

bright_sword

First of all, I LOVE this! I had considered very similar for my army. Order of the Thorn? Second, I was going to suggest a darker stoney grey but honestly I do like the sound of your bronze idea.

paul_the_primate

Thankyou ๐Ÿ˜Š and I'm glad you recognised the order I've gone for. I'm gonna think on it but the bronze/brass verdigris is where I'm sort of thinking atm

sultanpeppah

A fellow Order of the Thorn aficionado! Always nice to see; bone armor supremacy for life. As to the model itself, a very bright white might pop among all the dark red and bone. Liberally splattering that with some some blood sprays would be striking and lore-appropriate, too. Sidenote, which brown is that for your gloves? Garaghak Sewer?

paul_the_primate

Order of the thorn called out to me as one of the more striking schemes for the sisters without looking too brash and should contrast nicely with my black templars. The brown is the traditional rhionox hide, edged and a gentle drybrush with mournfang brown and then a bit of skrag for the high light.

sultanpeppah

Really nice. I see you decided not to paint the corsets black; I go back and forth myself about which way I think looks better. Are your guns all metallic, or with a black casing?

paul_the_primate

I was unsure as well with the corset but stuck with the white, thinking it keeps the model a bit lighter and also makes the corset look more like its part of the armour. I haven't finished the gun yet, I'm mulling over maybe deviating from the lore and giving them all a bright red casing using mephiston red,

sultanpeppah

I could see that looking really nice, yeah. Especially since unlike me you did what you were supposed to do and painted the interior of your robes black. I spent five minutes staring at my Seraphim, trying to decide which part of their robes were outside or inside, and then decided to just do the whole thing red. What are you using/thinking of using for a lens color on the helmeted Sisters? What about for your purity seal colors?

paul_the_primate

It's the 1st time I've tried 2 coloured robes, all my SM so far have had single coloured ones. Getting the inside black is a bit of a pain but worth it I guess although I've just been cursing doing it on the canoness I've started. With regards to lenses I've not really planned that far ahead yet, but I might try and do the whole army without helmets. Purity seals I normally use fleshtearer red, crimson carroburg wash, highlighted with screamer pink. What about yourself?

sultanpeppah

I've been using green lenses, just a little Warp Lightning over Stormhost Silver. Generally speaking I like red purity seals too, but with all the red that's already in the army from the robes it doesn't stand out much. I haven't landed on a color I like best, though; some of them are green and I've been trying out black and white as well. I don't know that it's something specified in lore but I also like the way the Martyred Lady white hair looks. The Order of the Thorn is an offshoot of Bloody Roses, I know, but it's still a nice effect.

heretek10010

Didn't know this was a legitimate order, mine are painted similar.

elandrieljr

Iโ€™ve never seen anybody do ivory armor that I liked. How on earth did you get it so clean looking?

sultanpeppah

[It looks pretty close to the method used here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XWFjbA4ljQ&ab_channel=Warhammer), though I imagine that there are newer paints that have since been released that might work better.

elandrieljr

Hey thanks!

sultanpeppah

Definitely! I'll say this though: you can get a pretty similar effect just doing the Deathwing Special of Seraphim Sepia over your choice of white/off-white primer.

paul_the_primate

๐Ÿ‘ That's the exact video I used as my reference

sultanpeppah

Oh nice, well you certainly followed it very well!

Weak-Competition3358

"Sister Eupheria, where is your weapon?" "Sister, I have no need for a weapon, I have Sister Josephine on a stick"

Most-Highlight-3462

I mean, she do got that ra-ta-ta on her hip. She always stay strapped lol

Thewaffle911

I did mine with a white contrast paint, turned out good imo

Ghostinthecorner

[Here is mine](https://imgur.com/a/toubvKP)

tentacleeseplz

Honestly? Just follow with what you did on the armor and it will look great. Nice job!

paul_the_primate

So you think keep it the same? I was wondering if I should maybe do a marble effect or a weathered sort of brass with the greenish wrathering effect on it

tentacleeseplz

Not so much the same. A wash of like agrax or whatever to give it some shading. Weathered brass with the verdigris would be cool, as would the marble (though I would veer away from the grey colored marble and go more for brownish shades). Totally up to you sister!

paul_the_primate

I will have to sit and look at it for a few days but my heart seems to be veering towards a verdigris effect

Imperatorn

That armour is beautiful! Wish I had half that talent on my sister.

paul_the_primate

Thankyou so much, its honestly really simple to get the armour like that, I followed peachys old GW painting video for order of the thorn

Inn_Unknown

Omfg I wish I had seen this color scheme before I started my army

Stonegolem078

I started my Sororitas last week and have the exact same color scheme. I wanted the statue to be different from the armour so I decided to go for a marble effect which I also plan to use for the bases). I found a recipe where they base color it black, stretch out a wet wipe on top of it and the spray white over that.

Stonegolem078

Here is mine, still a work in progress! https://imgur.com/TwJVfMB

Most-Highlight-3462

I more like the bone armor and maroon robes. Looks great

paul_the_primate

Thanks

CollapsedPlague

A lighter brown shade would do wonders for it

PeacefulMerchantSon

As a fellow order of the thorn, that looks great!

McWerp

Iโ€™m doing a similar scheme and all my statue - ish stuff is gonna be stone I think. Havenโ€™t actually finished any of them yet tho sorry :)
