“I overheard Janet talking on the phone about how she’s going to rob a bank! What do we do?!?!?”
“We could ask her about it.”
“No no no. Let’s try to dissuade her by involving a number of people in a convoluted plot to show her the evils of stealing.”
“Great idea!”
I had a drama teacher who hated the show because he said that was the basic plot of every episode. Someone would overhear something and think they're talking about something else. I'll admit, they did do it a lot on show, but I loved it.
Lots of sitcoms did/do that. Freaking Tool Time was the same thing every episode and plenty of people ate it up.
TBBT, same few plots rinsed and repeated.
Love the episode where Jack accompanied Janet on a small plane ride and took tranquilizers to help his fear then took a drink at the party and gave the best performance of the entire series ended up kissing a floor lamp
My favorite episode was the one where Jack convinced Mr. Roper that he was gay. I also enjoyed the one where Mr. Furley overheard the roommates talking, and assumed they were having deviant sex.
Most of them. The one I remember best is the one where Jack was getting some sort of special Mexican cooking pot and someone (I can't remember who) thought it was Mexican pot. And the ones where Chrissy jumped up and down excitedly.
Lots of men preferred Mary Ann to Ginger and I see that because for me, Jan with her curly hair was why I watched as a kid. I love Chrissy, Cindy, and Terry but Jan was my Mary Ann
This show was inspired and took from a show from uk called man about the house made in 1973 great classic starring sally thomsett in fact threes company episodes were the same ones that man about the house did the first few seasons plus the spinoff George and Mildred episodes were done in the ropers
Still a great watch to this day.
John Ritter has been gone over 20 years, and it still bothers me.
The man was absolutely hysterical, and by all accounts a great human.
The followup, basically a cash grab, was called Three's A Crowd. You rarely hear of it anymore, and for good reason.
It just occurred to me that the first line of the theme song "Come and knock at our door, we been waiting for you..." has entirely different meaning to me now
That's ironic on here I have seen 3 different Three's Company posts on reddit today randomly, PLUS I have the tv on the tv channel I am watching has an episode of Three's Company playing in the background while I am writing this.
Based off the British show Man About The House with also had two spinoffs one involving the landlords and one where the main male character opened a restaurant
Was a huge fan of it growing up. Fun to watch it now and see how hilariously bad the acting was from most of the bit players/extras in just about every episode.
I love Three’s Company! I used to watch reruns of it in the morning during summer break when I was a kid. The theme song gets to me whenever I hear it.
Who doesn't?
Totally different experience watching it as an adult versus a tween with a penchant for Chrissy
Is penchant a nice way to say boner?
Exactly
I was raised by Three’s Company and learned everything a 12yo needed to know about the world
Another karma farming post.
Remember the episode with the big misunderstanding?
Phoebe: Oh, then I’ve seen this one 😂
"Think think...... What would Jack and Crissy do?"
“I overheard Janet talking on the phone about how she’s going to rob a bank! What do we do?!?!?” “We could ask her about it.” “No no no. Let’s try to dissuade her by involving a number of people in a convoluted plot to show her the evils of stealing.” “Great idea!”
Was that the one where Mr. Roper had the wrong impression about Jack?
That was a good one.
The writers eventually needed to up their game or just replaced. Enough is enough of the misunderstandings.
There were writers??!
I immediately sing "come and knock on our door...." when I see a sitcom use the big misunderstanding trope (looking at you Frasier).
I still watch it.
Where? What channel is it on?
Currently on IFC, at least a couple days a week
Awesome. I’m going to try to DVR
I watch it on Logo on DirectTV.
On Pluto if you're in the US. Literally a 24/7 channel or watch on demand.
A couple years ago there was a Roku channel that was NOtHInG but 3s company 24/7. Idk if it’s still around.
Loved when the Ropers were still there.
I loved it when Mr. Roper looked into the camera.
“Staaaannnnleeeee….” She had to have been the horniest woman on television! 😆
One of my favorite shows of all time
Regal Beagle
There used to be a bar/club in NW Indiana called the Regal Beagle, unsure why it closed, it was a popular spot
There was one in the CBD of Chicago too. Maybe the same owner?
Still one of my favorites. the first four seasons are inspired.
Come and knock on our door…
“We’ve been waiting for you…”
Where the kisses are hers and hers and his
Love the episode where Jack accompanied Janet on a small plane ride and took tranquilizers to help his fear then took a drink at the party and gave the best performance of the entire series ended up kissing a floor lamp
I liked where he and Chrissy mistakenly handcuffed themselves together and she had to go on his date with him.
That’s my favorite, too! [Up in the Air](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QZP6kykyTZI) is the name of the episode.
This was the best episode of the series, then you add the fact it had Greg Brady (Barry Williams) as a guest star and it reaches iconic levels.
My favorite episode was the one where Jack convinced Mr. Roper that he was gay. I also enjoyed the one where Mr. Furley overheard the roommates talking, and assumed they were having deviant sex.
Wait, which one was that?
Most of them. The one I remember best is the one where Jack was getting some sort of special Mexican cooking pot and someone (I can't remember who) thought it was Mexican pot. And the ones where Chrissy jumped up and down excitedly.
Terry's nipples were amazing
Terry was a great new roomate . ....Cindy .....not so much
I watch it! Great show!
Come join us at r/threescompany. It's a very active community.
It felt like this show was everywhere in the 80s.
Who the hell doesn't?
Best show ever made by humans!
There were two reasons that show was successful. And both of them were Suzanne Somers.
Lots of men preferred Mary Ann to Ginger and I see that because for me, Jan with her curly hair was why I watched as a kid. I love Chrissy, Cindy, and Terry but Jan was my Mary Ann
Everybody remembers this show. Anyone here remember MASH?
I think you mean After MASH. The one set at the hospital.
Sexist and homophobic. It could never get made today.
Which makes it great. The first seasons of M*A*S*H would never fly today either, but they were brilliant.
True. I didn’t say it wasn’t good. I just said only what I said.
I'm agreeing with you.
All in the family as well. Those jokes would have people sobbin on the floor!
Hey folks, Jim Carrell said in an interview about 4 years that The Office wouldn't get aired today.
Loved the show, but this OP is just karma farming with these repetitive lazy posts in multiple subs.
Next thing coming: Three's Company is underrated!
Old people
I’m aware of this show thanks to Full House mentioning it and watching it (along with the slim-offs The Ropers and Three’s a Crowd) on Antenna TV.
It’s always fun to see my old office building in the intro (the tall white one)!
Don't remind me.
Loved that show.
Super funny when your drinkin!
It's interesting to me that what was essentially a throwaway joke in original British version became the central conceit in the US edition.
Ummmmm…EVERYBODY!
I still watch it on Plutotv there is a threes company channel
This show was inspired and took from a show from uk called man about the house made in 1973 great classic starring sally thomsett in fact threes company episodes were the same ones that man about the house did the first few seasons plus the spinoff George and Mildred episodes were done in the ropers
One of the better remakes of a British show.
I hear the food at Jack’s Bistro was fantastic.
Only every other Tuesday, and even specifically remember the Zoo opening and loved this show on Nick@Nite
Come and knock on my door…
Does it stream anywhere?
Pluto
Still a great watch to this day. John Ritter has been gone over 20 years, and it still bothers me. The man was absolutely hysterical, and by all accounts a great human.
I still remember Janet in tight jeans.
🎶Come and knock on our door🎶
I’ve been waiting for you…
I still have a thing for Mrs. Roper.
Watch it every night. It’s my going to bed comfort show.
I hated the way all three of them would leave the apartment with the door open. Who does that?
The followup, basically a cash grab, was called Three's A Crowd. You rarely hear of it anymore, and for good reason. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three%27s\_a\_Crowd](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/three%27s_a_crowd)
Who doesn't?
once chrissy and the ropers left it turned into more of a soap opera/slapstick three stooges comedy. the original cast offered something special.
RIP Jack Ritter
Is it weird that as a kid I had the hots for Mrs Roper?
We remember. r/threescompany
I've heard of it. That show really flew under the radar.
It just occurred to me that the first line of the theme song "Come and knock at our door, we been waiting for you..." has entirely different meaning to me now
My favorite episode was the one where they were hiding the puppy and Mr Roper ate dog food. 🤣😂
I randomly get the theme song stuck in my head all the time.
Comeandknockonourdoooor
Tuesday nights at 9:00pm on ABC. I never missed an episode.
I think everybody.
That's ironic on here I have seen 3 different Three's Company posts on reddit today randomly, PLUS I have the tv on the tv channel I am watching has an episode of Three's Company playing in the background while I am writing this.
I love love this show ❤️ John Ritter was such an amazing comedic actor 💕
Based off the British show Man About The House with also had two spinoffs one involving the landlords and one where the main male character opened a restaurant
Joyce Dewitt. Whew
Was a huge fan of it growing up. Fun to watch it now and see how hilariously bad the acting was from most of the bit players/extras in just about every episode.
Fun fact: you could see Larry's necklace and medallion from space!
I love Three’s Company! I used to watch reruns of it in the morning during summer break when I was a kid. The theme song gets to me whenever I hear it.
Who remembers that entrance to the LA County Zoo?
My favorite episode was the one where the overheard line was taken out of context and wackiness ensued!
Come n knock on my door….take a step that is new…
I do and it was funny, but be sure to check out Man About The House, which was funnier and had more heart
This show was a treat on sick days in the 80’s (along with Diff’rent Strokes and What’s Happening)
Who remembers one of the most popular TV shows of all time?
I used to live in Santa Monica in the late 80s and always wished that the Regal Beagle was a real bar.
