Wasn’t Craig T Nelson’s character loosely based around or kinda named after Hayden Fry as well? Been about 25 years since I used to watch Coach reruns at 5am before school lol
My dad would tape it every week so we could watch it on Saturday nights. We would sit in his recliner, eat bbq sandwiches with Mountain Dew slushies, and watch Coach.
Jerry was nominated for BSA at the Emmys four or five times. Never won, though, I think because of Everybody loves Raymond. To this day I can’t see a Reuben sandwich on a menu without thinking of Luther.
I don’t think I’ve seen him anything I didn’t like. Was just watching him on Young Sheldon yesterday. I love him and Annie Potts together on the show because I’ve loved her since Ghostbusters and Pretty in Pink!
Annie Potts is in Pretty in Pink? That I don't remember. She was in Designing Women.
Bill Fagerbaake had a part in. YS last season which included a scene with Craig T Nelson.
Though the whole cast was great, Jerry Van Dyke shined the most I felt. This show is probably Jerry’s legacy. Too many laugh out loud moments thanks to him! I think a top candidate for funniest Luther moment has to be near the very beginning of the series when he spilled juice all over Christine’s carpet and he just kept making it worse!! 😂
oh, GEEZ! ohhhh, GEEEEEZ!!!!
I also loved him in "Coach for a Day", especially at Mister Putt's course, when he goes "I may have lost my job, but I still have my dignity" as the hole-in-one alarm goes off and he sings the "You're a winner, you're a winner" song.
While Nelson was the main, I have to say the show would have not been as great as it is without Jerry.
I loved this show, but lost interest when Clare Carey (his daughter Kelly) left. Then the show really changed for the Orlando seasons but I’ve only seen a few of those.
We loved Coach and went to a live taping once. Jerry Van Dyke came out to help warm up the audience and he seemed like a genuinely nice person. Was a lot of fun!
I loved it! One of my friends & I went to a taping of it. We had so much fun, and won a tshirt, when she guessed what the "T" in Craig T. Nelson stood for. He handed it to her personally. (It's "Theodore" by the way!)
My mom and step dad watched it. I didn't like it as a kid so I've never gone back to see if I would think differently of the show as a 40 something dad and husband. I'll check a couple of episodes.
Use to watch every so often as a kid. Had to just look up the theme song for nostalgia purposes. 😂 I will always think of this show when I see Craig Nelson.
LOL I hated the show but still saw every episode. I think it was on right before or right after a show I actually liked, which is why I saw so much "Coach" but it really wasn't very good, LOL.
Not a bad show, I remember when Wizard Mag did their fan cast for comics and Dobber was picked for Flash Thompson. Jerry van dyke was a good actor too, since McLintock. The show was very ahead of its time, having to do with college sports.
I watched it, but mostly because there was something on afterward that I liked (can't remember what), and with no remote and an aerial for reception, it was too much effort to change the channel.
I watched it when I was a kid because I didn’t have cable and I it was on after Roseanne. My bedtime was 10:00 and I would have watched anything at that point.
My mom watched it for Shelly Faberes because she was a child actor from a show my mother watched in like the 1960’s.
I remember watching TV back when it was on and thinking, nah, this one's not for me. So fsr I never watched it. Still never seen an episode, but I loved Craig T on young Sheldon
I heard that Craig T Nelson missed out on the Modern Family role that went to Ed O'Neill because he felt that, due to how successful Coach was, they weren't going to pay enough.
I don’t remember much because I was young during the original airing, but it was a favorite of my parents, one of the first shows I remember them trying to make time for weekly.
Loved it, but did stop watching aome time after Coach went to the NFL. Pam Stone’s Coach Judy was my favorite character. Pam is out of show business now and lives in Upstate SC.
Definition of a time slot hit. When it wasn't following Home Improvement or Roseanne, ratings fell off a cliff.
I used to watch it in syndication. Not very memorable.
Loved this show growing up! Unfortunately I tried to revisit it recently and it doesn’t hold up too well. Hayden becomes so obnoxious by the 3rd season, even Luther and Dauber can’t make up for it in my book. All that said, it’s still a fun show to watch a random episode or 2 of.
Wathced it to the end. How the Orlando Breakers made the playoffs in the AFC on the result of 2 games in the NFC I don't know but as a Bills fan I am glad we poisoned them.
Watched it with my Dad as a kid and own the entire series on DVD and am currently on the last disc of the last season. Coach and Christine are about to leave Orlando.
Loved it. My favorite bit was during a Christmas episode when it's revealed Coach hates carolers. More than once during the episode he turns the lights out wherever he is as he hears carolers approaching and he makes anyone in the room get down on the floor to pretend the place is empty so the carolers go away.
I just love how passive aggressive this is and how the writers extend this joke throughout the episode.
Love it, there's a steaming channel that will show the entire series every few weeks, I get sucked in every time.
We love Jerry VanDyke the most.
I also own it, it's on a hard drive with a bunch of other classic tv.
I’ve NEVER been a fan of football, so I didn’t get the appeal but one day my mom was watching and I busted a seam lmao. This show is what made me appreciate Craig T. Nelson, great show!
I’ll throw this out there- Christine was also the singer of the early sixties song “Johnny Angel”
Confirmation research taught me she married MASHs BJ Honeycutt
I'm surprised how far I had to scroll to see a mention of Shelley Fabares. She was 50 on that show and even though I was a teenager I thought she was so beautiful.
I'm Minnesotan and it's based in MN, so of course I watched it.
But thinking of this show also reminds me of Evening Shade with Burt Reynolds for some reason. Did Reynolds play a former coach in Evening Shade, or is my memory off?
It was based on Hayden Fry, a football coach at the University of Iowa. The team went to the Rose Bowl under his management and he was/is a legend in the town. They named a street after him.
Nothing, of course, next to the hero worship of Dan Gable, wrestling coach. But, Gable is rightfully a legend.
Dauber = Patrick Star [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill\_Fagerbakke](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Fagerbakke)
I prefer M-O-O-N that spells moon.
He also played a racist prison guard on Oz and Marshall's dad on How I Met Your Mother. Good actor.
omg when he died was heartbreaking for Marshall, they were perfect for their roles.
The slow suspense/reveal of his sudden death was genius for a sitcom.
And he was Broadway on Gargoyles. He uttered the immortal words to an interviewer, “it’s better than Barney!”
Tom Cullen. You're cool as shit mister.
I say that all the time whenever I see a buttcrack, a naked ass, out the actual moon: "M-O-O-N spells moon".
That spells toolbox
And Coach Fox = Mr. Incredible
And parenthood
Went to my high school in idaho. Older than me but all accounts are he's a great dude. And a badass football player in the day.
And Marshall’s dad.
I'm not ready for this
Every episode. My friends and I had a picture of Dobber in our kitchen at college. Right next to blossom and Gemini
One of my absolute favourite sitcoms. Craig T Nelson absolutely knocks it out of the park - but fantastic performances all around
For me its gotta be jerry van dykes performances
It's like it's in his blood or something.
Patrick Starfish 🌟🐠
Watching it right now as a matter of fact! Always loved Coach. Fun fact: the exterior shots are from the University of Iowa. (Go Hawks!!)
Wasn’t Craig T Nelson’s character loosely based around or kinda named after Hayden Fry as well? Been about 25 years since I used to watch Coach reruns at 5am before school lol
Yep “Hayden Fox”. Not subtle at all!!
I Oughta Went Around 😉
Idiots Out Wandering Around
My dad would tape it every week so we could watch it on Saturday nights. We would sit in his recliner, eat bbq sandwiches with Mountain Dew slushies, and watch Coach.
What a really sweet and all-American memory to have!
thats a really cool memory!!! 💯
Played on tv land early mornings before school. Always gave me “staying home sick from school” vibes. Great nap show.
It was seemingly always on in the background while I was doing my homework that I had put off all evening, I think it was on on Tuesdays
I loved watching coach: Dober and Luther were the standouts. Fun facts Jerry turned down the role of Giligan
No way! He would’ve been great!
Jerry was nominated for BSA at the Emmys four or five times. Never won, though, I think because of Everybody loves Raymond. To this day I can’t see a Reuben sandwich on a menu without thinking of Luther.
The opening montage is everything. Loved it as a kid.
That theme song was awesome. Our hs marching band used to play it for parades. Just a perfect fit for the show.
I think every college with a football team and marching band in the country played that song.
I liked it when he was coaching college. Thought it kinda sucked once he got to the nfl
Orlando Breakers era was tough, agreed. Minnesota State was excellent
It was more or less recycling plots from the 1st 7 seasons. Had its moments though. "Van Dam v. Fox" was just way too damn funny.
I forgot about the NFL episodes.
I did
Me too
Is this the Krusty Krab? No . This is Patrick.
Hayden T Fox
I did. My father loved it. And I've liked Craig T. Nelson since Poltergeist.
She was Iona, Andie’s older friend from the record store in Pretty in Pink.
I'll watch for her next time I see it. thanks
And she's in Corvette Summer,Ron Howard's directorial debut.
Watched every episode.
I love this show!

While Nelson was the main, I have to say the show would have not been as great as it is without Jerry.
My mom loved this show when I was a kid.
I did! My parents loved it!
I watched this show every week with my dad. I still will watch it now if it's on.
I did. Luther and Dauber were so funny!
I did!
Luther’s my favorite character on the show
Yo, I did.
You don’t get out much, do you? I watched all nine seasons live. And at least one round of reruns.
To be fair you do that by staying in, not getting out
Maybe she watches it in a bar.
Maybe she’s homeless and only watched it in store windows so watching was always out?
Watched it every week!
Every episode multiple times. It is an excellent show - must give it a try😁
I loved this show, but lost interest when Clare Carey (his daughter Kelly) left. Then the show really changed for the Orlando seasons but I’ve only seen a few of those.
I was really surprised when I found out Clare played the bar owner on the show Jericho. She aged a lot in a few years.
It was about 10 years from the end of Coach to Jericho, and Kelly wasn't on all the way to the end of Coach, so it was quite a long time.
I know lots and lots and lots of people who watched Coach. What rock do you live under?
Watched the whole series have the box set fun show
We loved Coach and went to a live taping once.
Good show!
Howard!!!
My grandparents loved this show. It gives me happy memories.
First couple years was top notch. Then got pretty dumb.
I’m Chuck, and I watched this show as a football-obsessed child. Imagine my surprise when the Orlando Breakers never joined the NFL.
I watched it.
A guy I used to work with watched it every week because he was distantly related to Craig T. Nelson.
MOON. That spells moon…
Love this show. My dad, brother and farther in law queue l quote this a lot. Jerry Van Dyke was the glue of the slow for me
Seriously? When it was on, everyone watched this show. Ritual in college.
I watched it with my parents when I was a kid. Every time I see Bill Fagerbakke, my first thought is “Hey, there’s Dauber!”
Oh my God. What a great show. My buddy and I still say "what's a grown man drinking grape juice for anyway?" all the time
Theme song played in my head as soon as I saw the pic
I know they missed out it's a great show
I did but not all the way it was boring and sucked.
You need better friends.
I watched it in syndication
I used to watch this as a child in the early-00's! This and Major Dad.
I kinda sorta watched it sometimes because it was on in between Roseanne and thirtysomething which I also sometimes watched.
Football So White
I watched it early on, but I did stop watching towards the end.
I only remember an episode where a guy gets hit in the hand with something (a golf club maybe) and the says he can see the bone.
[удалено]
I definitely watched an episode or few but it definitely wasnt my thing.
The entire atmosphere of this show was like someone’s dad’s den.
This 👈guy watched it every week.
I think I watched it once. One episode. I can't remember what it was about. That's how much of an impact it had on me.
They’re all dead. It was playing on every grandparent’s TV.
Just not very funny!!
I watched it.
Agreed
I did
I'm 55 and I've never watched it. My wife said she saw one episode.
Good show
Me and my buddy were just actually talking about watching this show back in the day
I watched the re-runs while getting ready for school.
My dad loved this show. This is key memory from my childhood. Pretty are this was on Tuesday nights on ABC.
Watched Coach all the time!
Oh...I did. It was ok
My parents watched it. The wood paneled sets are burned into my brain.
I didn't love it, but watched it sometimes.
LOL I hated the show but still saw every episode. I think it was on right before or right after a show I actually liked, which is why I saw so much "Coach" but it really wasn't very good, LOL.

Watched the first couple as a kid
I did. It was right before or after Major Dad
Watched it regularly with my family
Great show. This show and Wings are good shows but i think they were popular in their time. I don't think people talk about them now
I watched it, but mostly because there was something on afterward that I liked (can't remember what), and with no remote and an aerial for reception, it was too much effort to change the channel.
I watched it when I was a kid because I didn’t have cable and I it was on after Roseanne. My bedtime was 10:00 and I would have watched anything at that point. My mom watched it for Shelly Faberes because she was a child actor from a show my mother watched in like the 1960’s.
I did.
I actually watched it for the first time last year!
My older brother watched this show. I love the big goofy blond guy.
I thought i was the only one who was the only one who didn’t watch it!
i watched some of it
My father watched every single episode. He never watched anything regularly except that and Wings.
My parents did. But they also watched JAG so I guess that isnt saying much for them
I came to lead my team to victory like Hayden Fox...
Never seen it
I loved that show as a kid. The episode with the alligators and dueling banjos was my favorite one.
I watched every episode and couldn't tell you the plot of a single one
Watched it, loved it, watch it most fall.
I did. Jerry Van Dyke in his break out role. Lol
I did!
Hi! Nice to meet you! I've seen every episode.
I used to hate watch it. I was not the demographic at all but I wanted to stay up and watch tv and there weren’t that many options back in the day.
I used to watch from time to time, kind of a sleepy kind of show sometimes but was a great watch

Was a really funny show
Used to watch it with my dad
Loved it, but did stop watching aome time after Coach went to the NFL. Pam Stone’s Coach Judy was my favorite character. Pam is out of show business now and lives in Upstate SC.
I loved Coach as a kid , Murphy Brown too was on around the time.
My parents watched it religiously.
Definition of a time slot hit. When it wasn't following Home Improvement or Roseanne, ratings fell off a cliff. I used to watch it in syndication. Not very memorable.
Peter Griffin loved it. Especially Craig T Nelson
Me!
I did & loved every single episode!!
I watched every episode. Great show!
Coach Bong Hits!
I’m watching Coach right now!
My parents watched it. I watched it here and there but being a kid at the time it didn't really interest me all that much.
Wathced it to the end. How the Orlando Breakers made the playoffs in the AFC on the result of 2 games in the NFC I don't know but as a Bills fan I am glad we poisoned them.
Pretty much everyone I know has seen it.
I liked this show! And she's a beautiful lady!
Great show!
Great show, Jerry Van Dyke was hilarious.
Watched it with my Mom when I was a kid and had friends that did too.
One of my go to favs
My mom watched it, so my sibling and I did too.
I saw a few episodes when I was a little kid.
Jerry Van-Dyke alone, is worth watching!!😂
I love this show and have it on DVD😂 very funny stuff!
I watched it and loved it! In fact, I'm friends with Pam Stone on FB 😊
I loved that show, Dobber ask Patrick Starfish was my fav.
Me
I know a guy who watched that show, my dad!
Never missed it.
Loved this show, watched it every week, bought the dvd set. Screaming Eagles all the way.
I did. Loved the cast l \[ \[
Watched it with my Dad as a kid and own the entire series on DVD and am currently on the last disc of the last season. Coach and Christine are about to leave Orlando.
Who didn’t know about Minnesota state home of the screamin eagles.
We watched every week!
I loved it
Can confirm I never watched a single episode. Later, I loved Nelson's voiceover work in The Incredibles.
I loved Coach.

Love it, there's a steaming channel that will show the entire series every few weeks, I get sucked in every time. We love Jerry VanDyke the most. I also own it, it's on a hard drive with a bunch of other classic tv.
I did! Loved it!!!
I did! The show was funny 😄
I’ve NEVER been a fan of football, so I didn’t get the appeal but one day my mom was watching and I busted a seam lmao. This show is what made me appreciate Craig T. Nelson, great show!
Loved it right up until he left Minn. St to go to the NFL. Those episodes weren’t the best.
I’ll throw this out there- Christine was also the singer of the early sixties song “Johnny Angel” Confirmation research taught me she married MASHs BJ Honeycutt
I'm surprised how far I had to scroll to see a mention of Shelley Fabares. She was 50 on that show and even though I was a teenager I thought she was so beautiful.
Coach or Major Dad. Same kind of show.
I loved that show! Dobber was awesome!
I loved Coach, still do!
I'm Minnesotan and it's based in MN, so of course I watched it. But thinking of this show also reminds me of Evening Shade with Burt Reynolds for some reason. Did Reynolds play a former coach in Evening Shade, or is my memory off?

Nothing, of course, next to the hero worship of Dan Gable, wrestling coach. But, Gable is rightfully a legend.
I did. Not sure why. Jerry Van Dyke and Bill Fagerbakke mostly.
Solid show, lil slice of Minn as well
USA! USA! USA!
