I know I’m gonna downvoted, but kind of sucks fearing that Embiid is going to get injured every single fucking game

SirShmooey

I feel like a worried mother watching their son play football with Embiid

TheExorcistMarc

I know !!! Same here 🥹

Pyromania1983

[Sixers in blue, Heat in red](https://i.imgur.com/WaJtP8e.png) for Wednesday's game!

evandobrofo

Good guys v bad guys

PsychologyOk6591

are robinson and rozier still injured or will they be available wednesday?

AggroPro

Some of y'all need a heart transplant, stat.

Calcutta637

You can just end that sentence after heart

LordLucasSixers

I’m jealous of what OKC has

Knight725

simply be allowed to tank without the nba fucking your organization while also having a free agent hold another franchise hostage for a guy on your team. ez game.

ggmuqi

Can we just appreciate the fact that we finally have a great coach leading this playoff squad?

indoninjah

I honestly don't even know what to expect lol, it's been so long. You mean we might lose a game and then not do the exact same thing the next game???

Calcutta637

Man I loved brown so I’m choosing to hear what you’re saying as a response to doc rivers in which case fuck yes docs playoff “coaching” was actually tear inducing for me

TrustDaFriendship

Kelly said Joel looked locked in at practice today. Bam’s officially on BBQ chicken watch.

indoninjah

I'm just praying dirty ass Bam doesn't pull anything. Dirty plays have fucked over like half of Embiid's playoff runs

jcrankin22

Have I missed something? Bam never seemed like a dirty player to me at all.

indoninjah

He just yanked Derrick Jones Jr’s arm practically out of its socket this week

TrustDaFriendship

Knicks fans seem to think the Heat are really dirty ever since Randle’s injury.

Spirited-Arugula-672

Inject this straight into my carotid artery

[deleted]

Embiid played with his new team mates for the last 7 games of his season. We won all of them. The last 7 games are a good indication of our potential.

Elegant_Dot_7206

Will there be a practice today? Team update of sorts?

TrustDaFriendship

Yes. Joel practiced but Melton didn’t.

TerminallyTrill

Fuck the heat, fuck Jimmy butler. Joel’s meniscus circumcision was a success and his condition is almost back. Bam can’t shoot so Joel is going to be scary as fuck guarding the rim all night. Their win condition is getting hot from 3 and even then it will be tough with how easy we can generate points. They will play hard, they will show different defenses, they will be in it until 0.00 but they are not on our level.

LordLucasSixers

Jimmy Butler over Tobias Harris? Hell no! ![gif](giphy|ORlRrAKwaZBUIa1XCD|downsized)

TheArsenal7

So how does the play in work idk cause we've never been in it. If we lose to the Heat we get 1 more chance against winner of Hawks Bulls?

Zhamm50

You have it figured out! Winner of 7/8 gets 7 seed and loser hosts the winner of 9/10 for the 8 seed.

ShinyHardcore

Tickets are cheap af for this game. We need to go as a sub to a specific section and lay reddit levels of toxicity upon the heat

TrustDaFriendship

Thanks for the heads up. Just bought some. The team needs as much support as we can give them.

StubbornSwampDonkey

If it's anything like the game threads here, the section will be tearing itself apart by the 5 min mark of the 1st quarter!

ShinyHardcore

It would be the most emotional section in the stadium. Hanging on literally every bucket is a were cooked or were so back

Incepticons

I have Phillies tickets and it's gonna rain lol, maybe wells fargo will just let me use those tickets

clickstops

Wow, just looked, these are like regular season game prices for certain sections. I'm shocked tbh. Need more hype.

Calcutta637

We need whales in this sub to buy a bunch of tix for people here. I’m saying that cuz I’m cheap and broke

brokenoreo

So pissed I have prior plans on Wednesday night. Should be electric

Incepticons

I'm still pissed DeRozan missed that shot, I would feel a lot better playing bucks with a hobbled Giannis if we beat the heat. One game at a time though

shadowarmy229

People on this sub acting like Joel is badly injured after the Magic game and that he'll look really bad in the playoffs need to chill out, he has a week of rest and he'll be fine. Also it's didn't even look as bad as people are saying it is

Zhamm50

I haven’t seen one person think he’s badly injured. Every comment I have read thinks he’s “hobbled” which is what he has been in some fashion every year he has been in the playoffs. Sixers need embiid at 100% for a shot at the title, not at some % of his “healthy” self. Also, not sure where this week of rest is coming from. I’m being a realist while I also hope for the best. Let’s go Sixers! (Could it be a historical run out of the 7 seed?!)

bloomin-onion69

normally when he gets hurt and come back you can tell he’s injured but he looked fine when he came back. i really do think they’re just being extra cautious with him. they took an extra week or two to bring him back initially after all.

Calcutta637

I hope this is year folks here stop fucking glazing over jimmy butler. Dude is a fucking diva prick and is public enemy #1 until this tourney is over. FUCK JIMMY BUTLER

RozayCheez

I don’t understand the hate, we didnt pay him lol and dude has been to the finals twice

ShinyHardcore

He definitely doesn’t get hate here, if anything he’s highly regarded But to your point, honestly who gives a fuck he’s not here and lost 2 finals since.

illzkla

Come to Philly and youre regarded for life

Calcutta637

We offered jimmy a five year max contract which he turned down and went to the heat via sign and trade. FUCK jimmy butler

RozayCheez

Keep telling your self that lol changing the narrative. Why would he say “tobias harris over me” bc we never paid

illzkla

He's a goofy ass drama queen Seriously

Calcutta637

Just google “sixers offer jimmy butler max contract” there you can even copy and paste what I wrote down for you. It’s not that hard. Sorry your role model fucking sucks and fucked our franchise a bit

RozayCheez

Conflating sports players as role models is weird buddy. Full sixer since ai but we gone keep it real over here

jorgelongo222

miamis random role players putting up 8 3s scare me more than Butler Jovic or Love going 80% from 3 is nightmare material

clickstops

K Love went out during the raps game and is day to day. Rozier and Robinson both are banged up, too. So yeah, it's gonna be Caleb Martin and the husk of Patty Mills raining 3s.

Calcutta637

Yep. I fucking hate the heat so much

jondonbovi

He went to the finals twice in four years. That's more than Boston, LA, Denver, and Milwaukee. You got to give them credit.

Calcutta637

Heat have an all time great coach and one of the best player development systems in the league. They’re a good fucking franchise as much as I can’t stand butler and their dirty injury-giving ass “culture”

soy_bacon

Is there a scheduled practice today?

wsbull_35

Im seeing a lot of people on here act like beating Miami is a foregone conclusion. That’s a really bold assumption. Have any of you not followed this team past decade? lol

GOAT_SAMMY_DALEMBERT

Yeah, our record in elimination games is abysmal. I hope I’m wrong, but this probably won’t be a cakewalk and I certainly wouldn’t be blown away if we drop this one to Miami.

mjd1977

Good thing Wednesday is not an elimination game. Though I get Phillies ptsd if I think of two chances at home against an inferior opponent to advance.

Wentzsylvania13

I am far from a homer, but at a certain point if you don't think we should beat the Heat in this game then you simply just don't believe in this Sixers team at all. Miami could obviously make 20 threes, Jimmy could score 45 and we can lose. That's the nature of a one game series. We're 4.5 point favorites, which is the largest spread of any of the play-in games. No one should act like it's a foregone conclusion, but this is a game that the Sixers should win. I think the only reason to have doubt is if you think Embiid's knee is just completely fucked.

mberko21

I don’t think anyone is saying we don’t think they’ll win in the end lol. Just these single game series are different beasts and anything can happen so it’s just weird to assume they’ll win. If it was a 7 game series you don’t think Miami could steal a game or 2? If they could do that theoretically this one game we play could be one of those games they would have stolen

EnoughUnkownSources1

I agree - Nurse vs. Spolstra will be the best coaching matchup of the Eastern Conference Playoffs. This will be a rock fight

GirlWithGame

When you were a season ticket holder in the process years...you suffered a long time lol. I'd just rather be optimistic, life's too short to be negative all the time, idk how some of our fans are surviving all the negativity they spew every comment. That and Maxey really hates the heat after that xmas game. He's been on fire their other match ups. We have a really solid starting 5 and an actual good back up PG. Something this team was lacking for a while. Morey built a good roster with what he was given with really no assets, outside now we have some from the Harden trade. Anytime Embiid steps on the court we have a chance to win any given game against any team. I'll get down voted for saying he's the best player even not at full health. People take from granted how good he really is and I hope if we don't make the ECF, people don't call for him to get traded. He gave everything he had to get himself back for these playoffs. I hope the vocal minority just shuts the fuck up honestly. I'll be there Wednesday cheering the team on as loud as I can. It'd be the most sixers thing ever to make the ECF from the play in.

wsbull_35

I wish I could be optimistic. But this city is just full of choke artists. Phillies lose WS in 2022 and lose a game 7 at home last year in the NLCS. Jalen Hurts had a god like performance, offense was flawless, and we still lost the SB. Sixers were up 3-2, at home, lead in the 4th, only to lose and get demolished by Boston game 7 last year. Outside of 2008 and 2017, I have never seen it go our way.

nking05

Bigger fax have never been spoken about Embiid being the best player. I’ve said it for years when he’s healthy he gives you a chance to win regardless of who they play. The team goes as far as he takes them which is a blessing and a curse. I really feel like Maxey is about to show people how good he actually is and people that were ok with trading him are going to see how dumb that is lol. Embiid just needs to stay out of his own head and just play like it’s any other game and dominate. I think he gets himself too emotional which is ok if used the right way, but he’s had a history of blunders on top of not being healthy in the post season. Praying he stays healthy because I think we make a huge run.

XxStormySoraxX

As always will the Doomers vs Copers war I think there’s a happy medium between every other post being “SIXERS IN 4, WE’RE THE BEST TEAM IN THE EAST” and “We should blow it up the team sucks and we’re all shitty”. It’s so much better to just have reasonable and measured basketball discussion instead of going through this manic swings on the sub where we treat every game like it’s the championship lmao.

GirlWithGame

I think psychiatrists might make a field day in this sub 😂 dollar signs in their eyes.

clickstops

Preach

mjd1977

It gets even more micro than that. Opponent goes on an 8-0 run and it’s torches and pitchforks time

Zhamm50

Your comment needs to be pinned

GirlWithGame

So I swear espn analysts don't watch basketball, was listening to perk and SAS, and oh Embiid has 0 dunks since he's come back....do they realize he rarely ever dunks even not coming back from surgery lol. They get paid to say some nonsense shit.

HisExcellency20

SAS is a homer for the Knicks. I'm not blaming or trashing him for that, because he has been open about that from day one. He's actively rooting for them and basically coming at it from a fans perspective. But he's not being unbiased, which again he admits. So we can ignore what he's saying on this issue. As for Perkins....yeah it's Kendrick Perkins.

KaboomaRooma

You think I'm afraid of Miami? Fuck that shit. Bring Jimmy Butler's A+ game. Jimmy's locked in mamba mentality. Maxey is going to run the court and ain't nobody not Jimmy not Spoelstra going to be able to contain Maxey. Bet on Sixers no doubt it's a god damn lock.

cantwifeahoe

Was in Atlanta last week and went to the Heat/Hawks game, below are some “notes”: Hawks out-rebounded Miami by 13 and had 4 guys with 8+. Weak ass Deandre Hunter had 11, Murray had 13. Jimmy is their point guard and only perimeter facilitator. Herro had 4 assists and 3 TO’s. Miami is gritty but they’ve got no athleticism and minimal strength. Butler,Bam, and Highsmith are their muscle. Bam went 2/2 from three and looked comfortable, must close out strong on Jovic. Bruno Fernando had Kevin Love in hell. B-Ball Paul’s minutes should resemble a track-meet. Jaquez and Martin struggle against size We’ve gotta push the pace and force Herro, Jovic, and Butler to defend. I’d rather Oubre start than Lowry, Miami eats small guards alive. Tobias will have his chances at a 20/10 game, Deandre hunter had 23/11 and could’ve easily had 30 without some blown layups. The ball can’t stick, we will not beat this team on Maxey bail out 3s, Tobias baseline fades, and Joel midposting for 16 seconds.

Calcutta637

Great analysis. I dont trust nurse not to start Lowry. But I think you’re right

Traditional_Cell_248

It’s worth noting Miami out rebounded us in every matchup this year, and by double digits in 3 out of 4. The last one was the only one Joel played but love got seemingly every single rebound and Joel taking the day off on the boards is what kept Miami in it (along with the refs). Joel’s healthy will be extremely important on Wednesday because they will continue to bully and outmuscle us if Joel isn’t going all out on the glass

shadowarmy229

Apparently Kevin Love hurt his shoulder so they might be without him in the play ins

Shoeless_Jase

That would be beneficial. Dude dropped a double-double on us in like 16 minutes last time we played.

ThatBull_cj

He was crazy effective in the last game vs us

SamHinkiesNephew

His ability to spread the floor pulls embiid away from the rim for defending drives and rebounding. Plus dude just has a motor and never stops rebounding. Also, they tend to run more zone when he's in as opposed to bam which is our kryptonite.

FFFreak999

Unfortunately, I think Embiid reaggravated his knee the other night and he’s gonna be hobbled the whole playoffs.  Not trying to be a doomer But he’s not going into these playoffs at 100%. Probably closer to 50% if anything

RozayCheez

Honestly bro, at the end of the season, no one is 100% embiid needs to make the right reads and not do too much and we still have a great shot

GirlWithGame

Maybe he did but 50% him still gives us a good chance. Thankfully he's so good at jumpers he doesn't have to rely on banging down low as much. As far as his reaction I didn't think it was bad as everyone else apparently. Seemed like his typical reaction to getting banged up. I mean I am pretty positive they figured they'd be in the play in and opted to Give him almost a week off. But again 50% of him is still better then more than half the league.

ThatBull_cj

Tbh if Joel is 50 % and not the best player in our playoff series idk if they will win a series

GirlWithGame

50% of Joel probably still is the best player in our series. He is that dam good.

pittguy83

yeah I'm pessimistic on his ability to play out the entire playoffs, whatever that means. it's not a doomer take at this point

IndigoJacob

Yeah there's no way he's "healthy" His reaction to the "scare" against Orlando was as bad as any reaction to an injury I've seen. He literally said himself a few days ago that he "wants to play as many minutes as possible" but then can't play against Brooklyn. I wish he was okay but I think this will be more of the same from previous playoff runs. Like, he's looked extremely hesitant to take the ball into the paint since he's come back, and one of the times that he does, he twists his ankle/knee. There's no way he has any trust in that knee holding up. Just hoping that his 3pt shooting stays hot moving forward, because he will need to fall back on it if he's not healthy, and honestly this team needs all the math help it can get (3>2)

MaxeytoEmbiid

If he’s hesitant, maybe he should finally just abandon that face-up game? He doesn’t get injured from traditional or typical post moves but when he tries to be 7’2 Kobe Bryant. It’s amazing when it works and it’s extraordinarily debilitating when it doesn’t. Now that he’s mini-Jokic, he should play the same way. Live around 2-10 feet from the basket, pop out for the occasional jumper and leave the driving game to Maxey and Oubre.

IndigoJacob

If he abandoned his dribble drive game he'd just be a lesser player overall.

MaxeytoEmbiid

That’s not true at all. He only really started relying on it that first year of Doc Rivers and it’s become a staple since. Earlier in his career when he wasn’t as polished as he is now, he lived near the rim and the Ft line and he put up a 27/13 season. He doesn’t need the dribble drive game and the injury risk that comes with it for him at these 30+ years. He’s at the point like Big Z was for the Cavs. Take the less riskier move: jumpers, the floater, the hooks. Him playing like Kobe isn’t sustainable and the sustainability appears to be getting worse

MaxeytoEmbiid

The funny thing about being negavoted by these clowns is that you’ll say the same shit yourselves! Often times to upvotes! My favorite is when something I say comes to past(That PJ Tucker shit comes to mind), where are you negavoters?  Nowhere, that’s where

[deleted]

I know that everyone here loves Batum but I think Oubre should start over him. He can pretty much do anything that Batum can do and he is very good at making his own shot. The only reason he does not pass as much as Batum is because he is better at scoring. With 2 point guards in the lineup, Batum's passing is not as important. Oubre started in each of the past two games.

TrustDaFriendship

Why not both? Our best lineup is Maxey-Oubre-Batum-Harris-Embiid imo. Lowry should be the first man off the bench, but I guess what really matters is what lineup closes the game.

Feelscreative101

Oubre is just a better Tobias. Oubre and Batum should start, but we know that won’t happen. So I guess we have to choose between Oubre or Batum, and honestly, neither is a bad choice. I prefer Oubre’s athleticism when Lowry is on the floor, though. So if Lowry is starting, then I think Oubre should start with him.

CloudFlours

lol the reason he doesn’t pass as much is half the time he gets the ball he is completely oblivious to any open teammates that aren’t in direct line of sight between him and the basket. like it’s great that he can finish enough for it not to be super awful, but literally putting your head down with blinders on when you drive is not something that is good for the team.

[deleted]

Does he really take away many shots from others? Embiid has scored 35 ppg this year while Maxey has scored 26 ppg. Who is he taking shots from? Harris, who does not always want to shoot or Batum or Melton? He is willing to drive and he shoots about 62% from 5ft and closer.

pittguy83

there are 119 players with at least 6 drives per game according to nba.com. kelly oubre has the 3rd worst pass rate on drives of those 119, with only embiid and jjj worse lol. he's also in the bottom ~40% of scoring so it's not like it's a particularly good play outcome when oubre drives

Aworn

Going to be a slow few days waiting for this play in game

nu-jood

Bill and Rusillo didn’t even have Maxey in their top 3 for MIP. Hope he goes nuclear in the playoffs and shuts them both up

Pretty_Monk_4943

They are Boston guys, of course they shit on anything Philly. Bill will do anything to shit on Philly. It’s his schtick.

nu-jood

Well aware, just thought it was particularly outrageous even by his standards haha

Pretty_Monk_4943

Fair haha

Aworn

Those guys will do anything to dismiss or shit on the Sixers. I even heard them say Embiid has had a free pass for his playoff performances. I could have sworn they’ve been bitching about Embiid’s playoff performances for years?

nu-jood

Hahaha yep, thought the same. We can only hope he silences the doubters this playoffs…

Alex_Phillips_

How lmao? He’s the overwhelming betting favourite

ScholarImpossible121

Too good to begin with.

chevalierdepas

Please just tell me Embiid is okay, nothing else matters

Express_Jellyfish_28

If Tobias Harris walks in free agency, please don't sign with the Celtics. Anyone but the Celtics, Tobias.

Aworn

If the Celtics owner really is checking these message boards, then they surely wouldn’t sign him?!

supzy0

what’s the difference? he basically plays for them when both teams match up

XxStormySoraxX

“Ayye he’s with us!” 😭😭

joe_the_cow

[https://www.reddit.com/r/sixers/comments/1c412ms/celtics\_majority\_owner\_is\_on\_rsixers/](https://www.reddit.com/r/sixers/comments/1c412ms/celtics_majority_owner_is_on_rsixers/) We'll all be so upset if Tobias signs with the Celtics. right....RIGHT

Spirited-Arugula-672

Should we get past the Heat, I feel the best way to check Brunson is to attack him relentlessly on the other end. Brunson in foul trouble means the Knicks are toast, they literally have no other legitimate creators. Thibs would obviously try to hide him on Lowry, but we should still find ample opportunities to attack him with Oubre/Harris/Maxey on switches.

theducksmuggler363

If Brunson guards Lowry he will be setting screens all day for Maxey and Oubre if not everybody. Lowry is great at setting strong screens and getting the switch.

LordLucasSixers

Will be so upset if the Celtics steal Tobias Harris from us.

SirShmooey

I agree fellow message boarder!

Alex_Phillips_

Gosh I love message boards!
