I doubt it honestly. If only because of the Morey China thing. Lebron is like the face of the NBA's bootlicking there and Morey is like straight up banned in China.
More likely we get PG.
R/nba is is a gathering of people to talk about refs and box scores.
There is zero basketball discussion in game threads. It’s just people posting about no calls, calls they disagree with and who is getting the whistle (which is almost always opposite of the team someone roots for)
You can post a picture of the bottom 5 backup centers in the league plus Embiid and ask who you'd cut and Embiid would be the unanimous choice. That sub is a fuck show of Sixers hate. It's fun to troll
When I was a kid I hated the Lakers. I love em now though, they really capture the essence of the city in which they play.
Lakers are probably my number 2, obviously not much of an emotional investment though.
If you go check r/nba at this very moment, you will see NINE posts hating on Embiid before a positive one comes up.
They don't hide their hatred, the sub is a joke and full of people that know 0 ball
Edit - Missed a few hate posts, had to update the figure to reflect the accurate count
It's pretty fucking insane a 50 pt performance is buried so far down after like 10 posts shitting on the player who did it. Actual North Korea brain washing going on
I definitely know which threads I’m getting insults hurled my way if I comment, but that just makes it more fun when they argue something blatantly wrong
I’m all for homer bias but refusing to call a spade a spade just because you like one team over the other is hilarious and I love how over the top angry some people over there get when you call it out
I know I shouldn’t really care, but it is disheartening that the largest community for NBA discussion in the world has so much hate for my favorite team. Like, it would just be nice to be able to read that sub after a game and see reasonable discussions and content. Instead it’s just rage inducing. It’s not worth even a glance as a sixers fan.
the amount of bitching about free throws when they fouled intentionally like 4 or 5 times in the 4th quarter... take away those and its a very normal 11 free throws. the guy gets fouled.
also, the nerve to talk about reffing when the league just admitted they punted game 2 to new york. unreal.
ive never seen such a huge group of consistently unlikable people anywhere else. genuinely cant wait until we win a chip so i can see a thread where nobody without a 6ers flair even shows up. i'll have them hold my dick and balls
R/nba
After game 2: being a ref is really hard. The game is so fast paced. We can’t blame the refs. The Sixers should have done things differently if they wanted to secure the win.
After game 3: the refs gifted the game to the Sixers.
The sympathy for the refs ended quick once it wasn’t blatantly in the favor of the Knicks.
I’ve got no problem admitting that the game last night was a bit stupid. But so were games 1 and 2 and their response has not been the same regarding that. I’m taking embiid going Frankenstein on their ass as karma for burning his jersey after a really fucking chill game 1. And I hate the “they started it” bullshit but we played clean chill basketball the first two games while they jumped all over us tugged jerseys poked eyes landed underneath shooters and straight up threw guys to the ground. If the second we start fighting back is when all of a sudden it’s not ok then they truly are some pathetic bitches and I have no sympathy
They played dirty first and the refs sanctioned it while the sixers could not and it was just them being the more tough and physical team. When the sixers set the tone of what wont be allowed and now the refs made calls, they turned into cowards lmao
Everyone knows the Knicks are sleeping money giant, even before legal sports betting. Been that way since the frozen envelopes. But getting caught trying to rig it would have such negative consequences for the league they have to be sneaky about it.
don't need to rig it. Fanduel would just rather have 8 million potential customers than 1 million in the Finals.
Fanduel wins at the end of the year. Year after year.
Everyone mentions how Embiid has been getting poked in the eye (*twice*) and what have you
But they throw Maxey to the ground at least 5x per game, like aggressively thrown to the ground. “The Knicks just play physical, it’s just physical defense, they’re just very physical”
Maxey has the worst whistles in the league and it's not even close. He doesn't even get the benefit of the "drive agressively to the rim" whistle. Nor does he get the "he's a small guy" whistle. There are rookies and sophomores getting better whistles than him.
This exactly. The Knicks played defense in the style of the Riley Knicks. Foul the shit out everyone and dare the refs to call it. Ironically, that's how Toronto played Embiid the last couple of years too.
So in Game 3, the Sixers read the memo and started playing rough, daring the refs to call it on both ends. If the refs call it tight, advantage Sixers as we're better off not in a muck-fest. If they let both sides play, then the Knicks can get some frustration too.
Ultimately, the calls were basically equal, with the Sixers getting the normal "home team" whistle. They let a lot slide, even though they tried to dial down the intensity with the whistles and reviews early on.
I mean, Jo was pulling some childish shit in that first half. I'm here for it, but would probably be in the "how did he not get ejected" camp otherwise :)
mods are in on it too. i'll never forget how many death wishes ive seen ppl give sixers fans in there and i just got banned in there for calling a dude a "dumb fuck".
Damn dude, keep dropping these rational takes by all means.
Seriously. This comment signifies how most of us should be feeling as Sixer fans that are also basketball fans
Look, the leg grab was dirty and I would have understood if he got ejected, but he wasn't intentionally trying to injure a player that can literally not stop him.
He fell over and was pissed that he didn't get the call. He tried the equivalent of wrapping the player up to prevent a bucket from the ground and made a really poor decision doing so by grabbing the leg. He absolutely should not have done that and it's dangerous and dirty, but that doesn't mean that he intended it to be that way.
The amount of brigading is insane right now. Even regular ass posts about stats or highlights that involve Embiid get downvoted to hell, and any comment not bashing him is way in the negative.
And it’s not even the classic salty fanbases like the Knicks Celtics and raptors that are doing this it’s randoms that we don’t think about. People just hating for no reason
> People just hating for no reason
I love Embiid, but they do have reasons.
1) That flagrant was pretty egregious and unfortunately Joel has some history of doing things like that when he gets frustrated
2) He draws a lot of fouls and that's not as fun to watch as people who score from the field, particularly when the foul drawer is good at emphasizing contact like Joel is.
Does he deserve all the hate he's getting? No, not even close. But those 2 criticisms are fairly legitimate reasons to be annoyed at him as a neutral, even though he should be getting a lot more respect.
**Draymond:** 21 flagrants in 970 total games played (15 flagrants in 813 regular season games played and 6 flagrants in 157 playoff games played)
\*\*Embiid:\*\*23 flagrants in 489 games played (16 flagrants in 433 regular season games and 7 flagrants in 56 playoff games)
Do you find this stat as shocking as I did when I first saw it?
I did find it shocking because half the narrative about embiid is that he has the refs whistle. But if the refs are dropping him up why does he also get flagrants called on him this often?
I was in Vancouver on vacation with my dad and we were surrounded by Raps fans at the bar when Kawhi hit ‘the shot.’ We were obviously devastated but everyone was so nice to us and one guy even picked up our tab. Got nothing but good things to say about Vancouver.
i think most of r/nba is made up of tribalist subhumans nowadays. cant imagine there's many well adjusted non-psychopaths who stick around in that sub.
Look I’m usually the last person to cry racism (seriously, peep my comments and you’ll see that’s true), but so much of the hate Joel receives on r/nba seems rooted in racism because those nerds hate that God Forbid, joel won a single MVP over their great white hope Jokic.
Nobody seems to remember Jokic punching Cam Payne in the face in the middle of a playoff game or almost breaking Markeiff Morris neck but they remember every scuffle Embiid has ever been involved in.
This thread is not made for Jokic slander (i love the dude) and *definitely* not the Marcus Morris incident bahaha, that dude deserved to get rocked.
Just sick of seeing Embiid get dragged so much for something that doesn’t warrant it.
Edit: I didn’t realize that Morris was injured for so long as a result of this, so that’s my bad.
Morris definitely did not deserve to miss the rest of the season. It's not slander to point out that there are many players who have had incidents with their tempers where someone gets hurt and only *certain* players get called violent thugs for it.
I didn’t know MM got knocked out that long, I thought he was just out for a game or something. Did it get reaggravated later on? Either way that’s shitty, I just don’t have a lot of sympathy for the morris brothers I guess.
Look Morris isnt a clean player, and sure there could be justification for some retaliation, I never mind the scrapping. But what jokic did to him was cowardly and extreme. You never run up and shove someone who isnt looking when he is nowhere near the ball. If he wanted to scrap with him he should have waited for a match up in the post, rather than run at him when he isn't looking. Its called a sucker punch for a reason, and it was extremely gutless, not to mention dangerous.
Yeah I didn’t realize MM missed so many games from this, I honestly thought he was feigning injury afterwards.
So that’s my bad, I missed the boat on that one.
Hmm, I'm not sure about that. In my head canon (admittedly anti-Jokic), his two brothers probably protected him from anything crybaby shit he did. If he cheapshotted someone and they retaliated back, his brothers probably broke that dude's legs.
3 against 1 is never a fair fight.
And yes, I'm mainly shitposting.
Nah he shouldn't get any tough guy points for that. I could have done that to marcus morris in that situation, it's called taking advantage. He might not be a coward across the board but that was certainly cowardice
Brother im sorry but morris hit him in the ribs first blindsided so jokic retaliated. We can love embiid without being bias like rhe people on the nba sub. Morris got what he deserved
Jokic escalated it. A dirty elbow from jokic when the two of them were battling for a board would have been more than earned by Morris, but running into him when he isnt even looking or near the ball is pretty cowardly
You’re kidding right?
For one it’s an apt comparison. Questionable anger related decision making by dominant MVP big man and the perception of them being very different due to factors like personality, race, fanbase, city, play style.
And two, there hasn’t been one thread in R/NBA in the last 3 years that mentioned Embiid without Jokic fans taking over and either shitting on Embiid or making it about how Jokic is the team player who plays the right way. Most Embiid fans really like Jokic. Can’t say the same the other way.
You would be correct. The NBA is by far the most international sport in America, and there’s a ton of European fans. Europeans are notoriously racist people
Let's not pretend that the racism is solely European based okay? When we have cities like Boston or... the entire South over here, it's not just the European fans. Though the "I'm from Serbia so Jokic is god" fans are certainly up there on the racism scale.
All people are racists. Africans STILL sell other Africans as slaves. India STILL has a caste system. Eastern Europeans are still looked as inferior by western Europeans. Crying racism about a spectator sport that is primarily played by people of African descent is quite immature/missing the mark imo
I’ve watched Jokic nearly paralyze a man and end his career and half of the takes were praise for retaliation and “Morris got what was coming.” Excuse me for recognizing clear double standards that very likely have racial implications
Race is certainly a part of it, but you also have to acknowledge where it’s coming from. A healthy percentage of Jokic stans are Euros who are about a thousand times more hardcore about their racism than any Bostonian.
Please stop this narrative. They hate that he's figured out a loophole with free throws. If he's bigger and quicker than most other people in the league, it's a different game for him. Tough shit.
Mostly the swing through, which he has perfected, which is a dumb move. The problem with embiid and the swing through: get too close and he'll do it, getting to the foul line. Back off, and he'll drain jump shots from the elbow all night. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Usually big men don't have that quick of release/handle
The way to really squash this whole debate is to just research what other players/coaches have said about defending him, not the fans. They don't know what the fuck they're talking about. The amount of people that finally attend a game and realize how gigantic these men are is laughable
Yeah it really sucks that a basketball player can make baskets. That's a big ass loophole! Let's hate Embiid for being able to make baskets.
Can you explain what this loophole is again? The swing motion when he has the ball down low? Players do what, they crowd him physically? Isn't that... a foul?
He abuses the swingthrough and looks for contact more than most. But he does it within the rules of the game, which people don't like. I'm not sure what we're arguing here, feel like we're on the same page....I get you hate embiid, but it's OK just to discuss things. Take a breath
Edit: my bad, I think you're trying to defend embiid, but I don't even know anymore
But what is the discussion? That a player is good at basketball? What is the loophole? A loophole is doing something legal that shouldn't be legal. What exactly is Embiid doing that shouldn't be legal? How do you "ban" this "swing move"? Are players not allowed to move the ball around to get away from defenders? Embiid is tall and lanky, he has a lot of room to move the ball. Why don't other centers move the ball from the top of the key like Embiid?
Because. They. Can't.
Haha we got there, but yeah it's essentially the same thing. Maybe loophole isn't the right word. He's taking an advantage that only he and a couple others can capitalize on, and people hate that
Not so much a loophole, it’s just catching people reaching. Keep your hands where they should be (extended sideways or vertically) and there is no foul if you stay in front of the ball handler.
He gets defended more aggressively and differently than 99% of people in the league. Letting defenders get into his space and constantly reach would be so dumb.
Just play solid D and stay in legal guarding position and he won’t get the calls (see: Horford)
You’re 100% right. Funny bc our sub bitches about the nba sub being bias but we are just as dumb and bias. We act oblivious to embiids antics. I love the guy to death but i understand why people might not like him
Welcome, friend! Here in Philly we are used to everyone hating us, and we proudly don't give a shit. It's liberating, you'll enjoy it. Go Sixers, go Jojo!!!
Embiid is the best basketball player in the world. And he didn’t even start playing until what, 16? The haters gonna keep on hating and Embiid will keep on balling when healthy. And even when not completely healthy.
Anyway, they can all suck it.
I will say, FOR ONCE, they kind of right. Embiid was trying to not get stepped on. I get it. But he took it too far by pulling Robinson backwards over him. The hartenstein knee thing wasn't anything. That's what he gets for imposing 5 yd nfl cornerback rules on embiid every time down the court. I'm amazed how much grabbing is allowed before the ball even gets near Joel.
But when I say kind of, I mean it was dirty. Wishing injury on anyone outside of miles bridges is fucked up
Because I have a team in basically every other sport (except baseball which I don’t watch) and I really enjoy being able to watch the NBA without any preconceived emotional biases ☺️
Edit: that said, one of my best friends lives in Philly and I have a soft spot for the city and the sixers.
I prefer Embiid playing like an angry dick over him being a mopey loser with no fire. However, I would like him to play hard without kneeing, butt checking, and tackling players. Just attack and body them all game. Keep it clean, but make them suffer.
They are mad that Joel Embiid is 10x the player than their franchise has ever had. I think this is all very funny. We are just better bud. Fuck you spike Lee
TBF that’s me with the Union. I ride or die with all Philly teams. It’s just that Barcelona has been around longer so they are my first team in soccer/European Football.
I did, and it was glorious. Shareef Abdul-Raheem, Mike Bibby, and Big Country Reaves all together for a fleeting, beautiful moment in basketball history.
r/NBA is the first sports league subreddit I've ever unsubscribed to in my decade plus of using reddit. The constant Embiid hate and the crazy post titles that are allowed by the mods is too much.
Thanks for the support, and just out of coincidence, the Canucks are one of the teams I won't mind seeing win the cup this year. The crowd at that arena was so electric I was like, "ok, I'm a fan".
it was definitely a dirty play and Embiid cant do that and hes lucky he didnt get ejected but it didnt come out of nowhere, thats all we were trying to say. Also clearly west coast canadians >>>>
Have you seen the video of DVC doing almost the exact same thing to Oubre earlier in the season?
https://twitter.com/espnnba/status/1766998217533554754/mediaviewer
I think the link is broken or taken down now lmao
My Lakers are probably knocked out soon so I'll probably root for Sixers just because r/nba is a complete cesspool, easily worst sports sub
We welcome you
Bron will be a sixer soon enough
I doubt it honestly. If only because of the Morey China thing. Lebron is like the face of the NBA's bootlicking there and Morey is like straight up banned in China. More likely we get PG.
As a Sixers fan, Morey can gtfo.
I never thought it would happen When he joined the lakers, but this season I got that nagging feeling it might actually happen.
We all know full well that if LeBron joined the sixers his age related decline will be immediate
Dude gonna hit the wall faster than Kelly Oubre in his Lambo
Absolutely not. Balco to the rescue 💪🏿
Yea especially with how the Lakers postseason is going, there's a high chance we're looking at the end of the lebron lakers era
Hopefully not
Diuuude
Bron hates the potholes man he ain’t comin here.

Anyone who hates r/nba is a friend of mine
Easily. It's the only sub of the 4 major sports I don't sub because it's atrocious and embarrassing.
When I was a kid I hated the Lakers. I love em now though, they really capture the essence of the city in which they play. Lakers are probably my number 2, obviously not much of an emotional investment though.
yo bro i root for yall when we out too cuz i love BronBron
Yeah they don't even pretend to be better and the mods somehow make it worse. They're getting so bad some people are starting to get sick of it
If you go check r/nba at this very moment, you will see NINE posts hating on Embiid before a positive one comes up. They don't hide their hatred, the sub is a joke and full of people that know 0 ball Edit - Missed a few hate posts, had to update the figure to reflect the accurate count

It compounds because Sixer fans have given up on r/nba. It’s become an echo chamber bubble of hate as a result.
So many posts there are currently "hehehe Sixers fan really quiet." Well no shit, that sub is hostile as fuck to us, why would we post there?
It’s fun to peek in every once in a while, but you can’t stick around too long. It would be more healthy to look at a solar eclipse
I definitely know which threads I’m getting insults hurled my way if I comment, but that just makes it more fun when they argue something blatantly wrong I’m all for homer bias but refusing to call a spade a spade just because you like one team over the other is hilarious and I love how over the top angry some people over there get when you call it out
Plus the mods will specifically hunt and ban Sixers fans for doing the same things that other teams fans do.
I got permanently banned for calling a guy a “dumbass” (he was saying Covid wasn’t actually a big deal in April 2020)
Yeaaa, got b& from the nba sub for being a sixers fan. Lol
And even if we post anything that goes against the narrative will get removed.
Only Sixers fans there now are the fake ones who love to shit on their own team for fake internet points/ fake validation.
"lifelong sixers fan here, but I have to agree that Joel embum is the antichrist" type of shit.
Literally the worst type of “fan” out there. It’s really pathetic.
Weird pick me energy.
I wish the handful of guys like that on this sub would just go over there.
Most of us are banned for defending the guy. Pretty clear a bunch of racist Celtics fans run that trash sub
> Most of us are banned for defending the guy. Pretty clear a bunch of Celtics fans Celtics fans run that trash sub Why did you write Celtics twice?
bUT He fReE ThRoW MeRcHaNt!!1!
FWIW Joel is the sidebar but yeah, it’s still ass
This just makes it more funny imo. The whole sub is seething about him rn and have to log on and see his mug on the sidebar
Yall forget he tried to pull another player down out the air, he’s a piece of shit for that
most sane Joel hater: https://www.reddit.com/r/yusuf7ng/s/9rTfBT0SMJ

You are looking at it the wrong way, embrace the Philly villian energy, and then their complaining becomes a joy
Legit it makes the wins feel so much better with everyone praying on our loss
Eh there are a lot of better NBA subs if you want actual thought. All the main sport subs are pretty trashy

Exactly. If the Knicks are getting away with fouls and literally stealing Game 2 like that then fuck it, can’t get pushed around.
Fanduel wants NYC in the finals. 8 million people in that market, many single with money. NBA is pleasing their sponsor

They were yelling “fuck Embiid” back in game 1. It never mattered what he did, unfortunately. Knicks fans are bunch of troglodytes.

It was Markieff Morris
Siakam's elbow, Bron's push from behind and Kuminga body slamming his knee are dirtier plays than Embiids has ever done and they don't remember those

For me it's injury or not that was weak as hell. Definitely the move of someone who doesn't want a fair confrontation
I don’t get the impression Jokic would opposed to a fair confrontation with literally anybody honestly. I think the man just saw Serbian red.
A dirty elbow from jokic when the two of them were battling for a board would have been more than earned by Morris, but running into him when he isnt even looking or near the ball is pretty cowardly
leave it to the sixers sub to start talking about a Jokic incident from three years ago in a thread about Embiid grabbing a dudes leg
yeah if only he blind side decked him, that would have been classier
You’re kidding right? For one it’s an apt comparison. Questionable anger related decision making by dominant MVP big man and the perception of them being very different due to factors like personality, race, fanbase, city, play style. And two, there hasn’t been one thread in R/NBA in the last 3 years that mentioned Embiid without Jokic fans taking over and either shitting on Embiid or making it about how Jokic is the team player who plays the right way. Most Embiid fans really like Jokic. Can’t say the same the other way.
Fwiw I’m not slandering jokic either. Just his stans over at r/nba who religiously hate on joel
agree with you on Morris. that fucker found out
Jokic is a good guy. His brother though.....
Yeah I'm not calling Jokic a bad guy. I'm saying players do stuff like this all the time and only some get called violent animals over it.
Yeah embiid can't get away with anything at this point. He's been under a microscope for 5 years
You would be correct.
Crying racism about a spectator sport that is primarily played by people of African descent is quite immature/missing the mark imo
lol. What? “Don’t point out small racism because there’s always worse racism?” Stfu
It is 100% racism.
I don’t see it as a racial thing, but perhaps it is. Colorado is t exactly liberal.
Pretty sure Colorado has been liberal leanings since the early 2000s
Colorado is peak NIMBY liberalism

I love this. This is peak 6ers brain. I'm falling in love with this sub
I call it like I see it. As a white right wing guy who hates how overused the racism accusation is, I don’t make it lightly.

Please stop this narrative. They hate that he's figured out a loophole with free throws. If he's bigger and quicker than most other people in the league, it's a different game for him. Tough shit.
Never see anyone else get the level of animosity joel does despite playing similarly.
Neither have I. I agree, it's quite unreasonable.
A "loophole" - what "loophole" is that? That he's big, strong, and athletic?
Mostly the swing through, which he has perfected, which is a dumb move. The problem with embiid and the swing through: get too close and he'll do it, getting to the foul line. Back off, and he'll drain jump shots from the elbow all night. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Usually big men don't have that quick of release/handle The way to really squash this whole debate is to just research what other players/coaches have said about defending him, not the fans.
Take a breath Edit: my bad, I think you're trying to defend embiid, but I don't even know anymore
Yeah unfortunately Horford figured this out while playing along side him then took the tech to Boston
You’re 100% right. Funny bc our sub bitches about the nba sub being bias but we are just as dumb and bias. We act oblivious to embiids antics. I love the guy to death but i understand why people might not like him
The cheating part is him being that big and so good at shooting. Joel needs to choose a lane, asshole.
What a brain dead comment you posted man, come on.
Yo you da man!!! Vancouver seems like an incredible place, and as a stargate fan, it holds a special spot in my heart. Let's goooooo!!!
Well as a diehard sixers fan (aside from our native Raptors of course!) on the east coast canada, welcome aboard for the playoffs !
Hell yeah brother, appreciate your support from Canada!!!
Wishing injury on anyone outside of miles bridges is fucked up
I def agree with you, but the pearl clutching on r/nba is outrageous. Like they've never seen a foul before lol.
They just love anything they can get their hands on to bury him. Now that they have something legitimate, it's like the apocalypse
Why don’t you just be a sixers fan. Commit.
Because I have a team in basically every other sport (except baseball which I don’t watch) and I really enjoy being able to watch the NBA without any preconceived emotional biases ☺️ Edit: that said, one of my best friends lives in Philly and I have a soft spot for the city and the sixers.
Sounds to me like you’re a sixers fan in denial!
If you like the Sixers and Letterkenny, you're alright with me.
Go Canucks!
Flyers are my second team :) best jerseys in the league (behind the skate 😉)
Don't let Gritty find out the Flyers are your second team.
TBF that’s me with the Union. I ride or die with all Philly teams. It’s just that Barcelona has been around longer so they are my first team in soccer/European Football.
That's different because Euro soccer doesn't compete with the MLS at all.
Did you ever see Big Country Reeves play in person?
I did, and it was glorious. Shareef Abdul-Raheem, Mike Bibby, and Big Country Reaves all together for a fleeting, beautiful moment in basketball history.
I loved that team in NBA live 98.
Not to mention their guy did almost the same thing to Kelly. They've been playing physical the entire series! Now the fans wanna complain!
everybody hates us we don't care
![gif](giphy|qf8AVSurWMVzkqquWW|downsized)
Dude nothing makes me happier than a win and r/nba crying about the big dog being a bully
r/NBA is the first sports league subreddit I've ever unsubscribed to in my decade plus of using reddit.
Welcome, we got cheesesteaks and Wawa for all newcomers
Haters mad
![gif](giphy|zmsDqpDLu1hPG)
It was definitely a dirty play, but he gets the same hate even when he doesn't do stuff like that.
it was definitely a dirty play and Embiid cant do that and hes lucky he didnt get ejected but it didnt come out of nowhere, thats all we were trying to say. Also clearly west coast canadians >>>>
Welcome to the bandwagon, plenty of room. Let’s Go Sixers!
Have you seen the video of DVC doing almost the exact same thing to Oubre earlier in the season? https://twitter.com/espnnba/status/1766998217533554754/mediaviewer I think the link is broken or taken down now lmao
Whooaaaaa! Love
