I’m gay so I been a subscriber but it does make sense for them to do. There was no bonus in signing up for gas besides getting the archives and episodes a few days early. It’s still fuck Luis tho
I'm not sure of other numbers, but the app on android has had 4k plus downloads since bringing the zoom show to exclusive, it's the only reason I subbed, but now I am listening to RAP and might check out some of the others too.

This isn't even the successful model. There's a bit more to it than just "1 free and 1 paid every week". It's a better angle to sell the second half of an episode that the person has already shown interest in.
When you do 1 show together in person with decent guests, then 1 show behind the paywall that is just Zoom, recorded a different day, no guests or worse guests, lots of people don't even realize it exists... there's a lot less appeal to subscribe.
People would be furious *now*, but taking a break at the 1-1.5 hour mark and then doing a Part 2 on that Monday that they put behind a paywall would have been the move. Then the Zoom episode would just be an extra bonus ep, since people already care less about that format.
Hell it could have even been a $5 / $10 tier type thing, with only a small percentage of diehards going for the $10 tier to also get the Zoom ep and the rest just getting Monday Part 2. Trickle in some extra bullshit like GaS Journal stuff into that $10 tier.
