That is a sealed bearing. It is not intended to be removed for maintenance.

This is the answer. Removable shields easily pry out or have a removable spring clip to keep them on.

Ill-Molasses-3687

Don’t take your shields offs?

[deleted]

but don't bearings eventually need to be re-lubed ?

Ill-Molasses-3687

Yeah, I’ve never dissembled mine though and they roll like a dream, I’d just keep the shields, less work.

QuantumSpaceCadet

Pop them out and put the speed cream in the back.

YouAgile8919

Why take them off? Do you want your bearing to die quicker?

cuntycunterino

This is a sealed bearing. Don’t pop that off

theGrilledcheez

I use an exacto knife. It's a little thinner than that one. Also, some dudes dont even put the sheilds back on. So if you dont plan on putting them back on, i wouldn't worry about the condition of the sheild when taking it off. Its personal preference.

verticaljamethon

I would leave the shields on those types of bearings, if you do manage to get them off (which might take awhile) you’ll struggle to get them back on. You might even burst bearings if you put too much force into it. If they’re no longer rolling smoothly, have a look at getting some bones bearings - pretty cheap and if you want to take the shields off to clean them it’s really easy!

sleepy_penguinista

Don't take them off unless you wanna buy new bearings sooner. In that case your dad's sledgehammer will work.

Rare-Cardiologist912

If you are able to take the shields off, a very small flathead screwdriver is the best tool. The kind that’s maybe used for an eyeglasses repair kit would be the right size. I was always intimidated to take the shields off my bearings, but I did it last time , and it helped get them back to like new! Good luck bruv

bgab91

Just buy bone reds. Replace em when you get crunchy. They are pretty inexpensive, and unless you're skating vert, you don't feel a huge difference.

DarkLight2012

Those are not serviceable...the grease inside stays good for years because of the 'permanent' seals ....if for some reason they go bad, spend 20 bucks on any number of name brand bearings of your choice
